Marcus owes thirteen souls to the Archdemon. Evaline is the one keeping his head on his shoulders. Kisuke was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the day of their shared trial by combat, all three vagabonds are whisked from the dungeons of Olsan to begin new lives in service to the unorthodox Queen of Laine – and she has a specific task in mind for them. From their first mission onward, everything spirals out of control, until one spell falls into the wrong hands – and the world is changed forever. The Redgate Chronicles take place in a world weathered by time, war, and magic, where the gods play mortals like chess pieces and nothing is ever set in stone.
Often, as you read a book, you get inklings of where the story is going. I am delighted to say that rarely occurred in this book. The characters are believable and easily pictured in the reads mind. I can't wait to read the next book! Bravo for a book well done!!!
