Another enjoyable episode in the Nightwalker mysteries by the talented Mr Brown. I loved the first part, but this one had me on the edge of my seat by the last chapter. I can't wait to discover what happens next. Highly recommended.

This is not your ordinary, boring vampire story. It's actually quite complex, and the vampire aspects and characters are actually only a small part of what is really going on. More than a vampire tale, it's a story about revenge and the love and hate that exists within families. (I say this for those of you who might be afraid this is going to be just another vampire story. I know that is what I thought when I saw it was about vampires (I'm not very much into vampire stories) but Marcus Brown's first book was not about vampires and I loved it, so I wanted to try this one too.) It answers many questions from the first book, but creates many new ones as the excitement builds up, so you end up getting hooked when at first you said, naw no vampire book is ever going to hook me in haha. And then you just can't wait for the next book to come out and you wish this one had been longer! So A+++++++++++ to Marcus Brown for accomplishing that, from someone who is not a vampire fan. The writing is really good but most of all he is really really good at creating characters that seem real and that you believe in and root for, especially Chloë, the protagonist, and her innocent but tough mother. If you habitually enjoy and read vampire books, you'll really love this one. It's different from any other one and very original, has a little bit of everything, vampires, baddies, people who love each other and would do anything for each other, people filled with hatred. And if like me you're not very much into vampire stories, I'd still recommend this book because the vampire aspect is really not a big part of the story. It's more a story about people deceiving each other, and trying to figure out who is telling the truth and who only pretends to be good and actually wants to hurt other people. And of course like I'd said before, there are also a lot of unanswered questions and people who, at the end of the book, you don't know if they are good or bad or what they are really up to, because you have to wait till the next book to find out. Can't wait for the next one! Fortunately to my delight he seems to be putting them out fairly quickly, so hopefully I won't have to wait long.

It was only a month ago the first part of Marcus' brilliant new series debuted, but it feels longer as I've been waiting for answers to questions posed in part one. The cliffhanger ending got me once again. (He does cliffhangers so well. Read Promised Land Lane if you don't believe me).
Well, I did get answers, and very satisfying they were too, but there is a lot more to reveal, I guess that much already, especially when he closed part two on another cliffhanger - Aaaargh. I loved and hated it in equal measure, but having never been one for patience, I am hoping part three arrives in roughly another four weeks. (Please Marcus)
Saying the above, I could get used to this novella reading. Yes, they are short, probably a quarter of a normal book, BUT, when something is as episodic and enjoyable as this, I have something to look forward to, and know I will get a peaceful couple of hours to myself in order to indulge.
Marcus' writing style is very easy and engaging, with no padding or words I need a dictionary to understand.
The characters are interesting and definitely not predictable. (He kills people off you wouldnt expect, and that is a sign of an author telling the story he wants to tell and not trying to please the masses.)
Fantastic and well derserved 5 Stars.
Can't wait for more from Marcus Brown. He is fast becoming a firm favourite.

"Keep your eyes open. I want to look into them as you die."

Boy, am I sucked in to this series. No pun intended. I literally could not put this down. I read both books 1 (Second Self) and Book 2 in one sitting. The story line grabs you from the start, and the mystery surrounding the events that are happening hold you tight.

Chloe has now learned more about her connection to Kyle than she ever imagined, but it all makes sense now. With Kane coming to claim what belongs to Empusa, Chloe and Kyle find themselves in his cross-hairs. An unexpected ally appears, saying he wants to help, but can he be trusted? Will he use his connection to Chloe and her family to fool them all?

"She's" coming and everything must be in place or humanity as a whole is in danger. Will Kane get what he came for, or will Chloe and Kyle be able to escape?

There is so much going on in this story! You find little by little that all is not what it seems. All are not WHO they seem. Daywalkers, Nightwalkers, witches, consorts, magic and curses. It's riveting!

I cannot wait to sink my teeth into Book 3!!

Marcus Brown did NOT disappoint with this book!! The first book Second Self was VERY good and I didn't know how this book would play out, but since I've read it, it leaves me wanting more. As with Marcus' other books. The answers to everything, or so I think at this moment, are revealed in this book and I'm delighted by them. As always, I'm there with the characters every step of the way! Definitely ready for the next book in the series! Thanks Marcus for delivering AWESOME again!!!

Wow this story us getting better and better. It keeps us always guessing as to what will happen next. Chloe and Kyle finally meet but after that things take a twisted. If get more clues as to what happened all those years ago but are still left with more questions.  I'm looking forward to reading what takes place in book 3. I give this book 5 stars. Wow, I so didn't see the twists coming. All my questions from "Second Self" were answered, but I am now left with new ones. Chloe and Lara learn what happened years ago, but now need to figure out how to move forward. Will they find a way to survive Kane? Will Eduardo be an ally or will he end up hurting them all over again. I'm so looking forward to the next book, "Resurrection". Well done!

Wow! This series has sucked me in!
Secrets are revealed!  Chloe and Lara are aware who Kyle is. Will Kyle continue to protect Chloe or is he an ally to Kane?
Eduardo has made himself know with Lara, Chloe and Kyle. Will he protect them at any costs or has Kane put a bug in his ear?
Evil is still lurking in the shadows waiting to capture the twins for Empusa.
So many twists as the Truth is revealed!
There is a cliffy.

Beginning from where Second Self ended, the action starts right in and doesn't disappoint.
I found this second instalment very easy to read and thoroughly enjoyed the more in depth description of the main characters.
The whole story has a bit of everything from Gypsy Folklore to Vampires to the Supernatural and because of another abrupt ending, I'm eagerly awaiting the third book.

Enjoyed this 2nd book of Chloe and Kyle as they reunite and realise all that's happened to them and the secrets coming from all around them. Book 3 looks to be just intriguing as we find out what's happened.

SO, I have the answers, but this book poses more.
A brilliant continuation to Part One, this really ups the ante until the cliffhanger ending.

The Truth is the second part of The Nightwalker Mysteries by Marcus Brown.

This second part of the Nightwalker Mysteries series was even better than the first, it starts off right where Second Self finishes - leaving no holes in the story.

Chloe now knows who the mystery boy is that she has been dreaming about for years. He tells her everything that she wants to know, maybe a little too much. And with Kane on the hunt for Kyle, Chloe really does need to know everything.

Kyle wants to protect Chloe, he knows that Kane will want to take her too. Chloe wants to protect Kyle, she thinks she can save him from his fate. There is a force in the wind that wants to help them both and Lara.

Empusa is coming and no one is safe.

We get more insight into and background from the characters. We learn a lot more in this part, enough to keep you glued to the pages. I found myself not wanting to put it down. Witches, daywalkers, Nightwalker and humans - this series has it all.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this series takes me next. It's not as straight forward as it first seemed.
