Everyone in Nashville knows Nathan Dumont. That’s what happens when you develop half a town and sleep with the rest.
Five years ago, his fiancee disappeared.
Last night, he proposed to me.

I had wanted to escape my life, the seedy strip club and the mountain of bills. I had seized the opportunity to live in a mansion, fill my days with country clubs and caviar, my nights with romance and sex.

Maybe I should have done my homework first.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Trophy Wife (stand-alone). How Candice became the contracted Trophy wife of aloof sex-on-a-stick Nathan Dumont!

“I will not love you. I will have no use for you other than sex and photo ops.”

Trophy Wife (stand-alone) opens up to another day in aspiring event planner Candace Deanna Tapers, Candy’s life. She has fallen just about as low as she can; in debt, estranged from her family and working as a stripper.

When Real estate developer, playboy and heir to a shipping empire Nathan Bane Dumont and his security entourage arrives at the Sammy’s Gentleman’s Club he commands the VIP treatment and the exclusive services of Candice.

Nathan soon makes Candice a proposition she cannot refuse; become his wife on paper and in the bedroom. There is a contract, schedule, demands and rules. But why would a man with Nathan’s good looks, wealth and success need a trophy wife?

“Lust is a dangerous thing. It can seduce your mind and lead it blindfolded to the cliff that will be its demise. Nathan takes me to that cliff, my body bending and molding beneath his, my heart coming up for air in between soft caresses with his mouth while his cock hammers out a slick, rapid motion.”

Seven words to describe Nathan Bane Dumont: Aloof, ruthless, enigmatic, rude, mysterious, captivating and elusive.

Seven words to describe Candace Deanna Tapers, Candy: Despondent, desperate, reflective, endearing, proud, lost and flawed.

Trophy Wife, told from dual’s POV, is the re-written Dumont Diaries series with epilogue, prologue and added scenes. Effortlessly told the mysterious and edgy plot captivated me and pushed boundaries.

Just like the first-time around to-die-for, enigmatic and jaded Nathan gave me butterflies-in-my-belly. Sex with him is off-the-charts kinky; cold, detached and often with an audience. Nathan and Candace has etched themselves into my heart and I love where this extended story took them.

“Nathan's temper rages, and he forces out the next question through clenched teeth. “Have. You. Touched. Her?”
“Yes.” The response is a challenge…”

***semi-spoiler-y regarding overall content, not actual plot points***

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, actually.

It had stuff in it that would normally either make me think twice about reading something or make me squirm while doing so...

To explain: while cheating or ow/om drama has always been a case by case basis thing for me - and not a black/white hard limit, as far as reading limits go - gratuitous cheating and/or love triangles have always been more of a no-go zone for me.

description

That said, I find myself being not as...repelled, I suppose, when characters brush up against - or even completely submerge themselves in - this gray area these days, so long as it works for me within the context of the story.

I think my reading taste buds are in one of those transitional periods, which is exciting to me as this will be opening me up to a lot of books I might have been hesitant to pick up before.

description

Disclaimer: this is not meant to be a "break out your comfort zone" call to arms or anything.
Hard limits are hard limits.
And reading something that makes you nauseous is fun for no one.

description

So I'm not trying to suggest anything here. I'm simply saying my own personal limits have changed on their own as of late, which as all of us readers know, happens from time to time.

But anycray.

I really enjoyed the main story and the side of angst this book provided. The connection between Candace and Nathan was electric and I really enjoyed that Candace was regular girl caught up in life's circumstances.

Such a weird book.

**********Spoilers, probably**********

The book started off great and the writing was good but the events were kind of weird and the characters were shitty.

The heroine was unrelatable, she didn't seem like a heroine at all. It felt like she was the ‘other woman’. The hero was a Dick, who didn't feel like a male lead at all. He was too underdeveloped in my opinion.

I was actually rooting for the other one, the one who turned out to be nobody. What is his role in this story, anyway? To show the heroine’s, ahem, carefree behavior? Or maybe the author didn’t know where the story would go and she decided to get rid of him after the second installment.

I was rooting for the hero and his ex-fiancé.
I was also rooting for the heroine and the other man.
I was waiting for some major twist. Nada.
Everything felt wrong and weird.

Anyhow, I can’t believe I’m giving this book 3 stars after that epically fucked-up quote about cheating and after so many other issues.

I just can’t give it a lower rating. Why? Beats me.
Maybe because the writing is too good. Or maybe the story is too engaging.
I just feel it wouldn't be fair.

What a shame though. The potential was enormous. This author is capable of writing a ten-star book.

"He is a living, breathing man who has the capacity to love, who looks at me and sees something more than a contract."
description

Trophy Wife is a smoking hot read with a business man, a stripper, and a contract. With a blend of intrigue, passion, and money, Nathan Dumont is one hero who is sure to please any romance reading fan!

description
"In the moments before his breathing deepens, his hold on me relaxing, it is perfection. Forbidden. Impossible. Perfection."
Candy is a stripper. She has a college degree and yet has been forced to work the pole for money. From the beginning of the read it is easy to assess that Candy is a good girl. She has simply chosen a job in order to provide for herself and help her ailing dad. When Nathan Dumont visits Candy in the strip club, one blow job turns into a series of events that will change her life forever. What happens when a broke stripper gets the opportunity of a lifetime?

description
"He is unraveling, the world that he knows slowly coming apart at a time when it should be coming together."
Nathan Dumont is looking for more than just a blowjob from Candy. He wants a wife. All she has to do is sign her name on the dotted line. She accepts a marriage of convenience, a marriage with hot sex, a beautiful wardrobe, and a beautiful house. However, it is a marriage without love and companionship. Nathan is cold and calculated. He has orchestrated a beautiful facade for him and Candy to live in. And yet, the sex between these two is beyond fulfilling. As the story begins to unravel, Nathan is shaken by the ghosts of his past and the possibility of his future.

description
"Ecstasy. My body breaks into a thousand splinters of pleasure, a series of gasps spilling out, my back arching and pushing against his hard pelvis, our bodies joined as I am torn apart in a sea of desire."
Told in dual POV, Trophy Wife is a compilation of Alessandra Torre's previous work The Dumont Diaries. This updated version includes Nathan's POV and a fresh ending to fulfill all of the questions that were left unanswered in the previous work. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this read. I was a Nathan and Candy fan before but with the additional dialogue, additional moments of bliss, and the beautiful epilogue, I found myself overjoyed with this read. As the connection between Nathan and Candace transforms from physical to emotional and every piece of the plot is revealed I simply could not tear my eyes away.

description

Overall, Trophy Wife is a perfect blend of romance, passion, and intrigue that will certainly get your blood pumping and make your heart swoon. I loved The Dumont Diaries but this updated read literally blew me away. I have always been a fan of Ms. Torre's work and Nathan and Candace are positively one of her hottest couples to date!

I read The Dumont Diaries and loved, I read Trophy Wife and I absolutely adored!!! What was a sexy, intense read the first time around became an even more sexy, even more intense read with the added POV of Nathan Dumont. Trophy Wife was told in dual POV's, allowing the reader to get into the mind of both Candace Tapers and Nathan Dumont.

Sexy - check
Erotic - check
Intrigue - check
Angst - check
Suspense - check
Love - check

A stripper, a millionaire, a missing fiancé, and a body guard. This story weaves such an intricate pattern of suspense mixed with erotic moments that you will not be able to put the book down.

Candace "Candy" Tapers- a college graduate, had a good life until debt and no work experience lead her to desperation to pay the bills. Her salvation was a dark haired stranger who would come in and request her and pay handsomely. Nathan Dumont is a ruthless, arrogant bastard. He's very rich and gets what he wants. He needs is a wife and Candy fits the bill. Someone to be on his arm, play the part. There is no romance only sex and photo ops. He has a contract and it's up to Candy if she wants to accept her new life or go back to her old life, a life that holds nothing to go back too. Agreeing to being Mrs. Dumont has one big benefit, she would be able to care for her father. And then there is Drew, Nathan's body guard, who is suppose to keep Candy in line and who is always around. Wealth, Clothes, Jewels, Never Needing to Worry About Anything, Care for her Dad and an Arrogant Asshole.......It's not like a Trophy Wife can have it all.

The sex in this book is hot the charts. It is raw, intimate and very explosive. There is a gritty edge that crackles with an electric current of desire, lust and cruelty. There are specific dynamics between Nathan and Candy, Candy and Drew, Nathan and Drew and Nathan and Cecile. But as the story unfolds, there is the exchange of power between all the characters that adds an emotional vulnerability to the story, all due to twists and turns being manipulated by certain characters. But does the end result come with all the satisfying results?

I loved this story, I loved the characters, I loved the ending......I loved it all!! Sex, Lust, Greed, Manipulation.......a Trophy Wife must be ready for all.

This was... weird.

Imagine:

There were certain scenes in here that was diabolical and wasn't necessary. But Im giving an extra star for the hotness and great execution. I have a feeling that if this fucked up story had been written by a different author, I would have given 0..

I mean yeah, if you can handle the spoilery parts then go ahead read it. Its quite hot and scorching and the narrative flows, but if not- steer clear.

In true erotic Alessandra Torre style, Trophy Wife pushes boundaries with a highly erotic story arc that’s unique, gripping, and edgy, whilst simultaneously making me feel so much for the characters at the heart of this intriguing story. They seamlessly drew me in with their charismatic inner thoughts in an utterly compelling narrative that toggles between the perspective of the male and female protagonist revealing the layers of a story that's laced with intrigue, eroticism and passion. The author's tight narrative makes it a fluid read, one where I became easily invested in the happenings, and connected to the characters, allowing me to be whisked away to the world of Candy and Nathan.

Candace Tapers works as a stripper and catches the eye of Nathan Dumont, a very successful man who's sexy, ruthless, cold, and controlling. An alpha male who's also very, very wealthy, needs a wife and believes Candy would be the perfect option. Of course, there are many more pieces to this story, pieces of a puzzle that are slowly exposed and then all fit together in the most perfect and satisfying manner providing a totally addictive story that's intense and powerful and needs to be experienced with limited knowledge of the plot enabling the reader to discover the intrigue, eroticism and emotion of the narrative as each layer is peeled away and the plot develops.

Trophy Wife offers brilliant provocative story telling with flawless writing and beautiful subtlety that shows so much within the prose. A prose where Alessandra Torre turns up the scorch factor a million percent. Nathan and Candy have an undeniable intense attraction, their chemistry is scorching and they waste no time in showing the reader the erotic nature of this story which is seriously off the scale.

I read Trophy Wife back in early 2014 when it was in its original format and called The Dumont Diaries. I loved it then and adore this shiny remastered version that includes new scenes, a stronger heroine and Nathan’s much desired perspective. Trophy Wife has benefited from the wealth of experience Torre has gained honing her craft to perfection whilst penning numerous novels in the years that have passed since first creating this dynamic and romantic story. One of her most erotic novels, Trophy Wife has the Alessandra Torre unique penmanship and style laced into the writing canvas producing an intriguing erotic romance that takes the reader on a compelling journey of twists and turns, whilst making the reader feel so very much and root for the happy ever after of the protagonists. A scorching STANDALONE story that will be enjoyed by romance lovers who like their stories laced with passion and sex whilst maintaining a creative story arc that engages the mind.

This book is a combination and addition of the previous books to the Dumont Series. I was torn with the Dumont Series before so I have to say, this addition with dual POV and added chapters and Epilogue's made it so much better for me. I read this just last September but reading this again was like reading a new book. I had forgot a lot of what happened and why it happened.

Nathan Dumont. This man. Gawwwwd this man. I can not give anything away in this book if you have not read it but this man literally has my head spinning. First of all he's simply gorgeous and second he's an asshole. Plain and simple. A redeemable asshole but still.

Candace. You wounded soul. I love you and I dislike you. You are amazing at putting your family first. What you wouldn't do to make sure they are taken care of. I can't imagine what I'd do if I was presented your options in your situation. It's hard to judge you for your mistakes (Drew) but I fell in love with your strength and your commitment to yourself and your father. You deserve every bit of happiness and I am so glad this book gave you that.

This was one DIRTY, HOT read! And I loved it!!

Mr. Nathan Dumont is one alpha-hole that I could not get enough of. I love AT and with the exception of one other book (and there's no reason why other than the never ending TBR), I've read all of her books - each of them great in their own way. This book reminded me why I love this author so much.

I simply LOVED this one. I couldn't put it down and when I had to, I was jonesing 'till I could get back to it.

I'm a HUGE Brad fan, but dare I say, Nathan gave him a run for the money in the 'tossing my panties' department.

This is a MUST read!!

ZERO STARS- BIG, FAT ZERO.
This review has been long overdue...I kept trying to delay writing one because I couldn't find enough words in the English language to express my absolute disgust at this utter piece of garbage that has been marketed as romance when there is absolutely nothing even remotely romantic about this crap.

Yeah there are gonna be SPOILERS AHEAD but I urge everyone to read this because you honestly can't make informed choice about buying this. Before wasting your money on this disgusting mess, you have to be aware of how utterly fucked up this book is.

I never in my life skim read so much. It basically had pretty much all my triggers-

--a absolutely, utterly disgusting, douche bag male lead
--H treats h like utter shit, total emotional abuse
--H has no absolutely no respect for h. So much disrespect that he refuses to have sex with her in a bedroom. He fucks her anywhere in the house so his staff can see because she doesn't deserve to be treated nicely, she doesn't deserve any privacy
--H is using h for his own benefits without any remorse
--h is a total pathetic doormat
--Forced oral sex: I have come across a lot utter disgusting asshole heroes but even the worst of them never forced his wife wife to give his friend a blowjob. What kind of husband does that??? That's rape. Its unforgivable.
--H in love with OW throughout the whole book. Only in the last 1% he has realises he loves heroine.
--He quickly dumps h for OW and spends the whole separation fucking OW while h is all celibate of course.
--she takes him back just like that no freaking grovel, no freaking character development, no redemption ARC, no begging for forgiveness!
--Oh and it also has cheating. h has an affair with OM while married to/together with H. But honestly that's the best decision she ever made!! Yes, this is coming from the person who abhors adultery. Why she ever chose H over OM is beyond my level of comprehension.

At least she wasn't a virgin/celibate nun! She was actually quite sexually experienced.

Nathan: Blue eyes, dark hair, arrogant, powerful, cold-hearted, DEFAULT good looking and super-rich leading male

Candace, Brown hair (dyed blonde before), brown eyes, confident yet naive, kind-hearted woman who’s trying to find her place in this world.

Both described really gorgeous

As always I like the heroine more than the hero. I think I always like the females more in hetero romances, (Not objective maybe, sorry) But in here, Nathan was really hard to like, especially in the beginning, but I guess I started liking him at some point? He’s definitely a man I can’t understand how I can be attracted to but I am - type of guy. Am I tho?
I have mixed feelings about him, therefore I have mixed feelings about this book.

PROS:

*I guess I will like whatever Miss Torre offers. She captives me every time and this story makes no exception.

*The story has an arranged marriage plot, and I am always into it, I don’t think I can have enough of this genre.

*The angst was great, the DRAMAA element was on point. This book wrenched my heart from time to time. (And yeah I like the heartwrenching)

*Sex scenes are great. I always like Miss Torre’s steamy scenes.

BUTS:

*The plot isn’t perfect, there is insufficient info, the ex-drama is a BIG MEH (also hated that woman), the twist and how it is solved is questionable… Let’s say If you read your romance novels without too many expectations, mainly focusing on characters and the couple; it won’t bother you that much as well. But If I was looking for serious logic, that wouldn’t work here.

*There’s this one particular sex scene, includes one another. I am surely not comfortable with it (one of the most unacceptable Nathan's doings) thinking of why and how it happened. (It can very well be counted as rape). It’s totally unforgivable and unacceptable. But I'm not talking about this sexual act, itself. If all sides are into it, why not?

FOOTNOTES:

* There is this drama that I actually like in general, one-side being super unfair to the other, gets redeem himself/herself in the end. And I actually like this thing when this blameful person is able to redeem. SO, the question is; did Nathan redeem himself?
Especially in the beginning, there were times that I called him AWFUL, he treated Candace so badly, he degraded/humiliated her in so many ways. (Well, some might say he only could treat her that way because she basically let her ... but just because a person has a weakness over someone does it mean they have a right to do whatever?)
In the end, he explains his reasons. He definitely becomes a better man (Rather than excuses, I actually care about his behaviors and I can say he finally gets his act back together towards her, btw only almost in the end). But still, soo? All is forgotten and forgiven now?

On the other hand, even though I believe that he is someone who can NEVER be forgiven in real life, in this story, as a softie I ACTUALLY wanted them to have a happy ending. After all, such a man can only MAGICALLY turn into a really good man in a FANTASY.

OVERALL:

I enjoyed this book, I only mainly have issues with Nathan and his behaviors (but shame on me, and the power is on Torre that apparently I am giving him a second chance.) It was an easy and fast read. And It definitely offers good sex.

Trophy Wife is a re-edited, re-titled, re-published 2017 version of Alessandra Torre's 2013 serial collection: Mrs. Dumont. I own the 2013 version but never read it. When I found out it was getting a revamp, I thought I would wait and read the 2017 version. In summary, I can't compare the two.

Based on my personal reading experience, Trophy Wife was mysterious, sexy, a little annoying, sexy, manipulative, confusing, and did I say sexy? Mr. and Mrs. Dumont were going at it like rabbits. But a specific storyline accompanied all this sex which I very much appreciated. That was the mystery part. Mrs. Dumont is being kept out of the loop on some things and so is the reader which created some intrigue and kept me engaged. However, there is a lust-triangle of sorts with a major side character that just kind of drops off the page...along with the character. I'm not sure what the point was of either in retrospect. Additionally, the fear-induced mystery buildup kind of fell short for me after all was said and done. These combined elements (along with a very fickle hero) created some confusion and a disjointed feeling to the book overall for me. But back to sexy. This book was very. If you're a fan of the Torre goddess, consider checking it out.

My favorite quote:
"It’s amazing how similar a wine charity luncheon can be to stripping. In both, I fake interest, laughing at bad jokes, smiling at conversations I couldn’t care less about. In both, I give compliments I don’t mean, and fake emotions I don’t feel. In both, I’m judged, though it’s funny—in stripping, I was judged for my body. Here, I am judged because of it. Not that they are that obvious. Oh no, they act sweet, but I see the daggers in their glances, the fangs in their smiles. At least in stripping, the assholes are upfront about it."

3.5* overrated fairy-tale STARS!

Review @ Midnight Romance

Previously as The Dumont Diaries series/Mrs. Dumont, I'm intrigued to read this. From a desperate stripper became trophy wife for successful businessman. How bad can it be? Candace Tapers aka Candy works her ass off as a stripper for her sick father. She was once a princess but fell hard with no money left. Then this strange rich man, Mr. Dumont along with his bodyguard came with proportion. Marriage. It's for pleasure only; no romance. But Candy still has her smart brain to figure out what's wrong with her future husband.

description
Lust is a dangerous thing. It can seduce your mind and lead it blindfolded to the cliff that will be its demise.

I liked Candy and her struggle felt so real. With her amazing body, she became stripper. But one her sacred rule is no sex with clients. This maybe your kind of Cinderella story but believe me, it is not. Candy isn't a damsel in distress. She's just need the money and of course, the sex.

description

Nathan is one of my issues. I know he act like a first class bastard to Candy. He used their marriage like a business. Wife as an employee. He never shown his emotions towards Candy except for anger and unreasonable jealousy. No matter how handsome he is, I kinda hated him. But their sex was O.M.G! Such a beast with dirty mouth. Me likey!

description

The story told mostly from Candy's POV but sometimes there's Nathan. At first I couldn't understand Nathan's motive with the marriage. When Nathan's gone (for business), Candy crave for attention and affection. She felt useless to doing nothing a whole day. She played a dangerous game with the bodyguard, Drew. I think their chemistry felt real than with Nathan. But in the end, Nathan told Candy everything and she couldn't agree more.

Nathan changed like a different person. He's no longer cold and distant bastard. The real Nathan is more lively and fun. Candy wasted her last days to be with Nathan as a loving wife instead she's already fall in love with him. This one earned bonus point for me when Nathan show he can 'redeem' himself. However, Candy's easily forgivable with Nathan and welcome him without struggle.
He is a drug that I have no way of resisting, bad for my soul, but so heartbreakingly perfect in its deliverance.

Ms. Torre always succeed to captive me with her writing also the characters. There's always up and down with them. Nathan was too blind with past and never realize the reality. I have hate-love relationship with Nathan. Also how easily forgettable Drew's character. Like he's just an accessory. Anyway, the story has slow paced at first but engaging towards the end. Overall, a great read but ended up in rush with anticlimactic solution. Hmph. But once again, the sex was soo great, distracting and forgivable.

Candy has made some poor choices that land her in Sammy’s a strip club where her happily ever after gets further and further away with every twirl on the pole. Until he walks in. Gorgeous, demanding and wealthy. A far cry from the normal clientele that walk through the doors of the seedy club. But what does a girl do when she’s near rock bottom and a man offers you the deal of a life time? You say I do.

The Dumont Diaries was the first book I had read by Alessandra Torre, so this story, these characters, well they hold a special place in my heart. When I learned that we’d get to revisit Nathan and Candace with an updated story – I was torn. I loved the first book/serial – I know that with time the author has improved her craft, but these characters – I didn’t want their story changed. Alessandra Torre did this story and these characters justice. The slight changes – I was a convert. The scenes were a bit more vivid, the element of suspense was turned up and I loved the way Nathan’s POV was told.

Having read the story a few times before, I was shocked to discover that during the reading of Trophy Wife that everything felt new. Even knowing EVERYTHING, I found myself anticipating what was going to happen next.

Nathan is a jerk. No doubt about it. But once you get all the pieces you figure out why – that’s not saying that everything is forgiven. But I think Candace does give as good as she gets, so I can’t really hold a grudge – plus his whole demeanor is one of my favorite types of Heroes.

The sexy times in this – off the charts. From the first scene to the very last – I loved the rough way he took her – wherever, whenever he wanted. Trophy wife is an erotic romance with a touch of suspense and will definitely cause your kindle to heat up. A must read for fans who love their romances to have a bit of an edge and for those who already met Nathan – he is worth the re-read!

2 1/2"Twisted but intriguing" Stars!

I think I'm going to chalk this one up as "not for me". I really don't understand why any one would fall in love with any of these characters. However, I was intrigued despite myself. AT is a good writer. So three stars for the writing and keeping me interested despite not really liking the characters. Any of the characters. Plus, it was quite anticlimactic, IMO. Happy reading :-/

Later the same day...

After thinking about this a little bit more, I'm making this one 2 stars. I probably should have quit this one early on... There was nothing romantic about it for me.

Like I said, not for me. I should have DNFed around the halfway point and not rated this book.

I wasn’t involved. And too many inconsistencies.
The beginning was very promising.
Heroine is a stripper and some, because she offers some of her clients other services as tea coffee and pastries, if you know what I mean.
No, she hasn’t a sob story, as a lil niece to take care of because her sis died in an accident or a lil bro with palsy or some mob boss who wants her dead.
She chose to be a stripper because it pays better, stop.
Her father is sick but she can’t provide for him anyway.
Enter the hero, who is after something, but we don’t know what.
After some bj and hot kinky sex he proposes a MOC.
The heroine accepts because it would pay her father’s care.
And that is where I was like meh.
She doesn’t even add some clauses as for example, during our marriage the husband won’t hurt the wife physically or else.
You saw the man only twice, how do you know he’s not Hannibal Lechter’s evil brother?
How do you know you won’t wake up one day without one kidney or both? Or without your liver?
The heroine shows all her lack of IQ here. And sign. Without asking guarantees.
To a big bad guy who told you only two things: suck my c*** and now I’m gonna f**k you. In front of his bodyguard. Are you serious???
The hero is mean and tough and we all hope he’s at least a mob boss involved with mafia and yakuza and Columbia’s drug lords, so the attention is on.
Then the book make a nosedive and I soon lost all interest.
Too much sex.
Too much promiscuity.
The hero is no evil mob boss who kills people before breakfast. Nope.
He’s a wimp and a loser.
He needs the heroine because she has the same birth date and name of his dead sister and he wants his late sister’s money back.
A lot of money.
And he needs the heroine because he hopes that his fiancée, the love of his life, comes back to him.
The fiancée he proposed four years before and who dumped him without even telling him goodbye and then disappeared like smoke in the wind.
He is still stuck with a bitch who jilted him and didn’t even had the guts to tell him.
Really???
How loser is he?
Ah of course when his ex comes back from the dead the heroine will be kicked out of his house with a thank you and a handshake.
The louse.
Then suddenly the mean bad hero turns into a real hero, all charm and nicety and we are wondering if he had a good twin hidden in the cupboard.
No, it’s him, and of course the heroine falls in love with him even knowing what a loser he is and also stingy since he did not want to give her money for service rendered.
Evil ow is back and heroine is out of the scene.
Some banging with ow and the hero realizes he loves the heroine and ow is a troll.
Hea where they won’t have sex on front of stranger and the hero won’t ask her to give bj to his clients.
Really?
So, my opinion.
If you write a book with kinky and twisted sex, which involves multiple partner sex, voyeurism, and other, you don’t change the tune in the end, because this results in making the kinky sex an abuse, something that was only suffered and not enjoyed by both.
And if the hero is an a****le for half the book with no reason he can’t wake up one day and suddenly be a nice and charming guy - with no reason, again.
And the sex.
Too much, too promiscuous, too liberal.
Not my kind of romance.

🌟🌟🌟

WARNING: This book causes hand spasms. Don’t read unless you like struggling against the urge to slap people. Preferably the heroine.

For a woman with a college degree, she was a flat out idiot.

Safety: They were both experienced. He had a former fiancé that ran off and hid and he screwed her when she came back even though he was still married to Candace.

Candace gave blow jobs at the club and she had casual relationships because being a stripper made it hard to date. While she was married to Nathan and he was being an asshole, she had an affair with Drew, his bodyguard/Cecil’s brother. Many reviewers got mad about that. I didn’t. I felt it was about time she did something for herself instead of that prick. I just wish Drew had been a better man.

Overall, this book was frustrating. I felt it could have been better if Candace had more backbone and Nathan was made to heel at the end. But that’s just me.

Original review: The Daydreaming Bookworm

*4.5 Stars!*

The Dumont Diaries was originally a set of serials written by Alessandra Torre a few years ago that has now been revamped and re-released as a standalone novel titled the Trophy Wife. While I did not read the serial prior to reading this new standalone, Alessandra has stated that she has added more chapters to this story and even a male POV so it may be worth your while to read Trophy Wife even if you had read the serial before. Okay, but on a real note, whether or not you read the serial before, Trophy Wife is definitely worth picking up!

Living from paycheck to paycheck, Candance Tapers is struggling to make ends meet. With maxed out credit cards and student loans to pay off, she knows that she will have to make drastic changes if she wants to keep her head above water. Those changes happen when she meets Nathan Dumont, a wealthy businessman with an unusual proposal: for Candance to agree to marry him and become his wife in exchange for a life of luxury. Sounds simple, right?

Trophy Wife is a sexy, dirty and thrilling erotica romance about a stripper, a devilish stranger and a proposition that will change both their lives. Candance’s story consumed me from the very first page and I could not tear myself away from my eReader. This book had everything I could have asked for in an erotic romance and Alessandra’s writing is truly captivating! From the suspense, to scandalous moments of passion, to the lies and deceit, Trophy Wife kept me on my toes and had me second-guessing every possible twist I could think of. Fair warning, this romance is a little on the darker side, with kinks (like voyeurism sex and domination) that may not be everyone’s cup of tea, so keep that in mind while reading. But really, this wouldn’t be an Alessandra Torre romance without the kinks and it’s something that I’ve actually grown to like when it comes to her romances.

Candance is a girl after my own heart. I have a soft spot for romances involving strippers and Trophy Wife is no different. Although this arrangement may not be ideal, she knows that it will not only help better her current financial situation, but it will also help her ailing father. The incredible thing is that despite everything she’s been through, she still believes that she has a chance at a happily-ever-after and that’s what I loved most about her character. Her determination, her passion, her selflessness, Candance is truly a believer. With this new standalone, we get to see Nathan’s POV and I felt like that really added to the story and we’re able to get a better understanding of why he behaves the way he does. I can’t completely fault him for his actions and how he treated Candance, but that doesn’t mean he still didn’t piss me off. While Nathan’s proposal strictly stated no romance, there is no denying the chemistry between these two. It’s off the charts and I just wanted these two to end up together!

Trophy Wife is probably my favorite Alessandra Torre book to date and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Intoxicating, erotic, sensual and just downright dirty, this re-release has everything a dark romance reader is looking for and if this sounds like something you would enjoy, kinks and all, I highly recommend checking this book out!

I read Alessandra Torre's Dumont Diaries so long ago, it was easy to go into Trophy Wife not knowing what to expect. While I recalled the original storyline well enough, the finer details were blurry. Whether or not you're familiar with Nathan and Candace and the provocative chronicle of their marriage of convenience, you're in for an unexpected experience full of twists and turns. You'll be lost, as I was, in the mystery of these circumstances, in the sizzling sex, in the raw emotion and the brutal deceit that winds and twists from these pages. While I certainly enjoyed the original version, Alessandra Torre brilliantly polished an addictive set of novellas into this flawless, intoxicating erotic romance and I DEVOURED it.

With each turn of the page, I was both reminded of long forgotten details and riveted by an all new story. A business proposition finds a struggling stripper ensnared in a web of seduction and secrets by a ruthless businessman she can't refuse. Candace Tapers signs her life away, committing herself to an existence as a wife in name only to a husband who won't love her. With dark carnality and compelling mystery, Trophy Wife is a twisted, sensual story heart-wrenching to read at times, but impossible to look away from. As the story evolves, secrets unfold, burning attraction rages, and the rules of the game change again and again.

Trophy Wife is a game where neither the heroine nor the reader know the rules. We know we're getting played, both pawns in a strategic game where the rules change as we go. We're taken along through this disorienting labyrinth of sex, lies and mystery and, while it feels like there's no way to win, we're granted glimpses of hope and possibility that keep us invested, keep us often rooting for our opponent. It's addictive, this pain, but there's nothing more delicious, more desirous, than the unattainable. And the need to see Nathan Dumont beaten at his own game will keep you glued.

Dripping with sex and intrigue, Trophy Wife took me on an unpredictably steamy ride of intolerable cruelty and lush romance. This is pure, unadulterated erotica woven seamlessly into a complex storyline where two broken characters use each other for the one thing they each need. The physical nature of the relationship in this story is an entity in itself, driving the plot, altering the game, molding this dynamic into something it was never meant to be. And it's both beautifully done and explosively hot. Alessandra Torre is a master storyteller, a brilliant illustrator of scintillating mind games and unparalleled eroticism. This intoxicating journey through pleasure and pain is a sensual treat for the senses, a brutal test of the heart and remains a top favorite from this author.

This review might contain some spoilers, don’t read this review if you plan on reading the book.

There are quite a handful of things on my ‘things I am ashamed of’ list, liking the better half of this book apparently being on top of said list.

When I tell you this book had potential, people, it had potential. The writing was good, the premise sounded promising, but it was so poorly executed and some chapters ended and started so abruptly with no disclosure or preamble, I had to double check to make sure I’d not missed any chapters.

Candace, a desolate college graduate, works as a stripper at Sammy’s (a seedy strip club), trudging through life, when her salvation -Nathan along with his bodyguard, Drew- walks into her pit of misery, demanding her services. One event leads to another and after spending a fervent night in Nathan’s bed, he offers her a business proposition to marry him, a business proposition that could pull her out of her misery, give her financial security and cover her father’s medical bills. Seeing this as a lifetime opportunity she greedily latches onto the offer, but of course Nathan has his own not-so-kind motives for proposing this marriage, one being to transfer a hefty amount of money from his dead sister’s account to his bank account and only Candace can help him do that because her sister and she share the same name and date of birth (um, okay?) and second because he can’t stop mourning his fugitive ex (Cecile) and he plans to lure her out of her hiding, who upon seeing Nathan and Candy together in the news would be so jealous that she’d come running back to him. Nathan, sweetie, have you considered that maybe the problem isn’t her, the problem is you?

Anyhow, a contract is drawn, a marriage-in-name-only agreed upon, and lots of insanity drama set into motion.

”I need a wife. I am not signing up for romance, or affection, or a full time job.”

Nathan makes it abundantly clear that he could only offer her a life of opulence and not to expect any romance or affection from him, because his heart belongs to his ex *gasp* and he is incapable of loving anyone else.

”I will not love you. I will have no use for you other than sex and photo ops. That is something you might want to consider when making your decision.”

Enter Drew: a sexy green-eyed bodyguard who has been made to watch every sexual encounter between Nathan and Candace (and it was never mentioned in the book if he’s a voyeur or not) but apparently he has been subjected to such gruesome fate atrocity because it turns Mr. Dumont on.

After watching such obscenity Drew can’t hold himself any longer and decides that he wants a taste of Ms. Dumont himself, so he pounces gives in to temptation and snags a small kiss. A kiss that turns into full blown make out session with lots of groping and grinding, a make out session that, unsurprisingly, turns into sex.

Now would a honorable, respectable wife commit such a horrendous act? Although it was never mentioned in the contract if they could engage in other sexual relations, and I could argue that she got caught in the heat of the moment, and perhaps she was lonely and found solace in him but that doesn’t mean I condone her actions, I merely dismissed it as a profound lapse in judgement on her part. But that was a mistake I regretted later on in the book when she blatantly disregarded Drew’s feeling before brutally dumping him with no explanation whatsoever. And she had the audacity to say that she was seduced by Drew.

“I regret ever kissing him. With everything I’ve just learned, my purpose here, his sister … it feels like his seduction of me was a ploy, something to separate me from Nathan.”

I deem it important to share this gif of Drew I found on the internet.

Every character in this book was so shallow, selfish and superficial except Drew, who was atrociously wiped out from the book by the author, because, well, good guys finish last.

I had not previously read the Dumont Diaries so to me Trophy Wife was a new book with a brand new story/plot.

A stripper. What the fuck had he gotten into?

Having made some very bad choices while only caring for having a good time, at 27 years old Candace Tapers ends up as a pole dancer at Sammy’s, a seedy strip club, this hellhole, my best hope for a happily ever after is the Anna Nicole Smith Dream
I’m a broke idiot of a girl who needs rent money

And then he walks in, a diamond in the garbage gorgeous beautiful face, dominating, wealthy and a jackass. A high-roller that is far cry from the normal clientele of truckers and minivan driving tourist dads that walk through the doors.

Nathan Dumont, 35 years, makes her an offer to spend the night with him where she can set the price. And what does a girl with The low balance in my bank account. The high balance on my credit cards. do when a man offers you such a deal? She says “I’ll grab my purse.”

In case I die, call the cops on this asshole.

The next morning Nathan offers another deal, “It’s a proposal. Last night was an audition. I am offering you a business proposition.” It is a proposition that she should strongly consider, being One paycheck away from homelessness. and considering her father illness.

I'd wanted to escape my life, the seedy strip club and the mountain of bills. I had seized the opportunity to live in a mansion, fill my days with country clubs and caviar, my nights with romance and sex.

The suspense and sexual tension proved to be a heady combination. I loved the mystery that was weaved around Candy and could understand her reactions and conclusions. But it was the hot sizzling sex, drenched in raw emotions from all the characters and the revelation of the quite brutal deceit that kept me turning the pages.
It is a little bit sinister story with such scorching hot sex scenes that I recommend to forgo your knickers while reading!

Nathan Dumont is an enigmatic, cold, utterly dominant, and aloof class –A jerk while Candy is a kind hearted, stunning looking, sexy and sassy former stripper. Their story is a modern day rags-to-riches one, with a dark and suspenseful side.
I would have loved to see him gravel a lot more and for not to have off the hook so easily.
I did not care for the blow job act in the car after dinner, that was so demeaning.

The majority of the book is told from Candy’s POV but now and then we are treated to Nathan’s POV.

MMM, this is a hard one, on the one hand, I very much enjoyed Trophy Wife and on the other, there was some real no no's that totally turn me off when it comes to erotic fiction.
This is the main reason I've marked it down in my ratings.
Now obviously what sinks my ship may float your boat and more, we are all different and you may find my reasons don't bother you at all.
Now there are gonna be some teeny spoilers ahead as It's major unavoidable if I am going to explain why I've marked this down.
My major hard limit
CHEATING!!!!!
and not only cheating, the fact that no one's really bothered and I know this may seem a bit boring, but I like my Lover & Lovee to save the honey for each other, no excuses, no we were on a break and definitely no contact of any kind whatsoever, no exceptions and that means kissing also.
Why you might ask.
BECAUSE THERE MEANT TO BE BLOODY IN LOVE!!!!!!
or getting there at least and I'm a die hard romantic like that.
So yes no bodily contact with others while still being as filthy as downright sin is the flavour I like to see in my reading.
So, of course, this is where Trophy Wife let me down a bit, I maybe could have overlooked this if either Nathan or Candy had got their knickers in a twist diva style or something to that effect, but no let's brush it under the carpet like it never happened, and yes it's still cheating in my book when he takes his ex-girlfriend back and sleeps with her while still being married to Candy.
So the poor boy needed to get his leg over with his ex to decide he's in love with his wife geez!!
What happened did a shag unlock his brain.
And I do know that Candy is not exactly innocent either, They both behaved like a pair of absolute bloody pillocks in my opinion.
The second thing I had an issue with was the car incident. I have nothing against voyeurism at all but when Nathan gets candy to perform a certain service for his business associate and calls her a derogatory name in front of him well this wasn't hot or sexy one iota I was cringing in shame for the poor girl, awful behaviour.
The third and final thing and it may seem a tad silly but it's the name CANDY!!!
I hate it, it sounds like a stereotypical strippers name, which I know Candy is, but couldn't the poor girl have had something more sophisticated than Candy.
Despite my above bugbears, I really did like the rest of this book. It was mucky as hell and hot hot hot.
The story flowed brilliantly and I especially loved seeing the inner thoughts of both Candy & Nathan.
I feel that we needed to see inside Nathan's head as well as if I hadn't I don't know if I could have warmed to him at all.
He was such a dominant man, his vulnerability was so well hidden that it was his musings inside is own head that showed he had a softer side.
Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre gets a three & half from me a great read with some issues that for me are just personal preferences.
You they might not affect at all.
Trophy Wife is currently free on KU.

Alessandra Torre has cemented herself as an author who has perfected and honed in her craft as she vividly delivers a sexy, provocative and highly intoxicating erotic romance. With her sinful and seductive prose, Torre has readers like myself loving the Trophy Wife, which happens to be a revamp and newly improved storyline of The Dumont Diaries.

Keep in mind, The Dumont Diaries holds a special in my heart because it was my introduction to Alessandra Torre. While I really enjoyed and loved The Dumont Diaries, I will just say Alessandra continues to be that author who keeps on giving you more. More passion, intensity, steam, and intrigue as she added more layers to the story line of Candace and Nathan in the Trophy Wife. She slowly entices readers like myself to that proverbial rabbit hole, where we are bombarded with an explosive sexual relationship that was built on secrets, mystery, sex, and intrigue. As secrets begins to unfold, readers are left on edge as we begged, craved, and wanted more. Since this is one of those sexy reads that is angsty and steamy, I won’t be spoiling the book by giving you a recap of what to expect but what I will tell you is that Alessandra Torre is a masterful storyteller who has this amazing ability to create a story that readers will lust for. So if you are looking for a story that was highly erotic and intoxicating then this book is for you.
