I never meant to start a war. I ran away, and now they want my life. All because my first taste of love was my first betrayal.
But the rules have changed, and I'm done playing fair. I refuse to turn my back on Mateo's darkness when it's always the light that burns me.
I've danced with the devil. Now it's time to become one.
Mateo
I never meant to abandon her. They took my life when I tried to walk away. Leighton's morals never had a chance in my corrupt world.
Now, all I want is to forget her, but they want her soul. I've only had one weakness, one reason for turning my back on everything I've ever known.
I'm coming for what's mine. And God help anyone who gets in my way.
*The Carreras are not good men. They commit crimes to line their pockets and sin to warm their beds. They use foul language, wield weapons like utensils, and every single character's morals are questionable at best. This is a dark romance. There may be triggers, so if you are easily offended, this story may be too much for you.
If you're still here, bienvenidos! The cartel is waiting...
**The Carrera Cartel books are all standalones and can be read out of sequence. However, if you prefer to avoid spoilers, it's highly recommended that you read them in order.
Cora Kenborn is a USA Today Bestselling and Top 50 Amazon Bestselling author whose readers have affectionately dubbed her the “queen of plot twists that’ll ruin your day in the best way.”
Best known for her dark mafia romances, Cora has an insatiable bad boy obsession, which she believes started in the third grade when she chose Bruce over Todd in the Sweet Valley High books. To this day, give her an unhinged antihero who falls hard for a feisty heroine, and you’ve won her heart.
As a native North Carolinian, Cora claims the domestic Southern Belle gene skipped right over her. Her villain origin story was the day she tried making her mother’s famous biscuits and gravy, only to turn them into paste-covered dough bricks. That’s when she decided fiction was better than reality, and microwaved mac and cheese counted as fine dining.
I haven't read the previous book in this series and I followed along fairly easily all though there were still some instances where I was left feeling out of the loop. Despite saying that this can easily be read as a standalone but reading in order definitely makes more sense and would probably make your experience a whole lot richer. I enjoyed this so will be back-tracking and reading book one at a later
I liked this a whole lot. I'm not usually a fan of second chance romances but this had so much going on that it was extremely easy to get sucked right in and invested. This is Leighton and Mateo's story and almost instantly I was unable to put it down it had such an addictive storyline and pulled me right in. Leighton here comes rushing home to her big brother Brady after events have spiralled out control culminating in one epic fuck up. Luckily Big Brother Brody along with the Carrera Cartel is on hand to assist in cleaning up her mess.
Mateo or Matty as Leighton calls him is an important cog in the Cartel. When these two reconnect it’s a big shock to both parties as neither was expecting the other and this is where the story takes off. I really liked Mateo and once he got over his initial spit your dummy out tantrum it wasn't hard to warm up to his over the top protective alpha vibe. He was incredibly understanding of Leighton's actions even without knowing the reasoning behind it and though I did think he was out of order to be so pissed at Leighton for A not waiting for him and B lieing about her identity; well considering the complete lack of honesty on his own part it was a tad hypocritical and somewhat unreasonable.
Despite the above I still liked the fact that once he had gotten over himself he was all about Leighton; totally wearing his heart on his sleeve. Leighton I also liked but she was sometimes a bit dim and seemed to be an expert in creating drama that just wasn't necessary out of sheer pig-headed stubbornness and unnecessary pride. She also was a bit lone-wolf instead of just trusting in Mateos care for her. But I appreciated how eventually she embraced her inner monster accepting it for what it was; that was refreshing. I did really enjoy the dynamic these two shared these. This was a fascinating read that managed to hold my attention throughout.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC copy of "Faded Gray Lines (Carrera Cartel #2)" of which I have reviewed voluntary. All opinions expressed are entirely my own
~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~ Fifteen months ago I read Blurred Red Lines and LOVED it. Ever since then I have been dying to get my hands on book two. So was it worth the wait? Very much so. Did I enjoy it as much as book one? Well, not quite, but it was still a very enjoyable and solid read. The writing was excellent. It was well paced. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. So why not 5-Stars? I am not a huge fan of secrets, or rather, secrets that are stretched out for almost the entirety of the book. In this case it is 65% before we find out a huge one. That alone wouldn't have been an issue except that the heroine goes to tell the hero her secret at least four times (I think) when something interrupts them, and then she tells him to "forget it" or "it wasn't important." I'll be honest, I almost threw my tablet the third and fourth time this happened. I was left feeling annoyed and frustrated, and that lowered my enjoyment of the story some. Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet HAPPY FOR NOW.
~HERO~ MATEO...Mateo was the other reason this didn't quite reach 5-Stars. I liked him a lot, but he was no Val. Which sounds silly to say as he is a totally different character, but I wanted a bit more alpha bada$$. I found him just a bit too bland. I also didn't understand why he was so butthurt when he sees her again. She had NO idea what his real name was or that he was part of a cartel, so how in the world did he expect her to know he was in prison and wait around for him? That said, he was still a very likable hero. He was sweet. He was sexy. He was all about Leighton once he got his head out of his a$$.
~HEROINE~ LEIGHTON...Leighton, I enjoyed quite a lot, well apart from her inability to spit out her secret that is (lol). She was strong. She was feisty. I loved her interactions with Brody. She had a couple TOO STUPID TO LIVE moments, but overall she was a good solid heroine.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~ There were quite a few secondary characters in this one. Some good...some bad. We see a tiny bit of Val and Eden (which I loved). The main secondary character was Brody, Leighton's brother, and the hero set to star in book three. I am super intrigued by Brody so I can't wait to see what this author has up her sleeve for his book.
~HEAT LEVEL~ Low to Medium. I wouldn't say this was overly high on the heat scale, but we do get a few suitably spicy sex scenes. The frequency felt organic to the story.
~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~ Mediumish. This couple had some major communication issues to start with which I found vexing. Logically I know that if the author cleared up all the miscommunications right off the bat, there wouldn't be much of a story left to tell. But as a reader, it is often a bit frustrating when things are drug out that normal people would have discussed the minute they saw each other again. Moving on...neither were virgins. Both had slept with other people in the four years they were apart, and there was no OW or OM drama.
~IN THE END~ I enjoyed this one a lot. Like I said, it was a solidly written and well paced book. The plot was entertaining. There was some heat. Some murder. Some twists and turns. Some revenge. The characters both secondary and main were well developed and intriguing. This one gets a solid two thumbs up from yours truly, and I am looking forward to book three (which I hope doesn't take another fifteen months to release *lol*)
Faded Grey Lines is the 2nd installment of the Carrera Cartel.
How does the saying go? Blood is thicker than water, well let me say that Cora has proven in this book that Blood only makes you related, and loyalty makes you family.
Cora went above and beyond my expectations with this book. Blurred Red Lines was fantastic but this one is just magnificent. This is Mateo and Leighton's story and hell what a story it is.
Leighton lands herself in a mess she didn't see coming, she calls her brother and he tells her what she needs to do to remove herself from this situation. Little did anyone know is that Leighton's life as she knows it will never be the same. From then on she unravels a chain of deception. When arriving at her brother Brody's house, things get a bit more complicated. Never in a million years expecting to see the the one man in life whom had the ability to break her, Matty (Mateo) again. she's shocked and becomes closed off. The two have unresolved issues, but their chemistry is sizzling HOT!!! As the book goes on we watch as all the, lies, deception and revenge unravels. Honestly nothing I say will do this book justice. I'd give it 10 out of 10 if I could. Like I said it's a magnificent read.
Omg! What did I just read! I wish I could give this book a 10+ star review! I have been anxiously awaiting this book to come out. Yes, you can read this as a stand-alone, but some of the characters in this book were in Blurred Red Lines, so you might want to check that out as well as it is also an amazing read. But back to FGL, this book is definitely my top read of 2018, hands down, no doubt! The story of Mateo and Leighton blew me away. The chemistry between these too is “off the roof” Hotness! These characters, as described by this author, just jump off the pages at you and I rooted for them throughout this entire book. To be honest, I was pretty much an emotional mess while reading this and, at times, I wanted to throw my Kindle as I became unequivocally invested in these characters and didn’t want this book to end. There are so many facets to this storyline, that I am hoping another book evolves from this. I will not give any spoilers away, just going to say that everyone needs this book in their life. True writing genius. This author is unreal and I look forward to reading more by her.
***** One of my TOP 10 READS thus far!! ***** Just when I thought I knew what I was getting into with reading Faded Gray Lines, Cora Kenborn tosses my world on it's head and sucks me into the vortex of Mateo and Leighton world!! To say that this was an emotional rollercoaster would be the largest understatement of the century!! Hmmm Where to begin.. I don't think I can say too much without spoiling for others so I will just say that The Carrera Cartel Series is an absolute MUST read and even though FGL can is a complete standalone YOU WILL WANNA grab Val and Eden's story as well!! While reading this story I was bombarded with every single emotion and then some!! I caught myself yelling at the book several times and I'm quite certain some people think I'm a little Loco, but that's alright in my book. When I read a book of this caliber I want everyone to read it so I can talk to them about it and see if they wanted to crawl in and bash heads in as well!!! Ms. Kenborn I bow to your ability to pull at my heartstrings, warming my heart and making me want to kill in the same paragraph!!! KUDOS to ma'am KUDOS.
Faded Gray Lines is bad. I barely can put interest in the story. Miss Kenborn fills the book with cheesy, choppy and immature story line. The characters have no chemisyry at all. Matty is playing a possesive hero but with sexist tendency.
5+++ This is one of those books that had me up until 3:30a.m. because there was no way I could put it down. The Carrera Cartel series is one that will leave you so tied up in the characters that you will have a book hangover like non other. Ms. Kenborn has done an exceptional job in creating people that leave a mark on you.
Be ready for some twists and turns that will leave you crazy, betrayal like no other, love given another chance and the darkness of the underworld. This was an exceptional read that I highly recommend.
"Faded Gray Lines" is the second book of the Carrera Cartel series, and it tells the story of Mateo, Val's most trusted man from "Blurred Red Lines". When I read that book, I saw potential in him because he is not the typical cartel guy. He has a sweet edge to him, and I wanted to know more about his personality and who would he like.
You don't need to have read "Blurred Red Lines" to read this, but there could be spoilers if you haven't read it.
Mateo didn't have it easy, and he arrived to the rank in the cartel he is now because he showed Val his loyalty. But before he got close to the top of the hierarchy, Mateo met the person who could have been the partner of his life; if only the life he chose wouldn't put itself in between. When you are a member of an illegal organization, you can't reveal your true identity to others and the company you pick to warm your bed will be forgotten the next day, but some people you can't forget.
Leighton made a mistake. A big mistake. And because of it, she needs her brother's help and she goes to Houston. But this time it will be hard to save herself. Not only because of what she did, but also because of she is surrounded by beasts who want her head - or her body. She has to choose wisely to make it unscathed from this mess and protect the people she loves.
Mateo and Leighton are that couple that is destined to be separated. He does illegal activities, he is wrapped to the bone in the cartel because his boss will trust him with his life - and this happens once in a life-time. So when Mateo meets Leighton, he knows that he has to leave her alone. She is angelic, demure, innocent - she is everything he is not. Yet, the perfect life she seems to lead isn't truly brilliant like it may seem, and she is eager to run away. But they can't be together, and life at some point reminds them of it and drives them apart, leaving a baggage of secrets trailing behind them. When they meet again, it's evident that love never faded, especially when I believe they were each other's first love. Destiny decided to give them a chance, but they need to come clean about who they are and what they are hiding, or it won't work.
As every Cora Kenborn novel, this one is filled with action and surprises in every chapter. You can't take a breath because it all starts moving from the first chapter and until the end, there is never a static moment in the story. Being this a romantic suspense story, there are good and bad people, but the author messes with your head so you never know who did this or that until their misdeed is revealed, and it's never who you expect. What I like about her books are these moments of shock and surprise where things you believed until then are questioned and you keep asking yourself what will happen and how the hero or the heroine will save himself/herself.
If you've loved Cora Kenborn's other novels, you'll also love this. Compared to "Blurred Red Lines", I think this one is less violent but it doesn't mean a bad thing in my book, because the story is well balanced so you have the right dose of everything, and in the end you'll be satisfied of the outcome.
Next book hopefully is about Brody, and I can't wait to read the story from the side of "justice".
WOW!! BOOK HANGOVER HARDCORE! Absolutely love Mateo and Leighton's story, Mateo is literally the Carolina reaper of men sweet baby jesus have spare underwear handy while reading this story he's a panty melter. Leighton at first I was skeptical ehhh you don't deserve the hotness of Mateo, but alas this author spun this mind numbing, intense, sexy, humorous story that I'm still spinning over, can not wait for Brody's story
OK, so I may be in the minority her and yes, I LOVED the first book but this book on Leighton and Matteo....was very disappointing:(
I just wasn't onboard with their storyline to begin with and Leighton annoyed me!!!!! Matteo, well, I still loved him BUT again, I just couldn't connect or fully invest with other one of them sadly!
Ughhhh, I hate when I love the first book of a series only to be "let down" on the next book but this does happen even with the best. I plan to still go on with this series in the future but this book didn't live up to my expectations unfortunately!
Faded Gray Lines is the second book in the Carrera Cartel Series. It CAN be read as a standalone novel, but seriously, get Blurred Red Lines, it is so worth the read!
I am going to be honest, after Blurred Red Lines, I wasn't truly interested in Mateo's story. I was just hoping to get Brody's story LOL. However, once I begin a series I am invested and will finish to the very end. Man am I glad that I did! This book was explosive! Just as Blurred Red Lines did, this one just starts with a bang. There are so many twists and turns. You think you have it figured out and then Ms. Kenborn throws something else in there that you didn't see coming. Ms. Kenborn is one of my favorite go to romantic suspense authors out there. She is able to weave such a fantastic story, with just the right amount of romance and steamy scenes that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
One of the things that I love about this author is the fact that she can take a popular trope and make it seem new again. This book is set in the cartel world as well as being a second chance story.
Faded Gray Lines brings you the story of Mateo and Leighton. Leighton finds herself in some serious trouble and calls her brother Brody for help. He tells her to get back to Houston as fast as he can and to basically wait and he will help her figure everything out. Brody then contacts Valentin Carrera and Mateo Cortes. Val sends Mateo to Houston to figure out what is going on and to help clean up whatever mess is going on.
The hurt, anger, frustration, secrets, betrayal, not knowing who to trust made this one of my top reads of this year. I couldn't put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen, and who was holding all the cards.
If you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes, scream at your kindle and want to throw it across the room all while having to grab a cold shower because the couple in this book are off the chart hot, Faded Gray lines is the book for you.
Ms. Kenborn is one of the most talented writers I have stumbled upon. Each book of hers that I have read, just gets better and better. The way that she is able to craft a story and the emotions that she is able to get from you for a character is nothing short of amazing. She makes you feel for her characters, makes you yearn for their happily ever after, or for the antagonist to get what is coming from you. I have never cheered so much for a bunch of fictional characters as I did for Leighton and Mateo. I can NOT wait until Book 3 comes out.
I would give this 10 stars if I could. Plot and story were fantastic, flowed extremely well. The character development was on point and I never felt that they were one dimensional. The dialogue was fantastic. Overall, definitely a top read for 2018 and I look forward to many more stories from this author.
Oh god I feel like I just binge watched a series on Netflix! That was an amazingly story-the first I’ve read by this author, and i must admit I was totally and completely engrossed in the story. I can’t remember the last time I lost myself so completely in a world created by an author-but it was just too thrilling of a story to not want to be running right along side the characters. I do believe I guessed the secret correctly when Leighton first started dropping hints- I’d like to say I’ve pretty much seen every episode of every kind of crime drama on cable, pairing that with my love of books and it pretty much gives me a female Sherlock Holmes status. Though I did kind of guess what was going on between the characters, I still let out a huge “whoop whoop” complete with an air first bump knowing that the author created such amazing twists and turns without them being too cliche. LOVED everything about the plot-there’s nothing I would change about the writing. Mateo was a totally loveable character for me. He was so alpha and protective yet he knew he was emotionally scarred from what happened in his past when he put all his eggs in one basket. He didn’t want to get hurt again, but he still always toed the line of what was right, for people he cared about. This author also did an amazing job wth the supporting characters. I’m totally excited to read Brody’s book. My only one complaint I have is that I really wasn’t a fan of the cover! The story is so absolutely amazing and I think the cover is a bit cheesy. It definitely doesn’t take away from the amazing story, and I will most definitely be picking up book 1 and one clicking book 3 when it’s available!!! - By Victoria
Audiobook review. In this story, I felt like I connected a little more with Matteo and Leighton based on their shared past. The plot was all over the place with characters forging on their own agendas. It was interesting to try and figure out the pieces as some were predictable but others caught me off guard. Some of the drama felt like it could’ve been resolved by a good conversation between our main characters but those near misses were as entertaining as they were frustrating.
I liked Leighton because she experienced growth as she walked in the Gray areas of life. She didn’t lose sight of what motivated her actions. Matteo’s loyalty and his own internal conflict also allowed him to elevate as a character and member of the familia.
The writing was solid and the Spanish this time around was significantly better. Aaron Shedlock and Sarah Puckett did a great job on narration. I tend to listen at higher speeds and the sound quality remained on point in tone, pitch, and inflections. I will definitely continue the series.
Complementary copy received and voluntarily reviewed.
After reading the amazing Blurred Red Lines with Val and Eden I was excited to read Mateo's story in Faded Gray Lines. I liked Leighton and Mateo's story and felt like their chemistry and backstory was fiery and compelling!
Leighton and Mateo had an enjoyable story. I loved their connection and the fact that they had such a heated history. I loved how dominant and protective Mateo was. But there were times I was lost amongst all the secrets. I felt like there were so many hidden agendas and secrets that I was lost in the plot at times. My frustration level was also at an all time high at times as I felt that miscommunications and lies could have been cleared up much earlier in the plot.
All in all though, this was great and I look forward to Brody's story. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
I loved this story, old friends and new come together, Mateo and Leighton were perfect together. Mateo...mmm....alpha all the way. I love a good dark romance, but wow what a read!!! Cora Kenborn has done it again. Faded Gray Lines kept me glued to my seat as I embarked on a journey into the Carrera world. Readers have been anticipating Mateo's story and they are in for one epic ride. Great story, great characters, good pacing and just the right mix of angst, comedy, plot twists and suspense to keep it interesting. I am looking forward to the next book in this series as I have greatly enjoyed the first two.
Faded Gray Lines is the second book in a trilogy, however, it can be read as a stand-alone. This is one of those books that you will not want to put down. Mateo and Leighton's story has all the feels. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end.
I will definitely read this story again. Do yourself a favor and get your copy today!
Faded Gray Lines is the second book in the Carrera Cartel series, and it was an intense, explosive addition! Leighton is in over her head, and she's on the run, leading her to Mateo Cortes, a blast from the past.
Both bitter with doubt and unresolved anger, they're full of emotional upheaval while trying to figure out each other's secrets. Who would come out on top? Their battle of wills was explosively steamy and so angst-ridden! Hidden agendas abound in this high-paced joyride!
This was one huge nail-biting story, and the race to the finish line was filled with so many twists and turns. I loved Mateo and Leighton, although I had to keep myself from smacking both of them for their stubbornness at times! And that ending...gah!!! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Do you ever read a book so good that you're not sure you'll be able to write a proper review? Faded Gray Lines was such a phenomenal read that I feel my words may fall short... Kenborn's writing is definitely at its peak, she has a way of drawing you into the story and keeping you there for a long time, her characters seep into your soul and consume your thoughts. I love books that make me feel, and you get that with Faded Gray Lines--all the feels.
I wasn't sure how I would feel about Mateo, him being the underboss to Val. I love an alpha hero and was curious to see how his dominance would play out, Mateo is alpha in every sense of the word. He can bend me over any day. The author did a fantastic job balancing the power of the two men. Mateo is no bitch.
One thing that I love about a Cora Kenborn book is that you know you will get a strong heroine. Leighton is all that, I think I may have feel in love with her too. She was timid and vulnerable, but quick witted and snarky too.
This is the second book in the Carrera Cartel series and can be read as a standalone, but I think you benefit more from reading them in order. This book was plot driven and the character development was insane, I found myself wanting to book a flight. Doesn't every girl want to be a Cartel Queen? If you're looking for a original book, with an original storyline you should definitely grab your copy today! Faded Gray Lines surpassed all my expectations, this is by far my favorite book I've read this year.
Wow! This is the 2nd installment of the Carerra Cartel. They dont need to be read in order to know what's going on, but this author is brilliant diving into the mind of a known mobster. From hurt to pain to punishment, the author does NOT disappoint. Very well written and I loved every second, every twist and turn
Wow I don't even know what to say about this book. This book had me hooked from the first page tell the very end of. This book will have you on edge at all times as it is very dark and intense. This book was very hard to put down. This book I hope will be more to Mateo and stars story as this is a second chance of love. This book will show that trust and true love will have to over come the dark times.
A-MAZ-ING!!! Core does it again in this second installment of the Carrera Cartel series. Cora never ceases to amaze me with her work. Faded Gray Lines surpassed Blurred Red Lines, and I didn't think that was possible. Mateo & Leighton!!! OMG the whirlwind of emotions with these two!!! I couldn't put this book down, as usual with Cora's work. You don't necessarily need to read Blurred Red Lines first, but I'm sure you probably want too. This series is incredible.
I absolutely loved Faded Gray Lines which is the second book of the Carrera Cartel. This book tells Mateo’s story who we meet in the first book Blurred Red Lines and Leighton. When Leighton finds herself in some trouble she calls upon her brother for help. Once her brother advises her to return home, and lays eyes on Mateo, her life will never be the same again. With a past together and hot chemistry what will the future hold for Leighton and Mateo. I highly recommend this book to all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
Well, well, well... after reading Blurred Red Lines earlier this year and being left gasping for more I finally got my “Mateo” fix, and what a fix it was. It’s no secret that Mateo was my man in BRL but I honestly did not think Cora would be able to top that book, I mean c’mon it was Val “fkn” Carrera we’re talking about here, but not only did she top it she smashed it out the ballpark.
Main protagonists Mateo and Leighton shared chemistry that was “off the charts”, but that wasn’t the only thing they shared and FGL is their story of how in amidst a world of Craziness that revolves around the Carrera Cartel and those who may be “friends or foe alike” love prevails all.
This book has it all action, secrets and lies etc, etc with a healthy dash of hotness thrown in to keeps us on our toes. Kenborn manages to drag you right into her storylines with her impeccable writing skills making you feel like you’re right there with the characters, honestly on more that one occasion I was ready to throw down and dazzle folk with my amazing MMA skills but thankfully Mateo had things under control 😉
Read this book, you will not be disappointed . Infact read Blurred Red Lines first then this book they are by far the BEST books of 2018 I’ve read, and now the wait is on for Brody to show us what he’s made off.....
Wow! I’ve just finished Faded Grey Lines, and I feel like been I’ve through a wringer. I haven’t read the first book from this series, it’s not necessary as this story is a standalone, but Valentin has peaked my interest, so I will be reading Blurred Red Lines now.
The many twists and turns leave you guessing who to trust as this plot leads us on a rollercoaster ride of deceit, lies and misunderstanding. The story grabbed me right from the start and on edge, turning the page faster to see what’s next. The intrigue and dark suspense was very addictive and among all this tension it’s a second chance for love, which doesn’t lighten the story at all just adds to it’s intensity. Mateo and Leighton are a fabulous couple, their story is one that doesn’t disappoint, a great read!
I can honestly say this is the best book I've read, this year.I love Mateo and Stars♡Amazing love story.Intense action packed twists.Sorry it ended.Need Brodys book .
Wow, Cora Kenborn has knocked this out of the park. Every time I had to put the book down I cursed because I didn't want to adult, I wanted to keep reading. When this book was announced I was excited because I wanted Mateo's story when I read Blurred Red Lines, the first book in this series. The unexpected twists that were in the book kept me guessing, and I was even wrong with some of my guesses of what was happening. I have to admit that this is one of my top 5 reads of this year!
Mateo and Leighton's story was packed full of sexy hotness, endearing sweetness and the twisted, suspenseful plotlines that readers of the author come to expect. This highly anticipated book two of the Carrera Cartel immediately grabbed my attention and sucked me into their underworld. While this is a stand alone and can be read as such, I do recommend that readers start with book one, Blurred Red Lines, to know more of the other pivotal characters and their roles played.
After reading the first book in this trilogy, I just couldn't wait to read this. The characters and story line are rich and well developed. Loved Mateo and Leighton's story. Lots of twists and turns in this stunning romance.
Faded Gray Lines by Cora Kenborn is page-turning, exciting and absolutely gripping.
Leighton is in the wrong place at the wrong time. She hears things that she should not know. Because of this, there is a body lying motionless on the floor.
Now she is between a rock and a hard place. Embroiled with the DEA and the Carrera Cartel, she must look out for herself and her family.
She seeks the aid of her brother, who tells her to pack her bags and move in with him.
Mateo is a criminal in the Carrera cartel, he is brutal and feels no guilt. That is until he meets his Star. But, Star is not who she said she was and Star is not her real name, it’s Leighton.
With bad blood and secrets between them, will they be able to find their way back to the lovers they once were?
This was an edge of your seat romantic suspense. It is the second book in the series and is told in dual POV.
Faded Gray Lines is an exceptional read and had my complete attention.
Leighton was a daring heroine. She did what needed to get done in order to safeguard both her and her family’s future
Mateo was both obsessed with and repulsed by Leighton. I loved that although he did not trust her, he protected her first and foremost.
This book was exciting and was definitely hard to put down. It you are looking for a suspenseful, action-filled, steamy romance, this is for you!!
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
