Cullen grew up in rural North Carolina, but now lives in the St. Louis area with his wife Cindy and his son Jackson. His noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. In addition to The Sixth Gun, his current projects include Crooked Hills, a middle reader horror prose series from Evileye Books; The Tooth, an original graphic novel from Oni Press; and various work for Marvel and DC. Somewhere along the way, Cullen founded Undaunted Press and edited the critically acclaimed small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum.

All writers must pay their dues, and Cullen has worked various odd jobs, including Alien Autopsy Specialist, Rodeo Clown, Professional Wrestler Manager, and Sasquatch Wrangler.

And, yes, he has fought for his life against mountain lions and he did perform on stage as the World's Youngest Hypnotist. Buy him a drink sometime, and he'll tell you all about it.

Wow, I never thought I'd be enjoying this issue in the Darth Maul mini-series! Darth Maul #4 is a visual spectacle, treading on guilty-pleasure light saber action and violence. Nothing much has happened other than that, but man this issue is so entertaining to read.

I didn't like the Jedi Padawan before, but I have judged her too early. She is in fact a legit badass, a sure knight that can really go head-to-head with Maul, a sith known for his uncanny skill with the double light saber.

This issue is beautifully drawn. That red sky is absolutely gorgeus to look at. Casting a red hue that fits perfectly with Maul.

Again, great art, and I've always been a Maul fanperson. I can't wait to see the fight next issue. Also I wouldn't mind a Cad Bane/ Aurra Sing miniseries after this one a la Dr Aphra.

Lots of action but this issue doesn’t move the story along much. It was just a set up for the final issue coming up next.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect that Maul's desire to kill this padawan is a metaphor for losing one's virginity. Not sure whether that's the intention, but it's really weird and shows just how messed up Maul is. He seems to take pride in the fact that she may be knighted soon, which would make him killing her feel more satisfying to him. I do like seeing how desperate Maul is to keep his secret sidequest in the shadows.

Another beautifully illustrated action packed installment of the maul origns series. Its is getying darker as the series continues but is a thouroughlly enjoyable read and as it is from the point of veiw of maul presents amd great opportunity for children to analyse what makes a good villian in literature.

Hunters are gathering around, looking to bag the Jedi that Darth Maul already has big designs on. This is another great issue, full of more action and Maul barely containing his rage as he looks to find just the perfect time and place for a fight that he hopes will help him to finally find some peace.

"I really liked it." - 4 out of 5 stars.

Really loving this Maul comic. The cover art says it all. Red versus blue, 'good' versus 'evil'.

Really looking forward to Bunn knocking the final episode coming up next out of the park.

A couple of nice moments in this one. The droid's was especially satisfying, but Cad Bane and company gave a few good panels.

The main story is kind of predictable again.

Maiu versus the padawan. Hate fuels his anger. Vengeance might quench the fire that burns in what passes for a sith soul. Will these star wars ever end? Not likely. We're OK with that.

I enjoyed the palette in this issue and the interactions between Maul and the Padawan, Eldra. After crash landing on a desolate moon they are hunted for a game arranged by Xev Xrexus.

Eldra: MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.
Maul: SPARE ME. I DO NOT NEED YOUR JEDI PLATITUDES. THE FORCE IS ALWAYS WITH ME.

Also, the cover is great.

A bit better than the previous issue, but that cover had me expecting something...

Still, I enjoyed the exploration into the relationship between the Jedi and the Sith, especially at this stage of the pre-prequel-trilogy story line, when the Sith are still supposedly gone.

I will be looking forward to how this arc ends, but now that we have the new awesome Darth Vader series going on at the same time, this series is showing his weaknesses even more by comparison.
