When Simeon, a mountain lion shifter meets Asher, a blood demon, there is instant attraction. But, how can they act on the way they feel when there is an entire kingdom at stake.
The Incubus Agenda
Nicholas Tarrant has worked hard for his position on the Werewolf Coalition. Having access to whatever is happening inside the Coalition is important to the Underground and he's good at blending in.
Brody Lennox is sent to Glitnir to broker talks of peace but is dragged broken and bloody into the Council chambers. Ludvik wants him killed as a traitor.
Can Nicholas save Brody? Or is Brody too broken to be saved?
The Third Kingdom
The story that began as a simple Retriever case, has become the tale of the fight against a thousand years of evil.
The wolf shifters have Niceros to take down. The Vampire Twins have to deal with Cassius. The Second Kingdom is in disarray and Simeon, Asher and Phin are desperate to calm the unrest.
An alpha needs to accept his role, a blood demon has to become the King he was meant to be, and the Vampire twins have to end the war.
Against all this, Reuben and Ethan, lovers separated for a millennium, are thrown back in to a war to end the poison that is Ludvik Peitrol.
In a battle on the barren fields of Arberfan is where this story will end.

I think it's just me, as this series has a good reception and I seem to buck the trend. To me the stories were all just ok. We have 6 couples, each with their own book and an overall storyline arc The best story in my opinion was Simeon and Asher’s story. I didn’t really get the characters connection in all of the stories. They moved quickly from I don’t want to be with you or having communication issues to we’re together and I love you. I think all of the stories could have been fleshed out a little bit more. In all honestly I would have stopped after the first 3 books, but I wanted to find out what happened. The concept was good but the resolution of the overall storyline left me wanting more. It was, in the end, all so simple and could have been achieved a lot earlier and without all of the ceremony.
Book 2 in the Kingdom Series is another 3 stories that pick up from Volume 1 and continue on with the paranormal beings fight for freedom and equality. Once again we meet three more couples who find love even in the dark times they are living through and RJ continues to build her world and weave the story through to its conclusion. You must read Volume 1 for this book to make any sense.
So, realistically you would think that a blood demon would not instantly be one of your favourite characters but Asher is actually very sweet. Not acknowledged by all of his family Asher has a big role to play in ending the tyranny that the paranormal society are being forced to put up with and he could do no better than to have a feisty mountain lion by his side. Simeon is perfect for Asher and each man has a lot to bring to the story with what they can do to aid their friends.
Our next couple is Nick and Brody and this couple get to see the evil that is Ludvik and his cronies up close and personal. Sent as an envoy to discuss peace Brody finds himself pulled into a madman’s fantasy. Living will depend on werewolf Nick and his ability to rescue and heal the man who he is destined to spend the rest of his life with.
The final couple are two old souls who have been tied to the fight for freedom for over a thousand years. I told you back in the first story of volume 1 that things were not always as they seemed and that is never clearer than here when we meet Methulan who is and has been in love with Reuben forever. The vampire twins must rise up along with their allies to finally extinguish the evil.
This ending was definitely a bit sad and I was sorry to see the story finish.
4.5 Stars ~ It is quite fun to return to the world RJ Scott has built and discover whether Joseph, Phin, Levi, Declan, Connor, and Micah, plus the new characters to be introduced, will succeed in preventing Ludvik from destroying their world through blood magic. I do not recommend reading this volume unless you have either read the first volume, or the first three novellas in the series.
The Demon’s Blood “There was a reason the Second Kingdom had formed, and it wasn’t by chance. With the Red Mountains separating them and Glitnir, they lived peacefully and untouched. Not to say there wasn’t trouble in the kingdom.”
Simeon is a cat shifter, a member of the Feline Guild who chose to stay in the Second Kingdom, and away from Glitnir. Joseph needs Simeon to accompany Phin home to the Second Kingdom so Phin can talk to his father, the king, about what is going on, and Simeon can talk to his older brother, the head of the Feline Guild. The Resistance needs an ally in the Second Kingdom against Glitnir as, despite Joseph’s hopes, this situation can’t be resolved through talking alone.
“But if he was honest, he knew little to nothing about blood demons, only that they were beings created thousands of years ago by Vampires as walking blood banks. Only when the vampires had no more use for them, relying on synth instead of real blood in the most part, did a separate blood demon home become necessary.”
The Second Kingdom has its own issues, one of them being that blood demons are considered slaves with few to no rights. Unfortunately Asher is Phin’s half brother, whom the king knows nothing of, and Asher is a half-blood demon. He is also the older brother, technically heir to the kingdom, the one Phin believes, as half elf and half-blood demon, can unite the kingdom and bring it into the current century. Asher is also a direct line descendant of the original blood demons which makes him as much royalty within his species as Phin is to the elves. Needless to say, Joseph is sending Phin and Simeon into a very volatile situation, considering the felines hate the elves, the elves hate the blood demons and the felines, the caste system is atrocious, Simeon’s brothers hate him, and Phin is to be killed on sight if he returns (long story there). Phew!
I could go on and on here telling tales of what happened between Simeon and Asher, or whether Phin took up the reins as heir, or if Asher became who he should have been all along, but I’m not going to. I need to leave some secrecy and there is plenty to get excited about in this installment. Really loved ‘The Demon’s Blood’!
The Incubus Agenda Nick has been sent to the Wolf Coalition to gather information for the Resistance. Unfortunately, it’s even worse than Nick thought when he discovers that the wolves and vampires are backing Ludvik to preserve Glitnir and their ideas of species separation. When Ludvik delivers a bloody and tortured Brody to the Council, Nick is given the job of getting information out of the incubus and then killing him. Brody is only one of two incubi in Glitnir and he’s very valuable to the Resistance. What in the gods is Nick to do, and how is he going to get Brody out?
“I’m never having sex with anyone else other than you?” he asked. Nick nodded. “Pretty much until the day you die.” “Given what kind of battles we’re in the middle of? You realize that could be a very short time.” “Best start healing then.”
Brody doesn’t believe in fated mates and he loves not being monogamous, whereas Nick does believe Brody is his fated mate and he refuses to sleep with Brody if it’s not going to be it for each of them. None of this matters, however, when whatever Brody endured at the hands of Ludvik seems to be preventing him from healing, and might lead to his death. Again, there is so much that I can’t say because it’s huge spoilers. Regardless, Nick and Brody are accompanying Reuben to Arberfan, the site where all the battles a millennial ago occurred. The site where Ludvik, in his jealousy, spelled Reuben into the Vampire Book of Days and cursed Reuben’s lover, Methulan, a half human, half incubus to wander alone, his lifeline tied to Reuben’s.
Wow. So much going on here it’s exciting beyond belief!
The Third Kingdom Reuben and Methulan’s, or Ethan as he is known now, story is so sad. I’ll admit that the author’s explanation for all of it left me a little confused, but I was simply happy that these two men were finally reunited. Now, they all need to defeat Ludvik once and for all.
“I loved you, and I love you. I always have and I always will. I don’t want the bond broken because you are the other half of my heart and I can’t imagine a life without you. It hurts when I consider what it would be like.”
This final novella was fascinating, jumping back and forth between the different factions of the Resistance trying to get enough support and allies to be able to take Glitnir and Ludvik. It was a lot of politicking which, I’ll admit, is not my favorite thing, but I really enjoyed seeing Asher and Simeon take on the issues in the Second Kingdom, and Joseph and Micah work on the Vampire Council, while Connor and Declan worked the wolves, and Phin seemed to be porting all over the place to help everyone. I loved the fact that Connor was persuading some of the Retriever wolves to his side because they believed he was alpha, even though Connor wasn’t so sure of that.
The ending was phenomenal and I loved it. I’m not saying whether the sides met in war or negotiation. The only way to get all the fabulousness is to read these two volumes. Thank you, RJ, for such excellent worldbuilding and wonderful characters.
NOTE: This book was provided by Love Lane Books for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews
I've loved how each one in these interconnected romances has carried the overall story arc along with it as supernatural beings meet, fight and eventually fall in love.
There's been some lovely little twists a long the way, a lot of humour, plenty of sweet romancing and just enough of the sexy times to bring a bit of heat.
I've enjoyed how each romance had its own unique flavour and combination of paranormal lovers but all with a link to the others in the six pairs. I'd happily read more in this setting but the story is rounded off and finished well. Both books have had beautiful covers too in this re-release.
In this collection of stories, we get the answers and conclusion to all of the underlying stories that began in Kingdom Volume 1 along with love stories for 3 additional couples.
The Demon’s Blood – 5 stars We met the characters of feline shifter Simeon and half-breed blood demon/elve Asher in Kingdom 1 as they played supporting roles. In The Demon's Blood this unlikely pair becomes lovers and Asher takes his rightful place in the Second Kingdom. Together they must convince their separate groups of people to become part of the Resistance.
The Incubus Agenda – 5 stars Wolf-shifter Nicholas is a politician, newly elected to the Werewolf Coalition. He's not a fighter but he knows he has to help incubus Brody when he's being tortured. Imagine his surprise when his wolf decides that Brody is his.
The Third Kingdom – 5 stars Everything finally is revealed and the answers we've been waiting for are provided. While there were times as I was reading these stories that I wondered if there really would be a good outcome for everyone; I shouldn't have worried. RJ Scott always gives us an HEA.
I've read shifter stories and I've read vampire stories but I've never read a book/series with so many different supernatural characters. I really never thought that I'd enjoy all of the fantasy stuff surrounding this kind of story but RJ's writing really sucked me in and kept my attention throughout the entire series. I look forward to reading many more of her books.

The culmination of the Kingdom series was an excellent experience. Surprisingly, it reminded me of a similar-ish series by Nora Roberts (Circle Trilogy). Both ended with a group of paranormal couples coming together with an army at their back making a stand on a grim former field of battle versus an enemy that hungered for the need to rule in their own very dangerous way.
I really enjoyed diving into this series, and I appreciate that the final story in the series allowed us to regroup with each of the characters and their POVs, including the MCs that coupled in the finale.
I finally finished the Kingdom stories and they were so heartfelt! Characters who loved deeply and villains who killed indiscriminately walked through the pages. Can’t wait to read more from this author!
4.5 stars This second part of the series was terrific. It had me glued to the pages to see how everything would turn out. I loved the Ethan twist and how all the characters worked together to create a new beginning. Highly recommended.
Book & Author: Kingdom Volume 1 & 2 by RJ Scott Rating: 4 stars
As someone who is a fan of paranormal books, I’m always looking for a new and interesting story to read. Sometimes that's the typical woven into a new package, but other times it’s finding a story that puts a new twist on the typical and gives it a whole new life. RJ Scott succeeded in that for these stories.
Each story was like a piece to a puzzle. By finishing one, you were another step closer to completing it and seeing the whole picture. Each character's story that was brought to life was not just about the love they would find but the strength they would gain to stand and fight against the evil that was in the way of peace and equality for every species.
RJ Scott has written some of my favorite characters, and she did it here giving me, even more, to love in a long list. Phin and Joseph were probably one of my top favorite couples. Their competing personalities were fun to watch interact, both strong willed and so in love with the other. I will admit to struggling a bit when it came to them since Joseph had been nursing broken heart before. Each species in this type of trope has the norms that get written, but here RJ took some of those norms and turned them upside down giving the human side of the wolves more say in their relationship, making vampires less cold hearted, and making the Incubus magical in their own right.
The story was fun and cute, intense and action packed, but also sexy and romantic. I have my favorite couples in the six stories, but I loved them all. Each were unique in their telling but important to the overarching storyline Although I had some big issues with some head hoping that happened here and there overall the story was well written.
Overall Series Review: Micah and Connor are definitely a handful which makes them perfect for each other. Declan has met his match in the incubus Levi. Joseph finally gets some happiness if he & Phin finally let each other in. Asherkan & Simeon make for an interesting pair. Can their attraction be enough for Nicholas & Brody to overcome their differences? Reuben and Ethan have been given another chance after nearly a thousand years, but will it turn our any differently the second time around? These leaders and members of the Resistance want to change their corner of the world to make things better for all supernaturals but will they be able to find happiness for themselves along the way?
The series may have been given a new title along with a new presentation but the story arc is just as good as when I originally read it nearly 2 years ago. I loved how each story was another piece of the puzzle, I do love a good puzzle, and when everything and everyone comes together in The Third Kingdom, all the details start to fall into place. The finale is amazing and brings a conclusion that will leave you feeling every emotion out there but completely satisfied when you hit the last page.
Generally, when a series centers on a different couple for each installment I have a hard time connecting with each new one because the first couple reached my heart so completely but RJ Scott has a way about her that it never becomes an issue. I love them all equally. If you are someone who only reads paranormal tales in October as Halloween approaches, be sure to pencil Kingdom in your calendar because it is so worth it but if you are like me and can enjoy them anytime, don't wait another minute to give these guys a read, you won't regret it.
Same deal as Volume 1 - this is a set of 3 stories that were previous published separately. I will be doing a short review for each volume.
The Demon's Blood - 4.5 stars So far, my favorite in the series. Loved Asher and Simeon, and everything else going on that's building up to something big. You definitely need to read these in order as the overall story to end the corruption in Glitner is the big goal for everyone.
The Incubus Agenda - 4 stars I had apparently read this one when it first came out, but I liked it more this time around since it all made more sense with the overall story. I love everything starting to come together, can't wait to start this final book! The romance is pretty quick moving in this one, I feel like it was a bit...rushed? to get the overall story moving along to the final book. I enjoyed Nick and Brody, they might be my second or third favorite couple in the series.
The Third Kingdom - 5 stars The final book in the series and it all comes to one big showdown with the vampire twins, the Council of Twelve versus Ludvik. I love that we got chapters with all the characters, and I really enjoyed that it was chapters with friends/family as well as their romantic partners - like Connor and Declan, Micah and Joseph. I love Ruben and Ethan's story, I love the world that RJ created, with so many different types of characters and the world building was great. I really enjoyed this series, if you want something with supernatural beings and sweeping romance, I recommend this!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The three books in this volume were previously published titles available separately. This is not a stand-alone, if you don't read Volume 1 first, you'll be horribly confused.
Volume 2 picks up right where Volume 1 left off.
4. The Demon’s Blood - Asher and Simeon's story. You have to love an author who can make you root for/care for a Blood Demon :) The pair are adorable together and it was nice to see them find each other and deal with the strife created by the corrupt ruling council. The story moves quickly and the action is pretty much non-stop.
5. The Incubus Agenda - Nick and Brody's story. Once again, the evil Ludvik has gotten his hands on one of our MC's and puts them through hell. Nick rescues Brody and the tale continues with Brody healing from the trauma, acceptance of Nick as his mate and preparing for the final show down with the corrupt Ludvik. We also get introduced to an enigmatic new character, Methulan. He has magic, will he use it for good or bad?
6. The Third Kingdom - Reuben and Ethan's story, nearly 1000 years in the making. We get to find out about Methulan, watch as Reuben and Ethan are reunited and then wonder can they stay together with the threat of war at their doorstep. The final show down is finally upon all our heroes and it's a RJ Scott book, so you know which side prevails.
I enjoy paranormal books and thought I knew what I was getting into with these six stories. What I got was so much more. Well done, Ms. Scott!
Continuing from where we left off at end of Volume 1 we get to watch as in :
The Demon's Blood, Simeon and Asher discover each other. Simeon helps Asher become who he needs to be. Protects him and their love makes them an unbeatable couple. Things are not always easy but the support Asher gets from Simeon and the support he gets in return is wonderful to witness as they, along with the others battle for peace against a being insane with power. The Incubus Agenda has Brody and Nicholas battling evil as well. Their attraction, devotion , love and kickassedness, as with the others, as well as the fight they are embroiled in, brings these men closer to a peaceful solution. Not an easy feat as people are injured and lives lost, they fight through, together. For themselves and the lives of others. Finally, in The Third Kingdom we see Reuben and Ethan, long lost lovers, separated by an evil man bent on having Ethan for himself. Ethan has lived and died over and over for a thousand years while Reuben has been locked in a journal, awaiting for the day he could be released and help destroy the evil that destroyed his happiness. Together, all these men from this book and Volume 1 ,along with past enemies, bann together to defeat the evil one and make life good for them all to co-exist and protect each other. An amazing group of stories. A MUST read. I received an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.
From that review: " Kingdom Volume 2 (Kingdom #2) gathers the last three books of the Kingdom series into one as the saga builds to its series ending finale. RJ Scott put the narrative sink into these stories, I mean there's vampires, werewolves, elves, incubi, mages both good and evil, demons, thrones at stake, multiple couples finding love while raising an army and going to war...simply everything and it works. I was only missing the dragons here.
The final three stories also fills in the rest of the universe building and mythology. As twins Micah and Joseph, their mates, and the rest of the Resistance race to gather the rest of the races and Councils against Ludvik Peitrol, these stories see at what cost working for the Resistance and that strategy comes at before the final battle can be fought.
This has been a wonderful series. You definitely must read Volume 1 prior to reading this one. even though the stories are stand alones, there are threads inticately woven throughout all six books. So if you don't read the first volume you may find yourself losing your way.
All six books have interconnected romances that make up a small part of an entire story. RJ Scott allows her reader to easily enter the world of the paranormal ad believe in what is happening, along the way meeting elves, vampires, demons and werewolves.
Simply fascinated by an intriguing storyline and enraptured by fully believeable characters, I was more than happy to never put this series down. ii will most definitely be looking up more of Ms Scott's books.

This second set of the latter three books of the series lacked the passion and romancing of the first three, at least the first two which revealed mates. The saga of the forming of the Third Kingdom, the battle. Fills the last entry. It's great drama, well written and plotted, but these three didn't reach me as the first trio had. Still, all-in-all, great alt-world building and intriguing characters.
