Hereafter

Rate this book
In the year 3030 an alien species known as the Thrakorian’s attacked Earth, and won. They came on a research mission and in search of one thing, and one thing only—answers. The humans held the key to finding those resolutions and after searching relentlessly for over two decades, the Thrakorian’s finally found their cure.
Everything was going perfectly, until the scientist in charge of cultivating the vaccine steered things in a purely selfish direction. Greegis had manipulated them all into believing he had a stable serum within his reach, when in fact he had nothing.

Prince Kronus wants to find the solution with the help of his team of scientists dedicated to producing their cure. And while he’s at it, he might just find answers to some of the other questions stirring within him. Haunting him. Holding him back. Things that have nothing to do with his disease or the uncertainty of the future, but something else entirely, and it just happens that there is someone willing to help him. Someone who comes crashing into his life and ends up being unlike anyone he’s ever known before. A young woman who might penetrate that icy exterior at long last and help him be the type of leader he always wanted to be. The leader he knows he’s truly capable of becoming…

Aaarrrggghhh! Despite being on book four of the invasion day series, it just never gets old and LC Morgan never fails to bring something fresh and revitalising to this series. Despite the cliffhanger on book three killing me, this story just continues to develop...
The story of Prince Kronus and his fathers ongoing illness of the Thraks continues to take its toll and the ongoing battle to find a cure is one step closer when he meets Gretchen.

Excerpt:
For the first time in so incredibly long, he felt something for another person that had nothing to do with his sense of duty or the chivalrous ways that'd been ingrained in him since birth. He felt pity. Empathy....it was like Kyra on that rooftop all over again, but this time, he wasn't on a mission or in a rush...she was striking. A true and innocent beauty. Her eyes were full of fear but also hope, the likes he hadn't seen in over twenty years.

As Kronus battles with his emotions over the slave girl who opened his eyes to more than his position of power, we see a change in him. A change that not even Kyra could have predicted.

Excerpt:
Kronus cares about you in his own way, Gretchen. You're headstrong and wise beyond your years, as though you've lived a thousand lifetimes and are a free spirit, regardless of the body you're in and walks placed around you. With you close by, he can soak up some of your free spirit and it lifts him in ways he cannot understand. Ways that scare him.

Seeing the dynamic changing between Kyra and the thraks she had been so vital to, was really interesting and kept me on my toes. But admit to feeling wary of a new woman on the scene, I quickly knew she was going to be an integral part.

Another mind blowing instalment of the invasion day series, and so excited to see what direction the rest of the series will take!

Final excerpt:
I think you're more that just what he needs, Gretchen. I think you might be what this entire world needs. A voice for the people. A storyteller who can bring to light the truths others have tried to hide.

Wow. What a book. If you have not yet read books 1-3 in the Invasion Day Series, you need to read them in order first. (If you have not yet read books 1-3 this review will contain spoilers).

This book is extremely well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author does a great job portraying the characters and their emotions. I was so excited to read the next installment of this series and I wasn't disappointed. Once I started the book I didn't want to put it down, and the only reason I did at all was because I was driving.

Books 1-3 focused on Kyra. This book focuses more on Prince Kronus. He invaded Earth as was his mission, to find a cure for the Ehrad disease plaguing his people, including himself and his family. While his mission was a success, they only have a temporary treatment and Kyra's blood is the only carrier.

Kronus has only ever loved one person, but her heart now belongs to another. After having broken off his relationship to Mariah, he is alone with no one in mind to take her place. Until the most unlikely person crashes into his life. Will he push her away or could she possibly work her way into his heart?

All the while Chief Thrayke and the team working under him are more determined than ever to make a permanent cure for the Ehrad disease. Without all of the notes and work done by Greegis, the team is struggling. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their way?

I highly recommend this book and series to those who enjoy YA, romance, aliens, end of the world books.

Hereafter (book 4 in the Invasion day series)

This series took my heart and shredded it. Although this is a YA series I absolutely love it and the best bit is my 13 year old son also loves it and so we read it and share thoughts on it. So not only had this book got me completely enthralled but also bonding time with my stroppy teen…. win all round as far as I'm concerned.

This book takes a bit of a different turn to the previous three books in the series but it is very welcome and keeps the series from going stale like some can after more than three books. We see old and new characters and this book focuses on some characters from previous books but doesn't take away from the main plot but thickens it even more. It opens up a whole new web of storylines while tying others up brilliantly.

The story is still as fresh as it was when I first read Humankind all that time ago. I still want more even now after reading book 4 I have to have more and I hope that this series continues on for a long time to come!

This is a typical book from this author with out of this world detailing and descriptions and plots. The twists and turns leave you open mouthed and just needing more. I assure you this story will chew you up and spit you out while laughing at you. At the end of this book I looked for more because I needed to know more! But there wasn't more and so we shall have to wait for book 5 which I hope won't be too far away.

This book and the whole series is a solid 5 star read and if you haven't started it yet go do it! You won't regret it.

Number four in the series, this was by far the worst. Not only did Book three end on a cliffhanger, with Kyra in the hands of that crazy doctor/scientist, and her friends not being able to reach her - this current book glosses over the rescue as part of Kronus' memories of that day; right before he finds an escaped slave, and the reader slowly realises this is about Kronus and Gretchen, and the storyline about Kyra and her trials has apparently ended for the most part.
I read about a quarter of this, with even more spelling and bad grammar errors, and I am sorry to say, but frankly speaking, I had enough of this series.
In my opinion, each book was a bit worse than the last one, until now, at book 4, I actually left out reading chapters, and looked at the end (which - what a surprise! - ended on another cliffhanger), and that is something I really really don't do usually.
I decided I do not have to read this properly, and declare this finished, and myself finished with reading this series.
In all fairness, the plots are nto that bad, the storytelling as such is not too bad, it just got worse with each book in my opinion, with too many thought processes (which were, I admit, sometimes downright boring, sorry to say), and not enough action sequences.
Not my taste, but I am sure a lot of readers will like this type of story and narration style.

I was desperate to get my hands on this after the major cliffhanger in resonant, we soon learn that despite Greegis’ best efforts to terminate Kyra it is indeed his modifications which are her salvation, told in retrospect it’s clear from the start that this will not be so much of a continuation of Kyra’s story but that of Kronus.

I adore Kyra and could read about her all the time but it was also refreshing to see more of Kronus’s side and it opened up so much more of the story and life on Thrakor. We have a new, powerful, female lead in the form of Gretchen. She is a world away from Kyra but still a force to be reckoned with in her own right, humble and innocent, a chance for Kronus to do things right this time when responding to her request for help.

From the outset i’m very relieved that there was no love triangle here, I was happy that Resonant resulted in Kyra maintaining her relationship with Thrayke and I was worried that there would be a challenge for Kyra’s hand. Whilst it’s fair to say that i’m still warming up to Gretchen, I love the change in dynamic she brings to story.

Plot wise there is a ton going on, we are introduced to new planets and races, help with finding a cure comes from an unlikely source and my mind is racing with whether there could be any backlash arising from that! A new threat brings the chance for Kyra to get back to her old self and I can’t wait to read all about it when she does!

I have read each of the Invasion Day series books and each one leaves me wanting more! This did not disappoint!

Kronus becomes more and more desirable as he fights with his own emotions and demons! The introduction of other species and more insight into his family leaves you totally intrigued and reminds you of the hierachy within their planets.

I love Gretchen....what a great addition to the rest of the characters and it was great to concentrate more on Kronus but still have snippets of Kyra and Thrayke and great reminders of Kyra's beginnings.

Still loving Domo..he's so loyal to Kronus but quick to give advice to help Gretchen. He's a great character to watch develop.

I am always in awe of the details Laura includes and puts into her books, the details about the disease and treatment are so in-depth.

I began to panic that this was the end of the Invasion series but oh no.....there is so much more that could happen from here! It has me gripped and eager for the next instalment!

This book is the 4th of this amazing dystopian series......
Yet again Laura has blown me away with her words?!
This series was my first dystopian and i have not looked back.
Every book has left me gripped and unable to put them down?!
Although this book veers off from the main heroine onto one of the main male characters i was not dissapointed!
I flove Kronus and have from book one and i loved getting more of an insight into him.
It was amazing to meet the new female character too. She is sassy and perfect?!
This is easily a one click?!
