Why did it feel more sinister having read this as a grown-up, than it did when I was (relatively) younger?

নিউমার্কেটে গিয়ে পেলেন অবিকল জমজ দুজনকে। তাদের মধ্যে একজন আবার দাবী করলেন তার কোন ভাই নেই। কলকাতায় একজন ফেলুদার সাথে দেখা করতে এসে খুন হয়ে গেলেন। আর ওই ঘটনার গন্ধ শুকে শুকে ফেলুদা চলে গেলেন নেপালের কাঠমুন্ডুতে। গিয়ে আবার দেখা পেলেন এক ভয়ংকর শত্রুর।
এ বইটা বেশ মজার। বেশ ভাল টার্ন আছে গল্পে।

The irrepressible Bengali investigator Feluda is back with an activity pressed experience. At the point when a customer approaches them to understand the confound of a puzzling impersonator, Feluda's enquiries involve him in a murder examination where the customer himself is the principle suspect! Since all signs point to outside climes, the analyst embarks for outlandish Kathmandu joined by his steadfast writer, Topshe and writer, Jatayu. In Kathmandu, the trio get themselves tenacious by tension and trap every step of the way. A triumphant streak at the clubhouse and Jatayu's LSD initiated silly misfortune make for a night that none of the trio will soon overlook. Who is behind these awful assaults? Is the murder simply a manifestation of significantly greater noxiousness that diseases Kathmandu? Do the crooks of Kathmandu hold the way to the riddle or is there a more evil, recognizable constrain at play?

নেপালের কাঠমান্ডুর এত সুন্দর বর্ণনা তার সাথে পকরা এবং নেপালের অন্যান্য জায়গা সুন্দর্য খুবই সুন্দরভাবে গল্পে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।তার সাথে ভেজাল ওষুধ এবং জালি টাকার সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত মগনলাল মেঘরাজ্যের পুনরায় আবির্ভাব সবচেয়ে বেশি অবাক করেছে। তার সাথে আরেকটি অনন্য বিষয় জানতে পেরেছি সিপাহি বিদ্রোহের পর সব সাহেবেরা পালাতে আসে নেপালের তেরাইতে। এবং সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় যেটা হলো LSD র দুইটা ব্যাপার যেটা আসলেই অনেক অবাক করে দেয়।

WOW, Just WOW.
I remember reading Feluda series when I was still in my teenage. It felt great back then. And it feels different right now. Also greatness is more than ever!
Particularly this story was a great story. It had a claver villain, finniest as ever Mr. Lalmohan Ganguly. To me our hero Feluda was little less active in this one. But then it doesn't matter, because the combined package was quick and fun.

ফেলুদা সিরিজের প্রথম পড়া বই এটি আমার!
ঘটনা শুরু হয়, কলকাতার নিউমার্কেটে বাটরা' নামের একজন ব্যাক্তির সাথে পরিচয়ের মাধ্যমে। যার কয়েক মিনিট পর হুবুহু বাটরার মত আরেকজন ব্যাক্তির সাথে দেখা হয় ফেলুদার।
ফেলুদা প্রথমে ভেবেছিল, বাটরার জমজ ভাই হয়তো। কিন্তু বাটরা তা অস্বীকার করে, ফেলুদাকে নকল বাটরার কারণে তিনি, যে যে সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছে তা ব্যাখ্যা করেন।
এরপর একদিন ফেলুদার সাথে দেখা করার জন্য, নেপাল হতে আসা, অনীকেন্দ্র সোম নামের একজন ব্যাক্তি অ্যাপয়েনমেন্ট নিয়েছিল, যে পরবর্তীতে হোটেল রুমে খুন হয়ে যান!
তার রহস্য উদ্বার করার জন্য ফেলুদা সহ তাঁর সঙ্গী দুজন, নেপালের কাঠমান্ডুতে গিয়ে পুরনো এক শত্রুর সাথে দেখা হয়ে যায়!
রহস্য উন্মোচনের সাথে সাথে নেপালের সংস্কৃতি, প্রকৃতি ইত্যাদি বিষয়গুলো ভালোভাবে ফুটিয়ে তুলা হয়েছে।

বরাবরের মতোই অসাধারণ ফেলুদা, সাথে কাঠমান্ডুর প্রাকৃতিক দৃশ্যের সব বর্ননা আর শেষ মুহূর্তের টুইস্ট! সানডে সাসপেন্সের ফেলুদা’র ভূমিকায় মি. সব্যসাচী আর জটায়ুর কন্ঠ না থাকলে যে গল্পটার মজা অর্ধেক নষ্ট হয়ে যেতো, সেটা গল্পটা শেষ হওয়া মাত্রই বুঝতে পারলাম।
এডমিশন জার্নি পরবর্তী এভারেজ একটা দুপুর যে আমার কতো সুন্দরভাবে কেটে গেলো, এটার কৃতিত্ব তো সত্যজিৎ সাহেব পাবেনই।

মাঝে মাঝেই ফেলুদা আর তোপশের মধ্যে আগের কেসগুলো নিয়ে কথা হয়। যেসব অপরাধীরা ফেলুদার জন্য ধরা পড়ল, তারা কি সত্যিই শুধরাল নাকি কয়লা ধুলে ময়লা যায় না, প্রবাদটির পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠা হলো। এবার ফেলুদার সামনে মোক্ষম সুযোগ বিষয়টা পরিক্ষা করার। তার জন্য ফেলুদাকে অবশ্য যেতে হয়েছে নেপাল।
কলকাতার নিউ মার্কেটে একইরকম চেহারার দুজন মানুষের সাথে দেখা, কিন্তু তারা যমজ ভাই নয়। একজনের নাম মি. বাটরা। পরিচয়েরেক দিনের মধ্যেই একটা খুন। খুনের রহস্য সমাধান করতে ফেলুদা পাড়ি জমালেন কাঠমান্ডুতে।
নেপালের বর্ননা গুলো খুবই প্রাণবন্ত ছিল। আর ফেলুদা তো বরাবরের মতোই অনন্য।

ফেলুদার সবগুলির মধ্যে আমার সবচেয়ে বেশি ভাল লাগে এবার কান্ড কেদারনাথে আর এটা। কেন?
কাঠমুন্ডুর অমন দারুণ ভিভিড বর্ণনা, পাশাপাশি চলা দুটো রহস্য, আর সেরা ভিলেন মগনলাল মেঘরাজ। আর কি চাই!
আর হ্যাঁ, ফেলুদা তো আমাদের প্রতিবছরই দু'একটা পড়া হবেই। এবার মির্চির অডিওবুকে মজাটায় চোখ বন্ধ করে ডুবে গিয়েছিলাম। মির্চির প্রেজেন্টেশন নিয়ে বলার কিছু নাই।

A very good premise, slightly more humorous than usual and the story is pretty great. My only issue is that the reveal was too clichéd and basic. Other than that, a good book.

কলকাতার নিউমার্কেটে হাঁটতে হাঁটতেই রহস্যের আবির্ভাব। আর সেই রহস্য ফেলুদার দলকে নিয়ে গেল কাঠমান্ডুর দরবার স্কয়ারে। ঘটনার জট কোথায়, তা আগেই খানিকটা টের পেয়েছিলাম। ফেলুদার অতুলনীয় পর্যবেক্ষণ ক্ষমতা সেই জট ছাড়ালো।
এই গপ্পে লালমোহনবাবু বেশ বিনোদন দিয়েছেন। তার বিলিতি কায়দায় "হাই-হ্যালো-ওক্কে" শুনতে বেশ লাগলো।
আর কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা নিয়ে সত্যজিৎ রায়ের দারুন উত্তেজনার কথা কি বলব— তিনি আকাশপথে কাঠমান্ডু যেতেও কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘার উপমা দিতে ভুললেন না। দেশভ্রমণের ভালোই লোভ হচ্ছিল। বিশেষত, নেপালের মন্দির, দরবার স্কয়ার আর পাহাড়ি রাস্তার বর্ণনায়।
রহস্যের উপন্যাস, সাথে খানিকটা বিদেশ ভ্রমণের স্বাদ— দারুণ!

জমজ ভাইয়ের রহস্যটা তো শুরু থেকেই মাথা খারাপ করিয়ে দেয়। একজন বলছে তার কোনো ভাইই নেই — আ��� ঠিক তার চেহারারই আরেকজন হাজির! এর মধ্যেই কলকাতায় অপরিচিত মানুষটির খুন… পুরো ব্যাপারটাই যেন প্যাঁচে ভরা।
আর ফেলুদার সেই শত্রুর মুখোমুখি হওয়ার অংশটা তো রীতিমতো চমকপ্রদ! কাঠমান্ডুর পরিবেশ, ভিন্ন সংস্কৃতি — সব মিলিয়ে সাসপেন্সটা ধরে রাখতে সত্যজিৎ রায়ের জুড়ি নেই। প্রতিটা "টার্ন" অপ্রত্যাশিত, কিন্তু যুক্তিগ্রাহ্য। সত্যিই বলতে, এই বইটা ফেলুদা সিরিজের অন্যতম সেরা টুইস্ট-অ্যান্ড-টার্ন যুক্ত গল্প!

আরেকটা Absolute Cinema গপ্পো 🙌
পুরাটা গল্প জুড়ে যে একটা চাপা সাসপেন্স ছিল, এবাদে জটায়ুর LSD খেয়ে বিদিখিস্তি অবস্থা সবই এতত মজা দিচ্ছিল বলার বাইরে। কিন্তু শেষটায় কেন জানি সম্পূর্ণ তৃপ্তিটা পেলাম না৷ কেন জানিনা, সত্য উন্মোচনটা কেমন জানি পানসাটে ঠেকল 😓

SUMMARY:
Feluda met a person named Batra from Nepal who told him that there was someone identical to him. He suspected that he might get entangled in difficult situations due to his doppelgänger’s wrongdoings. So, he asked Feluda to investigate the matter. Feluda also saw a man identical to Batra and determined a difference—the fake Batra was a lefty.
When Feluda returned from Esplanade, a man named Aniket Some called him to make an appointment. But before he could meet Feluda, a call came from the police saying that Feluda’s number had been found in a dead body’s phonebook. The victim was none other than Aniket Some.
From the victim’s diary and some investigation, Feluda learned that Aniket Some and Batra were both from Nepal and suspected that some shady business was happening there. Feluda decided it was imperative to go to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, Feluda learned that Some was investigating fake medicine because he believed his best friend Himadri had been killed by a fake tetanus injection given by Dr. Dibakar.
While sightseeing, Tapesh and Jatayu saw the fake Batra. They followed him and found the godown of the fake medicine. They were seen but managed to escape and told Feluda everything.
While they were enjoying themselves at a casino, a lady approached and told them that her superior wanted to meet them. They agreed to go. The lady escorted them to a room where a person was sitting on a sofa. Seeing this person, Topesh’s heart skipped a beat—he was petrified to see the conniving Maghanlal Meghraj. They also saw the fake Batra, whom Maganlal called his right-hand man, Jagdish. They realized that this fake drug business was being run by none other than Maganlal. Maganlal threatened them to stop their investigation, but after returning, Feluda's investigation intensified, leading to the abduction of Feluda and his team.
After the abduction, when Maganlal was boasting to Feluda, he revealed everything about his business, not knowing it was a trap. The police arrived and arrested Maganlal. Feluda had recorded the confession where M detailed his fake medicine business. It was submitted to the police as evidence.
Through the ink of a fountain pen, Feluda identified that there was no fake Batra, a.k.a. Jagdish; there was only Anantlal Batra. Dr. Dibakar was also abducted. He SURMISED Batra when he saw ink stain on Batra's finger. He deduced When lefties use a fountain pen, there is a peculiar angle in which the pen erodes, and ink stains their fingers. the same stain was in Batra's right hand when he was trying to write with right hand in front of Feluda.
Feluda revealed that Dr. Dibakar was part of Maganlal's gang. Apparently, he did not give a fake tetanus shot accidentally; he poisoned Himadri because he was investigating the fake medicine gang. Feluda suspected him through his sudden surge of wealth and the opulence in his lifestyle.

মি বাটরা এর সাথে ফেলুদার দেখা হয় কলকাতায়। সেদিনই বাটরার মতো একদম সেম টু সেম আরেকজন এর সাথে দেখা হয়। কিন্তু পরের দিন মি বাটরার কাছে ফেলুদা জানতে পারে যে নকল বাটরা অনেক সমস্যা করছে। সেদিনই অনীকেন্দ্র সোম ফেলুদাকে কোনো একটা ব্যাপার বলার জন্য ফোন করে এবং পরের দিন খুন হয় হোটেলে। এই রহস্য সমাধান করার জন্য ফেলুদা নেপাল এ যায়। মি বাটরা সেখানেই থাকে। সেখানে গিয়ে জানতে পারে যে হিমাদ্র চক্রবর্তী ভেজাল টিটেনাস ইঞ্জেকশন নেয়ার কারণে মারা যায়। সেজন্য তার বন্ধু অনীকেন্দ্র সোম এই ভেজাল ঔষুধ নিয়ে তদন্ত করতে কলকাতা আসে এবং তাকে খুন করে ফেলা হয়। নেপালে ফেলুদার দেখা হয় আরেক ভিলেন এর সাথে। "জয়বাবা ফেলুনাথ" এর মোগনলাল মেঘরাজ । সে ওখানে ভেজাল ঔষধ এর কারবার চালায়। তদন্ত করে ফেলুদা বুঝতে পারে নকল বাটরা নাই। বাটরা একজনই। সে মোগনলাল মেঘরাজ এর রাইট হ্যান্ড। সবাইকে পুলিশে হস্তান্তর করা হয়।

ফেলুদা সিরিজের অধিকাংশ গল্পের একটা অতিরিক্ত পাওয়া ভ্রমন কাহিনী। ফেলুদা বিভিন্ন সময়ে রহস্য সমাধান করতে ভারত এবং ভারতের বাইরে নানান শহরে ভ্রমণ করেন। এই গল্পেও ফেলুদা তার বাহিনী নিয়ে নেপালের রাজধানী কাঠমান্ডুতে যান। নেপালের রাজপরিবার এবং কিছু কিছু ইতিহাস ইত্যাদি সম্পর্কে বর্ননা পাওয়া যায়। এমনি কি এক জায়গায় ফেলুদা তপেশকে সাবধান করতে বলেছেন-'আমাদের কাঠমান্ডু এ্যাডভেঞ্চার সম্বন্ধে যখন লিখবি, তখন খেয়াল রাখিস যে ফেলু মিত্তিরের গোয়েন্দা কাহিনী যেন নেপালের ট্যুরিস্ট গাইড না হয়ে পড়ে।'

কিছু কিছু বই পড়তে গেলে মনের মধ্যে এত শান্তি অনুভূত হয়, এই বইটা ঠিক সেরকম। সত্যজিৎ রায় মানেই গল্পকে অযথা না টেনে পরতে পরতে তথ্য দিয়ে গল্পটাকে সুন্দরভাবে শেষ করা। কোনোরকম টানাটানি নেই, ড্রামা নেই, একদম সরলভাবে গল্পকে কিভাবে গুছিয়ে লেখা যায় তা বোধ হয় শুধু উনিই জানেন।
উনার কতগুলো বই পড়েছি তা আমার মনে নেই। এই বইটার প্রচ্ছদ বেশ সুন্দর। বাতিঘর থেকে বইটি কিনি৷ পুরা একটা বোহো টাইপ ভাইব দিচ্ছিল প্রচ্ছদটা। কারণ প্রচ্ছদে একটুখানি অন্যরকম রঙ! ছোট একটা বই, তবে পড়তে বেশ লাগে। 😍

চমৎকার....এর থেকে বেশী আর কি বলবো খুঁজে পাচ্ছি না।
এখনও পর্যন্ত যতগুলো ফেলুদার গল্প পড়েছি(যদিও সেটা খুব বেশি না) তার মধ্যে এটা স���থেকে ভালো লাগলো। আর কাটমন্ডুর এত ভালো বর্ণনা আছে,মনে হচ্ছিলো যেনো সব চাক্ষুষ প্রত্যক্ষ করছি। আর একটা জিনিস না বলে পারছিনা,মিঃ বাটরার রহস্যটা প্রথম থেকেই বুঝে গিয়েছিলাম।🤗

যত কাণ্ড কাঠমান্ডুতে বলেই দুটো খুন থেকে শুরু করে জাল ওষুধ, জাল নোট সহ সব রহস্যের সমাধানই হলো কাঠমান্ডুতে। গল্পে বেশ ভালো টুইস্ট ছিল। নেপালের বিভিন্ন জায়গার নিপুণ বর্ণনা ছিল। সব মিলিয়ে দারুণ একটা গল্প । তবে লালমোহন বাবুর ক্যাসিনো খেলা আমার ব্যাক্তিগতভাবে ভালো লাগেনি। এমনিতে অন্যান্য সব দিক থেকে জমজমাট কাহিনি ছিল। দারুণ লেগেছে গল্পের টুইস্টগুলো।

This was my introduction to Feluda. A travel story with a double, an old enemy, and drugs - it's a very enjoyable afternoon read. The story has a few convenient coincidences and a couple of loose threads, but it's still one of the best Feluda story in my opinion.

সত্যজিৎ রায়ের অন্যান্য গল্পের থেকে এই গল্পের প্লট ইউনিক।গল্পটাও ভালো। এবারকার গল্পটা শুধু ফেলুদাকে ঘীরে ছিলোনা; তোপসে আর জটায়ুর ভালো একটা ভূমিকা আছে এখানে। সেইসাথে ফেলুদার যে কোনো গল্পে লালমোহন আর মগনলাল এর কেমিস্ট্রিটা বড়ই আনন্দদায়ক 🤗
