Once again, Julian Cornell is at the zenith of his career; not only have his designs helped the young men and women in the burn unit, he’s about to ink an exclusive deal with the hottest model for his new high-fashion menswear collection. Everything is perfect except his husband doesn’t understand how important it all is to him, and the model might want more than just to walk the runway in Julian’s clothing.
Nick Fletcher has never been the jealous type; he’s always been confident his place is right by his husband’s side. But now that Julian is about to re-launch his fashion line, Nick fears Julian might be sucked back into a world of beautiful people and wonder what he’s missed being married to a less-than perfect man like Nick.
Leave it up to two meddling friends who think they know best to arrange a hot date guaranteed to put the spice back in Julian and Nick’s marriage, enabling them to remember that what lies beyond the surface is a lifetime of love.

Hot Date is book #3.3 in The Breakfast Club series by Felice Stevens. I have loved every one of these books. I love every one of these characters. This little novella revisits Nick and Julian about a year into their marriage.
When Nick and Julian first found each other and gave their love a second chance, Julian’s career as a fashion designer was floundering in the worst of ways. He became successful again when he began designing compression sleeves for burn victims. Then he started a children’s clothing line. With both of these successful ventures giving him confidence, now Julian is jumping back in to the men’s wear line and he’s about to sign the most successful model to exclusively represent his designs. The problem is, the model also happens to be the last person Julian was intimate with before he and Nick found each other again.
Nick is sure of one thing more than anything else, he loves Julian with his whole heart. But Nick is scarred. How can Julian find him attractive when he’s surrounded by beautiful people all day every day? And Julian is constantly on his phone now and attending social events most evenings. Nick just isn’t comfortable at those types of events. He feels like Julian is slipping away from him. That there is no room for him in his life anymore. But leave it to their friends, Marcus and Zach. Their conspiring minds will find a way to get these two back on track.
This is a sweet, sexy little visit with these two. I feel so bad for Nick and clearly they still need work on communicating. But I think they’re back on track. Julian just needed to be reminded what is important in life and Nick needed to be reminded just how important he was to Julian. This is such a wonderful series and I loved getting this little glimpse into these two’s lives.
Hot Date is a short story that catches us up with Nick and Julian from Beyond the Surface. It’s part of Felice Stevens’ Memories with The Breakfast Club Kindle World – stories by different authors that are spun off from her books in the Memories and Breakfast Club series. While this one will work best for fans of Julian and Nick, you could also pick it up and jump into it as a story of an established couple hitting some bumps. Necessary background is given for new readers, but fans will recognize all the other players in the story.
It’s been two years since the couple first reconnected and now they are married and still very much in love. With Julian’s business taking off again and him working all the time, Nick is starting to worry whether Julian has regrets about settling down with him. Nick still has some insecurities about his scars, but this isn’t the same old Nick we first met and he is determined to work through things and make sure Julian is happy. If only he could have Julian’s attention all to himself for the time it takes. Julian loves Nick, but he is also thrilled his business is taking off. He has a feeling something is bothering Nick and feels him pulling away, but Julian can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong. Thankfully their friends Zach and Marcus have no issues stepping in to help these two find their way.
For a short story we get an awful lot. It’s much more than just the hot date the blurb suggests. It’s actually a story about these two working their way back to each other when life keeps trying to pull them away. Having both Julian’s and Nick’s points of view makes it clear that they just need to air a couple of issues and to get some alone time together to reconnect. I struggled with Nick somewhat in Beyond the Surface, but here he had me with him from the start.I was surprised that I got emotional over Nick’s worrying. He is really trying, recognizing the issue and seeking help, even if he is finding it hard to communicate directly to Julian about what is bothering him. Julian loves and wants Nick as much as he ever did, but is clueless at how much Nick is missing him and how much he is distracted by work. Luckily, his best friend Marcus is glad to bluntly tell him what’s what.
So that was the emotional, but not angsty, part of the story. Don’t worry, there is still the hot date and hot sex that the title and blurb refer to. Julian and Nick have great chemistry and I love their banter. Their sex is fun and it was great to see them letting go and getting dirty with each other.
A must read for fans of Nick and Julian and a recommended read if you like stories about established couples working their way back to the passion and romance that started it all.
Hot Date was a cute short story set in the world of this author’s Breakfast Club series. This Kindle Worlds book is about Nick and Julian, the couple featured in the first novel. As I’m fairly new to this author, I haven’t made it to this series yet. While I undoubtedly missed some of the nuances between main and secondary characters, Miss Stevens did a great job crafting this short with enough details that I was able to follow along and enjoy it.
Regardless of not having read their full-length novel, the love and connection between Julian and Nick was easy to recognize. I think most who have been involved in any sort of long-term relationship can relate to the circumstances this couple found themselves in after a year of marriage and it made for an honest plot/conflict and an interesting extension of their story. I appreciated how both men realized things needed to be worked on and how they equally recognized their own faults and contributions to their relationship issues. There was a good amount of drama and some angst to this story to spark conflict, but it also had time to reach a satisfying resolution. The physical connection definitely delivered the heat the title promised, which made for a nice counter to the softhearted romance. The writing was solid and the main and secondary characters were clearly all good people who have strong bonds of friendship and love for one another. It’s easy to see why so many readers love this group of characters and series.
Hot Date was a sweet short I think fans of the author will appreciate even if they haven’t read the series or the couple’s first book. This brief glance into The Breakfast Club world that features such a varied group of good friends ensured I’ll be reading the series in full.
One of the few things I dislike about m/m romance is most authors obsession with each book in a series focusing on a new couple with us usually getting dribbles of new stuff about the previous couples. Felice Stevens is one of my favorite authors not just because her writing and characters are incredible, because she seems to do her because to keep the stories of previous couple going. This short is a prime example of that. Sadly it is just that "a short"... I sooooooo want more full length books in this series moving the characters forward. The Breakfast Club is one of my all time favorite M/M series so of course I'm greedy... I WANT more!!! This story was truly amazing in that it took less than a couple of pages and I was completely immersed once again in a world I love. I loved these men and it is good to see them moving forward despite obstacles and miscommunication. Reading this short story reminded me once again why I so love Ms. Stevens writing... visiting old friends brought out my tears... tears of happiness, joy and love!
Hot Date is a nice little catch-up with one of the couples from The Breakfast Club series. It isn’t quite a full three-star rating from me, but it was so close I had to round up. It was sweet, it had the usual Felice Stevens charm, and I powered through the story in no time at all.
In truth, Hot Date is not a necessary read. It adds a little bit more to the series, but it does not add a lot. It gives us an insight into the future, showing things aren’t always perfect, and leaves us with the same feelings we had at the end of the couples’ story.
It was sweet and fun, but it’s not the end of the world if you do not read this one.
Felice Stevens’ Hot Date is a nice reminder to readers of m/m and to hopeless romantics that love is most certainly love and that in order for a marriage to continue to thrive and grow, even after the honeymoon phase is over, open communication and putting one another first, regardless of other aspects of their lives, must be a couple’s priority because if it’s not and neglect is felt, uncertainty can take over and the tight bond that seemed so effortless at the beginning of a relationship is now struggling to remain.
Julian and Nick’s short novella allows both of them to gain the perspective they need to take the steps to show one another exactly how much they want their marriage, relationship, and life to work, and with a bit of help from their friends, but the time the story is over, Julian and Nick have learned important lessons and vow to always remember that love is the most important feeling in the world and that in order for it to stay strong, it needs to be cared for and felt each and every day.
It's a very short story with a lot of feeling. Tugging my heart just like what Felice always do. For a very loving couple, Julian and Nick is still definitely need a communication skill. Thank God they have Marcus and Zach❤❤❤ It's an angst with no angst story about a couple we loved in a breakfast club (you'll find it why I said this). I was kinda pissed at Julian the way Nick did, but certainly it was NOT necessary. Sometimes, assumption is a mother of all fuck ups. Julian and Nick are just as strong as they're always be. Recommended!
This is the first story I am reading in the new Kindle Worlds series. It was written by Felice and as always I love her writing. The story is short and revolves around Julian and Nick.
They have been married, living their lives and Nick starts to feel he is losing Julian to his work. Nick is feeling left out while Julian's business is on the rise. He doesn't want to hold him back but knows that they still love each other. You can tell they need to communicate with each other but neither wants to open up at the beginning. Nick asks his friends for advise and goes about trying to prove to Julian that he is worth loving and not leaving him. Now Julian is so engrossed in making his business a success he doesn't realizes that he is leaving Nick behind. He feels Nick pulling away and doesn't know why. Julian knows he loves Nick with all his heart and nothing he has would be possible without Nick in his life. Julian also goes to his friends for advise and plans a date to surprise Nick. I really enjoyed Nick and Julian's story when their book came out and was glad to see that we catch a glimpse of their lives after the HEA. They still have issues to deal with and that the road isn't as easy as they want. They both show up at their date and figure out that their friends set them up. Julian realizes that Nick was feeling inadequate and explains that their marriage is the most important thing in his life. Julian decides to take time to spend with his husband. Nick knows how important Julian's success is to him and wants everything to work out. He knows he has to support him 100% and decides to accompany Julian to his business functions from now on and show his support. The chemistry is still there with these two and the love they share is worth working out their issues. Great job Felice and can't wait to read more from this world. *ARC provided by Felice Stevens in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Jodi from Alpha Book Club
I loved Julian and Nick in Beyond the Surface. It was wonderful to read about them again and catch up with their friends. Julian and Nick have been married for a year, but things are changing. Julian's design business is taking off again, and he's super busy. Nick is trying to show him that he needs more time with Julian, but he's not communicating it well enough. Add in a meddling model, some interfering friends, and you have a wonderful short story of two lovers finding their way again.
I loved this story even as I wanted to slap Julian's phone out of his hands. It was great to see Zack and Marcus again as well. Reading this made me want to go back and reread The Breakfast Club series and watch Julian and Nick fall in love all over again.
Hot Date is a beautifully written novella and follow up to Beyond The Surface (Breakfast Club #1). Beyond The Surface was a 5 star read for me, and if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend you read it before you read Hot Date, and you MUST read Hot Date!! I love Nick and Julian's second chance story...I'm in love with their love story. Although Hot Date is a novella, it's complete and centers around a short period of time in their lives. It has everything I adore in a book. It's sweet, a little angsty and very sexy. It has all the feels that I love and that Ms. Stevens brings to the page with each book that she writes. It was also a joy to revisit with the fellas from the Breakfast Club series for a little while!
This is my third? story in the kindle world series now, and as usual with Stevens' books, I really liked it.
I haven't read Nick and Julian's story yet, so when I started this book I was a little worried that I might get lost and have to place it on pause, rewind, and catch up before finishing it, but of course I didn't. Stevens' has everything taken care of! You don't really need to know their story to read Hot Date, this works perfectly fine as a standalone.
It starts as... well, a Hot Date between two lovers who have already found their HEA but want to refocus their attention and bring back the new love romance. For a 57 page book, there was a lot to digest here. Nick felt like Julian spent more time at work than with him and Julian felt like Nick was drifting away from him, but neither of them would communicate that to each other and just TALK ABOUT IT so it caused a lot of confusion and probably unnecessary worrying for both of them, but alas, that is reality. Julian plans a date to woo Nick (again) and show him how much he really loves his beau.
This book was really cute with a side of sexy and a little bit of hurt (but that was quickly resolved). Stevens has a way of pulling you into a story with very few words and I was pretty much in love with these two from page one. Nick had this whole alpha dominant thing going that totally worked for Nick and these two fit each other like two pieces of the same puzzle. I loved seeing them reconnect and just click like long lost lovers.
I really can't wait to read their full-length book, which I am absolutely going to do as soon as I have the opportunity. I'll have to add it to my tbr list. I love this series and I loved this book in particular. Well done, Felice Stevens!

Julian and Nick are back - and the story is sweet, sexy and so amazing. It's no secret I am a HUGE Felice Stevens fan and I was so thrilled to read this book. Unfortunately for the international reader there is very limited access to the Memories with The Breakfast Club (Kindle Worlds)-series, because it is US exclusive so far. But I hope that amazon will change that asap. :)
So far this story is a great but not totally necessary continuation of the series. Of course fans want to have this but nothing realling "new" is told, so it is an additional novella to the series. It is better to have the insight of the Breakfast Club series because otherwise you will be spoiled or don't know all the information named/mentioned. :)
The sex is hot as hell in the book, as always, the romance equally great and it is so sweet not only to see Julian and Nick but the other guys too. A great reunion. :3
5 out of 5 stars and a total recommendation. The US restriction for the international reader is a bit a bummer but hopefully this will be fixed soon. I really hope for.
Everybody has a favorite book series - mine is The Breakfast Club. Each one of these characters is special to me but Nick and Julian started my love affair. I'm not afraid to admit how ridiculously excited I was for this story. I couldn't wait to read about the Julian's Hot Date with his fireman. But I wanted to get lost in it. I wanted to be in my own little Breakfast Club bubble so I waited until everybody was gone before I opened to the first page and it was just me and my boys.
I loved stepping back into this world and spending time Nick and Julian. They deserved to have another moment in the spotlight. They're almost like the "old married couple" of the group and it's easy to forget how great they are together and how explosively hot their relationship is. Hot Date puts that passion front and center but tosses in a little insecurity and distance on the side. Felice makes them work to recapture their magic and oh how sweet it is!!! They are all kinds of sexy - and Julian's little surprise at the end....makes this a Hot Date indeed!!
Felice Stevens’ THE BREAKFAST CLUB series holds a special place in my heart. It makes me so, so happy that it is this series of all things which got picked up for the first Gay Romance Kindle World. I cannot wait to reconnect with all its amazing characters! It just seemed fitting to start with HOT DATE and revisit Julian and Nick from BEYOND THE SURFACE first. The couple has been married for a year, but things seem to not go as smoothly as before. Julian’s design business has taken off and it seems like his phone is glued to his hand. Always checking messages, arranging stuff, calling somebody – and forgetting what is really important in his life. Nick, his hot firefighter of a husband, is trying to convey to him that they need more alone time together, but an interfering model as well as communication problems do not make it easy, showing that you also can feel insecure in a stable and loving relationship. Add to that sizzling passion, sweet dialogues and a bit of angst, and you have a wonderful novella of two lovers growing closer together again.
It’s a catch up with Nick and Julian. Julian’s career is back on its track, he’s creating new menswear collection and is about to sing a deal with the hottest model in the industry. Too bad it’s taking a toll on his marriage. Nick is afraid that Julian will be sucked back into the fashion world and he’ll feel like he’s missing on something because of their relationship.
I loved this story! It was great to catch up with Nick, Julian and the rest of the gang. „Hot Date” was heart-warming and put a huge smile on my face. I loved how hard they were trying to get back to romance between them. We all know how hard it is… All in all, great way to spend early morning or any part of the day, really… READ IT!
Julian and Nick are happy together, but Julian is going back to old workaholic habits, and Nick's insecurities make him doubt of his ability to make his husband happy. Fortunately, and before things escalate, their good friends step in and save the day…. Miscommunication is a bitch. That could be the summary of this delightful little story. Even though Julian and Nick love each other deeply, their failure at exposing their feelings clearly originates a rift between them. They both go to their friends for help, and get set up by them. Short, extremely hot, with a little bit of anguish and a very happy HEA, Hot Date is a perfect story for those lovers of the Breakfast Club series and cannot get enough of two of their favourite characters, Nick and Julian. Very recommendable. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Nice follow-up on the first of Felice Stevens' "The Breakfast Club" series wherein men's fashion designed Julian Cornell and his firefighter husband Nick Fletcher are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
Ah, but times are changing for them as Julian's business is taking off and a pernicious world-class men's fashion model has set his sights for him, once again.
These two can't quite communicate with each other until they show up at their breakfast and cafe haunts in Brooklyn where the characters from the other novels set plans in motion to get them to realize what jerks they are.
Cool, sweet, a bit funny, and scorching in all the right places. Nicely done as an appetizer or dessert.
So very excited to see that the LGBT genre is getting some well deserved recognition. In their first gay Kindle World, we get to visit two of Felice Stevens fav favorite series, The Breakfast Club & Memories of the Heart. Let me just say HOT HOT HOT. Nick & Julian have been married for a couple of years, life is going great but is it really, has the magic that these two had in the beginning start to fade. Julian's business is exploding and Nick is feeling insecure, that he is not enough for his husband anymore. When both decided that they need to do something separately, they call on the boys (Marcus & Zach) but fate (or 4 meddling friends) step in to help prove to these two what they have is perfect. PSA - you will never look at a silk scarf the same way.
Many times, I'll read a short story/novella and it will leave me feeling like I'm missing something, like it needs something more. NOT THE CASE with Hot Date. This little slice of life was just what the doctor ordered. A wonderful way to catch up with favorite MCs Nick and Julian, I loved this look into an established couple's day-to-day life. Far from perfect, like the rest of us, they have issues, struggle, and then yes, kiss and make up. And oh boy, do these two kiss and make up. One hell of a hot date, Felice - you had me fanning myself. Keep 'em coming, and I'll keep reading. Wonderful as always.
What can I say? Felice is a master in storytelling. Short story or full-length novel. It doesn’t matter. They are equally captivating.
I loved reading about Nick and Julian again. They are such a cute and sweet couple but even they have their rocky patches to go through. Julian’s career is skyrocketing again and is busy with less and less time for his husband. Nick is torn between pride in his husband’s success and fear of losing Julian to that same success. As always if they have difficulties and questions their good friends of the Breakfast Club are there for them to help them out.
FAIRY GOD-FRIENDS TO THE RESCUE! Nick and Julian are husbands growing apart unintentionally as the demands of Julian's high profile career and his clingy model are pulling him more and more from his closeness with Nick. Julian is a bit of a twit as he is oblivious to how much the cell phone is taking over all of his time with his spouse. Nick is doing all he can to avoid letting his insecurities overwhelm him as he loves his husband and believes in Julian's love for him. Something needs to change. Cue FAIRY GODFRIENDS who use a little subterfuge and magic to make sure that Nick and Julian remember who they are to each other.
This is the third novella to go with this series. I think they should be read in order. This novella focuses on Nick and Julian. They have been married for a year now. Marcus is working on new male fashion line and has been busier than ever. Nick begins to worry. Why would Julian want him when there are so many pretty, perfect people he could have instead? Julian is frustrated that Nick doesn’t seem to understand how important this is to him. Can the two of them along with some meddling friends find their way again? I enjoyed this book. These books are very realistic. The guys face challenges any might face. I like that about this series. I look forward to reading the next novella.
Nick and Julian are married. But their marriage seems to have comes to a halt. Julian's Bussiness has taken off and he spends more and more time on the phone dealing with bussiness.
Nick feels like their drifting apart. He is insecure and thinking about Julian with all those hot models. But with the help of their friends, hmmmm need I say happy ending.
Loved this book.
Note: this book was given to me for free in exchange of a fair and honest review.
I absolutely loved catching up with Nick and Julian. Married life has been fantastic for them but they have hit a road bump. Julian is busy with work and Nick is feeling left behind. They both aren't communicating their needs to each other well and their friends step in to help them remember why they fell in love with each other in the first place.
I loved this story...I smiled all the way through the book. Hot Date was absolutely perfect.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
MM. Julian's menswear is taking off again and he feels the pressure to not fail. He does not realize he is neglecting their relationship. Nick is at a loss of what to do. He is not a beautiful as the half naked models around Julian all the time. Nick and Julian have come through fire together and are stronger for it, but a relationship requires tending or the flames will wain. Explicit. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
What a charming book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. Nick and Julian are the MC’s of this book and married. There was humor, jealousy, models, friends, anniversary and so much more in this book. You will need to read the book which I can highly recommend it is short but good. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
I fell in love with Nick and Julian in Beyond The Surface (Breakfast Club #1) and was so happy to catch up with them! They are now married and so busy they have neglected their romance. With help from some friends they have a hot date that puts the fire back into their relationship!
It is great to see one of my favorite couples living their HEA!
This was a short and sweet catch up to Nick and Julian. I really like that the subject was so relatable. Life, work, your focus on your career can sometimes get in the way of what's truly important in life. Nick and Julian need to reconnect and with the help of some sneaky friends they sure as hell have one hot date! Felice Stevens brings the sizzle to heat up this couple.
I love Nick and Julian so much, so having a little extra glimpse into their lives together makes me a happy girl. Like any other married couple, the two are experiencing a little rough patch. Leave it to their friends to come to the rescue and help make things right between them. Love, love, love The Breakfast Club series!
