Commonwealth is a novel about two families that and takes place over the course of fifty years. The center of the novel is a traumatic event that affects each family member in different ways.
The story opens with a description of an upcoming party. The author describes a young couple- a police officer named Francis Keating (nicknamed “Fix’’) and his wife Beverly. They are about to throw a christening party for their infant daughter Franny. Everything seems to go well at the party except for the fact that a man named Bert decides to shows up. After he and Fix’s wife “accidentally’’ exchange kiss nothing will be the same.
Fast-paced, rich in narrative and with mild twists and turns when it comes to the plot, “Commonwealth’’ is a story in which the author describes several stories, all combined and into one whole.
