Rate this book
Senior year isn’t an ideal time to switch schools, but Fletcher Haverson needs it for his college applications. Opportunities are great, even if the social side sucks. But life gets unexpectedly better when he meets a sarcastic, gorgeous classmate who’s really fun to kiss. Haddie is the perfect girl—with fangs.

A jealous ex-not-boyfriend and interspecies dating bans are stacked against them, but Fletcher’s willing to risk it. What’s the harm in doing something stupid for love, just once? Turns out, quite a bit.

He’s crossed a line with Haddie and in the world of vampires, there’s nothing worse than being human.

I have been reading this fangtastic series from the beginning, so to read Human by Elisabeth Wheatley and learn Fletchers’s story is a real treat. It is not a happy story, in fact, it’s down right heartbreaking.

Fletcher met Haddasah by happenstance and she has become a reluctant friend. As their friendship grows into something more, they try to deny their love for each other. Hadassah explains why it can never be. A Romeo and Juliet affair? More like Isabella and Edward.

The dialogue between them is snarky and fun.

Oh man, now I really understand why they are on the run and Haddie…

The ending was brutal, savage, fanglorious and I was surprised and agree with Elisabeth that Fletcher’s story needed to be told. It explains Haddie’s actions and the ending made me bump Human’s rating to a four.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Human by Elisabeth Wheatley.

One of the things I love about the FANGED series is that it turns a slew of vampire and teen-love related tropes on their heads. Instead of the Mysterious and Brooding Boy sweeping the Ordinary Girl off her feet, here switch the genders. Instead of it being True Love Prevails Over All and I'm The Exception to Everything, the characters face very real and dire consequences for their actions. I was very excited to read the prequel to the novellas and get to the heart of what started it all.

It didn't disappoint. This is a story about two teenagers drunk on (a very pure and sweet) love for one another who pay the gut-wrenching price for dating across species lines--those of vampire and human. They both feel very real, and just as you'd expect teens in their situation to be, which, sure, makes some parts cheesy (and I LOVE THE CHEESE, LEAVE ME ALONE) and other parts rip out your heart. Even though I knew how it was going to end from the other books, my spirit still wasn't ready.

Whether you're a long-time fan or brand new to the series, HUMAN is a must read.

This novella introduces us to the character of Haddie who is a vampire and attends a human school. She breaks her father's cardinal rule by falling in love with a human (Fletcher) rather than just taking him as a familiar and using him for sex and blood. This novella is the story of Fletcher and Haddie's friendship and love, and the eventual outcome after her father's discovery of it.
I did enjoy the book, which is well-written, but it was written to introduce the reader to the character of Fletcher who appears in the rest of the series in Haddie's flashbacks, and you could very much tell that was the purpose of the book, as there was a lack of real depth to it. However, I'm sure readers who have enjoyed the rest of the series will appreciate the introduction to the character, and a bit more information about who he is. I didn't enjoy it enough to read any more of the series though, so won't be reading it, but that's only my personal opinion!

I wanted to love this book. The story line was interesting. Realizing it is a prequel, maybe that's why it move so fast, but for me, it was too fast. The story seemed to end too abruptly, as well. I liked the beginning, and a portion of the middle, and I suppose reading the blurb for Fanged, I should have known how this book would end, but still, the story seemed to be progressing and interesting, and then it's over, and a very sad ending, at that. I see the appeal, but it just wasn't for me. I am still giving Fanged a try, though.

An interesting high school love story between a human and a vampire. The only thing that I found unenjoyable was the abrupt ending under dire circumstances. However, the ending was bad enough that I've been put off reading more by this author.

Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author. This is my honest review.

Having already read the rest of the Fanged series, I knew that there was only one way for this to end, but it was still all so damn tragic reading it that I cried anyway. This novella made Fletcher all too real after reading about Haddie's memories of him for four books, and now I'm all teary for them both. I hope Elisabeth Wheatley finishes the Fanged series at some point, because I'd REALLY love to see her father get everything that he deserves.

I was hoping Lockhart was the one that actually died and Haddie somehow managed to convince them he was the one she was in love with and that Fletcher had escaped. I hate that he actually died even though it was made repeatedly clear in the other books that he had.

This was sad. I've read the rest of the series so I knew what was going to happen but it still made me very sad. I'm going to have to reread the rest of the series now.

Teenage human angst in the world of vampires. Fletcher doesn't really know what it means to be human in this world. Unfortunately for him he learns the hard way.
