"As co-founder of a major investment bank that has managed hundreds of billions of dollars of IPOs and investment banking transactions for over 1,000 companies (including Google, Intel, Accenture, Dupont, Cray Supercomputer, American Superconductor. . .), I have met many of the brightest minds on Earth. So I don't say this lightly: Ferris is one of the smartest and most thoughtful people I've ever met. He sent me an early copy of Broken Capitalism: This Is How We Fix It to get my feedback before he published it. Without a doubt, it captures the essence of the current debased state of Capitalism and the real-world global economy more succinctly and vividly than any of the 100s of outstanding books on economics, politics, and law that I've read in my lifetime. Economic policymakers and business leaders around the world would be wise to read this book and follow the compelling blueprint that Ferris so clearly and creatively presents." -- David Townes, Co-Founder of Needham & Company Investment Bank

This book is quite the eye opener. Before reading this I wasnt aware just how bad the economy is in America. And how much of a percentage of it's citizens suffer because of the people in charge making some seriously stupid decisions. I recommend this book for anyone interested in this type of reading.

While this book is well written, easy to read and informative, Mr. Eanfar could have done a better job of backing up his point of view with hard data.

Mr. Eanfar does a good job of examining and rebutting many of the beliefs of current liberal economics that is taught in school. The book seems aimed at Libertarians and Mr. Eanfar argues in favor of a more activist government. He very critical of theories that open global trade benefits all parties (indeed is there any true "free trade" with other countries? Other countries operate under a different set of rules then US). Furthermore, Mr. Eanfar explains while there are many stupid regulations in the United States, without fair and smart regulations the big companies dominate the economy. I agree with Mr., Eanfar that the sole goal of a publicly held company is to make money for its shareholders which can lead to many cruel behaviors on its part.

Maybe I am more cynical than other reviewers but sometimes I felt Mr. Eanfar could do a better job in supporting his views. For the record, I agree with most of his positions. However, I did not like the fact that in his book he is constantly asking the readers to give to AngelPay which is not a well-known foundation. It made me think the book was more of a sale brochure than a book that is written to inform the reader. Also Mr. Eanfar is constantly asserting he in an expert in what he does, yet his qualifications are not well known to the public. He makes many statements (i.e. the position of the American worker is in decline which while probably are true, need more objective support.

Thus, while the book is a thought provoking read, the book needs more hard evidence to support its position.

I received a free copy of the book from the author in return for an honest review.

A fascinating set of truths

The first two thirds of the book are descriptions of what is wrong with capitalism as it is being practiced. Basically it concentrates wealth in the hands of a few and is destroying the working class. The last part of the book sets out some idealistic systems, all with three letter acronyms, that, if implemented, could fix it. I marked it down because its proposals are utopian. It doesn’t offer any real hope for breaking the strangle-hold the big corporations have on government, probably because there isn’t any. That makes the “and how to fix it” part of the book title misleading.
