An invitation to Cupid’s Café will change your life.
Former social worker Roxie Fisher believes she’s cursed to never find happiness and an invitation to Cupid’s Café isn’t going to change her situation. All the same, against her better judgment, she gives it a try. What else does she have to lose?
After the death of his wife, accountant-turned-firefighter Aidan Craig, can’t stop taking ridiculous risks and never turns down a dare. So an invitation to Cupid’s Café is an offer he can’t refuse. What he doesn’t expect is to meet the social worker who helped him through the darkest days of his life. Now she’s the one struggling, and he’s compelled to help.
The two experience an immediate attraction, but Aidan swore to never become involved in another relationship, and Roxie can’t imagine daredevil Aidan being interested in a boring, cat-rescuer like her.
Can Roxie find the simple joy of taking a risk? Is Aidan willing to risk his heart? Or will they both lose out on a chance at true love?
Lori Sizemore writes sexy and snarky romantic comedy. She adores all things story and geeks out about craft books, writing classes, and how-to blog posts daily.
When she’s not writing, she’s spending time with her family, playing video games, or crocheting. Sometimes all three at once, as she’s a master multi-tasker.
She loves to read a good book, in any genre, but her favorite is romance. Find her online blogging or on social media through her website, lorisizemore.com.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read from this author and it is a short story.
First off, I loved the aspect of Cupid's Cafe and I think it would be interesting to see the other couples Cupid's Cafe brings together. It seems magical in itself, even though it is hardly mentioned in the book. Roxie is so damaged when she meets Aiden again and she's at the end of her rope. She is no longer a social worker and suffers from a traumatic situations that happened while on the job. I loved Roxie's dad because he reminds me of my own.
Aiden is great and he loves taking risks after losing his wife years ago. He does it to defeat death and wants to live life fully. Aiden and Roxie really beend well together and seems to even out each other.
I will be reading more from this author and hope there is more to come with Cupid's Cafe!

Exactly like you is the first in the Cupid’s Cafe series. What I’m guessing is that it’s a series that will feature two different characters each time that will be summoned to Cupid’s Cafe and be set up to fall in love…exactly my kind of stories.
This first book focuses on Roxie and Aiden, two people whose paths have crossed before when their lives were very different. Roxie was a social worker who is now unemployed and struggling with depression. Aiden is now a thrill-seeking firefighter who Roxy met when his wife was struggling with a terminal illness. The two are asked to come to Cupid’s Cafe and were sat together. They both have their own battles and need to work together to overcome them.
THE GOOD STUFF
I didn’t know what to expect at all with this story but I really enjoyed it.
The story tackles an issue of depression, it also portrays it so well! Roxie’s mental battle is so well written, you can really understand her anxieties and irrational thoughts that come with depression. I’ve read a lot of books where somebody is battling with depression and everything is just constant sadness. Which isn’t what depression is. This book portrayed it perfectly.
Aiden was really likable, Roxie was a complex character but I really rooted for both of them.
I really like the whole idea of Cupid’s cafe and hope that we get to find out more about its motive and its manager.
NOT MY CUP OF TEA
I would have maybe liked Aiden’s best friend Kurt to have a little more of a role. His banter with Aiden was funny and good comic relief for the dark side of Roxie’s depression.
This is the first book in the latest series from Lori Sizemore and I will say now that if this is story is anything to go by I cannot wait to read the rest, I loved this. I loved the push and pull between Aidan and Roxie, the fact that he was willing to see the woman inside and not the shell of a woman that she appears to be. Living with her folks gives them grounds to worry about her and also gives her grounds to worry about them worrying, so she is well and truly caught in a cycle that she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to break, but living with depression on a day to day basis is draining and I thought that Roxie’s personal displayed all the traits of a woman teetering on the edge of almost giving up. So, when she ignored the invitation to Cupid Café I wasn’t surprised. Aiden on the other hand is maxing out on life since he lost his wife, her death leaving a void that his is filling by taking more risks than is probably healthy but it keeps him sane! Roxie was a major part of Aiden’s, so when they both end up at the Cupid Café… was cupid ready to come out to play???? I loved that Aidan was willing to encourage Roxie to think outside the box, to do things that she had never done before and to take back control of her life, but would what started out as the most fabulous friendship turn into something more? The something that they both needed? Well you will have to read the book to find out whether that is the case or not but let me just say that you may just be more than a little surprised. Highly recommended!
I have to say that I loved the mysterious way that Roxie is invited to Cupid's Café it really is a lovely touch. A chance meeting there sends Roxie on quite a journey to finding herself again. With both herself and Aidan having had difficult pasts that have left them in a vulnerable place.
There are a few themes in this story including friendship, romance, and grief and they are all packaged together in a sweet and entertaining story. It's a story about taking a leap of faith and hopefully getting your own happy ever after. Both characters were very likeable and I loved their interactions and how they slowly but surely began to heal. The storyline isn't all fluffy and light as depression is a central theme but it is well balanced with the romantic side and just offers a deeper edge to the story.
One thing I have to mention is that I would love to know more about Cupid's Café and it would be great to see more of a back story in regards to the Café. So hopefully in the second book in the series the reader may get to know a little bit more.
Four stars from me!
With thanks to Lori Sizemore for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Exactly Like You is the first book in the Cupid's Cafe series by author Lori Sizemore. I really loved this story. Made me smile as I read it. Beautiful love story I could not get enough of. Roxie is a former social worker. She believes she is cursed to never find love. She suffers from crippling depression. She gets an invite to the Cupid's Cafe and goes just to make her family happy. Aidan his wife has died. He is an accountant turned fire fighter. Can't stop taking risks. Never turns down a dare. Roxie never takes chances. Aidan seems hell bent on killing himself with the chances he takes. He remembers Roxie she helped him when his wife died. Now he wants to be the one that saves her. Roxie is worried she is too boring for Aidan. But Aidan is a decent guy, and he is not going to give up on the one person he has grown to love. I loved these two. They are what the other needs in life. Perfect for each other. I would love to read more in this series in the future and find out who falls in love next.
Roxie is living at home with no job or friends. Her parents are worried about her depression. Enter an invitation to the Cupid Cafe that she ignores. Aiden has taken to do things that are death defying since his wife died. He also gets an invitation. Roxie was the social worker that helped him with his wife. When he sees her, he just wants to say, Thank You. But he sees something is wrong. So it all starts with a motorcycle ride. Aiden pushing and Roxie not ready for the challenge but goes along. It is the give and take which turns the friendship to love. Can't wait to see who gets matched next.
Great start to what promises to be a thoroughly entertaining series. We begin with an intriguing invitation that leads to a chance meeting at the ever interesting Cupid's Cafe. The book has a great romance for sure that begins with the sweetest of friendships. What surprised me the most though was the real look at depression the book gave us and how realistic the struggle was.

Roxie Fisher feels like she hit rock bottom. No longer with a job, she moves back home and would rather not step foot outside unless necessary. With her parents terribly worried about how depressed she has become, her mother is thrilled to see Roxie has been invited to the Cupid Café and tries her very best to get her to go check it out. Aiden is a firefighter who aims to live life at its fullest. With a random invitation to the Cupid Café, he doesn’t take it seriously until he sees Roxie, who helped him and his late wife immensely before she passed away. Seeing the wall she built up for herself, his new resolve is to help her get back out there and living again, even if it means bringing down brick after brick.
I loved the idea of a seemingly magical café bringing couples together and I think it’s a great and unique way to make a series of standalones. Having read a book by Lori Sizemore before, I was really excited to read this one and was truly not one bit disappointed! Aiden is a determined character and I really enjoyed reading more of his backstory. I loved how even though he and Roxie are total opposites, they are perfect for one another. I did have a lot of trouble connecting to Roxie but grew to understand her a lot more when the plot unfolded. Depression is a really tough subject and I feel Lori did really well in portraying Roxie’s inner battle with it.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this beautiful, well-written book and I highly recommend it!
