His cherry is hers for the taking, any way she likes it...
Kim O’Halloran is on a break from dating younger men. Then her erotic art class instructor puts a sexy, intriguing male model in front of her sketch pad and whoa, nelly, does she really have to give up cougaring now?
Nah. No reason to be hasty.
Better—or worse—yet, she discovers the man she wants to sketch with her fingers is also a virgin. And he’s asking her to corrupt him a time or two hundred.
Mechanic and secret millionaire Michael Montgomery may only be in his mid-twenties, but he knows who he wants. Kim’s self-confident and funny and she’s exactly the right woman to make him take his needs…ahem…in hand. All of them.
Screw the lousy timing. Boundaries are obviously meant to be overcome—in the bed, on the couch or against the car. Kim doesn’t mind teaching him, in vivid detail, how to please a woman, but Michael intends to teach his commitment-phobic lover a few things about love.
This book was previously published before by Cari Quinn.
USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn grew up wanting to be a singer more than anything else. When she realized she probably wouldn’t be hired as the opening act for the Foo Fighters, she stopped singing and started writing. Now she happily writes about rock stars, MMA fighters, suited heroes, bodyguards and everything in between. And she blasts her music as loud as the neighbors can stand, because hey, she’ll always be a rock star in her own head.
She's also half of the duo Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott, as well as one half of the USA Today bestselling author Taryn Quinn, who writes steamy small town romantic comedies (among other things.)
An older woman on hiatus from dating younger men and a young man who is bound and determined to spend some time with her in all sorts of ways makes Drawn Deep one hell of an entertaining and sexy story by author Taryn Quinn.
So in this book it was all about the hero for me, sigh… Michael Montgomery is one of those heroes that makes you swoon and makes panties drop. He’s young (like make me feel like a pervert young) in age but wise beyond his years for a number of reasons. Most of all he has such a good head on his shoulders and he understands way more about the world than most people his age but on top of that he truly is a decent human being not to mention one hell of a dirty talker in training and quick to learn exactly how to please a woman.
I really wanted to love Kim O’Halloran but to be honest she kind of got on my nerves and there were a couple of times I wanted to whomp her upside the head. I get that she’s had a rough go in the romance department and that her life isn’t exactly what she wanted it to be but at times I felt that she took out her dissatisfaction with her life on Michael. However I also respected that she worried about Michael giving up so much being with someone her age and the fact that even though she didn’t want to she had some pretty deep feelings for him.
Sexual chemistry these two had in spades, from their sexy banter to their “gotta have it now romps” to their sensual quiet moments there was no denying their attraction and connection. Yes there was a big age difference and experience level but together they just meshed. Michael refused to let Kim try and scare him away and he turned the tables on her so many times that it was funny. I also loved that even though he was young he saw right through Kim’s plays to push him away and he just pushed back.
Passionate yet amazingly touching Dawn Deep is another well written story by author Taryn Quinn and proof that in love age is only a number.
Kim’s a jaded 39 year old woman who’s sworn off younger men. Until she sees 25 year old Michael, the nude male model in her art class. Oh and he’s a virgin...but not for long. Yay.
The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between
I need a (virgin) hero: Oh Michael. When you start off with your hero naked and ready to go, I’ll admit, you’ve captured my attention. Michael’s a sweet, responsible, old soul in an incredibly hot young body. He’s taken care of everyone he loves for his entire life, and he’s never quite managed to shed that last barrier. He’s almost too perfect (I really expected him to be more awkward), but he’s a solid beta hero.
Good dialogue: I love when I’m able to see characters get to know one another, to reveal those pieces of themselves that make them more than just the easy-road stereotypes of a cougar with a young, naive hero. Their conversations gave good insight on what makes these two tick. As they got to know one another, so did I, and it helped me buy into their love story.
Standalone HFN: This was the second book in this series, but the story wasn’t dependent on reading the earlier book. While the ending was more HFN than HEA, it felt believable and right for this couple.
Break out the trainers, she’s a runner: and yes, in the emotional and physical way. Kim’s pretty sexually confident at times, but also somewhat insecure, a little needy, and she drove me a little crazy. It was her reactions that frustrated me, and considering her history of dating younger men, her concerns about Michael’s age seemed a little off. I would have struggled more if there hadn’t been any indication as to why she has those insecurities, and there was some personal growth, even if it felt as if it all happened within a couple of pages, right near the end. Kim was on the edge, but I loved that she gives herself some solid advice and straightens herself out. It went a long way towards saving the ending for me.
No couple's an island: I would have liked to know more about Michael's relationship with Rochelle, and a little more his friendship with Rand. The art class set up their meeting, but nothing more came of it. It wasn't essential, but seeing their interactions with other people, perhaps even some disapproving of the age difference, might have helped me to understand Kim's concerns.
The Bottom Line (3.5 stars) I have a soft spot for old soul heroes like Michael. I liked this slightly bumpy road to romance, and I’d read more from this author, especially the earlier book in this series.

Kim is taking a hiatus from dating. However, that doesn't stop her from heavily eyeballing the sexy man posing for art class.
Yeah, Michael, the class model, recognizes the beautiful woman. Though it took him a minute or two as the last time he'd seen her two months ago, when he'd been on call and changed her flat tire, she was fully decked out, and definitely left a lasting impression.
As they begin spending more time together outside of the class since Kim finished her final one, the chemistry is definitely there. As are a few secrets Michael isn't sharing, including the fact he's a virgin and he doesn't want the older and experienced Kim to know. When he's able to convince her to a pleasurable arrangement only, their time together is intense and explosive.
But what happens when Michael's secrets are revealed? Can Michael and Kim work through all the obstacles between them? Will Kim, who gravitates toward younger men for sexual release, be able to overcome any reservations regarding something permanent with Michael? Is there a HEA for them?

On a purely personal note, I have to admit I didn't like the hero posing nude, and needing to be fully aroused to do so, when other women were present. In my opinion, as this book is the hero and heroine's story, she's the only one that should be seeing it. Yes, I understand the premise is why they're meeting, for the second time, but I wish it would've been done without him being naked and erect. Also, I wish he would've stopped posing nude after he and Kim started talking. Yes, I get that he had agreed to do it, but something could've been figured out so his happy place (haha, censors) wouldn't be out there for other women to see. I'm unsure if it was discussed whether or not he was completely stopping due to his and Kim's relationship, though I would hope so. Not to mention, I got a little overwhelmed with his numerous mental comparisons to what he had with his "ex." Just, honestly, I love this duo, but this book wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with the characters as a couple, and when you're reading a romance, that's a necessity. But please, try this book for yourself. They are both very talented authors, don't let my personal tastes stop you from giving this book a chance.

For some reason I was just not a fan of this book. I liked the first one better. I couldn't really care for either of these characters. Kim just seemed like a lite version of a domme and Michael was all kinds of dramatic with his weird thing with his previous older woman Roch and how she gave him very little in emotional and physical contact (he was still a virgin!) and then his hangup about not having kids because he took care of them but yet he's great with Hus siblings and their kinds.

She doesn't believe in commitments and he believes in love. Add that to the age difference and the whole virginity angle and Drawn Deep proved to be an interesting read indeed, one that I found myself liking a smidgen more than its predecessor. Michael was such a darling male main character and I think it was great that he was the one who was pushing for more from Kim. He was certainly more than he appeared to be and getting to know him was fun!
Just like the book before it, this second in a series was a fairly quick read, and one that had sweet and sexy wrapped neatly in an enticing package. And just like with Sara Carmichael before her, I wasn't a fan of Kim O'Halloran's either and found myself wishing Michael had fallen for someone who was far more worthy of his love and affection. I did like Michael and the overall story line, so I'm giving Drawn Deep 3.5 out of five possible stars. ♥

••••••••••
REVIEW: 3.5 stars--DRAWN DEEP is the second installment and novella in Taryn Quinn’s contemporary, adult AFTERNOON DELIGHT erotic, romance series. This is thirty nine year old cashier Kim O’Halloran, and twenty five year old mechanic Michael Montgomery’s story line. DRAWN DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Kim in book one-DIRTY DISTRACTIONS. Kim’s brother Ben and his fiancé Sara play secondary and supporting roles.
NOTE: DRAWN DEEP is a re-release of the same novella previously published by Cari Quinn
Told from dual third person perspectives (Kim and Michael) DRAWN DEEP follows the May-December relationship between cashier Kim O’Halloran and mechanic Michael Montgomery. Michael Montgomery is a millionaire, a mechanic, a part-time erotic model, and a virgin but meeting Kim O’Halloran finds our hero wanting something more than friendship-he wants to lose his virginity to the surly, combative, and confident older woman who approached him after their final erotic, art class. What ensues is the building relationship between Kim and Michael, and Kim’s battle between her heart and her head as it pertains to the twenty-five year old mechanic whose previous relationships were based on friendship alone.
DRAWN DEEP is a story of erotic romance wherein Kim O’Halloran is the aggressor in the relationship; a woman confident in her sexuality but uncertain and hesitant about the age different between herself and the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, seductive and intense.
When writing a confident woman with a strong personality there is a fine line between authoritative, bold and …..controlling b*tch. Kim’s personality straddled the line between confident and b*tch and in this I had a difficult time relating to and liking our story line heroine.
Taryn Quinn’s DRAWN DEEP is a spirited and engaging story line. The characters are passionate, playful and energetic; the romance is provocative and emotional.
This book was hard to rate - Sometimes I liked aspects of Heroine Kim, and at other times she was very unlikable. I liked her unapologetic sexuality, and willingness to explore in her life, but there were also times where she was chippy, acerbic and downright mean to those closest to her. Although she was older than the Hero by 14 years and is 39, she demonstrated often she was more emotionally immature than he was. She acted out a lot with much emotional see-sawing and mixed signals, that made it very hard to enjoy getting to know her, or relate to her, even to the end of the story.
She was also very self-centered, and saw her dealings with her brother, her supposed best friend and Hero Michael only from the viewpoint of what was good/ bad for her (sort of a High School mentality) – she lacked emotional generosity. She out of the blue blindsided them verbally snarking how the good things in their life are bad because what they are doing impacts her negatively, and she lashed out and projected guilt and blame on them. but then she followed up a few sentences later with ‘but you know I love you…’ Sorry too late, your real message came through first…
The start of the book is charming at times re: their flirting as they get to know one another, but the long delay in explaining Michaels’ back story created so many potential conflicts, and made for frustrating reading at times. His was an interesting history and character, and I really came to like him. Michael clearly had heart energy, and at times it was not clear to me why he would care for her, aside from the sex…
So yes the story delivers on the steamy side and delivers a HFN, but lacks the heart and charm of the other series by these authors: Lost in Oblivion, Found in Oblivion and Manhandled. For me the real interest in their story might start where this one left off, as they further mature and grow into the people they have the potential to be. Final Rating: 2.5 stars
Kim and Michael are hot! She's a woman dissatisfied with her life. He's the young, hot guy posing in her art class. When they get together, sparks are flying, hearts are tumbling...you know the drill. And yet, it's not all easy going because she's older than he and doesn't want to inflict herself on him, but he's got issues to deal with, too. So, as hot in the bedroom as they are, a relationship between the two is not going to come easily to them.
Drawn Deep has Taryn Quinn's trademark dirty talking, alpha guy, but with a heart. Kim is the one I had a problem with. Not that I didn't like her, because I did, but because she made a lot of questionable choices and I wanted to shake her sometimes. She held herself back so much and I could just see how much it was hurting Michael. Of course, he wasn't the easiest person to deal with, what with his own issues to deal with, but he seemed to handle his issues with much more grace than she did.
Still, Drawn Deep is hot, and sweet, and emotionally well drawn. Michael and Kim are both realistic and likable, and handle a difficult relationship the way the rest of us do: with some difficulties, and some issues, but ultimately, with love.
I enjoyed this so much more than the first book. I just fell in complete love and lust for Michael. Oh, man, was he someone I would love to have in my bed and be in his arms. He was so caring and giving and mature beyond his years. Kim definitely got lucky.
I think I need to sign up for an art class. Maybe I could find my very own Michael. *Wish me luck*
I just can't over how charming Michael was. He was a caregiver through and through...and so calm. Kim was a bit of a firecracker when it came to emotions. She had a tendency to be all over the place, but Michale turned out to be the yin to her yang. It was so sweet. He was so sweet! Gah!!! I just absolutely fell in love with that character.
I enjoyed Brad and Sarah's story in the previous book, but Drawn Deep is my FAVORITE!! It was funnier, sexier and truly captured my heart.

OMG this was so amazing. I loved the older woman/younger man story line. I loved this story and didn't want to put it down or for it to end. Kim was married once, did that, didn't workout, so now she's going for what she wants, so be it. Kim is independent, lives in the family home with her little brother and her best friend, who are also together. She is taking an art class and this class is having the first live male model. Micheal has been in a long-term relationship which ended two years ago. He lives alone in a mansion with his two cats. He works for a mechanic/tow truck business and once in awhile as an art class model. These two withhold things that they should of come clean with from the first time they shared a table in a cafe after art class. Kim and Michael are so hot together they could steam the wallpaper off the walls, if they had wallpaper.
Michael has no problem stating his relationship with Kim, “there is one potential problem, though.” Michael smoothed a hand down his crisp navy tie. “I’m having *** with your sister. If that’s a conflict of interest, better you know now so you can rescind the offer if necessary.” The man has no problem calling Kim out, “no,” Michael said, his voice scarcely more than breath. “I’m not. And if you think I’m going to let you snatch the first convenient excuse to end us, you’re mistaken.” I really liked this book, it was a quick read.
I read this book for the June #TBRchallenge theme: Favorite Trope. I have several favorite tropes but older woman, younger man is high on my list and Cari Quinn is one of my favorite authors so when I had to choose from Mt. TBR the choice was very easy.
It's been too long since I read a Cari Quinn and diving back into her work is always a pleasure.
I loved Kim! She's unapologetic about her sexual desires and I applaud that. She also knows she's not relationship material as she tends to break hearts and just move on once the sexual appetite is slaked. Emotionally she's not as confident as she is sexually. I also loved how Michael saw right through Kim and how underneath all the bravoure was a woman longing for someone to love and be with.
Michael remains kind of an enigma for a long time in the story as, except for his physical appearance and the facts that he is a nude model and had a platonic yet weirdly intense relationship with a much older woman who had died, you don't know much about him.
As in the first book in the series there aren't many secondary characters as the story really focuses on Kim and Michael. I loved catching a glimpse of Sara (Kim's BFF) and Brad (Kim's brother) from book 1 and having a look into their HEA.
The back stories, especially Michael's, are divulged slowly and in small increments but this didn't slow the pace at all. I really enjoyed getting to know both characters.
DRAWN DEEP is the story of two lonely, kinda broken people who find love with each other. It's sexy and emotional, a combination that always works for me.
Favorite Quote: Kim’s attention shorted out at the word arousal. Did Randall actually mean they’d be able to sketch Michael’s erection? Could she get a job being his fluffer? She’d work cheap, especially since it had been a while since she’d fluffed anything that didn’t reside in her own panties.
After reading the first book in this series i was eager to read up on Kim. This book is a decent second book as it follows the story of Kim, Sara's BFF and soon to be sister in law.
The story is not too bad but i find the situation a bit too coincidental. Michael is young, very rich, has a good character and is handsome. And he works so that he doesn't stay idle. And he's also a "inexperienced". Well, isn't that waaay too much like a mythical beast? For the story somehow it kind of works because this book is all about the ultimate female fantasy. A younger man who is an all around ideal. Who is not a a-hole and is not old enough to develop annoying habits and characters.
Expect insta-love between the MCs but the drama lies in Kim where she's still very much stuck in the "i don't do relationships" mode. Throw in a too good to be true young-hunk seriously going after her and she panics and does what a book-heroine who is a commitment-phobe does best - create shitty situations and unnecessary drama, then cut and run. Nonetheless, in the end Kim comes to her senses and realize that she's lucky to have found love in Michael and that they should have their own HEA.
Personally i am bored of the hardened "i'm not into relationships" heroine mentality, especially when the heroine starts making up bad situations and finds excuses to run. I just find it hard to relate to because i don't see the logic in it. But this is after all a story and there has to be some kind of drama as a turning point in the story so i'd give it a 3 stars only.
i loved this May December romance. Kim is a 39 year old store manager. She is a character from the first book in the series being the sister if the hero and best friend of the heroine. This story revolves around her own romance with a much younger man. Michael is 25. So a fourteen year difference. Both of them are in their sexual prime. And it shows in the heat that they give off. He has some surprises for her in the fact that he is very inexperienced in the bedroom. And she is shocked by this and then intrigued. I liked Kim. She has had some really tough breaks when it comes to love to the point where she doesn't want a relationship and has no illusions that love is in her future. She ends all her relationships when they start to get too serious. Deep down, I know it's because she totally afraid of getting crushed herself. Until Michael. Michael is hired by her brother's garage. He first meets Kim while changing her tire. No seriously, her actual tire. He sees her again while he's modeling for her sketch class. Oh, and he's nude and in full arousal, for art. She doesn't notice him the first time but certainly notices him the second. He is a loner. Not by choice necessarily, but by circumstance. He is the second oldest of nine and had to quit school to help take care of his siblings. From there he moves in with a much older woman who wants company in her declining years. He stayed with her even after he found out she was dying. At that young age. He has more maturity than most men I know. He inherits her home and her wish is for him to live there forever. He really doesn't have to work but wants to get out to be with people again. When Michael sets his sights on Kim, he doesn't know if it will go much farther than just fun but he wants it to. Kim has to come to terms with the fact that Michael wants to be with her, flaws and all. Love knows no age and that is what is beautiful about this series. It is wonderful to see the older woman get her hunk of man.
This book isn't necessarily what you might expect from the dynamic duo Taryn Quinn. There isn't one mention of a rockstar anywhere. I know, I know...they are more than just rock star romance writers with their stellar Lost in Oblivion and Found in Oblivion series, but in my mind that's where I put them. (Mind you, this is a re-release.)
In Drawn Deep we find two seemingly average people. Kim, being the long divorced, 39 year old gift shop employee leading a rather mundane life living with her brother and her best friend in the house they grew up in. And Michael, a 25 year old mechanic carrying the burden of a large family left behind by his father along with a few little secrets. The big age difference is the center of the story.
Michael and Kim meet in a life drawing class at the rec center where Kim is the student and sexy Michael is the subject. Michael soon recalls that his first time meeting Kim was a few years before when he worked road side assistance and she had a flat tire. Even then he felt an undeniable attraction to her and you are led to believe that he saved his virginity for her on the outside chance that they'd meet again. Still, he keeps this tidbit of information, along with a few other things, to himself until the time is right.
While the writing is good, this story did not hold my attention like the others do. I found Kim's behavior to be confusing at first (especially during their first night together) and frustrating and ultimately her character was not very likable. Constantly throwing mixed signals, too many times she reached for him then pushed him away. Reach then push. Reach then push. The blurb calls her "self confident and funny". I found her to be sarcastic and jaded and sometimes crass. What kind of guy is hanging around for that? Especially a hot 25 year old millionaire with his whole life ahead of him.
I think the idea was that Michael's character was intended to be wise beyond his years and Kim was meant to be seen as someone who needed to be reminded that she was still young and worthy of love and the age difference between them meant nothing. In the end, the story line and the sub-stories and coincidences were even too far fetched for an avid fiction reader like me.
I have been saying for years now that there needs to be an entire genre of older woman/younger man romances (maybe Mature Adult – MA? What do you think book industry??), while all along this book has been out there, showing Ms. Quinn is way ahead of her time!! This book is actually a republication of a book written years ago by the most talented Cari Quinn, so if you are already a long-time fan of hers, you may have already picked this one up that has had some editing (with the most excellent Taryn Elliott) and is being published under the pen name Taryn Quinn. If you have, you’ll enjoy reading it again, but if not, this is a little gem for an entire new generation of readers to discover. Now how awesome is the plot line for this one: Uninhibited older woman meets younger male nude model in art class only to discover hot model is mature and rich and a virgin!! Could this please be my life? A bit shorter than most, this book provides a great escape for about 5 hours. And if you have read the book before this titled Dirty Distractions (which you should) you will see the happily ever after of those characters continue to play out here. Make no mistake, you don’t have to read about Sara and Brad prior to reading this story, but it does make this world you are visiting all the richer for doing so. So here, Kim, Brad’s older sister and Sara’s best friend, finds a hot younger man, who has been a whole lot closer than she ever realized. While reading this you can expect some surprises: such as how Kim has met Michael before and didn’t realize it, and how Michael became wealthy; a little bit of drama: Big changes are afoot with Kim’s living situation and is she falling for this younger man; and a whole lot of hot sex! I think this may be Ms. Quinn’s specialty! Bottomline: Definitely a great one to pick up when you are in the mood to escape reality.
This book was sent to me by the author for a review. I really enjoyed reading Kim and Michael's story. It quite refreshing to read a story where the roles are reversed, it is an older woman dating a much younger man. Michael catches Kim's eye when he models for her art class. However, she had already caught his eye a couple of months ago while out on a call. Even though she comes onto him, she doesn't quite know what to do with him. She feels like he is isn't being honest about his age and she doesn't want to be with someone who is too much younger than herself. After he brother kicks her out for the night, she ends up going home with him. It's not until the next day when she finds out exactly how much younger he is than her, she is convinced her is a liar and untrustworthy. He tries to convince her to give him another chance, even though he is keeping his condition a secret from her. After she finds out his secret, she freaks again and decides that she isn't going to have anything to do with him anymore. Her brother ends up messing that up for her unknowingly. After that, I just loved the interaction between the two of them and how blunt and honest Michael is. I loved what his condition was before accepting a promotion from her brother's work. I can understand her insecurities with being such a much younger man, but she shouldn't tell him how he feels or that he doesn't know his own feelings or thoughts. Having been in another committed relationship with a much older woman, Michael knows what he wants and doesn't intend to let anyone stand in his way of getting. The only complaint I have is that it is too short and an epilogue would have been nice to see how their future turned out

This is the second book in the Afternoon Delight series and you don't need to read the first one to enjoy this (although, it's a really good book). I will say that this book seemed to be a bit of a departure from what I'm used to reading by these authors.
Kim is a 39 year old divorced woman. She owns a gift shop and is taking art classes. Michael turns out to be a 25 year old millionaire who poses nude for the art class while working for an auto body shop as well. Michael is modeling for her class when he realizes that he's seen her before and she's been a part of many dreams for him. I will say that it took me a while to get into this book but I'm glad I kept reading. Kim has many issues to overcome and while she's living with her blissfully happy brother and his girlfriend (aka Kim's best friend), Kim is still reeling over her split from her husband. While she finds Michael incredibly attractive, she doesn't want to get involved with a younger man. It turns out he's even younger than he pretends to be. While Michael's young, he has a past and is wise and experienced beyond his years (and I don't mean in the bedroom) although you would never know. I loved how blunt and real Michael was. It was refreshing to see someone so open. He had a lot of patience and new how to work Kim to help her get over her concerns. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. When the two characters get together, there's definitely heat and passion. When these two authors get together, it's always a good read!
When in an art class and presented with a male model to draw that is mesmerizing, how can you not be even a tiny bit interested? Kim and Michael meet in this art class although no words are exchanged, but after two nights of drawing this amazing specimen an outside encounter is inevitable! Kim and Michael are destined to meet, and I love that it took them a few encounters to actually have a conversation with each other.
There is undeniable chemistry between the duo, yet a little bit of mystery that makes you wonder... how is this going to play out? Kim is a strong, independent and enigmatic woman that Michael is determined to get to know. Michael is the epitome of a man that wants to serve and take care of his woman. Reading how they two fight their desires towards each other is brilliant. The fighting only makes the coming together that much more exciting!
When you know, you know and Michael knows that Kim is the one for him, even though Kim doesn't know it yet. The way that these two characters are written give me a sense of hope that there are men out there that take care of their woman and do so out of instinct and an innate love for her. Kim is fortunate to have that without even knowing that she craves or needs it. Taryn Quinn is brilliant when it comes to characters like Kim and Michael. The road for them is intertwined with laughs, arguments, happiness, anger and a whole lot of sexual tension and witty repertoire; what more could a reader as for!
Kim O'Halloran is 39 and in an art class called Mastering the Art of the Erotic Technique which has been a disappointment up until a gorgeous male model comes into the class. The problem is that Kim has decided to give up dating younger men.
Michael Montgomery is a male model with his eye on Kim. When the two go for coffee after class he is prepared to do whatever it takes to sway Kim to give him a chance at showing her what they could have together.
But Kim doesn't do very well with lies and soon enough Kim has got Michael in one too many. Will she give Michael a chance despite what has happened or will she use her age as an excuse for the two to split for good?
I enjoyed this book and i really liked first discovering Kim in Dirty Distractions. She is having a bit of a mid-life crisis after getting divorced and having to start over.
I loved that Michael was a virgin but after hearing about his family I completely understand why! I can't imagine growing up in the environment that he did with so many siblings. He was holding on for the right woman and had no pretenses about age. I also enjoyed his relationship history with Rochelle as it was definitely an interesting part of his life.
I loved that he was so willing with Kim and gave no indication to her about his innocence yet you could see little bits of it coming out when they finally had sex.
I loved that Michael just stuck to his guns yet didn't seem pathetic while waiting for Sara to make her decision and I loved the whole scene at the end starting with her driving by Michael's place.
Note: This ARC was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book once before, and it was just as good the second time. (from a new publisher and under a new pen name)
I love me some Alpha heroes, and it's so VERY rare that an author gives us a VIRGIN Alpha. It's true, even though Kim is assertive and bossy, Michael makes sure she knows exactly where he stands.
Our main characters: Michael, the man with so many facets he'd be an impossibly cut gemstone. Selfless, blunt, charming, and even a little melancholy, he's a man that only lets you see him in stages, and on his own timeline. Not because he wants to be mysterious, just because.
Kim is the woman who's just had it with men. They all have agendas and they're all assholes. ALL. OF. THEM. Especially this guy who hasn't been up front with her from day number uno. She has absolutely zero time for game playing, but for some reason, Michael pushes all the right buttons to pull her back in.
They come to a mutual agreement that keeps their relationship on a surface level, which is more than fine with the both of them. Of course, we read romance novels, and we know where that's gonna end up, right?
A nice quick, light, frothy, HOT read. I give it a SOLID 3.5 stars.
This is a story about Kim, an older woman who has been hurt a few times that she nows outwardly portrays herself as someone who cares about nothing except maybe herself. She takes charge with her love life and usually "dates" younger men. She is no longer looking for that commitment or attachment. She's protecting herself. Michael is a 25 year old who has taken care of his siblings(there are nine of them) and mom since his dad passed away. When he does leave home it is for a woman whom he cares about and who cares about him just not in the same way. He takes care of her as she is dying. Michael wants to find someone who will help him explore the world that everyone thinks he is familiar with but really has little experience with. Kim and Michael are seen by the world around them as people that they really aren't to some extent. When Kim and Michael hook up they both realize this may be a little more than just a passing thing. That excites and intrigues Michael and scares Kim completely. This is a sweet love story with some hot sexy scenes. You'll relate to Kim's fears and you'll want to wrap Michael up and take him home. No need to read book 1. I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.
Drawn Deep is a fast, fun, steamy book. I love that Kim is an older, more experienced woman. It did take me some time to warm to her character, as she comes across as abrasive at times. However, I started to enjoy the many sides to her and her humour once I realised that this was her defence mechanism to avoid the hurt she experienced in her past. Once she starts to open up to the possibility of a relationship, we see the funny caring side of her and there were laugh out loud moments. Michael is a sweetheart, a fast learner, definitely eager to put his new found skills into practice and boy are those scenes hot! It's very well written with an engaging storyline. I enjoyed this book for what it is. A light, funny, touching at times, sexy read.
Although it is book 2 of Afternoon Delights, it can certainly be read as a standalone. Characters from book 1 make an appearance and it's great to catch up with them if you have read that book but if not, it doesn't affect your understanding of Kim and Michael's story.
This story is a refreshing change of pace from the usual romance about a twenty or thirty-something couple. Kim, an older, experienced woman, wants to enjoy no-strings sex with younger men. And Michael, a considerably younger man with very little experience, wants to change that status.
These two are immediately drawn to one another. Kim is a confident, sexy, independent woman who knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it. Michael is a hot, honest, all-round good guy who quickly falls for Kim as she teaches him exactly how to please a woman. He’s a quick study, soon learning how to play Kim’s body like a master musician while uttering the most delicious dirty talk.
Drawn Deep is a fast-paced, clever, fabulously sexy read that sucked me in right from the start and ended much too quickly. I fell in love with Kim, Michael and every incredibly erotic scene. And there are plenty, trust me. You absolutely won’t want to miss this one. It’s my favorite Taryn Quinn book to date.
This is a quick and dirty read. Michael is young and Kim...well, she is not. Kim tends to gravitate toward younger men. She also likes to love them and leave them. Until Michael. Michael has many responsibilities. He is one of 8 siblings. His father passed when he was young so he stepped up to help his mom raise the others. When he was 18 years old he met Rochelle. She was much old than him and enticed him to live with her and take care of her through her dying days. Michael is a very responsible guy and took his role as caretaker very seriously and was rewarded greatly for his service. But this left him very sheltered. It left him a virgin at 25 years old. Kim unknowingly became his first. Michael is a VERY good student but Kim was not sure if she wanted to be his teacher anymore. There is a lot of push and pull between them. Read this great short read and see what becomes of these two! HEA Stand alone. Part of a series but it is not necessary to read the first in the series to understand.
Drawn Deep is book 2 in the Afternoon Delight series. Yet it is a standalone. Although, I thoroughly enjoyed both books in this series so far.
Kim is 39, divorced, and single. Taking a break from dating. She takes up an art class, and meets Michael. Michael is the young model they are drawing in art class. We also find out he works for Kim's brother at the auto body shop.
I had a hard time getting into the story at first. It moved a bit slow in the beginning. But soon heats up when we learn Michael is a virgin. The sexy times were HOT and EXCITING to read. A reason I'm a HUGE fan of the authors. They know how to write SEX!
I loved how sassy, and snarky Kim is. And Michael's sweetness was refreshing to watch. The way he is with Kim is sweet and endearing, but their sex scenes are SCORCHING!
I must say it was a quick fun book. I loved the chemisty between the characters. I'm definitely looking for more books from these 2 authors.
*I voluntarily read an arc from the authors, this is my honest review.*
Kim O'Halloran has loved her role as a cougar for years. The only problem is she's now pushing 40 and is feeling like she needs to start finding men closer to her own age. She's been in a bit of a funk lately so she decides to take an art class where the models are nude. She's hoping for some eye candy, with no success, at least until the class is almost over. Michael Montgomery is used to assisting his friend by being a nude model. He doesn't pay much attention to the students, at least until he looks around the classroom and spots the beautiful woman he helped along the side of the road a few months earlier. The only problem was she never looked up from her phone to notice her tow truck driver. She's noticed him now though.....and wants nothing more than to have her way with him. Michael has a few secrets he's hiding from Kim. Just how will she feel once those secrets come to light, along with some other changes making their way to her world. This was a fantastic hot read with the sexiness I've come to expect from Taryn Quinn.
Not sure how to review this one. I liked it when it was over. The last chapter or so chapters was the best. But I think in trying to make the heroine a rounded character, she actually came across as flat. She has a background of living down to expectations, which doesn’t jive with her f@ck off attitude. Come to think of it, the hero is contradictory as well. He’s very supportive of his family, very does the right thing. Except he goes off with a woman and takes care of her - no sex mind you, he’s a virgin when he meets our heroine - instead of taking care of his family. He has a big family. So no kids for him. I guess this was a way to get him to 25 and inexperienced. And her attitude toward men like tissues, reinforced by her smartass brother (not sure I’ll read that book bc of this, actually...). She had a shotgun wedding and subsequent miscarriage, so no kids for her by choice also. Their pasts are as much a part of the story as the present. But it’s repetitive. The bar doesn’t move. I liked both characters. But I’m not sure why. Oh well.
