Born in 1960 and raised on an overdose of television, NASA, and science fiction, Ryk Brown has worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. He currently resides in Northern California with his wife, daughter, and cat. By day he fixes computers, and by night he creates stories.
Having spent his entire life "thinking stuff up", the advent of digital publishing has finally given him an excuse to write it all down and share it with others. ("Others" meaning someone other than his poor wife and daughter.)
A long-time fan of all things science and space, his goal is to write and publish an on-going series of sci-fi adventures. To be set in his own version of humanity's future, his characters will explore the vast reaches of the galaxy, and perhaps even the universe. He invites you all to join him on this journey through his vivid imagination.

The cost and worth of knowledge?

As the Klaria virus continues to ravage the Earth, half the population is dead and another quarter are infected. Hanna finally has her dream job in front of the camera but she is reporting on the end of the world! As she searches for the real "story" Hanna undercoves a heinous plan.....

A number of complex plotlines weave through this novel. The characters have defined personalities developed apparently in the previous episode. I enjoyed the writing and the pace of the story is fast and exciting.

As with the first two novellas in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed installment three. These are very entertaining, quick reads. As the story line continues to develop, small layers at a time, the characters also continue to develop. I admired the struggle Hanna displays in regards to life, death and reporting the new world around her. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Captivating

Keeps you interested and wanting to turn the next page.
Used lots of " sci fy" background and tech that makes the reader feel his reality could possibly exist. Weaves story in a well organized fashion.

The third installment of the Netcast shorts still pulls you right back into the tale. Intrigue abounds as reporter Hanna Bohl goes back to the field to bring you all the news of the end of the world as she knows it!

The conclusion will leave you wanting more... As usual!

this episode was just... meh.... basically a bunch of dialogue and discussions, and in my eyes, the "nefarious plot" is about what one would expect of a corporation. Nothing new or interesting.....

Great backstory

I love the backstory and the characters. Some of the technology hints at future story lines. Lots of fun plot twists.

Good read

This book is as good as others Ryk' s books. What is problem with it? It is only one chapter and you need again to buy next chapter and next and next. When you will have all chapters you will need to read it again to get the point.

Part 3 in the Fall of the Core series took a bit of time in coming, after the first 2 books came out in quick succession. However, it was well worth the wait. Hanna and her team are still working for NCN, covering the news for what is left of a shattered Earth, as over half the population is dead and a large extent of the rest is infected with the Bio-Digital Plague. Unknown is still on the loose, and no one has a cure for the disease. Worse still, it has left Earth, hitting other Core worlds.
Hanna and her team have now decided to return to field work, as just reporting from the desk will have little or no continuing impact, and will not get them the actual stories. As a result, they venture out into the field, seeing the state of the world for what it is.
They also start to uncover a new story, involving one of the major star shipping companies that has offered to use their reserve fleet to send colonists far away from the Core worlds, if the un-infected people pay everything they have to get a ticket.
It is fascinating reading this story, tying it into the Frontiers Saga series a 1000yrs later, and how events unfolded, both in the Core worlds, and in the other expanded Colony worlds that the Crew of the Aurora visited in their travels. Whilst it is not necessary to have read the Frontiers Saga to read and enjoy this series, if you have, you get so much extra out of it as with each chapter, there is another connection to the future, such as mentions of the Ark, various families, the colony ships, and all sorts of events that are occurring on Earth and the Core worlds.
It is a brilliant concept to write such an incredible series such as Frontiers, and then write another series that is just as impressive, but set a 1000yrs before, but from the eyes of those that lived it, like an historical record. You not only get the history of the events, so you can relate it to what you understand from those in the future, but you also get a living account of what occurred so you can make your own judgements, and then compare those against what is said in the future. And the accounts of Hanna and her team, as well as those that are feeding her the stories, are utterly enthralling and gripping, you find that once you pick one of these up, you don’t stop until you have finished it.
These will be something that I read short by short, but when the series has all come out, I will sit down and read the collection end to end again as they are just so good.
Whether you are new to Frontiers, or a long-time fan, you cannot miss this series, it is pure genius.

Given the quality of these short stories so far, this one felt a little bit like a filler. It spends half of the time re-iterating what we already knew, though, in a more dramatic, graphic, way, though it does end up exposing some new interesting plot-points. It ends on a cliffhanger, and the last of these short stories could get very interesting...
