When Lulu and Elizabeth find themselves in Camelot, they are expecting to meet King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Instead, the twins enter the world of the Lily Maidens, an organization of women who travel through legends and time in pursuit of knowledge.
But dark forces are uniting against the Kingdom; Merlin, the Black Pig, and a vast army of men and mythological beasts are marching for Camelot's gate. Only the magic of science, mathematics, and poetry can preserve honor's code and defend the Kingdom against the impending onslaught of evil.

I adored the first book by Lilac Mohr, Math & Magic in Wonderland and anxiously awaited a follow up book. I was not disappointed. Math & Magic in Camelot is equally as clever, charming, and original. Full of math, poetry, and literature. It is so well-written and the adventures the twins go on are so fun. It is such a great way to learn math in a living way. One of my favorite aspects of this book is the Play Along section that you will see a prompt for at the end of each chapter. You go to the end of the book and there is information on things that were spoken of in each individual chapter. Such a great idea. I am really looking forward to using this book in my homeschool. I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
Mohr's books are a great tool in helping kids fall in love with math. Math is so much more than arithmetic and fractions, and when kids (and adults) see that, their ability to engage with it in all its various forms increases their love for it.
That being said, I much preferred the first book in this series. This one's story was harder to engage, and the accompanying puzzles at the end of each chapter felt a bit more like rabbit trails than helping the characters solve the mystery.
Yet, as an adult, I learned things, and it was a fabulous enrichment to our math studies for homeschool (but would be great for any family seeking to increase math literacy, appreciation, and love).
Another delightful adventure from Lilac Mohr. This sequel differed from Math and Magic in Wonderland but it didn't disappoint. The major difference was this book was more focused on literature, poetry, and science than mathematics. We continue to follow Elizabeth and Lulu on another adventure but this time in Camelot. We enjoyed watching the girls accomplish separate journeys with their guides the three Lily Maidens. We met some interesting characters good and evil. This is a great hero and a coming of age tale. We hope the series continues.
This book is a fun way for kids (and adults!) to grow in the subjects of math and logic. My children are always eager to read it and work through the puzzles. This book did not disappoint!
