Buying and renovating the old plantation house seems like a great idea. The fact that it’s supposedly haunted by the ghost of a murdered prostitute is a minor oversight. I don’t believe in that crap anyway. But after a late night rendezvous with a sexy spirit elicits a very real nocturnal emission from me, I have to rethink my belief in poltergeists…and love. The intoxicating woman who has been trapped here for over a century casts a spell over me with her humor, courage, and sexual talents. I know I have to do something to free her from her ethereal prison. But will my actions break the metaphysical chains holding her here, or will they release something darker into my new home?

Although this one had me laughing out loud I didn't enjoy this one as much as the other two before. As with the other two books that D.P. has written this one is also novella size, insta love story.

Margot is pretty fun and funny for a ghost, but I guess you have to be after so many years being stuck in one place. But when she sees Blake, for once she doesn't want them to leave.

Blake is at the house to restore it to its natural glory. But he is not from around there so he has no idea the house he bought is hunted. When he starts hearing weird things he thinks he is going nuts.

Payne brings a ghost story to life.

Spirited is the third novella in D.P. Payne's Absurd series.

This was a very enjoyable novella. Insta-love is always a favorite of mine.

Margot is a ghost just trying to entertain herself for the last one hundred and thirty years being trapped in the house where she died. She loves pranking people.
Blake is a renovator. He sees an old plantation house for sell on the internet and buys it, seeing all the potential it has. It is ready to get it back to its former glory.

If you have a couple of hours to spare I highly recommend opening up this little novella. You won't regret it.

Spirited

Although it is book three in the series, it can be read on its own.

Margot is hilarious and I love her smart mouth and attitude. Blake is looking for tv fame and figures renovating a home in New Orleans is his big ticket. Together the crazy adventure begins! Murder in the old home, historical brothel, young strapping males bringing the mansion back to life. Another absurd tale to enjoy! Laugh out loud moments.

I really enjoyed this paranormal novella from D.P. Payne. I became addicted to stories set in New Orleans a while back and D.P. has done an amazing job of bringing the imagery of the city into this book. I really felt a connection to the bayou and the mansion; felt the dampness, smelled the mustiness, sensed the fog. It's what New Orleans represents to me and since I've never been there, I have to rely on the author to bring that out in their words so I can visualize it. D.P. has done that. I'm sure I must have been from the south in a previous life. Plantation mansions are so beautiful to me.

Since it's paranormal, the author had a huge task ahead to make the plot line, which involves voodoo, ghosts and the underworld as believable as possible. She did a great job and gave me the "eeries" while reading. I really have no 'belief' when if comes to the paranormal but I had no problem believing everything that was divulged in this book. Of course, I can't tell you what those things were, you'll need to read it yourself.

It had what I believe was a happy ending, it was so enjoyable and at times quite humorous. I look forward to more paranormal stories from this author. I think the ghosts of Faillard mansion have more stories to tell and more games to play on their unsuspecting residents.

Spirited was so kick ass and incredible it just blew my mind. Truthfully, I am not one that really reads paranormal books, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I decided to give a shot. Even though this is the third book in the series, this is the first one that I have read but I will have to go read the others.
Blake buys a mansion out on the bayou, hoping to get a tv deal from him renovating it. He didn't do any research on the house, so when he hears about the legend of the house and what happened in it he doesn't know what to believe. Margot, a hooker that lived in the house in the 1880s and was murdered there, comes to Blake. Crazy things happen for these two. Is there a way that these two can be together or is there just to much time gone? You have got to read this book!

Perfect for Halloween, this New Orleans ghost story is a lot of fun!

Dead since a massacre at the brothel where she lived, Margot is stuck in the dilapidated mansion but still finds ways to amuse herself with those who dare to trespass. Until Blake and his crew show up to renovate the building, and Margot finds a new form of entertainment.

Blake can't believe his own eyes at first, but he can't deny the growing love he feels for Margot and his need to free her from her trapped existence. This story is filled with humor, a bit of sympathetic history, and enough sparks to light up the French Quarter. The HEA is brilliantly done, cleverly including Blake's friends in the deal. It's a terrific story, great for fans of ghost stories and romances alike. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Wow - Blake and Margot are crazy entertaining. I devoured this book in one sitting and I didn't want it to end.

This talented author created a distinctly unique storyline as always. Vivid details and beautiful articulation had this entire novella playing in my head like an episode of my favorite show. Even if this series is supposed to be a bit absurd per the series name - it was provactative and humorous at every turn.

Blake was destined from the moment he entered the house. He may have had big plans to video his renovation, Margot had other ideas and she didn't waste any time. The second her shenanigans started and Blakes attraction sparked - they were a super fun read.

Will Blake discover a away to rescue Margot from an eternity as a spirit? You'll have to read to find out. Great story with fantastic characters.

ARC given in exchange for review

This was great start to finish. Blake thinks his new Mansion will garner him and his friends great frame.... that is until things happen. An epically funny read from start to finish and even some WTF moments. If you want something light and fun, and even a little spooky this book is great. DP was a new to me author, I can't wait to read their other works, especially if they are anything like Spirited.

Spirited by D.P. Payne is book 3 in her Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd series & is a fully standalone short story...

What do renovating an old plantation house, a murdered prostitute & voodoo all have in common? They're all part of a fun, slightly spooky, easy read that is extremely HOT!

"Holy ghost f*ck, Batman"!

Ok. So I struggle with the quick romance style novella. I'm not one for insta-love. However, getting beyond that, the writing is good, and there were parts that had me literally laughing out loud. I love the paranormal aspect and the idea of falling for a ghost! I just wish the story could've been longer. It had great potential to be a 5 star-can't-put-it-down read. I'm hoping this author sees my review and gives me a longer story!! Hint hint!

This was another solid offering from this series. This story focused on a man who is renovating a mansion that everyone claims is haunted. The man not only meets a ghost but ends up being involved with her also. The book was funny, spooky and easy to read.

Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! ❤️

Forget about watching renovating & fixing up houses & ghost-hunting TV shows, This book sure makes up a lot of wet dreams & scary ghost stories you tell by the fire & creepy sounds from the haunted. What a funny, twisted, haunted, sexy, steamy all around in good fun of a ghost story that was.

This was really cute. I’m starting to think I like this specific niche romance genre. Likable characters with an interesting plot, and I love that it’s a quick read.

I've never been one to get to into paranormal romances and so I was skeptical at first but I found this beautiful story to be one of my favorites immediately! The story is short and sweet and will leave you wanting to find a beautiful ghost immediately!! I love the ending and how the author leaves you wanting more but it's an ending that leaves you satisfied!

SPIRITED is book 3 in the Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd. It's a complete standalone and a short novella.

Margot was a prostitute in a brothel 135 years ago. Her ghost haunts the plantation/brothel that she was murdered in. Blake buys the old house, determined to bring it back to life («-- no pun intended). He brings two of his friends in to help him restore the place but soon it becomes clear that there's more going on there than meets the eye.

This will be short and sweet.

I haven't read the first two books but this story definitely lives up to the name of the series! The romance between Blake and Margot is totally ABSURD, it's far fetched, a lighter take on the "afterlife", insta-love with a ghostly twist. BUT it's fun and sexy! It's an hour or two of pure entertainment. This book is meant to be amusing, a sultry respite from the real world and D.P. Payne (aka. Gwyn McNamee) absolutely delivered.

Told mostly from Blake's POV with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Fabulous story

I was surprised when this didn't interlink with the first two books, but I still absolutely adored it. Margo and Blake are a very special couple and I fell so easily in love with them as they fell for each other. The story held me spellbound from the first line to the last, it even had me shedding a tear or two with it's absolute beauty.

Spirited is one hot and steamy love story that will touch your heart. It is well written, captivating and fabulous. My only complaint, if you could call it such, is that I wish this had been a longer story just because I was enjoying it so much.

I loved this book! This is the third installment in the Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd series by D.P. Payne and the first book i've read by the author. I'm totally hooked!
When Blake Coopman bought the run down plantation house and former brothel online in the hopes of restoring it to its bygone grandeur and hopefully finding a little fame and fortune along the way, he never imagined that he would literally find his soul mate! If you're looking for a new take on PNR that involves a voodoo Priestess, a prostitute ghost, and true love then this is the book for you.
