Her sire and Mistress is the direct descendant of Count Dracula, and that means she has a reputation to uphold. Meetings with vampiric dignitaries, secret blood and bondage dungeons, and vampire hunters now fill the couple's nights. is this world everything Bec thought it would be, or will she fall under the pressure of what it means to be the submissive to the most powerful vampiress in the world?

I'm giving this book 3 stars as I neither loved nor hated it. I did, however, skim-read many pages, so I can't give a detailed review other than to say it didn't hold my attention throughout. Shame really as I loved the prequel.
Though Lily Luchesi’s ‘The Hunger Within’ is a sequel to a previous work, novella ‘A Bloody Legacy’, it can easily be read as a standalone piece, which is fortunate since that’s what I did with it. Granted, it would have probably aided in learning characters and motivations and so forth having read the prequel beforehand, but nonetheless, one picks up the thread of the tale pretty quickly. Essentially, ‘The Hunger Within’ is a fun, spirited, and decidedly erotic spin on the legendary Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’, focused around Rebecca Renfield, former mortal who has been turned vampire by none other than a direct descendant of the Count himself. Now, not only is this vampire dominatrix, Victoria, related to Dracula, but she is also Rebecca’s Mistress. This means what’s in store for us involves some pretty intense and exceedingly hot female on female sex, as well as descents into the world of BSDM, and femdom, but as the author herself states with the catchy tagline ‘Vampirism isn’t all sex, blood, and handcuffs’ and Rebecca is just about to discover that. There’s a whole lot more to this tale than mere sex and ventures into bondage, though the author certainly has a knack for writing those particular scenes, neatly slotting them in where applicable with wicked glee and bringing a wide array of emotions to the table. There is action in here, there’s plenty of thrills, drama, and moments of poignancy that elevate the entire tale above simple paranormal erotica. In fact, though I suppose that probably is what umbrella it would fall under genre-wise, it definitely has many other facets of other genres. Even as a sequel, where it would be assumed most folk have some concept of the characters, the character development here is excellent, with the reader not stumbling along as though they’ve missed something, being brought up to speed by the author reiterating imperative points from the book’s predecessor. The pacing is quick, the characters are intriguing and engaging, even the less than admirable ones, and the various subplots that spring up around the main narrative are carried out adroitly, and of course, the sexual content is delivered with panache. All in all, this is one hell of a unique take on the Dracula legend, and vampires in general. Vampire books are a dime a dozen these days, particularly those that delve into more romantic domains, but The Hunger Within is most certainly not one of those average garden variety entities. Hot, bloody, thrilling, and wonderfully detailed. Check it out, if you dare.
Once again this author has earned another five star review from me. When Lily puts pen to paper, magic happens. In this continuation of her short story "A Bloody Legacy", we find Bec learning that her sexy and beautiful dominatrix sire is a direct descendant of Dracula himself, and is also the most powerful Vampiress in the world. Thrown into a world of vampire hunters, dignitaries and dark secrets, Bec has to figure out how to deal with the pleasures and also the complications of this new life she has chosen.
From beginning to end this book is raw sexual pleasure with thrills and intrigue along the way. So happy she listened to her readers and gave us an amazing sequel to Rebecca's story.
I enjoyed this sequel so much more than I did the first book, A Bloody Legacy. It was a longer read, which I always prefer. It had spice and substance. The character dynamics were interesting, and the heat level was... Whew! This is vamp fem dome done right!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this story in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Speechless!! The Hunger Within is a twisted, suspenseful and very sexy read! It's not exactly your typical run of the mill Vampire tale. It's so much more and I loved it. I was sucked into this world right from the start and by the time I finished I still wanted more. This is a must read!!!!!
Before previously reading the prequel novelette to The Hunger Within called A Bloody Legacy, I had yet to read Bram Stoker's Dracula, which was the inspiration to Luchesi's new F/F BDSM stories of late. However, in May I was finally able to sit down and read the beloved classic and am so glad that I did because now I can fully appreciate Lily's newest releases! However, reading Dracula is in no way necessary to follow or enjoy these stories, especially because Luchesi has a way of explaining or rehashing important plot points from the prequel novelette and ideas she incorporated from Dracula into her own story without being long-winded or confusing.
I loved revisiting Bec and Victoria. I've never personally read a relationship quite like theirs. I've read books whose main or side characters are gay or bisexual, but I've never read a book solely about a F/F relationship, let alone one that included BDSM. I've now been introduced to a whole new genre! You can imagine how intense or kinky normal BDSM is, but throw two vampires into the mix and you're in for an intensified carnal and sensual story of pain and pleasure that is sure to please fans. What I found most interesting, though, wasn't how Bec and Vic interacted in sexual situations as dominant and submissive but rather how they interacted outside of those situations. I expected Victoria to be less than sensitive, emotionally distant, and controlling to an extent. However, she was actually extremely sweet and gentle with Bec, which I was extremely pleased to discover.
Besides the fun take on Dracula's and Renfield's descendants, I immensely enjoyed the inclusion of vampire hunters and learning more about this vampiric world. Admittedly, this story is very different when compared to the vampire novels I've read in the past, such as the YA Cirque du Freak series and the Chronicles of Vladimir Todd, but I'm so glad I gave this new genre a go! Luchesi continually gives her best, writing about strong women, passionate love, horrific adventure, and lots and lots of blood! Keep them coming!!!
Please note that I received a free ebook copy of The Hunger Within from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Lily Luchesi's "The Hunger Within" is the continuation of the prequel "A Bloody Legacy." Once again, this has a lot packed into it. There's F/F, BDSM, Vampirism, and much more. Has connections to her Paranormal Detectives series, but this one is told from the other point of view. What it's like to be the vampire people are hunting. It's very dark and the sex is pretty extreme...vampires can take a lot of pain!

This book was a little different than the first. In a good way. It still had the sexy scenes but it also had a story to go with these scenes. I liked learning more about Victoria and where she came from. Also more about their Vampire world and how it works. Very interesting to find out about the different houses and their powers. I enjoyed this book and their characters. I look forward to reading more from Miss Luchesi. I give this 4 stars!
The Hunger Within is not your customary stereotypical vampire story.... It's a heck of a lot steamier!
There's a lot of action and intrigue packed into this short story from Lily Luchesi, as Bec starts her new life alongside her dominating sire and fathoms out how to deal with all the complications that go with it.
Impressively written, this novel tells the tale of Count Dracula's daughter, Victoria and her new companion Rebecca. The loyalty and trust that are described throughout their relationship at the very least deserved respect if not desired as well.
I could not put this book down. Luchesi gives us sizzling hot, melt your kindle scenes. We have action and mystery, keeping you on the edge of your seat. A bit of blood and gore. And let's throw in the best part, bits and pieces of Dracula history and famous names we all loved growing up, from the original books and movies! Package it all into a book with a gorgeous cover and we have The Hunger Within.
What you must understand is that I entered Luchesi's world not knowing what to expect when I read A Bloody Legacy, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enraptured, intrigued, and desiring more. A Bloody Legacy engendered within me an almost feral desire and anticipation for The Hunger Within, which I began literal seconds after finishing ABL.
I was not disappointed.
The Hunger Within was a mental workout, in and of the fact that it flipped the script. You were seeing the perspectives of the vampires, and not from the viewpoint of "these insects are our food," but with layers, intricacies, and an hitherto unexplained insight into the life of the nocturnal. As I am a huge fan of complexity, this was a most refreshing thing to behold, and read. The dynamic between Vic and Bec was one that never EVER lost my interest. You have the literal run of the gamut...physical intrigue that you feel in your very core, clashing of beliefs and ways of life that intersect in the most gorgeous and sexiest of ways, understanding of one's role in the new reality established by the coupling, and finally, the witnessing of love that has been tempered through flames and came out of the other side as resolute as iron. Not to mention the delicious sex, which gripped me in every way conceivable. Luchesi describes the coition in painfully honest, intricate, and graphic detail, and, in this case, the pain is literal at times. Through her wordplay and skill, Luchesi describes BDSM much like one might describe a cup of coffee: Sometimes bright and welcoming, sometimes dark and bitter, but always HOT.
Five stars all the way. I would have done SIX if it were possible.
