A year ago, I was attacked by werewolves. I’ve hated their kind ever since.

Now, I’m being told I’m one of them. That Jules, a tortured, gothic werewolf prince, is my soul mate and that I may one day rule over a werewolf pack.

Not how I saw my life going, but fighting my destiny isn’t an option. Neither is ignoring the powerful connection I feel to Jules.
But facing my future is going to be dangerous when not all of my pack wants me around.

This book pulled me in pretty much immediately. Lake and Legend are best friends although there is a problem. Legend is an old (but young looking)vampire and he has been banished to the Common Realm for a year due to a tryst with the one of the powers that be’s mistresses. His year is up so the two go out to a bar. Legend is celebrating going back, but Lake is grieving the impending loss of her only friend. While out, they see a girl that’s been attacked by werewolves near the bar and find out the werewolves were really looking for Lake to attack. After this, Legend finds a way to bring Lake back to the Midnight Realm where he lives, for a twenty four hour period. But he suspects something about Lake that she has no idea about. She has no memory before the age of eight when she was found in the Common Realm outside the Midnight Realm portal, alone and wandering. So Legend is betting on Lake never going back to the Common Realm-a place where Lake grew up in foster homes, had no friends, and worked as a waitress. It’s also a place where Lake had been brutally attacked by werewolves that called her by another name. Legend saved her back then and so their friendship began. The story really takes off once she goes to the Midnight Realm and meets the prince of the Violet Mountain werewolf pack, Jules. She has an immediate connection to him and he seems to know who she is. And what she is, turns out to be a missing werewolf princess. One whose powers have been dormant for a decade.

Lake is snarky, intelligent, beautiful, and forever trying to make waves. Jules has been broken since Lake left ten years before. He is extremely protective of Lake, and slowly lets her in on what her history is and what they are to each other. That is, when his sister Liberty isn’t telling her things behind his back. His father is the King and he’s extremely evil. Legend is a wonderful best friend to Lake throughout the book. He ended up being my favorite side character, although a werewolf named Shade, one of Jules’s guards, was a fun addition to the story.

While I enjoyed the author’s vision of the Midnight realm and all it’s different creatures, the different colored sky, sun, and stars, I have problems with the author’s scents she describes. Jules smells like moonlight and violets. What? And how does anyone know what moonlight smells like? Then there’s a drink that tastes like luminous sunshine. And a villain that smells like black roses. In this respect, this book really reads like a young adult book. But these characters are all adults. It’s mentioned many times, enough that it bothered me.

I am not going into the story any deeper, other than to say it’s a romance, but it’s also full of intrigue and a mystery. Betrayals, meeting other supernatural creatures, and what Lake and Jules are to each other is just part of this book. Why was Lake in the Common Realm, and why can’t she remember her past is also intertwined into the story. I enjoyed Lake’s snark and her relationship with Jules. I liked seeing her come into her powers and seeing how strong she becomes.

Although this is 18 plus for suggested readership, it reads more like a young adult book at times. But it’s 18 plus due to sexual scenes, language, and violence or references to violence. Recommended to paranormal romance readers.

Lake couldn't remember anything from before she was 8 years old. She didn't have friends or family except for the vampire Legend. He brought her with him to another realm where Lake figured out the truth about who and what she was, none of which was real surprising.

Lake was special in just about every way imaginable. Everyone liked her. She had special powers. It was weird that all of the people who knew her acted as if they knew her when they hadn't seen each other in 10 years. She was 8 when they last knew her. People change a hell of a lot between the ages of 8 and 18.

It was even weirder that Jules and Lake had strong feelings for each other before she went away. Realistically they were way to young to have been as devoted as they were. The romance was disappointing just because their attraction didn't have to build. They had some intense insta-love from the first moment they saw each other. They did spend time getting to know each other, but not as well as I would have liked.

I'm not sure if I'll continue with this series of not. It was an easy read, but I'm not deeply invested in the characters. The next book will be about Legend, and he was by far the best character.

This was a weird reread for me. I remembered a lot, but what bothers me the most was the ending. For some reason, I could have sworn this wrapped up at the end. However, I think getting a book two will never happen. It’s been in the works since 2019 and still hasn’t been published. Along with that Sorensen has a tendency to not finish her series.

I saw this on Kindle Unlimited and thought the blurb was good enough to give it a shot. It was a great start to a new series. There is a bit of insta love and some stuff that I wish I knew more about, but it’s all good. If you like paranormal romance (extra on the romance), then you should give this a read.

This was a surprisingly enjoyable novel. I can't put into words as to why I went into this book apprehensively. I've been in a book slump as of late so due to that circumstance I've been DNFing books left and right. I'm glad this was an exception.

Jules was one of the brighter characters in this novel. He's smart, sweet and caring, but ruthless when push comes to shove. He was one of the more sane character's and I appreciated his presence overall.

I guessed/saw most of the "twists" coming from miles away, which was disappointing when I was finally proved right. I like stories that keep me guessing and unfortunately, this was not one of those stories. I liked it nonetheless, but I wasn't blown away by it. The next novel (based on the last few pages of this one) seems to be Legends story and I can't help but be excited about it.

My Favorite Quotes:

"Emotional scars, they take time [to heal]. Sometimes more than physical wounds."

"(...) cruelty exists everywhere."

"[We're] running from the past and chasing a future I hope we can find."

Let me try this again.

Here are the first few sentences:
The guy standing in front of me in the alleyway might just kill me. Well, considering his immortality and constant bloodlust, the term vampire is more accurate than guy.
His name is Legend, and his silvery grey eyes are bleeding with irritation. Every muscle in his lean body is wound tight, and his crimson lips are curled, revealing razor-sharp fangs descending from his gums.
If I were a normal girl, fear would be spiking through my veins by now. But only calm lulls inside me. A laugh even escapes my lips.

If she were a normal girl... *cue eye roll*

I can't even get through page one. It's just ridiculous infodumping between two people that already know all this information and I can't help but read the narrator's voice like a teenager girl. The writing is just awful.

Sorensen has another winner!!

This book is unlike anything I have ever read! It is passion, drama, and adventure rolled into one. A can not put down or I might miss something original! But at this point what did you expect from Jessica Sorensen?!

This I read already months ago, but didn't have the time to write review then.
I think I remember it pretty clearly and wasn't anything special.
Nothing I'll want to re-read, however I will read the sequel when it comes out...maybe, probably, thou not right away, when I'll be in the mood for some meh-sort-of-good YA fantasy.

What the book itself was like? A YA-ish fantasy story with werewolves and other creatures like vampires, witches and such, different dimensions, that one special girl, her prince (literally) and the big bad that is to be overcome to save them all.
A cliffhanger, of course, as the story will continue in next book. Don't remember if the cliffhanger was big enough to warrant it being called a cliffhanger or if the story just needs to continue in the next one. Don't really care either.

I guess I'm kind of indifferent about the book now, but the fact that I do remember the plot & characters speaks up for it.

Also, not quite as innocent of a YA fantasy, touched upon some darker deeds as well.

My tastes lately are vying away from childish? YA, not childish...immature? let's say immature YA so might be a while until I pick up the 2nd book after it comes out, but since I am considering reading it to see how the plot continues - Forever Violet is your YA to read when you're in mood for some regular youngster fantasy.

Something I noticed from reading this author's three books in a row: the heroine almost ALWAYS looks the same. Tall and beautiful! Is it a coincidence or is it just me?

Can't get over the beauty that is this book. Why can't the next one be out already?!

This is an awesome read. It started off in a way that I wasn't sure I'd like. The relationship between the werewolf leads going a tad fast for my usual taste, but somehow this author was able to straddle the nearly impossible line of love-at-first-sight and slowly-falling-for-you that I don't think I've ever seen before. Or at least that I've never seen done so beautifully. I love the creativity that went into the storyline, the heart wrenching struggles, and of course the blooming love. I'm dying for the next book to be out already, praying to the literary genius that is Jessica Sorensen to let me see more of this world and this captivating story.

Definitely suggested if you like paranormal, and have a penchant for mystery as this book checks both boxes. Again I cannot wait for book 2.

I'll take seconds please!

Whoa! I so loved this book! It caught my attention and then demanded it from me. I was consumed by it. Where to begin? The storyline was not predictable. There were a lot of new and creative plot builders that just leave you begging for answers. I love it when an author can take several different levels of mystery and action off of the main story to then slowly weave them together. It just sets up killer anticipation and suspense. Made me want to read read read til I gobbled up the very last word. Yes. This book had me hungry for answers. There are also so many different storylines laid within the main story you can't help but make connect and foreshadow possible outcomes. I love it when an author can kick my brain into action from running along with the story to running within it. Trying to put all the pieces together. Also, soooo happy the ending left me with intrigue and anticipation but didn't just launch me off a cliff. I hate cliff hangers on well written stories leaving you twisted up in knots. No knots, thank you very much.

Now the characters. Oh my heart. Jules. Jules. Jules. I love him. Yep. I love his heart, his strength, his integrity and his pure respect for his "other half". I know it had a more formal title in the book that explains the depth of it better but I can't spell it. If you read this book you will know why. The heart of their love story is so seeped in that theme it really is something more then I can spell out both figuratively and literally. Lake. Sigh. Part of her story I hated because I just don't like the idea or should I say topic but at least it wasn't graphic. Her character encompasses a truth to who she is when we first meet her and to who she grows to become. Totally believable especially since Jules and Lake get to grow into a relationship. We as readers get to enjoy that. It wasn't rushed. Just perfect. The other supporting characters are so clearly articulated and perfectly placed that I couldn't help but grasp each one and keep them and their storylines in the forefront of my mind. One character in particular I haven't even met except through the eyes of others that I loathe him already. Yes this storyline is that well written . Pick it up and prepare to lose yourself. I'm off to finish the series.

Overall Rating: 3.25 out of 5 wine corks
Heroine: Not the brightest crayon in the box
Dude: He makes our eyes glow violet
Steaminess: Two words: Elation Field
Brutality: Puppy sacrifices

This book is a perfect palette cleanser, a great way to restart your brain after a particularly brutal or emotional book. Forever Violet is a cheesy insta-love novel full of pick-up lines and tragic heroes and heroines.

Realms and supernaturals

This book had many qualities I love in a read, supernatural beings, check, crazy twist and turns, check, crazy as all he'll plot..check. The characters are all pretty much likeable, and the story flows nicely. The issues I did have for this read were lake self problems, my pet peeve is weak female role, and I will give her credit for the times she did turn into a bad ass, but I was let down time and time again with her constantly putting herself down, a lot of woah is me...I'm broken, no one wants a disaster. I wanted to give up a few times on this book because I really had enough of her downer Debbie shit. Everyone is going through something in this book, and yet it's always, this is my fault, I wish I could do more but I'm a coward, blah blah blah, half the time this book was nothing but self loathing, it is ridiculous. And the only time she's seems to get outta her funk is when she finally was able to kiss mister Prince himself without cringing, and before that there was a lot of "oh God I like him but he's a wolf, I just cant, all wolf's are bad, I can't be kissing him, then finally when she gets past her bullshit it's all kiss and make out every damn page followed again by yup, self loathing. It is utterly exhausting, she just screamed big baby to me, and yes I get that she's been through a lot, and what she has been through is horrible, but finding a place with awesome ppl who care for her i thought she would become stronger, wanted her to turn her nightmares into fuel and make her a force to be reckoned with, not let it hold her back so much, but unfortunately no such luck guys, maybe in the next installment we can see lake grow into a warrior who kicks serious supernatural ass.

This book is amazing. With Lake trying to remember her past and legend being such an amazing friend. The friendships in this are well written and not fickle. Jules never giving up on Elora and coming to terms with "Lake" not being the same girl he knew over a decade ago, but still accepting and loving her, it is a wonderfully written relationship. Lake went through so much with her attack and has so many trust issues but it wasn't over written where it became to repetitive. Embracing what she is and what happened to her but being able to move past it in what appeared a true coping mechanism. Rather then some leading characters who simply accept and move on or who never seem to actually move on...she embraced everything in a "real" way. I look forward to book #2.

Unexpectedly great! So I was mooching around book available on Kindle Unlimited and I came across this book, I was expecting a 'new' werewolf novel and same old, same old. But this book has a wee bit more, firstly it is set in a world with multiple dimensions where earth is used as a supernatural prison, secondly if follows an orphaned girl who last lost all memories before the age of eight and has bounced from house to house since. This book follows her story as her best friend and vampire takes her to his home dimension on a visitors pass, Lake find out more about her supernatural's, her forgotten past, her friends and her enemies.

Although Forever Violet does have a few tropes, I enjoyed some unexpected turns it took and it has me hooked and wait for the next in the series.

Brilliant book

I read this book because I thought it was a standalone .... it is not ... the second book is from another characters prospective. Perhaps it will continue the storyline but not with the characters from this book which to me feels unfinished. I dont feel Jules and Lakes story is finished hence it felt a poor ending. Such a shame as the storyline is really good. The characters are really likeable although Lake is quite a damsel. Lake while lost in a world she doesnt belong in she makes her way through the foster care system. She meets Legend when he saves her from a very traumatic event. Anyone who has issues dealing with rape should reconsider reading this book. Sexual and language in the content.
