I really enjoyed this. It was fun, meta AND the best part if they made the characters more diverse and POC which greatly added to my interest. Can't wait to read this as a graphic novel.
I'm reluctant to review what is only the first issue of a five part series. So far, though, I'd say the creative team behind CLUE have definitely done their homework. Every classic suspect, and Hasbro's newest addition, has been brought into 2017, yet they all retain their basic, stock type charm from their board game origins. The writing is clever, and while the story so far seems to owe a debt to Agatha Christie, I'm excited to see how it all plays out in the coming issues.
Clue #1 is a fun opening to this board game inspired comic, with the serious and comical tones of this murder mystery working well off one another. The creators also give us some wonderful character development for these familiar suspects, with the omniscient narrator, Upton, sure to become a fan favourite.
As someone who's favorite movie is Clue (1985), and grew up forcing babysitters to play the board game endlessly, I was excited to see this comic pop up in my local comic bookshop. It shows a lot of promise, and I'm excited to see where it's headed!
Fun little comic, that shows a lot of promise. The Butler is my favorite... not for the murder, just as a character. I have no idea who the murderer is yet.
