Baseball's biggest player is about to get played. WES I love women and women love me. It's not my fault I'm irresistible. Okay, I may be a little cocky too. All I have to do is post a picture of myself shirtless with my cat, Snickers, and the women flock to me. It probably helps that I'm good with my bat and balls. A selfie, a smile, and I have them in bed—but never in a relationship. Until Carrie entered the game. She may not know it, but she owns me. And I'm not letting her go. CARRIE I'm a professional. No, not THAT kind of professional. I'm an orthopedic physician for the St. Pete Mantas and my job is everything. I love the game and I love my players … but I never fall *in* love with any of them. Especially not players like Wes. Especially Wes. He thinks life is one big game. One sexy, romantic, and sometimes sweet, game that’s left me confused and little bit worried... I may have actually fallen for the ultimate player. I'll have to beat him at his own game if I have any shot at walking away with my heart intact. *A sexy standalone romance set in the world of The Storm Inside

He is a player both in the bedroom and in his daily life. He is a sports star. She is good at his job and she never falls for the cocky players especially him. She can never fall for him or can she? What if she falls for him? How will she cope? Can she get away quickly? See if he can get the girl ha really wants

So firstly I want to say that I haven't read the previous 5 books in the series, and while this did mean I had a slight adjustment to make as I learnt about background characters (main characters in previous books) and timelines, Alexis managed to convey all of this whilst not overdoing it with recaps. This is something I was incredibly impressed with and it made it much more accessible as a new reader of her books. So if you haven't read them before, don't worry, you can dive straight in if you want to!

This book is insanely hot, like I'm surprised my kindle didn't catch on fire whilst I was reading it! Get a sexy, caring Major Ball player, add a smart, sassy surgeon, and a drunken Vegas wedding. What could go wrong? Warning: do not read in public. Side effects can be: swooning, fanning oneself, and a desperate need for cold showers. Alexis has created a romance between two dedicated, ambitious, intelligent, passionate people and it was so beautiful to follow their love story.

Wes completely took me by surprise. He's got that sexy, player vibe, but he's actually kind, considerate, gentle, intelligent and funny as heck. Seriously, I understand completely why Carrie fell in love with him, pretty sure I'm a little in love with him too. I love how he has this family type connection with his cat, it shows his sweet, genuine side, and it's rare in romance novels for the hero to already have a pet. He's wonderfully flawed, and I think it's brilliant that we see his vulnerable side and his insecurities, they make him seem more human (instead of someone that should be chilling on Mount Olympus).

I feel like Carrie is a marmite person: you either love her or hate her. I loved her! She's blunt, she doesn't care what people think, and she doesn't give up on her goals; she's also the personification of sass. She's quirky and flawed but the way they work through their demons together was beautiful to read.

I do have to say that in some places the story was a little hard to follow because it switched between the present tense and their relationship from 6 weeks ago. It was very clever how it all followed through full circle but I think the timeline was over complicated a little.

It's probably unusual to jump into the series at book 6, but after enjoying it so much I've already gone back to start book one because I want to know Jake and Eve’s story and Roman and June’s.

This was my first book by this author. Even though this is book 6 in the series, I was able to read it without feeling like I was missing out on anything. I really liked this story and will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Wes was so adorably lovable while Carrie was standoffish and more of a loner. Wes was exactly what she needed in her life to bring her out of her shell. After one drunken night, she wakes up married to Wes and loses her mind.

As you read and get more background into Carrie's upbringing, we see how the way her parents played a huge role in how she lives her life. Wes may just be the only one to pull her out of her own head. Will he succeed or will they go down in flames?

There are plenty of sexy times. The kindle will definitely heat up and you'll need to let it cool down but when is that ever a problem!! Definitely a must read.

Night Games is the 6th book in The Storm Inside Series by Alexis Anne but can definitely be read as a standalone. I will be honest that I read this book for the mere fact that it was a sports romance, which I do have a small weakness for and boy am I glad that I did.

Wes is the catcher for a major league baseball team, he is gorgeous and has women falling all over him. But he is so much more than a ball player. He is smart and is building a brand that will last him long after his days on the field are over. He has never been a one woman kind of guy...that is until he met Carrie.

Carrie is an orthopedic surgeon for the cross state team. She meets Wes and they have a crazy night together, it is never supposed to be more than that because Carrie only depends on one person, herself. She refuses to fall into the stereotype that her mother wants for her, to return to the farm, get marries and have babies. She wants a career at being the best surgeon, and she strives for that everyday.

Once Carrie gets too close to Wes she tries to back off, but he refuses to let her go. Because while Wes was a ladies man, he is only interested in one woman for the rest of his days and that is Carrie. Convincing her that she should stay with him forever, that will be the ultimate game for him to win!

I am so glad this was the first book I have ever read from Alexis Anne, even though it is the 6th book in the series everything was explained almost making it a standalone. Before I became a book blogger I NEVER and I do mean NEVER read books out of order or a random book out of a series, but after reading the blurb I had to have this book ASAP.

Carrie whatever you do, do not call her Carrie Anne is a smart and feisty baseball team orthopedic surgeon. Along with that brain of her she has a sense of humor and knows what she wants in life. So when she wakes up after a drunken night in Vegas after he best friends wedding, she did not expect to find herself married as well. Yes waking up married and not remembering a single thing is hard enough, but realizing who she is accidentally married too makes it a whole lot worse.

Wes, great body, kitty loving, smooth talking Wes is your typical baseball player - on and off the field. He knows his way with a baseball and definitely knows his way around women. Or at least that's how he's portrayed. See Wes actually believes in love, the one and he just so happens to think he found it... in Carrie. Wes may or may not have known what was going on while they were drunkingly tying the knot in Vegas.

After finishing this book I begged for more pages and more chapters. I also wish there was more time so I can go back and read the first five books in this series. With how this book was written and everyone was described I just know the rest of the books will be just as amazing.

I absolutely loved the banter between these two and the fiery passion even when they don't realize it. With me not reading the rest of the series I was afraid I was going to be confused or lost, and even though I was in the first few chapters there were many flash backs to explain everything I might have missed.

If you couldn't tell I definitely recommend this book.

Night Games was a different book than I was expecting. It is told in dual POV, Carrie's storyline is told 6 weeks in the past & Wes' storyline is told in present time. Although, you have alternating time frames the book is seamless and has a nice flow to it. Night Games is part of "The Storm Inside" series but, can be read as a standalone.

Dr. Carrie Anne Walker is a Orthopedic Surgeon and married to her job, she left home at 18 and hasn't looked back. She is definitely more bark than bite and keeps herself guarded because when she lets someone in she loves with her whole heart. Marriage is sacred to her even though she didn't have good role models growing up. She marches to the beat of her own drum. She is a runner, meaning she runs from her problems/emotions when things start to get to intimate.

Wesley "Wes" Allen is a celebrity baseball catcher that is well known for his player ways, his instagram post with his cat, and his quirky youtube channel. He is the ultimate flirt! Wes grew up in a household where his parents were completely in love and that has stayed with him through adulthood. He wants to find that forever love that is all encompassing!

Night Games is about letting your guard down and realizing what is right in front of you. Wes and Carrie are cut from the same cloth and don't want commitment. So, how do you prove to the girl you love that you are worth taking a chance on? You have to prove to that gorgeous guarded girl that you really do love her and nothing comes before her & you aren't the guy she thinks you are. When you find the person that loves you for who you are and doesn't want to change a thing about you...that is the person that you need to hold onto and never let go. This was an emotional eye opening journey for both character and it was a light hearted read.

This is the first book I've read by Alexis Anne and I quite enjoyed it! I read it in one sitting and this book is actually book 6 in the series but I never felt lost or confused so there are a series of stand alones and I like that a lot.
This book is about a playboy player baseball player who is going to get played or his he? I guess you will have to read to find out. This book did pull me in it had me laughing, it had me tearing up just a tad. It had dual pov which I love!!!! And Wes pov is in the present day while Carrie's is six weeks earlier but it flows really well you don't get lost at all. The characters are solid you understand both of them and their backstory is there and explains why they are like they are. And of course sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover. The supporting characters are there and on point. I was really surprised and happy with this book and now want to go back and read the first five in the series. I really wanted more of an epilogue but that's just me being picky. But when you sitting in your spot and your reading a book and you have a smile on your face you know that you are enjoying the book your reading. So that's what this book did for me it put a smile on my face! And I've found another to read. I highly recommend this book! - By Tina

What a sweet, funny sexy story!
Told in double POV as well as past and present, it tells the story of Carrie Walker and Wes Allen. Carrie is an orthopedic surgeon for the St. Pete Mantas, a Florida based baseball team from Tampa. Wes plays for the Waves, another Florida teamed based in Jacksonville. One of Carrie’s two best friends, Zoe spots Wes in her Instagram account and shows his picture to Carrie. It’s insta-interest and lust from that moment on. She dreams of meeting him, just to get him out of her system. Unbeknownst to either girl, Wes knows some of their friends and he and Carrie eventually do meet and the attraction is immediately off the scales. It doesn’t take them long to get down and dirty only to be caught with their pants down by their mutual best friends, this time June and her soon to be husband, Roman.
The following six weeks in an up and down ride of will they, won’t they, culminating in a spur of the moment wedding in Vegas. That’s just the start of the shenanigans these two get up to. Carrie leads Wes on a merry dance while she tries to decide if she wants to stay married or whether they’ve just made the biggest mistake of their lives.
Grab your copy and laugh along, get frustrated and root for the hot alpha male who doesn’t know if he’s coming or going in this sexy tale.

What a fun story!
This story is about Carrie and Wes and their love story. She is a orthopedic physician for athletes and he is a famous baseball player. What starts out as just having fun for them turns serious when they wake up married! Carrie sees it as a mistake and wants to get it fixed. But Wes doesn't see it as a mistake and he is fighting to keep Carrie as his. As the story goes on we understand why Carrie is running from Wes and why Wes is trying so hard to hold on to Carrie.
I really enjoyed this story. The author did a great job making the reader root for these characters. Their love story is a fun one to follow. And even though us as the readers don't agree with every decision, we understand it. And I found myself not being able to put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen next!
I suggest this story for anyone who loves a good, real love story. You will laugh, cry and find yourself falling in love with the characters. Also if are a fan of steamy romance scenes, this is the book for you!

Five out of five stars!

I really, really liked this story!
We're all familiar with these types of stories. A drunken night of passion in Vegas ends with an "oopsie" marriage and the hero and heroine give it a go, and battle it out one way or another.
THIS book, however? This book put a twist on it. HE (Wes - resident playboy baseball stud) wants to give their marriage a real shot. Where SHE (Carrie - independent, scared surgeon) was perfectly content in her life without a man.
They bicker, and they love fiercely. The angst and the chemistry these two have with each other is outstanding and kept me glued to their story. There's some back and forth with the time frame, jumping from present to past a lot. Something that at times got a little frustrating (for me) . And I dont want to take away from the book, because it was phenomenal.
I highly recommend this book. And although it is a part of a series, this was the first book in the series that I read, and it can completely be read as a standalone. Great book!

This was book #6 in The Storm Inside series.  This book is a standalone.  I want to read the other books in this series so I can see how the other characters got together.

Wes is a major baseball catcher.  Sexy, charming, and loves his cat, Snickers.  Carrie is a strong woman and an orthopedic surgeon.  Their chemistry was hot!!  I am surprised my iPad did not catch on fire!!  Lucky I was not reading a paperback!

Great characters.  I feel that what Carrie has gone through and her fears do happen in real life.  Some woman might look at marriage like Carrie did because of the way she was raised.  I felt so bad for her when her mother was on the phone with her.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

4.5 Stars This story is told in dual POV's with different time lines. You don't even notice the difference that is how well written it is. It is the 6th book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I love sport romances so I grabbed this up and I am so glad I did. Carrie left home at 18 and never went back, Wes grew up in a home where true love was shown. So when the two of these mix together it is a push and pull showdown. It was tons of fun to read and I loved the headstrong characters and even though it was an emotional rollercoaster it was still light-hearted.

I love it!
Wes, baseball's biggest player.
Carrie, a wicked, smart surgeon for baseball.
They meet because of friends. They fall in love when having fun in the sheets develops into something more than just a friendship.
The writer does an excellent job at telling their story, going back and forth between the past and present.
The sex is blistering hot! And Wes made me laugh.
This book is from the Storm Inside Series and is just as great as the rest of the series.
Must Read! I highly recommend!

This is the first book I've read by Alexis Anne and I enjoyed reading the night games. Night games was amazing, emotional and heart warming story. Carrie and Wes will take you on a journey full of twist and turns right up to the last page of the story. Their story is intriguing and when they are together, their sexual tension literally lights up the room with a bang. Fantastic book.

I just finished this book and my initial impressions are:
- disappointment
- way too many flips back and forth between the “past” and the present. It was hard to keep track
- Carrie was infuriating
- Wes seemed like a doormat
- after everything, a HEA felt forced

This was my first book from Alexis Anne. It is technically part of a series but I read it as a standalone and followed the story/characters just fine. This blurb was definitely what made me want to read this book. A sexy baseball player and a romance with the team physician? Sign me up.

I had a bit of a hard time with this book. At first I thought it was the format. This story is told in dual POV, which is fine, but also has flashbacks. Now, the flashbacks are needed for the backstory between these two so I tried to keep that in mind.

My issue was with Carrie. I just couldn't connect with her. I love a good, strong heroine but I just didn't get that vibe completely from her. Did she have strengths? Yes. She's smart, she's confident. But I just wanted her to open her eyes a bit sooner as to what she was doing. For all of her smarts she was also immature to me, which did annoy me. I wanted to love her and I just never got there.

Now Wes? Wes I did like. I loved his determination and confidence. I loved his sexiness. I loved how he tried to win Carrie over. I enjoyed his POV very much.

These two characters do have chemistry. Their sexy times are sexy. I believed they had feelings for one another, even when they didn't fully acknowledge them. They have good banter between them outside of the bedroom as well, which is always a good thing to me.

The book was written well. While I didn't always love the flashbacks I do think they were necessary to this story. I enjoyed this author's style and will try another book of hers. I do recommend this book.

3.5 stars. This is a tough review to write as I have mixed feelings about this book. I take part responsibility as this is the first book I've read in the series. I think I could have had benefited from having more information about the characters and their relationships. I loved Wes in this book. He was fun, sexy and knows what he wants. He was charming, yet clueless at time and that just made you fall in love with him immediately. Carrie on the other hand - while I love tough, smart heroines in stories - just got on my nerves. You are given background information on her which makes you understand most of her hesitation and behaviors. I actually liked her in the end. When she let her guard down, she was really lovely. I enjoy stories that bounce back and forth between time frames, but at times, I found it a little bit confusing, maybe because the time frame over all for the story was short - 6 weeks. Sports romances are some of my favorite genres, especially baseball.

While I love a good sports romance, in that aspect this book didn't disappoint but I just couldn't really connect with Carrie. I loved that she was independent, smart, and sassy but I felt like while she didn't want to just get a divorce she wasn't trying either. I understand her issues/past or whatever but she wouldn't give Wes even an inch, so I felt myself getting frustrated.

Wes on the other hand was great fun. He was not what people imagined and he didn't even like the rumors and stereotypes about him. He is a guy every woman would want as he shows us so much more then the good looks, etc. He really wanted it to work with Carrie and he was willing to prove it to her.

But I loved the idea of them getting married in Vegas while drunk, it added a nice aspect to the story. And how he was super happy about it.

This was the first book in the series I read, and while it would have been nice to get the background fully of the "couples" I didn't feel lost while reading so this is easily a stand alone book.

Night Games by Alexis Anne is a sweet sports romance. Carrie is a orthopedic surgeon for the Mantas and Wes is a catcher for the Waves. Carrie is as much of a player as Wes, but can they both win at the same game?

I liked that Carrie was a strong female character and that Wes could be the beefy baseball player while still showing a sweet and caring side. I do have to say that my favorite of all the characters was Snickers. I loved the inclusion of him. The one thing that kind of threw me off in Night Games was the more of Wes in the present and Carrie in the past. I never felt like I could get a timeline going in my head. The ending seemed a bit abrupt with Carrie never really dealing with the issues that made her the way she was. Very cute story, I just could have used a little bit more closure and Carrie dealing with her issues a bit more. Night Games earns a 4-star review from me.

This is the second book of the Wild Pitch Series. I have not read book one and found and I did not find that I was missing out on anything. This book is about Wes and Carrie. Wes is a player for the St. Pete Mantas and Carrie is their orthopedic physician. Wes is more than a baseball player, he has managed to hone and earn his rep as a "player" with the ladies. His favorite hook, posting a selfie of himself shirtless with his cat, Snickers. Carrie is aware of Wes and all his antics and reputation and wants nothing to do with it. Seems crystal clear. However, they are introduced to one another through friends and actually become friends. Or maybe more? Can both these characters risk their hearts? Or is the game over?

She's a high-powered surgeon - he's a baseball player. She stalks him on social media, and is fascinated with him. When they meet, she decides to get him out of her system once and for all. It's not that easy, especially because he wants more. They begin a relationship of sorts. After their friends' wedding in Vegas, she wakes up in a hotel room - married to him. She's freaking out. He's perfectly calm. She thinks she doesn't need him - or any man. He thinks he can't live without her. The agree to give it six months to see if the marriage will work out. The chemistry and banter and passion between these two is just priceless. I really enjoyed this book. I didn't realize that this book is part of a series. Now I need to back and read the first books.

Sports romance is always going to grab my attention, and BASEBALL? My absolute favorite! Told in dual POV in both the past and the present, I found Night Games to be so engrossing. Although this is book 6 in The Storm Inside series, I was new to the series and didn't have a problem at all jumping in to the story. Wes a my favorite kind of male character, charming and witty and determined to get what he wants. I did find the time passage (just 6 weeks) to be a bit short and from time to time the jumping between past and present confused me a bit. Still, I enjoyed Night Games and plan to check out the rest of the series- book 1 is currently free!

Night Games started out pretty slow for me. I just couldn't get why Carrie was acting so scared and freaked out about marrying Wes. Yes, it was unexpected and a drunken marriage, but she just rubbed me wrong. Wes was sweet from the get go and I rooted for him throughout the whole story.

It was hard for me to connect with Carrie, but by the end of the story, I understood her better and I liked her. However, Wes made the story for me. I just thought he was a solid character. Gah, he is just so sweet and his personality was just too fun. I thought these two characters balanced each other out perfectly.

Even though I had trouble getting into the story at first, I'm glad I pushed through. It turned out to be a fun, entertaining read.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. I absolutely adored Wes. He’s a big fluffy golden retriever of a hero. A bit clueless, but charmingly endearing in his ineptitude. Carrie drove me completely mental. My heart and brain are wired so differently from her’s that I just couldn’t connect with her. I was so frustrated watching her constantly running scared and playing games with Wes’s feelings. It’s easy to see the need for the flashback chapters explaining how Carrie and Wes have ended up in such a mess, but their placement was sometimes confusing and often left me more upset than ever at Carrie’s behavior. I loved where these two got to in the end, I just wanted to see Wes with a partner that would love him better than what we witnessed.

Wes' and Carrie's characters are perfect for each other. Their banter emits steam and their sex scenes are sizzling. The story has a steady and entertaining plot. The conflict was treated with importance but was not overreaching. The author put together a very cohesive romance story. I know cohesive doesn't sound very sexy or romantic but there is something different when you read this author's books. The author's talent with words and storytelling pulls you in. You keep telling yourself one more chapter and the next thing you know, it's 3 AM. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

***3.5 Stars***

I'm a huge fan of baseball roms, and I really wanted to love this book... It started off great, but not all of the aspects gripped me through the rest of the story like I'd hoped it would.

Now, I did adore Wes. His honesty about his feelings, his determination to win Carrie over, and his swoony sexiness were all very endearing. Carrie's flighty-ness is what turned me off, I think. Some of it just felt unwarranted, like it shouldn't matter so much or be affecting the situation so significantly. But maybe that's just me...

Overall, this was an enjoyable book, without significant editing issues that affected the reading. That's why I bumped the stars up to 4 rather than down to 3 to represent my 3.5.

**I received an ARC of this book from the author.**

Are you in the mood for a baseball romance plus a wedding in Vegas? Well you will be in luck because this book has both. Wes is a MLB Catcher but he has his work cut out for him to catch Carrie. Carrie avoids love at all costs and doesn't give in too easily. Wes is so sweet and fun loving. There is lots of hot chemistry between them. Wes just has to work really hard to get her to give in to the feelings that she avoids. This book goes back and forth from present time to when their relationship started about 6 weeks prior. It is a super fun and easy read. Enjoy!
