Walter 'Trigger Finger' Waltzinger sure had a tough reputation to sustain, having a famous gun rep. His upbringing had been equally tough, his mother having died early from the feared yellow Jack fever. His father, while they were alone, taught him how to handle a gun, but not the forthcoming and dangerous ways of it. He had not now seen his father for many a year.
Even his boss was tough. Toby Wild. Self made rancher and owner of the Lazy 'W' Ranch. He had a wayward daughter, Mary Lou Wild, who seemed to have got herself pregnant from the erstwhile wrangler Cozy Kohler. A mess that as Toby Wild's Regulator, Trigger Finger, was deemed to involve himself with.
Then there was the upcoming mysterious disappearance of the trail herd of steers from the Bozeman trail and rumoured to have been purloined by a gang of Mexicans said to have been headed by El Vaquero, and taken south of the border across the Rio Grande into Mexico.
There was so much for Trigger Finger to sort out that events eventually culminated into an even narrower margin between life and death.
