Jess Buffett was born and raised in New South Wales, Australia. Jess is a mum of two, married to her high school sweetheart. She is a hopeless romantic who is a huge fan of M/M and M/F romance with a happy ending—anything with hunky men in all their glory, whether they be Shifters, Vampires, Cowboys, or the boy next door. A caffeine addict who shamefully can’t make a decent cup of coffee to save her life, Jess believes in soul mates, happily ever afters, and in love at first sight, but that sometimes people need a second or a third for the brain to catch up.
A great book from these 2 authors. Set in Australia. Story was free flowing, and full of story not filler. Looking forward to more from this series.Enjoyable to read., left me wanting more.
I loved the way this story started out. We are introduced to Will who is has had a thing for one of his best friend's older brother. Come to find out there is more than attraction here. Axel is the quintessential Alpha male. He is a protector, carrying, and just want everybody to be safe and happy. Many things occur in this book and many secrets pop up. We get to learn more about Will and also his background. Axel is a new Alpha and he is trying to find his way and Will is his perfect partner when it comes to navigating.
I cannot wait to see what occurs next with this series. There are so many questions that I need answered and I need more information pertaining to Will and axle and also Axel's mother. I love the epilogue that the author's gave us. You can tell that Axle's mother does not care if Axel is gay or not. All she wants is grandbabies and she wanted them yesterday.
Will has been asked to the shifter community to welcome the newest Alpha, Axel. Not being a shifter himself and hopelessly in love with Axel he's intimidated and unsure. But Will finds out he's got nothing to worry about because Axel has know Will to be his Mate for a long time. Except suddenly from the woodwork Hunters and Witches appear and things aren't all smooth sailing.
An intense and action packed read, I thoroughly adored this book. Both Will and Axel are perfect characters for each other and I could help but fall in love with them both. There was plenty of action and a whole lot of suspense that kept me reading late into the night.
A great new paranormal read! Collaboration was seamless! Can't wait to see what's next. Have a feeling we are headed to Victoria! Bravo Jess Buffet & Tamsin Baker!
Human Will Summer has been in love with Alpha heir Axel Woodland of the Woodland Leap since before he was in his teens. When Axel joined the military before becoming the leap alpha, as is the tradition in his family, Will never stops thinking of him or missing him.
When Axel's homecoming day finally arrives Will knows that he will be mated soon after, as is also family tradition, and Will doesn't know if he can continue to stay around and watch even though it would mean losing his best friend who is Axel's brother and ultimately losing Axel altogether. There is obviously a lot more to this story after that point.
It was a good base storyline and I had high expectations for it, but it was sorely lacking. Maybe that's on me for hoping for too much. The biggest problem I had with it is that the whole relationship between Axel and Will felt flat. The words were all said, but I felt absolutely no emotion for them as characters or even for them towards each other as a couple. I couldn’t connect to them at all. I want to feel their emotions. Their highs and lows. Their ecstasy and depression and worries, but I felt none of it. It was just words.
Next, I appreciate that the author was trying to have Will come off as a strong young man and not a weepy kid. However instead of looking like he was strong he came off as a bit of a brat and frankly with the attitude of "don't ever try to help me I can take care of myself."
Last, it ended rather abruptly and I felt like there were holes in the story and things I was missing even before the ending.
I was surprised that such a short book could contain so much and yet not seem overwhelming and disappointing. There were a ton of surprises in Will's life and I feel like each and every issue was introduced and given enough page time to be intriguing, not confusing, and leave me with an understanding that this is a series and I want to read more, need to.
Will is introduced as shy and overwhelmed by the Leap, which is understandable and he grows throughout the story. His past is brought to light and he handles things pretty well. He doesn't become a dude in distress but tries his best to assimilate all the new he finds thrust on him. He does an admirable job and has a couple of very "human" moments making him relatable despite the very supernatural elements present.
Axel is an alpha, in a lot of ways. He does a superb job of not steamrolling Will wit those tendencies and shown amazing restraint when reminded that Will is Will and not just a person he can push to the shadows of an alpha in the name of protection and concern.
Together they are a great team and I'm excited to see where all the drama takes them and their kind. Overall, this is an amazing start to the series with low angst, a lot of feels, tons of steam, and not a little sweetness of finally being able to be with one another despite all the craziness going on around and involving them. Reading this was a pleasure and reviewing was voluntary when I got this ARC from the author.
Acceptance is a sexy, sweet M/M romance by Jess Buffett and Tamsin Baker!
Axel knew when he left to serve his country that Will was his mate, however refused to claim him and chance the consequences, so instead he left hanging onto the hope that Will would be there when he returned.
Will’s heart was broken the man he had watch from afar was leaving. Now Axel is home and Will knows he has lost his chance as Axel will be expected to take his place as head of his Leap and there is no room in that life for a human.
When Will finds out Axel has found his mate it won’t be the way everyone expects and Axel will need to move fast if he is to finally claim the man who hold his heart. Secrets will be revealed and not everyone is quite what they seem in this the first book of the Australian Alphas series
Rating: 2.5 stars I felt the events in this book all happened rather quickly and were a bit haphazard. I never really felt connected to this world and the people in it. I liked Will and really felt for what he went through, but even his personality felt a bit all over the place. Axel, I never really connected to and didn't really buy into his character. I never really felt like he made a good alpha to his leap. There was always just a bit of disconnect throughout the story for me to really get into it fully.
This book was borderline okay. I'm not sure at this point, if I would read the next one in the series. I may just to get some answers to the many unanswered questions. This book was so unforgettable though, that I may not remember to look for it in the future.
I would have enjoyed the first few chapters of this book more if I hadn't had the growing certainty that I had read it before, although there were significant differences - type of shifter & name of the second MC in particular. So much so that I began to suspect plagiarism. A simple acknowledgment that the first four chapters, written by Jess Buffett, had appeared in an anthology previously would have saved a lot of angst on my part, not to mention the time spent looking for it that could have been better spent reading the much expanded new version. I have to say, I preferred them as wolves but that's just me. Good start to series though & looking forward to the next installment.
I loved reading acceptance by Ms. Buffett and Ms. Baker! If you love lots of action mixed in with the paranormal with your m/m romance, then you are going to love Acceptance too! The world building, action, and hot love scenes make this book a true keeper. Do not miss the first book in the Australian Alphas series, I plan on reading every book by these authors from now on! This isn't my first book by Jess Buffett. I also read Packmaster by Jess as well. I have to agree with another review I saw where they found it hard to connect to the characters. None of them were someone I truly enjoyed, unfortunately. I liked the start of the book, but it ended up dragging out a bit much for me and I didn't find I was able to become absorbed into it. But again, this is preference, and as it's so clearly obvious, many others loved this book. I just found it wasn't for me.
Enjoyable. I really enjoyed the beginning as it was everything I was feeling for in a book. Once our MC's got together however I lost a bit of my drive to read the book. This book reads as the beginning of their story regardless of the epilogue. I feel the next instalment should address the same couple before moving onto the next Leap.
A great combination of the authors and a great start to a series. Had some interesting plot twists and story flowed well and loved the characters. Read in one sitting as had to know how Axel and Will's story turned out between them, wasn't disappointed. Looking forward to the next one.
Schöner Auftakt einer neuen Reihe. Allerdings finde ich es schade, dass es in jedem Buch zwei, drei markante Sätze gibt, die immer vorkommen. Bei jedem Pairing. Egal wie unterschiedlich sie sind.
I just love all the MM books I can get my hands on and this one didn't disappoint either. Romance and drama are always come hand in hand. What would you do for the one you love and fated to yours forever?
Axel is finally home from enlisting like every alpha before him to take over the Leap. Only he forgot or rather didn't want his intended mate to worry about him. Now he has to make up for lost time and had a lot of explaining to do to make things right with his fated mate. Like why didn't he tell him. Only that's not all seems that some if the leap hates humans and not only do they have to worry about them the hunters are closing in on their Leap. How will Axel protect his mate and Leap at the same time?
