This is a companion guide to Make your bed. The book is concise and a good guide to what the complete book is about. This book was originally a graduation commencement. This is a benefit to anyone regardless of your own personal history or background. There are several life lessons to be imparted on the reader. This book is a good guide for the original book and can help the reader to understand the direction the author us taking. I would recommend this read to anyone looking for self development and improvement.
This book is actually a summary of a speech given at a graduation, but also includes many original thoughts that are quite wonderful to mull over. I find it to be a great companion to the original speech, as it does add something special to the original meaning. After reading this, I do feel a lot better about life in general and plan on making my bed from now on. The premise is that making your bed allows you to start the day with a success. From that success others may follow, but if not then you still have at least one under your belt for the day. I think this is a beautiful way of looking at life whether you’re just starting a career or are pretty settled into your way of life. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make a difference in their routine and self-confidence.
This book is not like your ordinary self-help guide. It gives you life lessons in a unique perspective in that of a US Navy Admiral. The author, William H. McRaven uses his own personal experiences to demonstrate the different lessons and values he has learned throughout his life.
His autobiography brings the saying “when the going gets tough, the tough gets going” to a whole new level. I learned a lot from his stories and found his life fascinating and inspiring. That being said, it does get preachy at times with a lot of “fluff” to it. The content was good but not as spectacular as I had hoped due to the astounding reviews the book has received. However, I would still recommend reading the book since I stilled learned something from it.
Summary of Make Your Bed by Gary Hart serves as a supplement book to Make Your Bed authored by William McRaven.
Summary of Make Your Bed by Gary Hartbook actually encapsulates the original writing. However, the thoughts, motivational message and the inspiration is clearly evident in this summary book.
The title of the book springboards off of a basic premise which is make your bed. In essence, when one makes their bed as one of the first disciplines of the day, the individual can take satisfaction in that they have completed at least one thing during the course of the day and that one thing has been done well.
Intriguing chapter narratives include the response of a Navy seal in training who wants to quit. If in fact this sailor in Seal training wants to quit they then ring a bell three times indicating their desire to stop the training process. The message is as clear as a bell in that we should never quit despite the difficulty of things that cross our path or the circumstances that we are faced with. In other words we should never ring the bell because the bell indicates surrender or giving up.
Summary of Make Your Bed by Gary Hart is an inspirational read. Its purpose of capturing succinctly the thoughts and messages of the more thorough book has been achieved.
