James "Jimmy" Walsh has always tended to live his life with his head in the clouds. Since he was a kid he’s dreamt of a life of grandeur beyond the confines of his small river valley town of Fallbrook, Wisconsin.
Torn between following his head or his heart, James chose to leave his college sweetheart, Haley Thompson, for the promise of a bigger life. By the time James realized his mistake, Haley was no longer available—having been swept away in the arms of Fallbrook’s celebrated son and most eligible bachelor.
Struggling to deal with the consequences of his actions, combined with a new and unexpected responsibility dropping into his life, James makes a rash decision that will ultimately affect every person close to him, and not for the better.
Now, five years later and living in California, James has found a new life. One where he can distance himself from the problems of his past and the people he left behind. That is until—following a series of unfortunate circumstances culminating over one very bad day—James is forced to do the one thing he's dreaded since the day he left Fallbrook…return.
A quick and fulfilling summer read! I felt absorbed in the character's plights and wanted to keep reading after every chapter. Recommending to anyone who enjoys stories that tug at your heart. Kudos to the author...a great debut.
