The lethargic sound of heels clicking against wood resonated across the sea. Footsteps descended the staircase, every assured step creating a menacing aura as it grew closer. Perspiration gathered along Louis’ palms as the rhythmic sound halted in front of him.
“Captain,” Malik greeted.
Louis watched out of his peripheral as Malik’s boots shuffled back a few steps. Sweat matted the hair along the nape of Louis’ neck as he waited for something to happen. He felt as if a sharp blade was twisting his gut as the silence became tangible.
There was a metallic slide of a sword being pulled out of its sheath, the sound startling Louis out of his cocoon of sterile shock. His shoulders jumped as the tip of a blade flattened underneath his jaw. Louis’ distorted reflection stared back at him in the polished metal. Engraved rose petals twisted his appearance as they crawled up the length of the sword. The sword lifted and took Louis’ chin with it.
Standing in front of Louis was Captain Styles.

This was so so good. Wow. I am not a pirate fic person, this is my first one, but I've been watching Once Upon a Time and it reminded me of this because it's been on my timeline quite a bit and I was not disappointed. It is so well written, the writing is so great and while I do prefer simpler over trying to make the wording too complicated, the writing here fit the vibe really nicely and I found myself enjoying that a lot. This had so much fluff and cute moments and I was expecting Harry to be a hard-ass but he was such a SOFTY and so domestic and honestly, I'm so fucking in love with the characterization. It had me giggling and throwing my legs up in bed. Also it delivered on jealous Harry AND Louis which is my favorite thing ever. This entire thing is basically fluff and I fucking love it which is crazy because I'm usually not interested unless there's angst but the fluff was so good and I adore seeing them try to establish a stable relationship. Also found family trope !!
The length was also really good, it wasn't too short and the pacing was nice. This feels like it could be a published book with name changes and that's something that I love in any fic I read. It was so soft and I loved the plot and the story line and their development is to die for. I was expecting a bit more angst, I genuinely thought Steve was going to die or something at some point, but I genuinely just really liked this fic and I'd love to reread it some time. Especially with the playlist I found on Spotify, it brings the whole book to life and makes it a whole experience.

Too much happened in this fic but I could simplify it as:
Civilian meets pirate.
Civilian falls in love with pirate.
Civilian becomes skilled pirate.
The pirate power couple go on a revenge quest.
Then they have a happily every after.
Side Ziam.
The flirting and lines that encompass this story make it worth it even if you're not typically into this genre.

the ending seemed a bit rushed, but other than that i loved every single thing about it!
