5 Finale Hearts!
I’ll be the first to admit that this series is not my favorite of Ford’s, but this last entry in my mind, was definitely all about saving the best for last. I’m also quite known for giving series finales a generous 5 stars especially if they wrap things up in an epic conclusion, and this did not fail me.
It would be impossible to rehash the plot of the last five books, so suffice it to say that if you haven’t read any of them, this is not a stand alone and you need to turn yourself around and get cracking.
I think overall, it probably would’ve been ok, minus the dangling plot point in Absinthe of Malice , if this book was never written. However it was, and it brings us full circle back to the first and foremost character Miki, turning his tragic beginnings into an opportunity to finally find some answers and heal some terribly awful wounds.
Why this was a hit for me is because this literally brought me to tears multiple times. Remember - make me cry - win bonus points. With all the emotions, I got ferklempt over and over as Miki grows and moves beyond his past to something so much more. This was not an easy road by any means, but forever by his side is the fabulous swoony Kane, made even more poignantly fabulous and swoony with his undying love and support as he navigates the 24/7 minefield, aka as his resilient but scarred and traumatized lover.
Narrated by Tristan James, he is this series and as always, it was a great listen as he juggles the many characters and accents with aplomb! He brings to life Ford‘s descriptiveness and beautiful words that are ever present, and where it might be too much for some standalones, it works so well for this established couple, further cementing their bond and love connection that really really tugged at my heartstrings.
This last entry was obviously an ode to Miki and Kane so they could finally move forward uninhibited, unafraid, adding so much more depth and breadth, bringing a fitting, well deserved and very very romantic start to their happily forever after!

NOW ITS TIME TO SAY GOODBYE!!
And an era has come to a close. Our boys are now men (well…) and people are still out here trying to kill everybody.
Miki St John haven’t had the best run at life, and while there has been really good things like falling in love with the man of his dreams Kane, and having his best friend back who he thought had died Damien. So yes, shit has hit all the proverbial fans with him but there’s so much good he’s been given and yet his past is always behind him like a shadow of death following him everywhere and now someone wants him dead once and for all. While hes lived in his bubble of never facing his mental issues and ignoring all the things that got him to where he is right at this very moment, the jig is up and it’s time to face the music. The songs of his past and the beats of his future. Miki St John will not go out without a fight and he’s got family, he’s got friends, he’s got Kane.
If you’re like me and have been with the boys from the beginning then you know all this was meant to happen. People have been trying to kill Miki from way back when and now we finally know why, now Miki finally knows why. Done in Rhys Fords usual dramatic flair and Sin and Tonic kept you on your toes and had you anticipating when the final shoe would drop.
What worked for series at one point, kind of worked against this story. Don’t get me wrong I love Miki and Kane but by the middle of the book I was like “his ass gon die just now”. Miki being stubborn was no longer cute and just downright annoying. He knows if he moves something blows up, so I don’t know why he couldn’t just understand to keep his ass at home. I get it, he’s independent and does what he wants but he forever be putting himself and innocent people in harms way. The big climax was a bit of a disappointment because I saw it coming. Like people out in the streets trying to kill Miki but you gon leave him at home all by his lonesome (oh bad guy what a big gun you have).
Upside, I love seeing his growth. Forever he been avoiding everything and in the process pushing people away and unraveling, so to see him getting the help he finally needs is just “bless up”. Lots of loose ends gets all tied up and finally we know how Miki St John came to be and how his past led him to the future he has now.
Overall, a nice wrap up to a wonderful series. From Sinners Gin to Sin and Tonic the entire series has been a wonderful series filled with violence, music, and most of all heart. What a ride it has been to watch all these men fall in love and find family in the process. Regardless of past and situations music brought them together and music kept them together. It’s been a pleasure Miki St John, Kane, Connor, Forest, Damien, Rafe, Quinn, Sionn, and the entire Morgan clan, till we meet again.

I won and ARC and I am so freaking excited!

This book had what book 4 and 5 in this series lacked for me.
First of all this had a driven plot, where book 5, for example, was sort of...Slow? Chill.
It was cool to see the gang and their significant others again in book 5, but not a lot happened, other than being a set-up for THIS book, which -IMO- could have been boiled down to a part of this story or maybe written as a novella instead.
I could also be talking out of my ass, and complaining about nothing, I just didn't connect with the two previous books as I did with this final book of ‘Sinners’.
Here Miki got a definite ending to his story and it was GREAT!
It is kind of weird though, since I didn't actually miss anything in regards to his life, and I enjoyed seeing him in the other books in this series, but never actually questioned his past or the lack of an ‘ending’ for him.
I just enjoyed the first book and Miki’s amazing grit! As described in my review of that story I DID miss that somebody or Miki himself made sure he got some help, here I’m thinking about the abuse and Miki’s very real problems in living a fearless life.
And in this one Miki finally got help, which I applaud to the moon and back.
I also really enjoyed Miki and Kane’s relationship; I love that they bicker and fight and argue, but at the end of the day they are 100% in each other’s corners.
The reason this was not a full 5-star-read, is the amount of analogies used (it IS Rhys Ford, but sometimes it becomes a bit much for me), the thing where Miki starts calling Donal 'dad' (I don't know if it's a cultural thing, since I get that Americans use that expression for FILs, it just reads REALLY weird to me, since we don't do that in Denmark or as far as I know in Scandinavia) and then: SERIOUSLY, do not read this spoiler if you don't want to know what happens in regards to the mystery, I'm SERIOUS!
All in all though this was a really great MM-mystery-romance and I FUCKING adored Miki and his determination. He will fight -physically and verbally- with whatever is not bolted down if you attack him; there are no victims here!
Great ending to a story I hadn't actually missed an ending for, but reading about Miki and Kane is no hardship!
SHIT I almost forgot: MAJOR props to Miss Ford for writing full songtexts and including them, even though she 'only' used a verse or two as an intro to some chapters!
That is hardcore work and pretty amazeballs!

Rhys Ford is definitely one of my "automatic buy" authors. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that I am a very big fan of the "Sinners" series and especially of the first book "Sinner's Gin". Miki stole my heart the minute I met him, he will always be my favorite !! So when I saw we were gonna get some more Miki and Kane, ... I jumped for joy ;)
Now, I promised a "no spoiler" review, so I am gonna keep this simple. This books starts right after "Absinthe of Malice" . The focus of this book is mostly on Miki and his past. It shows us a lot more of who Miki really is, which is one of the reasons I loved it so much. It gave me so many feelings, because if anyone deserves to be happy it's Miki !!
Of course we still get our bit of mystery and suspence....
With this book we have come to the end of this series. I'm a bit sad about it, yet I am also very happy to see all of these wonderful characters have their HEA. It's such a double feeling.
This book should not be read as a stand alone. No worries though, it's an awesome series and if you like some mystery and suspense with your romance, you are gonna love these books ;) I highly recommend it !!

Why I adore Rhys Ford even though she made me cry...
Actually, it's more like 'Why I freakin' adore this author' even though she's bringing one of my absolute favorite series to a close and she made me cry.
Now before I begin let me just say I am going to ramble and probably go on a bit more than necessary here but seriously can you blame me this is one of my absolute favorite series...I adore the characters of 'Sinners' and yes, I have to say characters because this isn't just about the men. It's about all of the characters who have graced the pages of these stories and some of them aren't necessarily from the 'Sinners' series or even from a Rhys Ford series at all and that's part of what's made this all such a wonderful adventure.
I wish I could say that I'm sorry to see this series end...ok, I can say this but I can also say that I love that Ms Ford is taking these boys out on a high note. I would rather see an author end a series with me wanting more than with me thinking "Oh please lord can this be done now." you see I'm one of those people who has to finish what they start and it may take me some time to get around to it but eventually I do my absolute best to cycle around to a series and catch up or finish reading the books and to me if I'm left feeling like I want more but knowing that things are complete well than that's a job well done.
I admit I'm hoping that we'll get a peek here and there at some of the characters from this series maybe in another of Ms Ford's stories or who knows maybe someone will pop up in a Mary Calmes series who knows who will run into who with these authors and who wants to the fun is in the surprise.
But that's enough postulating about what might be for now, let's talk about what is or was...'Sin and Tonic' is the last story in the 'Sinners' series and for me it was one hella' good roller coaster ride. There was so much that I loved about this book. We got bits and pieces of everyone Rafe and Quinn, Forest and Conner, Damien and Sionn, Brigid and Donal and of course Miki and Kane.
This one's due out in 5 days, Sinners fans and it's going to be worth the wait. I laughed and cried and sometimes I was laughing and crying simultaneously because I just wasn't sure which I wanted to do more.
Like I said back at the beginning I love all the characters of Sinners and while Quinn and Rafe are probably my favorites even I have to admit no one deserves happiness more than Miki St. John. He's been through hell and back and he more than deserves it...he's damned well earned and he's earned a world of love...

"I'm sure the dog cares, just in his own way," she said with a laugh.
to Edie, their manager...
"Now do you understand why you need me?" She'd said to the shocked band members. "You just lost an argument with the person who is willing to go to the mat for you. Imagine how far you'll get when you go head-to-head with somebody who wants to bleed you dry?..."
to Donal...
"Then maybe what ye need to hear from me is that no matter who comes into your life, I will not let them hurt ye, and I will always be there when ye call out for your da."
to Brigid...
...So this time, when a pair of red stilettos beat on the floor like the drums of war, they were summoning the heavens to come protect him--a son she found rather than a son she'd borne.
and everyone in between...but ultimately there is Kane...
"...You mean more to me than my badge and the dead. I love you. And if I have to, I would give up everything I've become--everything I've accomplished--just to hold you if you need me."
So yes, I laughed, I cried and my heart ached for all that was but ultimately in the end I was replete with the answers to so many questions and the knowledge that not only had Miki gone through hell but he'd come out the other side stronger and surrounded by love. Most of all I loved that while this is the ending for this series for Miki, Kane and the rest of Crossroads Gin and their partners it's just another bend in the road.
I know I'll be revisiting this series and I'm already looking forward to it especially on audio. I very unashamedly admit more than anything I want this one on audio and I've got my fingers crossed that like the rest of them Tristan James will be the narrator who once again brings these characters to life for me.
It's been a hella' good ride with this series and I really can't think of anything more to say other than if you haven't read it check it out because you really don't want to read this one without having read the previous books and if you've read those books then I can't imagine that you won't love this final installment in the 'Sinners' series.

Coming to the end of a series I love is always a little bit bittersweet for me and I do love this series. I'm not afraid to admit I finished Sin and Tonic with both tears in my eyes and the silliest of grins on my face. Ah, Miki.
Sin and Tonic is the book where Miki St. John finally lets himself be happy. Oh, it's not as easy as that, I mean, how could it be? Miki has always been more than a little feral and barely house broken. He's not one to go quietly anywhere, much less into his happy ever after. But he wants it. He really wants it and he's finally ready to face his demons so that he can get that happy, and the entire Morgan clan is right there beside him. Gah! Miki and Kane just make me so damn happy.
Lots of loose threads get wrapped up, here, amidst the suspense part of the plot and we finally learn about Miki's past. Not just his childhood, which we already knew the tragedy of, but where Miki really came from. It's as heartbreaking as you would expect, but we learn some good, too, and Miki finally gets some long overdue closure so he can finally embrace his future.
Fans of this series are going to love Sin and Tonic, I have no doubt. I want to go back and reread the whole series, just so I don't have to say goodbye just yet.

5 STARS OF PERFECTION
When I first started this series, I didn't love it. However, after rereading many multiple times it has grown into love. This book brings much needed closure to Miki's tragic past. It also brings back the rest of the characters from all the previous books. I laughed, and I cried many tears. It was just perfect in my eyes, and I'm sure I will be rereading it soon. I really hope we get some more books from this fierce and loving family!

Sin and Tonic
is the direct sequel to, and picks up after,
Absinthe of Malice
. When details from Miki's past come forward it's everything Kane can do to investigate and try to keep Miki safe. Miki has some deeper introspection in this story and works through a lot to get through to the (spoiler!) happy ending.
Secrets, lies, murder, attempted murder, crises - they all play a role in Sin and Tonic.
There's a lot more self examination and soul-searching here than I was expecting, and far less of the rest of the cast of characters we all know and love than I was hoping for, and quite a few frustrating (for me) time jumps and anecdotal reveals as well. It also felt like it took a bit for Ford to reach her stride with the story, but once she hit the sweet spot the story flowed well.
It feels like the series has come full circle from Sinner's Gin with even the title being a wink and nudge to book one that introduced us to Miki St. John and the love of his life, Kane Morgan.
The others (Damie, Sionn, Forest, Connor, Quinn, Rafe, Donal, and Brigid) are sprinkled throughout, sometimes only briefly, sometimes for a truly heartwarming moment...
...but, really, this is Miki and Kane's happy ever after and it's bittersweet to see the end of a series I've loved.
Luckily, I can revisit my favorite characters again and again in print or audio even if there's no new stories to come.

As much as he lay exposed, his emotions raw and his heart splayed, Kane was right there with him. They fit into each other, giving as much as they took.

I can’t figure people out and I never know what to say, but Kane doesn’t care. Sure, I fuck shit up between us all the time, and sometimes he does too, but we work it out.” Miki let go a real laugh, a short burst of bubbling humor breaking free of the receding shadows. “He’s there. Steady. Constant. He’s my rock. My fucking cop. Sometimes he’s there too much because he’s that guy who’s got to fix things, and I have to shove him back once in a while so I have room to breathe, but that’s okay. We’re okay.
There's a lot more self examination and soul-searching here than I was expecting, and far less of the rest of the cast of characters we all know and love than I was hoping for, and quite a few frustrating (for me) time jumps and anecdotal reveals as well. It also felt like it took a bit for Ford to reach her stride with the story, but once she hit the sweet spot the story flowed well.
It feels like the series has come full circle from Sinner's Gin with even the title being a wink and nudge to book one that introduced us to Miki St. John and the love of his life, Kane Morgan.
“I love you above all others,” Kane whispered—or maybe shouted—into Miki’s ear. It was hard to hear amid the rush of blood through his veins and the final throes of his release, but Miki felt Kane’s words, taking them into his heart. “I will always be yours. Always.”
The others (Damie, Sionn, Forest, Connor, Quinn, Rafe, Donal, and Brigid) are sprinkled throughout, sometimes only briefly, sometimes for a truly heartwarming moment...
“I love you like I’ve loved no one else. I would die without you. And see, you’re made of better stuff than I am because you kept going after I was gone.” Damien pulled Miki toward him until they sat together, tangled around each other as they had done years before when life had been both harder and simpler. “I’m glad Kane found you. And I’m fucking happy as hell he loves you. If there is one thing I know about you, Sin, it’s that you are the fiercest, most loyal feral asshole I’ve ever met, and I am proud as hell to call you my brother. And if you need me to hold you up—for as long as you need me—I’m here. I will always be here. Just like Kane, the band, and the rest of your crazy family.”
...but, really, this is Miki and Kane's happy ever after and it's bittersweet to see the end of a series I've loved.
Luckily, I can revisit my favorite characters again and again in print or audio even if there's no new stories to come.
Thank you Rhys Ford for introducing me to the Sinners crew and the Morgans. ❤️❤️❤️

And so it comes to an end! I’m sad to see the Sinners series go, but I’m so happy with how Rhys Ford wrapped it up.
‘Sin and Tonic’ picks up a few months after book #5. Miki’s the happiest he’s ever been. The band’s doing well, the Morgan family is smothering him with familial love, and, most importantly, Miki and Kane are still head-over-heels in love with each other.
The only thing that threatens Miki’s perfect life is the mystery of his past.
Throughout this series, there’s been one major unanswered question - where did Miki St. John really come from? Book #6 finally gives readers answers, and they explain so much about Miki’s life and the man he became.
I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will say that this was a wild ride from start to finish. In true Rhys Ford fashion, there is never a dull moment. This is definitely a nail-biter of a book! With each new twist and turn, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next.
In the midst of the drama and as new secrets are revealed, Miki’s pushed to the brink. It was awful to see what he goes through, but Miki ends up stronger and happier for it in the end.
And throughout it all, Kane stands right by Miki, a solid rock for Miki to lean on. Kane and Miki have been a done-deal since book #1. This final book doesn’t add anything new to their relationship, but is instead an affirmation of the love the two men have for each other.
I loved seeing how all the two needed to feel whole and centered again was to reconnect at the end of the day. Mike and Kane are two halves of a whole, and they’re truly each other’s home.
And of course, there’s also the Morgan clan and their extended family. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of that big Irish family and all the love they bring!
Overall, this was a great end to the Sinners series. It has everything that makes this series one of my favourites - an enduring romance, well-rounded characters, an entertaining mystery with lots of action, and strong themes of family and healing. I can’t recommend this series enough!

It took me a few days to finally finish this book. Not because it was bad, but because life kept getting in my way when all I wanted to do was read dammit! But I'm really sad this is the end of Sinners. I want more...no I need more of these Morgans. They are absolutely perfect heroes in my mind. They are so swoon-worthy and they love with all their heart and soul.
Poor Miki. He finally gets some closure to where he came from and who. It was rough and sad. I spent a good deal of the the time crying for Miki. He had so much anger and hurt wrapped up tight. But true to the Morgans, they were there for him every step of the way. I finally got my wish where Miki accepted Brigid as a mom and someone he could lean and depend on. And Donal...oh that man. He melts my heart every time he speaks to one of his kids. And they are all truly his kids and he their da.
I have to say I was a little disappointed Rafe and Quinn didn't get some more on page time. I realize this was about Miki and his closure but I missed more of Rafe and Quinn in book 5 and was hoping to see them a bit more here.
The epilogue was the perfect ending to this series. It truly shows how far Miki has come from that scarred, hurt man who answered Kane's knock complaining about his wood stealing dog. Beautiful.

It’s only fitting that the series should end as it began. This last Sinner's book is Miki's well-deserved happy ending, where he comes to terms with his past and does everything he can to secure the future he wants with the man he loves. Of course it's not going to be a smooth road, we know carrying over from Absinthe of Malice that someone is after Miki and the danger is following everywhere he goes.
While there is plenty of action and police work here, the heart of the story is more focused on Miki’s thoughts, feelings and concerns. Miki’s mind is a beautiful and scary place and the way Rhys Ford writes it had me all wrapped up in him. Worrying, for him, happy for him and wanting more. There are also the heartfelt conversations with his brother Damie, Kane and Donal, the three people that Miki loves most in his world. I lost count of how many times I teared up during this book, but I also laughed and had to fan myself on more than one occasion because there is also plenty of romance. Underneath the bad ass cop, Kane is such a romantic, not afraid to express his love for Miki, and Miki brings him to his knees every time.
I also have a huge soft spot for the relationship between Miki and Donal and most of the aforementioned tears came out every time the two men had time together on page. I absolutely adore how much these two have bonded. From Miki’s feral beginnings, like a stray cat hiding under a bed, Donal, with his quiet strength, has coaxed him out to become another son who trusts and seeks the guidance and comfort his Dad is always there to give.
We learn all about Miki’s past right along with him. Of course, not everything is what he expected, but I liked the way it all played out. A lot of loose ends from the series are tied together, but not all tied up in a perfect shiny bow. Everything is the way it should be in the end.
The rest of Crossroads Gin and the Morgan family are all represented and there are also some other cameos, but the focus is squarely on Miki, whose growth as a character from the first page of Sinner's Gin to the last page of this story is what makes for great series reading.

Liked getting Miki's full story and seeing resolution for him and the fact he finally accepted some help. Miki and Kane continue to be feisty, strong and great together. But I did feel some of the other Morgan's were lacking. Don't know if I'm being greedy knowing this is the last book in the series but I wanted some more of the others.
Find it hard to consider the book for it's own worth as it's a rounding up of the series. Books 1-4 though connected can be judged on their own, 5 a snapshot progress of the band and this one to finish the story. Anyone who has fallen for this series is going to need to read the book. It's that bittersweet case of having to grown to love these guys and this book signalling the end of that - until next re-read of course ;)

What a journey we have had with Miki St John.
It is fitting that the final story in this series belongs to Miki and without giving any spoilers I can say that Rhys Ford answers many questions for Miki and ourselves and although it will be hard to say goodbye to these characters the story has a natural end in a tale full of hate, retribution and violence but also enduring love and laughter.
Rhys I salute you. I hope some of these guys will have cameos in some of your other books.

Does anyone know who did Miki's tattoo?
If you've read this series and specifically this book than you know what tattoo, I'm talking about. But if you haven't I'll just share with you that Miki St. John has a tattoo and it's not pretty...actually it's a reminder of the life that he lived as a child. A life that no child should ever have and through out this series we learn about that life and the lives of those who have come to be Miki's family but it's here in the final book of Rhys Ford's 'Sinner' series that we get the answers to so many questions. Questions that have led me from story to story looking for the answers only to have one question replaced by another whenever an answer has been found.
I've loved this series heart and soul from start to finish so much so that I've read it all...more than once and when that wasn't enough I turned to the audio books for more and that my friends is what has me clicking away on my keyboard right now...I mean really how could I resist the chance to follow this last part of the journey one more time...with Tristan James once again bringing the men and women of 'Sinners' to life...the answer is 'I couldn't'. Mr. James has been the narrator for these stories from the beginning and along with the fact that he is absolutely one of my favorite narrators having the same narrator for every one of these stories has been so incredibly delightful. I couldn't imagine a better audio experience than this.
I'm going to borrow from my original review of this book at this point just to highlight how much I enjoyed this series and how absolutely delightful it is to listen to the voices that Tristan James has given to the characters in these stories and have that automatic recognition of who you're listening to because it's been the same narrator from the very beginning...
So imagine if you will hearing these quotes being not only spoken by the characters but in a voice that you effortlessly recognize because you've heard that voice in each of the previous stories and it's always been the same voice...
if reading these words left me reaching for the tissues than have no doubts that I was sitting once again with tissues at hand as listened to them in the voices that I've come to think of as Brigid, Donal, Miki and Kane's.

Rhys Ford blends mystery, suspense, romance, and action together in Sin and Tonic the direct sequel to Absinthe of Malice.
When details from Miki St. John's past come forward it's everything the love of his life, Kane Morgan, can do to investigate and try to keep Miki safe. Miki and Kane deal with an abundance of secrets, lies, murder, attempted murder, and crises while finally answering some questions readers have had since the series beginning. But Miki and Kane weather it all together.

Tristan James always does such a fantastic job bringing these characters back to life with each installment in the audios. I’ve said it before, and I'll keep repeating it, Tristan James takes something already great and makes it even better through his narration by performing the action, introspection, and sexy times equally well. James also keeps the varied character voices easy to pick out and follow and performs this all so well – it's a treat to listen to.
While it's bittersweet to see the end of a series I've loved, I'm glad to know Miki and Kane will continue to live happily ever after and I can visit the Morgan family and Sinners crew again in print or audio whenever the mood strikes.
Sin and Tonic is not a standalone, but if you like angsty action packed mysteries with sexy times, strong men, and their even stronger love for one another, you should think about grabbing this series.

May 15, 2018Sin and Tonic is the culmination of Rhys Ford’s fabulous Sinner’s Gin series and, as is fitting, we are back to where we started with Miki and Kane. Even though this series each features stories for the Morgan brothers, Sinner’s Gin has always felt like Miki’s series to me and he and Kane are the heart of these books. So I loved that here we get some closure on Miki’s past, as well as moving things forward between the men and really seeing the connections that have grown between Miki and the Morgan family.
The mystery/suspense side of things in the book is a little quieter than in others in the series, but we still do dig into the mystery of what happened to Miki’s parents, as well as dealing with someone who once again wants to see Miki dead. The truth behind his past turns out to be both tragic and fascinating and Ford does a nice job developing this side of things. I particularly liked how Kane must walk the line between his role as a cop investigating a murder and that of Miki’s partner learning things about his lover’s past in the course of the investigation. The case isn’t quite as high octane as in past books, but I found it interesting and Ford does a great job of tying the mystery side of things with the personal.
What really stands out for me here are the bonds that Miki has formed and the contrast between learning about his biological family and the connection he has with his bandmates and the Morgans. While learning about his past is important to him and brings him some closure, as well as hope for some future ties, what gives Miki the strength to deal with all of this is really the bonds he has with his found family. I love how Miki has come to accept the love and care from the Morgans, when that wasn’t always easy for him. Not only that, but how much he relies on them, particularly Donal. Sigh. Donal. I love him so much. And here we really see how he has become a father to Miki, how much he loves him, and how fiercely he will protect him. It is so lovely and seeing how far Miki has come over the course of the series is really rewarding.

Tristan James did a pretty decent job with the narration. Sometimes, it was difficult to differentiate between the various character voices but with the sheer number of characters he had to go through alone with his book, I totally understand how that can happen. Sometimes the "Book Gods" do smile down us and when we get to what is supposed to be the end of a series that we have really liked, with characters that are now our best friends...they smile down and hand us yet another installment. Just waiting to start 'Nother Sip of Gin book #7. Happy, Happy Camper here! In this one...#6, we have wedding bells at last. We have Miki meeting people he never thought would be a, or that he would ever want to be a part of his life. We have Miki finding that it's okay for him to leave his past behind and be happy with his new extended family and a promising future. This book is different from the rest of the series in that it's really a thriller/suspense book, and not so much about the romances/relationships of the Crossroad Gin boys. I really wasn't sure when I started this series if it was something that I would want to read more than one book...I am well past the rock band portion of my life...but I absolutely loved these guys, their significant others, and the rest of the Morgan family. I want to either kidnap or adopt the Morgan boy's dad.

I totally loved the first few books in this series, and re read the first tow recently,
Anyway I read this with Fra, whose review can be found here ,and while I loved seeing Miki get his HEA, and glimpses of the other characters lives , it felt dialed in at times, with overlong sex scenes and repetition on how good looking people were, I skimmed a bit.
It also suffered from an excess of Oirishness.
Anyway I read this with Fra, whose review can be found here ,and while I loved seeing Miki get his HEA, and glimpses of the other characters lives , it felt dialed in at times, with overlong sex scenes and repetition on how good looking people were, I skimmed a bit.
It also suffered from an excess of Oirishness.

I didn't want to pick this book up. At the same time I couldn't wait to pick this book up. It's the book I've been waiting for ever since I finished Sinner's Gin. It was going to give me (yes I'm selfish and only thinking about me and not Miki and Kane) the answers I've been looking for, for so long. But at the same time, this book also signifies an end. The need to say goodbye at the end of this book, and I just love these characters to death and never really want to say goodbye to them.
We are immediately thrown into the thick of things when a woman claiming to know Miki's mother meets with Edie. Only things don’t go as planned as the woman is shot right in front of their eyes. Searching for answers takes them back to the past and more danger than anyone of them could've predicted, as that past is leaving dead bodies in its wake and has its sights set on Miki.
Did I mention yet that Kane and Miki are my favourite couple in this series? The love they share is soo strong and deep that you can practically touch it. It's in every encounter, touch and word they speak and share. It's beautiful and all encompassing. It's that kind of love dreams and fairy tales are made from. If I were prone to swooning, this is the couple to make me do it.
We all know that Miki’s been through hell and has suffered so much more than anyone should have. Our hearts have broken countless times for what was done to him, so seeing him finally being ready to start dealing with his traumatic past and getting help to mend some of the broken pieces filled me with happiness. Watching him heal and finally accept being a part of a family, the Morgan family was definitely worth waiting for.
Let’s not forget Damie. The friendship between Miki and Damien is that kind of friendship everyone is looking for. Having that person that knows and accepts every little thing about you, gets behind those walls… Knowing that you have that one true friend that will stand with you no matter what. I get teary eyed just thinking about that kind of friendship. My favourite moment in this entire series is probably when the two are reunited in Whiskey and Wry.

I also have to mention Dude. The adorable terrier that lives with Miki – and started the whole series – and more than once stole the spotlight. Nice job Dude – and great match making!
I absolutely loved being back visiting, being a part of the Morgan clan once more. The answers I've been searching for where there and plentiful, but at the same time, getting those answers also means to say goodbye, and I really don't want to do that. So I will hold on to the hope that they will make a few visits in the 415 Ink series, so I can get a few more fixes and continue to hope for more of the Morgan clan.
Rhys Ford has with mere words created a magical, at times rambunctious, blue bleeding family that loves deeply and fully. Together they can overcome any obstacle that life can throw at them and are a force to be reckoned with and never to be underestimated.
Sin and Tonicwas at times bittersweet and I fully admit to being a bit teary eyed more than once while reading, but it was so worth it in the end. To share that hard won happily ever after, the joy of true happiness and love and family. Highly recommended!

This series.... it's been a roller coaster beginning to end. There has been so many highs and lows, we've loved and lost, mostly loved though. No doubt about it, Sinners has been an amazing series and one I'm sad to see end. I reviewed the printed version of Sin and Tonic back in May so I'm I'll try not to repeat myself too much. Or be as longwinded.
Anyway, this book is in a way about closure and answers, but also a beginning and starting anew. Ever since the first book there we had questions that were never really answered and this book neatly ties it all together - not without some major and sometimes dangerous struggles and effort. We find out about Miki's family, where he came from and how he ended up where he did. But more than that we see him starting to truly letting it go, taking steps to truly getting better. To move forward with his life. His life with Kane. His life with and a part of the Morgan clan. I loved how he took steps towards that family.
It's not a secret that Tristan James isn't my favourite narrator, or even on my top 10 list. But on the other hand he narrates some of my favourite books, or the ones I'm most looking forward to. So sooner or later I will pick up more of his narrations, and I'm gladly going to listen to them. He's not a bad narrator by any stretch of the imagination, for me he ends up somewhere in the middle of the scale. I love his voice, there's something comforting and soothing about it. But on the other and, James most often narrates (reads) in a very monotone way that for me makes it easy to drift off to somewhere else. My personal preference is when narrator performs the book and lives the story and with the characters. However that's not James’s style and I know that there are a ton of people out there loving everything James say and will have a blast listening to this book and not have the hang-ups that I have.
One thing that never fails when Tristan James is narrating is the brilliant accents, especially the Irish ones. He nails them every time and it adds another layer, and makes the characters so much clearer in your mind. He manages to give each Morgan a separate voice with a great accent to boot. And while he might not add much feeling or performance to his narration he still brings you the warmth of the Morgan clan to you. You become a part of it - whether you want to or not. You are brought to the fold by Donal and mothered by Brigid. Even Dude, the dog, comes through so clearly. No doubt about it, Tristan James is a talented narrator and I've enjoyed the hours I spent listening to this story.
So I couldn't quite manage to keep things short and to the point. But... this book.. there's just so much to say, to talk about. And I might possibly try to stretch things out so I don't have to say goodbye to these characters, this family just yet. Spending time with them these past 6 books have been a privilege and an honour. I'm grateful for every moment of it,

May 28, 2018aargh what to do with this book? This all series? On the one hand it is entertaining, romantic, action packed and altogether enjoyable. On the other it drips cliches about Ireland and the Irish and these have started to grate on my nerves considerably.
I wanted something light to read in the week coming up to the Irish referendum, so I suggested to Karen that we read this. It was, I think, a mistake. In the run up to an historical feminist shift in Irish society reading a book that relies heavily on usians cliches of Ireland was not a good call.
The good first: I am sorry to see these characters go but I do feel their narrative arc was fulfilled beautifully. As romances go this series had it all: likeable characters, a good balance of hurt/comfort, action packed stories and that great message that the family you make is as important - and for some more so - than the one you were born into.
I loved that Miki got his unconditional happy ending and I thought the way he is so vulnerable here but so determined to open up was really sweet.
I appreciated the little nuggets of glimpses into 415 and Half Moon Bay - I love when authors do that; and I enjoyed the chapters starts with little scenes from all other MCs in the series. So all in all one would say this is an excellent romance read BUT, BUT folks I can't with the stereotyping.
The Morgans and the Finnegans have to be the biggest Oirish families ever. They have "Lucky Charms accents" which is what? a stereotypical idea of what Irish people sound like to usians? They own/frequent "updated Irish taverns" Taverns? We have pubs and restaurants and gastro pubs but taverns? I think we may have left those on the set of "A quiet man". They say stuff like "Of course, I'm Irish, and I think having oatmeal for breakfast is a good reason to have a shot of whiskey" and shit like "I am not getting drunk. Just a little...Irish" First we call it porridge, second the implication that the Irish are this nation of happy drunks derby of gills needs to end. Alcoholism is a very serious problem and to romanticise an idea of a nation as full of them is just no, nope go away with your usian twee ideas.
Both family speak Gaelic - folks the Irish speak Irish, they don't say boyo all that often and are also capable of stringing sentences together without saying ye/yer every five sillables.
So you all see my dilemma - in a week where Irish women and men stood up to the rethorics about our nation, to the patriarchy and to the odious catholic church this amount of stereotyping really annoyed my head.

The last installment in the Sinners series is classic Rhys Ford. It has something special for fans of every couple. Miki’s happy ever after has been a long time coming and it was worth every minute of the wait.
Miki is one of those special characters who captured my heart the first time I met him and never let go. He has the perfect partner in Kane and I have grown to love him just as much. Who am I kidding? I love all the members of Crossroads Gin and their crazy Morgan – Finnigan loves. I am sad to see them go, but I know that I will treasure every glimpse or mention that Rhys gives us in the future.

Reviewed for Just Love.
The Sinners series is coming to an end, and I’m crying with sadness… but I’m also happy with happy endings.
When a series I love has to come to an end, I am always equally happy and sad. How can I be happy? Because sometimes a series goes on way to long to stay interesting. Sometimes a series can get so stale that it hurts to read and I end up cursing the author and publisher. I can think of two examples that I’ll not share with you. Thankfully, this series is one that has hit the end on a high note. So while I’m sad that I won’t get more of my favorite Morgan siblings, more of my favorite parents, more of one of my favorite dogs ever, or more of this fantastic suspenseful ride, I know that I can always revisit the awesome world that Rhys Ford has created.
I can’t say this is my favorite book of the series, but I liked it. There are some moments in the beginning when it felt that the story was not moving or hitting that pace that it needed to completely pull me in. Once the story got to that point though, it was quite the ride. I just wish it didn’t take as long for me to get there.
Favorite things? Miki has to do a lot of deep self reflection, make some choices about things he’s not wanted to face before, and ask for help… finally. Kane, Miki’s ever attentive boyfriend, is steady as always. Kane is the rock that Miki needs. Sure, he always needs his brother Damie, but Kane holds his heart. I think these moments when the breakthroughs take place are some of my favorites in the series. Also, Dude. Dude is one of the best dogs ever. There are a couple times when Dude is so epically protective of his Miki that I cheered out loud. I have friends that I know are going to message me the moment these times come up for them and I can’t wait for it. I’m full of anticipation for when my girls get to that one point where Dude… well, you get it. Dude is the shit. And of course Donal and Brigid… best parents ever. I want Donal to be my dad.
I enjoyed this a lot, despite not getting everything I’d wanted. I feel like I’ve been waiting longer than 2 years for this final story. But, while I like where it went and how things are resolved, I think I maybe expected there to be something even bigger regarding who was trying to kill Miki. I wanted more from the rest of his bandmates and their partners. Here’s the thing… this feels more like a fast rush to get to the answers of who is trying to kill Miki, a rush to explain it all, and a slow jog with everything else. Plus, some things are brought up with other characters that are never fully fulfilled or fleshed out, leaving me hanging and it bummed me out. Maybe there will be a short story later? I hope so.
I guess I have a lot of conflicted feelings about this one. I can’t say it was a favorite, and I can’t say it isn’t. What I do know is that I still loved a lot of things that I can’t even talk about because it would spoil the story. I’m guessing that I’ll love it more the second time, and even more when I listen to the audio. And maybe someone else out there will have more complete and organized thoughts on this. I know that’s not me, but this is how I’m feeling. And let’s face it, my reviews are all about how a book made me feel. In the end, this book made me fee a whole lot of love.

About a year or so ago a favorite author read Black Dog Blues and gave it a favorable review so I shrugged and said, why not. Little did I know that would eventually lead to binge reading everything written by Rhys Ford that I could get my hands on. When I found the Sinners series I fell in love with Rhys as a writer even more. Miki St. John is one of my favorite characters, period, and it's bittersweet to have this series come to an end.
First, I want to start with I believe in HEAs. That's what I want and so I read books that are going to give me that. I can wait it out and it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect but I am that believer in good things coming to those who deserve them and Miki St. John deserves all the good things. All. Of. Them. Second, I re-read all of the books (not the short stories, though) in this series last week so I'd be prepared for this book. I picked up a lot of things with the re-read that come together in this final book so I'm glad that I did that.
This series has a lot of elements that I enjoy in books. Mystery, check. Tension/suspense, check. Romance, check. San Francisco, check, check, and check again (seriously, I'd live there if I could although I'd probably complain about the damp and cold). Music, check (former band geek here!). Stories that are interconnected that show plot progression and character development, check and check.
Now for Sin and Tonic. I was excited for this book and worried too because if Miki didn't get an HEA my heart might break. POSSIBLE SPOILER - my heart did not break. Not that I wasn't worried a time or two.
The members of Crossroads Gin and their partners have had their share of trouble, but none more than Miki. His story begins with a horrible past and ends with him having a better understanding of who he is (I don't want to give anything away but Miki has a lot of concern that he'll lose himself in everything that has happened and is happening). Miki is grumbly and difficult but throughout the series he shows the most growth as a character, something that I think we can all relate to because real people grow - develop new ideas, habits, etc., so it works when a character in a book does the same. It's one reason to read a series with a MC that shows up regularly. Miki doesn't lose himself. In fact, he finds not only himself but his family, it just takes him awhile to get there. And it's a process that, if there were another book, would still be happening. Miki is doing better but it's not like his past is going away and I like the Ford doesn't try to undo or gloss over that in the series or in the final book. It takes a lot of strength to admit you need help and that's one of the best parts of this book because it's real, it's something people can relate to and it only adds to who Miki is and who he will become.
Re-reading the series helped to highlight family and how important it is to every member of Crossroads Gin and the Morgans. And not just the family you're born into. Family can be what you make and for Miki and his brothers, that's definitely true. Family's are complicated and Ford doesn't shy away from that. The Morgans aren't perfect. They butt heads, that's true. I only have one sibling and let me tell you, we fought a lot as kids but we still love each other. In fact, we have a better relationship as adults than we did as kids. My mom had 7 siblings and the older ones fought even as adults. But that doesn't mean they didn't love each other and won't stand up for each other. It's also true that people have crappy families. I know plenty of people who don't have the support of their families, but like Miki many of them have found a way to create their own. Found family is just as important as the one you're born to. That's probably the most satisfying part of this book - Miki's realization that he has the love and support of a family and that they're not going to leave him.
San Francisco is as much an important part of the series as the characters. Ford brings a known setting to life through casually pointing it out. If you're paying attention, you'll learn a little about the city. Granted, it's a real location so it's not like you have to do a lot of world-building but if you've never been to San Francisco you might not realize that it can be cold and damp. You might not know about the Bay, or Chinatown, or any of the things that make up San Francisco. I like that Ford built on something that's already there and brought out some of the details that make San Francisco, well, San Francisco.
There's also some gorgeous writing in this book, just really beautiful phrasing. And this time Miki gets described as a tiny dragon! Oh, and a passage about books that's swoon-worthy (yes, I'm the person who loves the parts of books when a character loves books/reading or says something awesome about books/reading).
If you're a fan of any of Ford's other series you'll dig the references to other characters/series (I caught references to two other series but there might have been more).
I probably have more to say but right now it's all squealing and sighing because I finished the book on the bus on my way to work.

First, I want to start with I believe in HEAs. That's what I want and so I read books that are going to give me that. I can wait it out and it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect but I am that believer in good things coming to those who deserve them and Miki St. John deserves all the good things. All. Of. Them. Second, I re-read all of the books (not the short stories, though) in this series last week so I'd be prepared for this book. I picked up a lot of things with the re-read that come together in this final book so I'm glad that I did that.
This series has a lot of elements that I enjoy in books. Mystery, check. Tension/suspense, check. Romance, check. San Francisco, check, check, and check again (seriously, I'd live there if I could although I'd probably complain about the damp and cold). Music, check (former band geek here!). Stories that are interconnected that show plot progression and character development, check and check.
Now for Sin and Tonic. I was excited for this book and worried too because if Miki didn't get an HEA my heart might break. POSSIBLE SPOILER - my heart did not break. Not that I wasn't worried a time or two.
The members of Crossroads Gin and their partners have had their share of trouble, but none more than Miki. His story begins with a horrible past and ends with him having a better understanding of who he is (I don't want to give anything away but Miki has a lot of concern that he'll lose himself in everything that has happened and is happening). Miki is grumbly and difficult but throughout the series he shows the most growth as a character, something that I think we can all relate to because real people grow - develop new ideas, habits, etc., so it works when a character in a book does the same. It's one reason to read a series with a MC that shows up regularly. Miki doesn't lose himself. In fact, he finds not only himself but his family, it just takes him awhile to get there. And it's a process that, if there were another book, would still be happening. Miki is doing better but it's not like his past is going away and I like the Ford doesn't try to undo or gloss over that in the series or in the final book. It takes a lot of strength to admit you need help and that's one of the best parts of this book because it's real, it's something people can relate to and it only adds to who Miki is and who he will become.
Re-reading the series helped to highlight family and how important it is to every member of Crossroads Gin and the Morgans. And not just the family you're born into. Family can be what you make and for Miki and his brothers, that's definitely true. Family's are complicated and Ford doesn't shy away from that. The Morgans aren't perfect. They butt heads, that's true. I only have one sibling and let me tell you, we fought a lot as kids but we still love each other. In fact, we have a better relationship as adults than we did as kids. My mom had 7 siblings and the older ones fought even as adults. But that doesn't mean they didn't love each other and won't stand up for each other. It's also true that people have crappy families. I know plenty of people who don't have the support of their families, but like Miki many of them have found a way to create their own. Found family is just as important as the one you're born to. That's probably the most satisfying part of this book - Miki's realization that he has the love and support of a family and that they're not going to leave him.
San Francisco is as much an important part of the series as the characters. Ford brings a known setting to life through casually pointing it out. If you're paying attention, you'll learn a little about the city. Granted, it's a real location so it's not like you have to do a lot of world-building but if you've never been to San Francisco you might not realize that it can be cold and damp. You might not know about the Bay, or Chinatown, or any of the things that make up San Francisco. I like that Ford built on something that's already there and brought out some of the details that make San Francisco, well, San Francisco.
There's also some gorgeous writing in this book, just really beautiful phrasing. And this time Miki gets described as a tiny dragon! Oh, and a passage about books that's swoon-worthy (yes, I'm the person who loves the parts of books when a character loves books/reading or says something awesome about books/reading).
If you're a fan of any of Ford's other series you'll dig the references to other characters/series (I caught references to two other series but there might have been more).
I probably have more to say but right now it's all squealing and sighing because I finished the book on the bus on my way to work.
(I received an arc of this book with the understanding that I would review on Goodreads and Amazon. This in no way changes my review, I was prepared to wait until the book was released to read it. I'm just glad I didn't have to).

Definitely my favourite in the series, only fitting since it's the last one. Miki is finally happy, his brother is back in his life, he's got a successful band, a family and he has love with Kane. But someone is trying to kill Miki and he has no idea why. In the course of the book Miki learns about his past, deals with the present and takes hold of his future - but of course none of it is easy!
The book is a direct sequel to #5, action starts pretty much where the previous book left off. We get to see Kane in action and the whole plot of finding out who's trying to kill Miki is just fantastic. There are some very touching moments between Miki and Damie and of course, Donal is being the best Da anyone could hope for.
A very worthy end to the story, this does such a good job bringing all the threads of Miki's life together and weaving us finally the full picture of who Miki St John is.

Going on the road with the new band Crossroads Gin was exciting. At least, it was for Damien, Rafe and Forest. But for Miki, there’s too many bad and haunting memories that start to smother him. He’s now feeling this is a mistake and he’s at a breaking point, where he no longer can hear the music. And as if Miki hasn’t had enough ups and downs in his life, the tattoo on his neck brings even more danger for him and the people he loves. But, at every bad moment for the band members, there’s a Morgan or a Murphy who always comes to the rescue.
As murder comes to the forefront and Miki’s life is surrounded by danger, Kane and Kel are in deep with the case and uncover some intriguing facts related to Miki. With the help of snarky Dr. Horan, Alex, Connor, Sionn, Donal, and so many familiar characters, forge on to keep Miki safe.
I felt this final journey—for Miki and Kane and all the returning characters—gave them a more in-depth portrayal. If this series were to continue, outside of most of the Morgans, I would want to see more about two outstanding secondary characters: Kel, with his loyalty and concern for Kane; and Dr. Horan, with the expertise that she brings to help solve cases. The writing and plot are outstanding, and it brought back many memories from the novels before. The mystery alone entrapped me with its suspense, danger, nail-biting tension and surprises.
I was absolutely intrigued with the Sinners series from the beginning, when Miki finds himself without his bandmates and the painful loss of Damien; with Kane and Sionn thinking they lost the loves of their lives when Miki and Damien are reunited; Connor finding he loves a man; and Quinn finding his forever crush. And the first performance of Crossroads Gin and going on the road. Of course, there’s the determination and motherly love of Brigid, and the rock of the Morgan family, Donal, and Kane along with the entire Morgan family, who rallied behind Miki at every step.
Even though this is the final story in the Sinners series, for Rhys Fords followers it will last forever. Through all the pain, grief, danger and love, Miki’s reality takes him from a life without family to more than enough family who will embrace and love him forever.

Loved this book so much! First of all Miki St. John is probably one of my favorite characters. You just plain hurt of him and all of the crap he's been through in his life. Having Kane is nothing more than he deserves. And while of course Kane is all sorts of awesome, he's still not Miki. I adore Miki. I love that this final book is really the completion of Miki's story. There's a lot here that Miki needed to address and deal with. This book really takes him on the path to healing and being all the stronger for it.
So with that being said, yeah this was such a good book. The threat to Miki is out there and Kane's in full on cop mode trying to figure out just who is attempting to kill the love of his life. Of course there's a lot packed into that and it's going to take Miki down a path to discovering more about his past than he ever thought he wanted to know. I felt for Miki and all the turmoil of what he was going through. I'm glad he got to work through it, but man there were some rough mental moments in there. Some of the best moments for me were Miki's relationship with Donal and I loved getting his moment with Brigid as well.
If I had one complaint about this book it's that I didn't get to spend enough time with the rest of Crossroads Gin (ok Damie makes more than a few appearances, but I wanted everyone.). But that's minor in the course of things. I know the other boyos are happy in their relationships, I just like seeing them all together.
My only other complaint is that it's over. I could live with Miki and Kane and crew for ever and never get enough. These guys are so great. Such a fantastic book and amazing series. This will be a re-read many times in years to come.

So! This is book 6 in the Sinners series and I would recommend that you at least read Sinners Gin (book 1) and Absinthe of Malice (book 5) before you read this one. You need to know about Miki and Kane from the beginning since this is the conclusion to their story. Actually, I take that back. Read them ALL, please! Not least because they are 4 and 5 stars reads from me, but because you need these boys in your life, you really do!
Miki is falling apart, and someone is trying to kill him. He finds out his mother's and then his father's name, and all hell breaks loose!
It's been a while (Dec 2016) since I read book 5 and I don't reread, but once I got going, it all comes back to you. Ford spins her tales like no other, and I LOVE her work. It just grabs you, and pulls you kicking and screaming, along for the very bumpy ride that Miki and Kane take you on!
I loved that Miki was finally able to ask for help, because that was a hard fought battle with himself. I loved that he was calling Donal (Kane's father) Dad. oh! I just LOVED IT!!! Loved that I did not see who might be responsible for everything, until it was revealed in the book. Ford has a way of keeping you on your toes!
Very VERY emotional in places, a little bit messy what with dead bodies and things, but so, so bloody awesome!
I can't say much, cos of spoilers and things but read it! Read them ALL!!
It's always sad, coming to the end of a MUCH loved series, but I *think* this actually might be my favourite of the whole series. And of course I want to LISTEN to this, because I really don't hear the voices right, and I NEEEEEEED Tristan James and the Morgan/Finnegan boys and girls in my ear one more time.
So, a very VERY fitting end, and I LOVED the epilogue! And I love love LOVED that Miki was finally able to share Kane a little with the world, more specifically, how much Kane means to him.
