In Hungry for More , Mel Wells helps you dive deeper into your food and body psychology, to help you understand how your unwanted eating patterns and cravings might not be due to a lack of will power but a lack of fulfilment. What’s more, if you pay attention to them, they might actually point you in the direction of your soul’s true calling.

Our relationship with food is a mirror of our relationship with life, which means our deepest cravings point to something much greater than caramel lattes. When we set ourselves free from the limiting beliefs we have around food and our bodies, we begin to discover just how powerful we really are.

A good personal growth book, I did learn some new things, But the repeating of "You are a goddess" over and over again in all chapters got really annoying and just felt egocentric.

I first found Mel’s Goddess Revolution a few years ago and couldn’t put it down. The same happen with this personally eye and heart opening book. I have struggled with food and my self love since I was young and it is through people like Mel and her captivating words have I fallen harder for ME.
I aspire to spread love to others and help them feel their best but can only do that by being the best me first.
Thank you for your books and your light! Xx

I think if I was feeling more receptive and optimistic toward the possibility of successfully changing my life, this book might have come off as more helpful. Unfortunately, while the author’s narration was excellent, I found her advice to be akin to the messages found in fortune cookies or in the home decor section of Target. Live Laugh Love! If you just want it bad enough, you can do anything!

I think she lost me when she left home to go on a six week international trip after things fell apart around her mid-20s. She says she came home afterward feeling refreshed and more optimistic. Well, yeah, that sounds great, but I’ve never taken a 6 week vacation in my life. Of course that sounds like it would improve your outlook!

I didn't not like the book. There were some good tidbits and a few takeaways, but still just a 3/5.

Lots of great takeaways in this book. I LOVE Mel. There was a lot of repetition in her book- however I think she serves so much wisdom and insight into being a woman and freeing yourself from expectations and social norms.

Been reading this off and on for months and there is a lot to take from it for self work. I like her calm demeanour and sensitive approach to be ok with you and be ok with letting go and giving in.

There are times where the right book just falls into your hands at the right time. I am not normally one for reading 'health and lifestyle' books. It's just not my normal read. I found out about this book from an episode of Loose Women (a random episode just left on the TV by my mum) and they had Mel Wells on this episode and the way that she and Chizzy (from the panel) were talking, really had me interested in reading what she had to say. I have been frustrated for years with my weight - and hearing it being spoken about like an addiction that needed help was refreshing, it felt like the cries for help I'd been giving out of the last few years were recognised and vocalised. Needless to say, I ordered this book on prime, eager to get started on it straight away. I worried that I had built up quite a hype for this book in my head, and it might read as kooky or too new-agey for cynical me. This book did not disappoint.
The book is split into chapters, each with their own subject matter, carried through with the over-arching theme of self-love. What I loved about this format is that, as you move forward after reading this book you may need to reread certain parts, and this allows you to quickly pull out the bits most needed for you at any time.
My normal issues with 'health and lifestyle' is the patronising manner in which things come across - but reading this book was like talking to a friend. Talking to a friend giving you the verbal kick up the butt you need to propel yourself forward. It was simple, but eloquently put.
I had so many lightbulb moments about my own perception of life, my moods and my habits. I’m not saying I will change my habits over night but I’m seeing a positive impact already. I’ve tried diet programs before and really resonated with the idea of guilt. Mix that ‘syn’ culture with my Catholic upbringing and I have a real cocktail of guilt culture in my background. But, to see it put down in front of me in black and white about why these diets didn’t work for me was more beneficial for my mental health than anything I’ve seen in recent years.
I feel like I’m at the start of a journey after reading this book and whatever comes next, I’ll have this little pep talk of a book sat on my shelves ready for when I might need it again.
Well, it should really go without saying but – I strongly recommend this book.
