"Beautifully written love story..." Elizabeth Lennox, Author of the Thorpe Brothers series.

WHAT IF YOU AND YOUR FIRST LOVE GET YOUR HAPPY-EVER-AFTER, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK OUT? Then years later you come face to face with each other...

This story follows a beautiful, frustrated wife and artist who is reunited with the gorgeous hero with Bollywood-good-looks and charisma. When fate brings them face to face again, can they put their past behind, or will their intense passion reignite and endanger everything in its path?

THE OLDER GENERATION BROKE THEM APART…
Lia Abraham gave up everything for her family and culture—art, autonomy and even self-worth. Worst of all was the sacrifice of Bollywood-gorgeous, idealistic Devraj Shah, when Lia caved in to pressure from both their families. She broke her first love’s heart by marrying the “right” Jewish man.

THE YOUNGER GENERATION REUNITES THEM…
Nineteen years later, minutes after Lia demands a divorce from her cheating husband, her world turns upside down again; Devraj is at her door. His nephew and Lia’s feisty teenage daughter are repeating history. They’re in love, but the now reserved, enigmatic Devraj is dead-set against the couple’s marriage plans. He is convinced Lia’s daughter will ultimately reject his nephew the way Lia had rejected Devraj.

After years of feeling caged in a loveless marriage, Lia embraces her newly found freedom, and her resurgent passion for Devraj is irresistible. Once again, she surrenders to the true love of her life, but their affair re-ignites opposition from both families. Will Lia’s second chance at love again destroy her loved ones and her dreams?

Torn once again between her love for Devraj, her family responsibilities and her need for true independence, will Lia choose duty over the desires of her heart?

"Second Destiny is at its heart a romance, but it is so much more than that..." Natasha Jackson, Readers' Favorite

I liked the idea of reading about a different culture to the genre I usually read.
I like second chance romance but I found Devraj and Lia frustrating.
She is stubborn and doesn't want to give up her independence but he is not listening to some of the things she says also. I don't want to explain why they were both annoying as it would give away the storyline but I don't like using another woman or man to hurt the H/h or them being with someone else if they are in love with the H/h.
I actually thought they may have been better off living without each other.

Lia, had a college sweetheart and soul mate, Devraj, yet fate keeps them apart. In a tale like Romeo and Juliette, they're separated by cultural rifts within their family; hers Jewish, and his, East Indian.
Marrying another man, she didn't want, she settled for a lifetime of raising two children, with a husband she didn't love.
Twenty years later in a twist of fate, her daughter, Danielle wants to marry Sanjay, a college sweetheart. The nephew of Devraj, brings fate to the door, reuniting Lia and him. Lia's son, Gabe, is dead-set against the interloper, Devraj.
In a tale of love that spans decades, author, Gloria Silk captures your heart, when love beats every challenge, and two people share their destiny.
Highly recommended for readers who love a happy ending. I give this book a solid 5/5.

Second Destiny,The older generation broke them apart, the younger generation reunites them, Gloria Silk
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: General fiction (adult) , Romance

I thought this sounded interesting, conflict of religions, conflict of career v relationship, and then Lia's daughter falls in love with Devraj' nephew Sanjay, and its the race/religion issue all over again.

Times change though and Lia's daughter Danielle is determined to stand up for her love. She's the same age as Lia was when she fell in love with Devraj, but very different in strength, outlook, confidence.
Lia's brought her up sure of her own worth, whereas she was only of value to her family for the marriage she could make, not herself, her art, just a woman to be married off to the right man, the one the family chose, not the one she loved.
Its kind of easy to say she should have been stronger, but if you aren't brought up to express your own feelings, push for your own way, know your own value then its hard to go against family pressure.
Lia's a grown woman now though and she frustrated me, she's still faffing about, not sure of what she wants and I just didn't see what reasons she had to push Devraj away as she did. She's still in love with him, she can have her newly fledged career and him, but she seems to think its an either/or situation, and I don't see where that comes from.

I loved Danielle and Sanjay - very much in love, very determined to stay together. They have a real maturity about them that they'll need, given the families opposition. Danielle's dad is a typical misogynistic guy, men have all the answers, women are there for men's convenience. He only pays lip service to his religion too - sadly there's many like that, outwardly devoted to whatever religion, while actually ignoring all the tenants of it.
Gabe, Danielle's younger brother was a great kid and felt very real, I liked his parts in the story.

Devraj, I understood his bitterness at Lia, but didn't see where this antagonistic view of Danielle was coming from. He seemed the last person to me to object, if his nephew was happy, but at first he was so determined to split them up - then he does a complete turnaround, and that just didn't feel real, didn't sit right with me.

The story itself is a mix of Danielle and Sanjay, Lia and Devraj, and plods along gently, but without any real plots IMO. I felt it was filling pages much of the time rather than telling a story. I didn't feel the drama, didn't feel the situations were real, and that coloured my whole view of the romance(s).
The slightly clunky addition to the title sums up the way the novel felt to me, potentially great but for me too dated and bland, a lot like reading a 70's M&B novel - millions of readers love them, and I'm happy for them, but they're not for me.

Stars: Two and a half, sounded really interesting, there were a few good bits but mostly too bland for me.

This wasn't how I was expecting the first book to lead into at all, and I am so happy that the author turned the story around and made it something that was so unpredictable. I loved this book and how Lia and Devraj meet again in life. Lia gave up her life for her family and her culture. She broke Devraj's heart by marrying the guy her family wanted her to be with. Now her daughter is in love with Devraj's nephew and wants to get married. Devraj is very against it because he doesn't want to see his nephew hurt. Lia and Devraj still have an intimate connection and it was amazing to see it unfold again. I loved this book and I can't wait to read more from this author.

An amazing story of love and second chances across the great divide of cultural and religious differences, this book is heartwarming, well written and deeply emotional. Despite having found the love of her life, Lia chooses instead to follow the dictates of family duty and religious expectations when she marries Howard, a wealthy and somewhat entitled surgeon. After nineteen years of loveless marriage, a looming crisis forces Lia to take stock of her situation and file for divorce. Following right on the heels of his husband's infidelity, Lia is shocked to find that the uncle of the young man her daughter has fallen in love with is the same man she turned her back on all those years ago. History is indeed repeating itself. Whilst this is a story of young love intertwined with mature love, it is also about one woman's bid to rediscover herself after years of living in the shadow of her family as the mother of her children and the dutiful wife of her husband. Having sacrificed her own dreams and desires, she is torn between taking life in both hands and living it to the full, or taking a second chance on the love she lost so many years before. This beautifully written novel is a standalone and comes to a joyful and colourful conclusion. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

This is an interesting and enjoyable read. Lia and Devraj were college sweethearts who were driven apart by family members due to cultural differences. Twenty years later, they met again after Lia decided to divorce her cheating husband and when her daughter and dev's nephew fell in love and decided to get married against all odds.
Lia and Dev rekindled their love, and started seeing each other again. But Lia is so frustrating because she doesn't want to give up her freedom and go all the way with Dev. Will their love be able to survive this time around for them to have their happily ever after? Find out by grabbing your copy. "I received this book for free from eBook discovery. This is the second book in the series.
The first book ended with Lia marrying someone else. This book starts twenty years later. Lia is getting divorced and her daughter is getting engaged. Which brings Devraj back into her life.
This is the story of second chances. It follows through with Lia starting a new job and trying to start life over she doesn't want the distraction of dating and her pride is only going to hurt her.
The twist in this story from the first story was great. I was happy to see where the author went with this book.

I enjoyed it alot as the story was good and enjoyable. I love bollywood and it was lovely to read a book with indian culture and bollywood as a central part of it.
I didnt like the heroine as she came across as weak and unable to stick to one decision. It felt like she was using the hero. The hero was fantastic and did so much to prove he was what she wanted in a life partner but she refused to see it.
The ending didnt seem as genuine as it could have been.
Some parts i didnt like so the rating lost 1 star.

Devrah and Lia were sweethearts and met in college. Lia thought Devrah was her soulmate! But, fate turned her in another direction. She married another man had two kids. Devrah and Lia had a lot of cultural and religious differences that made them go their separate ways. And their families were both happier. Now Lia's daughter,Danielle decides she wants to marry Sanjay who she met at the university. Fate turns things around again. Sanjay is Devrah's nephew. Which brings Lia and Devrah face to face again. A Must Read. I received this book for free from Ebook Discovery. I volunteered to review it and this is my honest review.

Compelling second chance at love romance

Gloria Silk did a good job of setting the stage for this love story. Lia and Devraj are madly in love as teenagers. However their different cultures and the elders of their family break them
apart. Fast forward 19 years and they are thrown together again by Daniella and Sanjay a couple in the midst of their own love story. The couple had their share of ups and downs. In the end love triumphed

If you like stories about culture, traditions and a true love that bridges the space and belief's that hang us up. Then you should get this book and the one before it too. With "First Destiny" you get a love story that strains to be given freedom to bloom. With "Second Destiny" you get the freedom from someone else's destiny and the struggle not only to find ones self but to realize that true love is more freeing than confining. You just have to have the courage to reach out and grab it.

Second Destiny by Gloria Silk is the second book in Destiny series. It is the story of different cultures, and generational views. Mostly it is a story of second chances. It is wellwritten. It is a quick read. A little different than my normal read but interesting.
I won a copy thru a Goodreads Giveaway.

Love this story!

First, at last, love is given a second chance. The second book can be read as a stand alone but is also the second in the series. This is a wonderful story. Having spent some time in India a lot of good memories were revisited. Gloria's writing is almost lyrical. For those who love the Indian culture and second chances.

I was a fortunate winner of a copy of this sweet book. If you're looking for a quick read of a lovely romance this is for you. Boy and girl from different cultures meet and their families object so they separate. Life goes on until the universe intervenes. Enjoy the quick read.

Timeless Romantic Love Triumphs
Lia is a loving mother and conscientious wife who’s dedicated to keeping her family together even though her obnoxious husband, cares more about the community opinion than their strong headed daughter’s happiness. Determined to discuss this, Lia witnesses her husband in another woman’s arms.
She’s finally had it with him and his cold, snobbish family members. A divorce is the only way to salvage what’s left of her pride and self-esteem. Lia’s set on reigniting her artistic career and single-handedly support her two children.
Then her first love, Devraj, dramatically re-enters her life.
I enjoyed reading this cross-cultural and multi-layered timeless romance, which is filled with passion, the pain of losing love and the joy of finding it again. The multi-generational characters came alive for me, especially the snobbish in-laws, the old-fashioned grandparents and the children. I could also feel the push and pull that Lia endured as she tried to satisfy her need and longing for Dev while still ensuring that her children felt safe and loved.
Second Destiny is a riveting story of passion and undying love that crosses culture and time to be
fulfilled. I can’t wait to read Gloria Silk’s next one.

Wow what a great sequel to the first book. Lia ended up caving into her family's wishes and her culture, she married the "right" man that her family wanted her to be with. She lost her one and true love Devraj. It's nineteen years later now and Lia's own teenage daughter is in love with Devraj's nephew. Lia can't believe that her own story is repeating itself again. Devraj is very against the marriage because he doesn't want Lia's daughter to break his nephew's heart in the same way that Lia did to him. Lia is finally getting divorced from her husband who had cheated on her and realizes that it was the wrong decision to marry him. Lia is free from her marriage, but she doesn't know where to go next. Devraj is still on her mind and she has a thing for him. This story was so beautifully written! I was truly sucked into the story and I could not set it down. This series has been amazing and I hope that Gloria Silk will come out with more books.

I read the first book of Lia and Devraj’s story and it was amazing. However, the second book, “Second Destiny” is phenomenal! Not only does Lia and Devraj's forbidden love resurface and is threatened again, but another younger couple close and dear to them both are experiencing similar challenges. Emotions and tension fuel this book, and had me anxiously turning each page, until there were no more to turn! No matter who you are, or your cultural background, I guarantee this book will open your eyes and pull on your heart in many different ways. I strongly recommend it. It took me on an unforgettable, emotional, roller coaster ride, and I’ve just got to share it with all!

First destiny was so fantastic that I knew this was going to be another great read. I was impressed with the uplifting cover and that this got such a positive review. Now I'm even more impressed by the amount of wisdom Yvonne Finn shared inside. I didn't even know who Your Relationship Whisperer is, but I recommend this book to anyone who's serious about getting into, or staying in a satisfying and loving them in as much detail as I'd have liked. it said at the end of the book in What's Coming Next part, that the writer is writing about this very subject in great depth in her next upcoming book. Can't wait.

This book is the second in the destiny series and it continues the story of Lia and Devrag, 20 years later they have a second chance at their first love. I loved the first book and I love this one even more because the characters are more mature and dealing with different issues at a later stage in life.
I like the fact that their choices led them to different paths only to circle back to each other and get the chance to do things differently this time around.
I really enjoy the way Gloria silk writes, she gives the reader all the emotions of a heart wrenching romance plus an in-depth understanding of what motivates the characters.

Lia's problems are much more complex than they were in the previous book. The storyline was interesting, but Devraj was so annoying that I couldn't fully enjoy the story. His personality was the same as if was in the first one, but he was a young college student, so I could stand it. However, he is in his 40s in this book and still so pushy and selfish. It made me irritated while I was reading it. I do not like this type of guy.
If the ending was different, I might like this book more than I do. But I couldn't accept this ending...
