Nova has never been interested in normal relationships. He likes to be roughed up, tied up and teased. So when a strange institute contacts him about a training program which matches submissives to their ideal dom, he doesn't ask any questions. The test which grants him entry to the program will push him to his limits, but Nova is willing to do anything to find his ideal partner.
Director of the program, Aleril Toress has seized the opportunity to pimp the benefits of her methods to a powerful new investor. Never one for words or promises, Aleril knows the only way to hook Draeldin Loreld, and his considerable fortune, is with a demonstration. But Draeldin has his own ideas about Nova's training and he isn't willing to take no for an answer.
With so many strong personalities contending to determine his fate, Nova has no choice but to perform well. But if he does, he risks trapping himself between the ambitions of the program's director and the desires of his potential dom.
This book contains chapters 1-5 of The Slave Makers series (Nova's Initiation, A Problem Employee, A Consummate Professional, The Final Test and In The Master's House), previously published separately.
I didn’t really care for this book very much. I enjoyed some of it,but for the most part I found it sort of boring. I like both mm romance and MF romance, but I don’t like it in the same book. Unfortunately I didn’t see anything about this in the reviews I read or I wouldn’t have read it in the first place. I do have another book in this series, but I doubt that I’ll read it.
Opened up too many questions with seemingly irrelevant details
I liked the characters in this book, and it is very heavily character driven, but I would have liked to have had some small bit of worldbuilding. There seemed to be absolutely no purpose for having references to elves in this book, and if everyone had been human, there would have been no impact on the story. But having said that, was everyone other than Suleroth in this story human? Or were there other elves and it just wasn't called out? What is the difference between a human and an elf in this world? Does this mean that there are potential paranormal elements that can happen in future installments?
The story ramps up the heat fast and never looses steam. I was pulled into following Nova's training and really enjoyed reading a story about an extremely willing sub, and the Dom who wants to claim him. There's plenty of sex, of many flavors, and a well written plot that the steamy bits are expertly folded into. Don't give this one a pass.
Queer thriller with questionable romance. Although the premise is supposedly dark, Nova is delighted with his life all the way through with enthusiastic consent to his circumstances. Starts strong out of the gate but quickly becomes muddled because the conflict should have arisen from Nova’s changing circumstances and instead comes from an ignorable power struggle between two other characters.
This was just utter garbage. We in the world would anyone want to submit themselves to this kind of sexual abuse. Yes, it is all supposed to be consensual, but nevertheless it is assault of a sexual nature.
I downloaded this as part of the “Stuff your Kindle Day” so went in blind and boy oh boy, was it spicy and smutty and intense at times. I love M/M BDSM dynamic and this is that but a different take. I will read the others in the series. I can’t wait to see where the story takes us.
