Stella and her father have only just reunited when tragedy strikes. The shifters attack their returning king, and Stella throws herself in front of her father to save him. She awakens in a basement prison with an injured, beastly Harmon. She’d do anything to escape and find her father, but why hasn’t he come for her? And why isn’t Harmon interested in escaping with her? As Harmon slowly reveals the truth about her parents, her sisters, and herself, she must choose whether to trust him and the pack that held her captive for so long or forge a path of her own.
This is a story of buried secrets and a love destined to overcome all odds. Not everything is what it seems in this retelling of the classic fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast, as you’ve never seen it before.
Author's note: Girl Among Wolves trilogy fits into a complex world of fairytales and Norse mythology. It is a complete trilogy, but if you'd like to visit new worlds as well as revisit familiar places and faces, I recommend this reading order.
Why did I read this book knowing how terrible the first one was. This had such potential to be epic but instead the characters suck and their personalities are even worse. You think the author would really show the characters growing together instead of these childish moments. Why why why did I bother reading this. Thank god it was free
I enjoyed this book and it kept my interest though it's hard to relate to Stella. All I feel is sorry for her. Though she is growing up in age and emotionally, there is so much she doesn't understand. How can her entire family treat her like shit? And Love? She is starting to get the boundaries of what that is though she doesn't understand that either. So, is she going to overcome all the Hell in her life and realize Harmon loves her enough...or walk away for good? Next book Please.
I do not understand how this book has 4 stars, it was absolutely terrible to read.
First of all, I found multiple errors in this book. Spelling and even formatting wise, not to mention the run on sentences! Was this book rven edited?
Basically this is book 1 all over again except now Stella's not stuck in an attic, she's stuck in a basement. And the amount of times she flip flops between wanting to stay and wanting to leave made me want to ram my head into a wall. She doesn't even get out of the basement until 70% through this book. It's just her and Harmon messing around while she cant decide if she likes him or not or if she wants to stay or not. You could literally take 100 pages out of this book with the amount of times she talks about wanting real freedom but not knowing what freedom is anymore, and then the other 100 pages for after we find out the big reveal that shouldnt have been surprising to anyone in the least.
Spoiler alert, after learning at the end of the last book that her father was a shifter, surprise surprise, she's also a shifter. And why is this such a shock to anyone really, especially her? If i was in Stellas situation and saw my father was a mountain lion I'd be like "well my mother was a wolf and i didnt get that trait so perhaps i could turn into an animal if i wanted to?" And then she also happens to be the princess of the shifters? Like, my GOD how special can this pathetic girl be? She is the most unlikeable MC i have read in a looooong time.
I have no desire to root for Stella. In fact, everyone in this book is so unlikeable it leaves me wondering if the author wants us to enjoy these stories at all. We're painted a picture that Stellas dad is this great guy, nope, hes a scumbag that doesnt actually care about his daughter. Yvonne was shady from the start, but she still tries to string us along into thinking maybe she's not so bad? But nope, still bad. Harmon is surprisingly the only real character that could get some pity, but he's still so one dimensional that I can't get behing routing for his curse to be broken.
I don't even want to get into how bad this book was when talking about self image and seeing people as things more than real live beings. Stella is so vain in this book, despite multiple (and i mean MULTIPLE) times of her stating she doesnt care about how she looks anymore like she would've when she left home (because she wanted to be a model, and dont worry, if you forget you will be reminded every few chapters or so) she makes multiple comments in her head about how grotesque Harmon has become. It's appalling to read her thoughts on him.
At the end of the day, this book is absolutely one of the worst published things I've ever read. It felt like a first draft from wattpad that was copy pasted into a word document with no real thought as to how a real story with layers and characters and complications and something to root for really is. I could give a summary of the intire book right here so you wouldn't have to read it because NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENS:
Stella escapes the wolves after the coronation, only to get kidnapped again because she offered herselves to the wolves in exchange for her father. She blacks out after having one of her "fits" and ends up trapped in a basement with Harmon, who is now a grotesque beast trapped between human and wolf form. (Because if you weren't sure if this was a beauty and the beast retelling, you sure are now) She spends an undetermined amount of time in this basement with Harmon where we learn he cant shift back and if he doesnt within 3 months he'll lose his wolf forever and his chance at being alpha. She holds him through the first full moon and refuses to leave with Yvonne, the witch, who, frankly was acting a little sketchy to begin with. He doesnt transition and another month goes by where we end up learning Harmons actually not trapped there, its his house and he's just too ashamed to go outside Stella takes this as some big betrayal even tho he never said it wasnt his house. Stella tried to run but he catches her because they still dont want her to leave for some reason. The next full moon comes and shes planning an escape again, but clearly thats not gonna work out, shes thrown back into the basement and we find out that (omg!) Shes a shifter 😒 she leaves harmons to get her dad from her moms attic after seeing him in the mirror, scares the shit out of her mom for shits and gigs, goes back to harmon, leaves again and this time for good with her dad but by the next full moon she suddenly realizes shes in love with him and goes back to save him. She brings her tigers eye necklace to make him human because it had a spell to keep her from shifting and apparently older spells can block out newer ones for some reason? She gives him the stone, they tell each other how much they love each other, he changes back and in the morning she leaves him because for some reason she thinks she can never have a home with him.
This story had so much potential!! I'm so sad that this series turned out to be a let down. The ideas and concepts are wonderful. I love the white tiger idea. But the writing and editing make for such a lack of continuity that I had a hard time finishing this series. Reading these books on kindle unlimited for free was the only reason I didn't abandon. Creative idea! Wonderful story. But one thing might not be true from one sentence to the next. Ditch your editor and keep writing! xoxo
I can’t believe so few people have reviewed this book! It’s SO good! I sort of want to cry right now because the ending is so TRAGIC. Sort of. Nobody dies, don’t worry. I NEED to read the next book. This one was so sweet, exciting, and crazy! Sometimes, these werewolf books can be poorly written and very cheesy, but this one was neither. I am LOVING this author right now and I am so excited to read the next book!
SIMPLY AMAZING!!! OMG! Wow! Talk about one intense installment. No holds barred, no pulling punches, no turning back. If you're looking for an action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, nailbiting, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning dynamo that's as riveting as it is captivating. Congrats my friends you've found it. All the drama, fear, mystery, danger and suspense increases steadily as the tension spirals while the plot thickens. When your back is against the wall not knowing friend from for you have to trust your own instincts. With twists and turns, ups and downs, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises around every corner make for one thrilling experience. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it really makes the storyline pop. This is one series you do not want to miss. Lena did a remarkable job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Lena, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
This is the second book in the Girl Among Wolves Series therefore, if you have read the first book I would strong urge you to do so.
Stella's life is in absolute chaos - she doesn't know who or what to trust. She starts questioning everything, even herself. Her dysfunctional family has kept so many secrets about her identity and prevented her from being who she is. She has tough decisions to make and a bumpy ride ahead - which choices will she make? What paths will she choose?
What an amazing second instalment! I felt sorry for Stella; her life is one big lie and her family didn't help by keeping her in the dark. My heart broke for Harmon - his love for Stella echoed faintly throughout but it's his blind love for his undeserving pack that really got me. Stella's on a journey to self discovery but will her love for Harmon fade or grow stronger?
Such a great story. Stella went from one imprisonment to another. She learns more about Harmon and develops a sort of friendship with him while the two are stuck in a basement together. He has been injured so badly he is unable to shift. As a consequence he is stuck halfway between human and wolf, hence the beastly part of the book. However, Stella eventually learns all about the deception and lies she has lived with all her life. Those who were supposed to love her as a child growing up were not who they seemed. I was glad that she finally found out who she really is and was able to find her strength of character to be what she was always meant to be. So now we come to the slight cliffhanger at the end. But I’m so enjoying this series that I’m glad I still have more to look forward to reading.
I loved this second installment in Stella's story. I loved getting so many questions answered and finding out the big secret Stella's parents are really hiding fro her. I've been on the fence about Harmon this entire time and this makes it even harder still to decide about him. I still can't figure him out or anyone else really and I only know that I like Stella. I really do love the aspect of not knowing who to trust or even who to believe on anything. This just makes the story all the more intriguing to me. Even with all the mystery and deception from everyone I'm still loving this story and I can't wait to find out more in book 3.
Yep, no doubt about it. This is a serial gripper, Intense and addictive. I was scared, apprehensive and totally engrossed with the turn of events for this human taken and dumped in a hostile wolf pack. Book 1 is a must read first that will blow your mind with how it all started for this soft hearted girl suffering from the loss of her beloved father.
I loved watching the relationship between Stella and Harmon grow even more. I had an inkling of the situation before it was revealed but it was still upsetting. And I even had a clue about Stella but it was still wonderful to see. Her pain and anger bleed off the pages as I experienced it with her. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Beastly Beauty: A Beauty and the Beast Adaptation is the second book in the Girl Among Wolves Trilogy Series. We continue where book one left off with a Beauty and The Beast twist to it. A creative & well crafted fairytale that is interwoven into a unparalleled version of old fairytales with a paranormal twists. I love the white tiger concept. Character's are well seasoned, realistic & engaging. The end of this one left me with my jaw dropping. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Secrets, lies, betrayal, protection, love, the betterment of the whole and for yourself. Sixteen is too young to decide the rest of your life, even if it breaks your heart to stay true to yourself. These stories have touched me more than I thought they would!
Amazing adaptation of a fairy tale, but totally different. Loved the way the story flowed until the end. Can’t wait to read the next one by this fabulous author.
I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as the first book in the series. There were some glaring WTF moments. And there were parts that dragged. Still going with three stars though.
The story continues but takes a Beauty and the Beast twist. I loved it as it certainly wasn't traditional. I can't wait for the next one and hopefully a HEA
