It started out really good. Lots of drama and sex and mystery. Then it goes into super speed and the timing seems off and it's just rushed. Nice epilogue.

The book ends at 20%. There are 6 other titles listed in the table of contents, but who knows if they're complete or teasers. Not taking a chance.

Finn finds himself driving in heavy snow on an isolated stretch of Hwy 77 headed for Lake Superior on a drunken dare in his new Escalade. When he passes a small cabin on fire in the woods, he stops to see if anyone is inside. What he finds is a small petite woman laying unconscious on the floor. What Finn doesn't know is that by helping her his life will change forever. When Elspeth comes to, she doesn't know who she is or wear she is, she can't remember anything about herself. Finn feels an overwhelming need to protect her while he struggles with believing her story. When they return to Chicago, Finn's home, he makes arrangements for her care & well being. But Elspeth quickly lets Finn know that she does not like being handled & wants her privacy more than anything. Finn makes a bold move to take time away from his business & to take him & Elspeth to his lake home where they can be alone. The longer they stay at the lake the closer they grow to one another but when a work problem takes Finn back to Chicago things fall apart for Finn both professionally & personally. Elspeth remembers who she is & that she is pregnant & runs from the life Finn wants to provide for her. Will Finn be able to find Elspeth? How will Elspeth be able to put the pieces of her life back together again? Are Finn & Elspeth destined to be together?

In this new romance by Kira Blakely you have a man who doesn't trust easily & a young woman who has no clue as to who she is. It is a beautifully written story about getting close to someone & learning to break down the walls that keep a person isolated from love. Finn & Elspeth path is far from simple for either of them but they learn that opening your heart to love is a destination worth traveling to. This book is meant for mature readers.

This reading slump has me so far buried down the hole that I can't seem to find my way out. Last night I bought this book because the blurb intrigued me. Gave it a try and by the time I got to 4% into the book, I stopped reading and returned it for a refund. The little I read was beyond ridiculous. Let me count the ways...

1. Hero was dared by his buddies to drive his Escalade from Chicago to Michigan to prove that his Escalade could make it through the snowstorm in Michigan. Not only did he have to drive there, he had to send a letter/postcard/something with a postmark from Michigan proving he got there and sent it from there.

2. He passes an old cabin that is on fire on a deserted road and stops to see if anyone needs help.

3. Heroine is unconscious on the cabin floor. Hero picks her up, throws her over his shoulder and walks outside with her where he proceeds to do his version of CPR (that he learned from watching TV.)

4. Heroine is revived and hero takes her to his Escalade, tells her she needs to take her clothes off because her clothes are soaked and while she's doing that, he's going to get them out of there.

5. His pretty new Escalade is now stuck in the snow and refuses to budge.

6. Hero gets back in the back seat with the heroine and proceeds to take his clothes off because his are also soaked and gets under the blanket with the heroine to conserve body heat.

7. Somehow he discovers the heroine has a bump on the back of her head but heroine has no idea what happened, has no idea what her name is, doesn't remember why she was at the cabin. Hero tells her not to worry, they'll figure things out.

8. The close quarters in the back seat lead to them having unprotected sex where afterwards the hero again tries to get the truck to move. No luck.

9. Heroine, while she can't remember anything, does remember how to build a fire so someone can see the smoke and come look for them to help them out.

10. Cop shows up not long after that and tells them he didn't see the smoke from "their" fire but saw the smoke from the burning cabin near them and came to investigate.

11. Cop helps them get back on the road and they leave.

12. On the drive back to Chicago, hero remembers the bump on heroine's head and tells her not to fall asleep. Heroine tells him to leave her alone. Hero proceeds to pull her over to his side of the truck, while he's driving, and starts feeling her up and she starts moaning in pleasure so he keeps it up. *rolling eyes*

13. He's still driving when I get to this part of the book ...

"She threw her left leg onto the dash and her right over the back of the seat—now openly splayed in our dimly lit bedroom on wheels."

Which made me pause because....how is this possible? She's in the passenger seat of the truck. How is it possible for her to do this to give him "better access?"

14. I keep reading because I just assume the author mixed up her left and right leg in the above passage. I'm at 3% in the book so far.

15. After he pleasures her, while he's driving and while she's contorting her body in ways I can't even picture, I get to this next scene where she gives him a BJ. Again, he was still driving so the beginning of the BJ is her bent over his lap while still sitting in the passenger seat. At one point he stops the truck along the side of the road, pushed his seat all the way back, and we get this little gem...

"I increased the pace and could hear his abrupt cries as he caught the wave. I was rewarded with a stream of white cream that ran down my chin and dripped onto my own bared p*ssy."

Again. She's still in her seat, she's bent over him. How is the dripping happening?

I decided then and there to get off the crazy train I was riding and returned this book for a refund. She still didn't know who she was, beyond the necklace she wore that said "Elspeth" on it.

All of this craziness happened within the first 4% of the book.

Nope, no thanks. I'm out.

Protecting Her is my favorite Kira Blakely book so far! Her books get better each time, so I can’t wait for her next book. This book is steamy, romantic and a little mysterious.

Finn is driving his car on a deserted road when he sees a shack burning. He stops his car and saves a woman from the burning shack. When he carries the woman to his car and tries to drive away, he realizes that his car is stuck in the snow. When the woman wakes up, she doesn’t remember anything. Finn thinks her name is Elspeth since she wears a necklace with that name. He does everything he can to keep Elspeth warm and to survive. When they are found, Finn can’t let Elspeth leave and he takes her home with him.

I liked Finn and Elspeth a lot! Finn is a rich and successful businessman who works hard and loves his job. He always gets what he wants. He’s very protective over Elspeth from the start. He does everything he can to keep her safe. Finn likes Elspeth and loves to be with her. Elspeth is alone and scared, but she feels safe with Finn. She trusts him. Elspeth knows what she likes and she isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind to Finn. She’s feisty and strong.

This book was close to being a 5 star read for me, but I wasn’t happy with some small things. What happened in the car at the beginning was too soon for me. They hadn’t spoken to each other then and it gave me a wrong idea about Finn. Also, Finn and Elspeth were apart too long at the end and I wouldn’t have been as forgiving as Finn was.

-- My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book. --

Protecting Her was a Billionaire Baby Romance by Kira Blakely. It was my first book by the author.

Finn was was an elite socialite billionaire with a healthy ego. The storyline opened with him accepting a dare that put his life in danger but where he simultaneously stumbled upon Elspeth, ultimately saving her life. Elspeth was a mystery that unraveled as the storyline progressed.

The plot was a mixture of two separate suspenseful storylines, which ultimately wound into one. The first, an amnesia - attempted murder bit of mystery. The second centered around Finn’s business. And both came with loads of sex.

I liked the direction of the storyline but some of the details needed fleshing out. I craved additional depth. No spoilers so no elaboration, but a couple of the key mysteries ended quickly with gaps that I desired filled in. Otherwise, it was a well written and intriguing story.

Protecting her by Kira Blakely a fierce and feisty five star read. I adore Kira Blakely and I have major lady boner for her, so I was so excited to hear about this new release, and I can honestly say I think this is the best book yet. The prologue made the whole book, it was a great story and the sex was amazing!!
Finn Tremaine is a businessman from Chicago he has a great life, he’s rich, handsome and unmarried and can have whomever he likes. When his buddies bet him at a party one night it starts as a joke and ends up being something that will change his life. While driving into a snow storm to win the bet he sees a cabin on fire and stops to see if anyone needs help, what he finds will change everything.
Elsbeth wakes up at the side of the road, cold and with a strange man, knowing nothing but feeling very right. Elsbeth is lead on a journey and will she like what she finds when she gets there?
If you read one book, make this the book you read. It won’t disappoint.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

From the very first page, I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with. When reading the story, it may make you feel sad, confused, appalled, and even euphoric. What moves me is just how Kira Blakely was able to make the characters’ situations seem credible and realistic—their hurts, ambivalence, etc. Finn Tremaine, an alpha billionaire who is handsome and sexy, was dared by his friends to drive through the blizzard warning in his fancy SUV to another city before Noon the next day—Finn took the challenge. With friends like that, who needs enemies! While driving on a deserted snowy road that was below zero, Finn saw a fire at a shack where he rescued a woman from the fire, and that when he was lost. Elspeth does not know who she is or where she came from, but the chemistry between the two is getting really sultry. Who left Elspeth for dead and why? Why was Elspeth at the shack and with whom? Will Elspeth be able to gain her memory back? Is Elspeth the intended victim or not? Can Finn trust Elspeth? These and other questions are the start of their flight and why Finn felt he needed to protect her. The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. This storyline is full of mystery, romance, and intrigue that it will pique your interest and draw you in from the beginning to the very end. So do yourself a favor and buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

I actually gave this book another chance after the first failed attempt. However, the second attempt was worse than the first, it was just too cheesy and I hate insta-romances. I understand that most books like this are bestsellers, it seems like the more erotic books are mad, the more money that is going in the author pockets. I am not knocking down the hustle but can we at least be original? I am so tired of reading through all of these sex crazed books without any characterization. Just what the hell are you protecting her from? Is it the guys that are crazy about her? Is it her scorned past? Oh forget it..

Sometimes I wonder why I gave books like this a second attempt, I knew it was not going to go anywhere after reading the initial chapters.

I needed 'protection' from how boring and dense was..

UGHHHH!!

Another book that bites the dust, ground and cement!

3.5 stars for me, I am just going to go into this review with that. There was some scene that happen that I think needed to be worked on. I enjoyed the blurb and and purchased it and dived right in. I was little put off car scene ( not to have any spoilers) and I was afraid I might stop. BUT I kept going, and I really started to enjoy it. I enjoyed Finn's protectiveness and his heavy hand with her. But I loved Elspeth's strong will power and knowing that she isn't what he thinks she is. It was all well until the whole Jerry, Leigh and the pissing on the floor and etc..it just seemed like it didn't fit. I mean I know it had to be in there but I just didn't like how it was placed. Then Neeanh never gets what coming to her, I mean I at lease wanted her to be reprimanded or maybe at lease have Finn put her in her place. The book feel apart for me after the Jerry, Leigh, Neeanh part. I wish it was written differently , or maybe with some things taken out. Overall it is a good story, plot, love and romance on point. Would I read from this author again , yes... I like what she has coming out of her head.

Protecting Her is a fantastic book! I was hooked from the very first page until I reached the end. It is very well written. I fell in love with Elspeth and loved how Finn took care of her and found ways to make her comfortable even when he had some doubts. I will be recommending this book to others and will be re-reading it in the future.

Really quite disappointed in this story. The idea was a good one it just didn't come together right. All the characters were wishy washy and didn't seem to have fixed personalities. Most of the interactions were weird and uncomfortable. Even though I read the whole story, I wasn't very far into it before I started to not really care what happened.

This is the first novel I've read by Kira Blakely, and while it was a relatively enjoyable read, I wasn't in love with the novel and I give it 3 stars.

Finn, a billionaire, is driving to Michigan's Upper Peninsula during a blizzard on a bet, when he sees an old shack on the deserted road and it's on fire. When he sees footsteps in the snow, he enters the blazing cabin and finds Elspeth unconscious on the floor. He carries her to the safety of his SUV, and she regains consciousness but has no idea who she is, has no ID, no driver's license, no handbag--only the the clothes she's wearing. Finn only knows her name because she's wearing an identity necklace that bears her name. In addition to not knowing who she is, she has no idea how she got there (no other cars in sight) or why she has a rather large bump on the back of her head. During the rescue, the snow has really piled up and now the SUV is stuck. Trying to keep them both alive is Finn's next task, and since they both got soaked as Finn attempted to revive Elspeth in the snow, they need to strip down and share body heat, which, of course, leads to the inevitable sex scene in the stranded vehicle. Yes, the scene is sexy, but it's also ill advised, and it didn't endear me to Finn, who should have had the decency not to accost a woman who might be married, who might have a concussion, and whom he knows nothing about.

When they are finally towed back to the highway by a state trooper, and Finn finally finds a phone he calls his assistant, Leigh, and starts issuing orders, including sending his private jet, with his friend, Dr. Pete Harper aboard, and a change of clothing for himself and the girl, and he tries to keep Elspeth awake, fearing a concussion, and how does he do that--more sex, again. While I have nothing against sex between consenting adults, these two are total strangers, Elspeth has amnesia and a possible concussion, and, of course, does anyone even think of using a condom? No. And that holds true for the rest of the book. You'd think Finn would be smarter than that.

From that point on, Finn takes charge of Elspeth, moving her into his Chicago penthouse apartment in the luxury building he owns and which also houses his business offices. He orders a complete wardrobe for Elspeth, a full-time nurse, and starts an investigation into her identity. Elspeth has a gut feeling this is not the life she's used to, but without any other options, she doesn't have much choice. Eventually, Finn takes time off, and installs them both in his very private, very posh lake house, where their relationship continues.

So, we have mystery, a romance, and secrets to discover, all of which are dealt with in a rather controlling fashion by Finn, who, even though he knows nothing about Elspeth, totally falls for her, and yes, there's a lot more drama to come before the inevitable HEA ending, As an avid romance reader, I'm well aware of the fantasy trope of being rescued by a handsome billionaire, as if they just grow on trees, but I was somewhat put off by Finn--his assumptions, his doubts and even his paranoia as to Elspeth possibly being a plant working for the mob, and, although at first he backs off his sexual aggressiveness, it's not long before he and Elspeth resume that relationship, even though she feels guilty for taking advantage of his kindness. Again, no attempt at safe sex.

While Elspeth was a very likable character, I was far less impressed with Finn as the prince in this Cinderella story, and I would have loved to know more of his history, how he became a billionaire, and why he feels that no other woman he's ever met or been involved with in the past, and there have been many, simply don't measure up to Elspeth.

If you are just reading for pure entertainment, this novel is fairly well-written, with good pacing and an interesting, although familiar, plot. But when you start to examine it in detail, this storybook billionaire fantasy loses some of its luster, and the improbabilities become almost impossible to ignore.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this novel and received no compensation for doing so. The opinions expressed are my own.

Very disappointing given the high ratings

Weak, undeveloped characters, weak storyline, too many easy conveniences, and immature writing left a lot to be desired. I don't think the author matured past a teenage mentality. If the author focused detail on the characters rather than spending so much time on the superficiality of what money can provide, the book would have been marginally better. There was very poor plot development, simplistic solutions to problems, and too many coincidences in this book to be convincing or enjoyable. I will not read this author again. Just a terrible read.

A drunken bet, turns into a dangerous road trip through a blizzard, turns into a rescue mission? And that’s just the start of this adventure!

I love Kira Blakely books because they are a bit different from the norm. Her billionaires have depth and heart that I don’t always see in other romances and there is always an interesting and exciting storyline to go along with the sexy love story.

On top of the steamy romance in this book, there are the two major mysteries to be solved. How did Elspeth end up alone in a burning shack with no ID and what seems to be amnesia? Is Elspeth really the unwitting victim here and can Finn really trust her?

As a billionaire and the CEO of his own company, Finn has plenty of reasons to be cautious around new people. Competitors willing to do anything for an edge and women looking for a sugar daddy keep him on his toes and makes him reluctant to trust easily.

For some reason though, he immediately feels protective of Elspeth and his alpha instincts kick in. He not only wants to save her life, but he wants to help her get her life back. Finn just hopes that once she remembers her past, Elspeth wants to keep him as a part of her future.

Sexy, sweet and suspenseful with a splash of corporate shenanigans and a secret baby. Add to that, a man who is learning to value what really matters in life and a woman who is re-discovering herself and you’ll find that you’ve got a really captivating story. Loved it!

Standalone. No Cliffhanger. HEA.

This is a wonderful story about a billionaire who has been dared to do something crazy and ends up finding a beautiful young woman who is unconscious in a blizzard in a shack on the side of the road that's engulfed in flames. Finn is against the clock as they are both close to hypothermia and needs to strip them both and get dry and warm by cuddling naked! Finn finds a necklace on her with the name Elspeth and when she wakes nake in his arms they are off to him protecting her and her not having any memories. There is an immediate and undeniable attraction between them and they make love laying there in the cold and they each have feelings for one another they keep to themselves. Finn has an immediate need to protect and to possess her and Elspth feels safe and secure without any memories. The story resolves around doing what can be done to help Elspeth feel safe and time to recover her memory and Finn goes beyond what any stranger would do. I must say Elspeth broke my heart when she reacted the way she did with her memory coming back but in the end she feels she is doing what she needs to for herself. In the end Elspeth discovers what she is made of and a place where she belongs and is given the most unbelievable gift from a woman who has only showed her love and kindness. Finn is faced with his business having some problems that are just crazy! He seems to recover but loses himself and one strong message helps him get back to being the man he can be! He is a man that seems to be a bit controlling but it's all from a place of caring and pure love. He is a wonderful man full of love that he wants to share. Protecting Her
By Kira Blakely
Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

Rich and handsome playboy, Finn Tremaine, finds himself driving into blizzard conditions on a bet from his friends. While on his trip he notices a hunting shack on fire that had footprints going in, but none coming out. He parks his car and runs to the shack to find a beautiful petite woman inside, unconscious. He takes her back to his car to discover a huge bruise on the back of her head and to find out that she has amnesia. He quickly warms up to his role as Elspeth’s protector and tries to discover whatever he can about her, but he wouldn’t be too upset if she never recovered her memories.

Wow, it’s been quite a while since I’ve read a book I disliked this much. It started out pretty badly. Finn saves Elspeth’s life to then take advantage of her in the backseat of his Escalade. He then skips taking her to a local hospital to instead take her back to Chicago with him and hordes her away in his own building. I had hoped the book would improve from there, but it never really did.

And, the stuff that happened when Finn left his lake house to go back to work didn’t make a lot of sense to me and happened way too quickly for me to follow completely. It was also pretty unbelievable that when Elspeth disappeared he couldn’t find her for over a year, but was able to find her mother later on as a surprise.

I also found it strange that at the end of the last chapter it says ‘the end’ but then goes into a rather lengthy epilogue.

There were several other stories included in this ebook as bonus material, but this story was so bad, I couldn’t bring myself to read them.

Finn is a rich businessman visiting friends. They bet his new car won't get him up through the Upper Pennisula and back in two days. Finn is drunk enough to take the bet. While driving he gets caught in a snow storm. Driving slowly, he sees a shack by the road on fire. There are tracks leading to the shack so he runs in hoping to save anyone inside. He finds Elspeth unconscious with a hea wound. She was wearing a necklace with her name on it. When she regains consciousness, she has no memories of who she was or what happened to her. Finn wants to help her but they are stuck in the snow. They spend several hours in the car together and are both really attracted to each other. When the police rescue them Finn is so protective of Elspeth he doesn't tell them the truth. He arranges for them to return back to the city and arranges everything that Elspeth might need. He even has a PI trying to find out who she is.
Elspeth is lost with no identity or idea who might have hurt her. Finn is so kind to her it is hard to believe that they just met. To her it feels like they have been together for ever. As she heals from her head wound she starts to fell uncomfortable. All the wealth he has and the money he spends is just too much. However she has nowhere to go and even dangerous to go out on her own. Her feelings for Finn keep growing
This is a great book about a girl in trouble and her knight in shining armor. Finn is a busy business man but Elspeth turns his life upside down in ways he never expected. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I really loved the main characters of Finn and Elspeth.
Finn is driving through a snow storm on a dare and sees a cabin burning. he goes to see if anyone needs help and finds Elspeth unconscious.
As the two get stuck in his car in the snowstorm they think of ways to keep warm - besides using blankets.
When Elspeth can't remember who she is or anything about herself Finn makes it his mission to help her figure out what happened to her. His connection to her is immediate.
Elspeth is a woman who is unsure of everything since she can't remember anything. While she feels safe in Finn's arm she does not feel comfortable with him spending a great deal of money on her. She knows that she is not from his wealthy world.
Finn takes her away to his cabin and it is while there that she finally remembers via dreams/nightmares who she is and how she came to be in the cabin. She also realizes that Finn is way way out of her league.
While Finn is taking care of business Elspeth leaves and strikes out on her own to prove she can survive on her own even though she loves Finn dearly.
Can these two find each other again? or was it a fluke they came together?
The reader will fall for these two and will root for Elspeth as she tries to build a life for herself.
The epilogue wraps everything up nicely and gives the reader a nice view of this HEA. I am also glad the scene that was deleted was deleted because it just didn't seem like Finn.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Elspeth and Finn Tremaine. Finn is out on a dare to prove that his new Escalade can make it to Lake Superior before the blizzard hits. That proves to be untrue but he does find a building on fire and a girl unconscious inside. She doesn't know her name and there is something about her that make him want to protect her. For all he knows she is just someone here to hurt him and his business. However for all his ideals he can't seem to be able to walk away from the girl. What will happen however when Elspeth gets her memory back? How will he handle things if he ever does lose her?

Elspeth is a woman without a past or at least that seems to be the case. She doesn't know what she is running from or running to but she knows she feels safest when she is with Finn. However there is something about all of his wealth that makes her want to ruin for the hills. She wonders not only what she is running from in her past but what is it about Finn that makes her feel so safe? Can she answer these questions and if she does will they lead her loser to Finn or farther away?

This is an amazing book about two people who are looking to fix something in themselves that they didn't know was broken to begin with. There are some major twists and turns that I really want to tell you about but don't want to ruin it for any other reader. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Finn takes a dare that leads him trapped in the snow with his car. What he doesn't expect to find is a woman freezing to death in a cabin on fire. What is even crazier is that he manages to rescue her and lead her to safety. What is the craziest part of this ordeal? She can't remember her name, how she got there, or really anything. But Finn decides to a knight in shining armor and takes her to his place. Did I forget to mention that Finn is a rich business man with money at his disposal. What is even scarier is can they even trust each other? He isn't sure if she is lying and after him. Elspeth isn't even sure if she knows him from the past and who attacked her. What good will this lead to? What is going to happen when they get answers? Is it going to ugly? Is it a dark past? Who knows if that'll even happen? If not, what are they supposed to do? Can they trust each other? Y'all should read to find out!!!

This is an interesting book. I've never really heard of a plot like this. It is intriguing trying to unravel her past if she actually regains anything. Like Finn, we're trying to figuring out the pieces to her. Then there is also another mysterious element with Finn and his business. His private investigator ended up dead too. So there are all these unknown elements happening between Elspeth and Finn. I just think it was interesting to see how everything raveled together.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

Finn was dared to drive through the blizzard in his "fancy Cadillac" to Lake Superior and back before noon. While on his drive through the blizzard he noticed some footprints to a shack, and that it was on fire. He couldn't just keep driving and not stop and check it out. He found Elspeth laying on the floor unconscious inside. He was able to rescue her, but by the time he made it back to his Escalade it was stuck and they were soaked from the snow. She eventually awoke, but couldn't remember anything. They were eventually rescued and he didn't want her to leave his side, so he took her home with him.
Finn took Elspeth back to Chicago where he had his business, but knew he couldn't keep her there since there would be too many questions. So they took off for the lake house, until he felt like he could leave her for a period of time. Finn and Elspeth had quite a relationship filled with love but never conveyed since Elspeth still didn't have her memory.
Finn had to take off back to Chicago to his business and when he got back it was in bigger trouble than he realized. Elspeth got her memory back, and realized that she was pregnant. She didn't want to relive the past so she took off.
More twists and turns to unfold ❤️

Wow! If I was a fan of Kira's before, I am definitely blown away with Protecting Her. I was sucked in from the very first page all the way to the end! Elspeth and Finn captured me from the start and couldn't get enough of them.

Finn is at the right place at the wrong time when he's driving through a blizzard in Michigan. He spots a burning shack and goes to check to see if anyone needs help, even when he's questioning himself all the way. Luckily he finds the unconscious gorgeous Elspeth and helps her out, only to finds that she doesn't know who she is.
After Elspeth came back to, the only familiar thing to her is Finn. She doesn't know who he is but knows she feels safe.
Finn being paranoid himself questions everything about the gorgeous woman who has gotten under his skin. But no matter how much he questions her past or motives, he can't help feel territorial and protective of her. He will find out who wants her dead and will make them pay...
What happens when her memory is back? Will it finally set Elspeth's mind free or will it threaten what her and Finn have built?
Protecting Her gets my definite 5 stars! Not only do I recommend this story, but tell you it's a must read. You will be hooked and asking for more. This is a standalone with HEA that is super easy to follow and hard to put down!

SPOILERS INCLUDED IN THIS REVIEW. Stop reading now if you don't want to see them.

This was an okay book. It started off with Finn saving Elsbeth's life when he finds her unconscious in a burning cabin. She doesn't know who she is or how she got there. Feeling an immediate attraction and protectiveness towards Elsbeth, Finn moves her in with him and does everything he can to help her regain her memory. They become intimate very quickly and fall for each other.

I was fine with the book up to this point, then Elsbeth makes a selfish decision that thoroughly pissed me off. I do not like women who choose to keep such a life altering event a secret. It's selfish and although the story doesn't specify a time frame, it's apparent it was at least close to a year, if not longer, before they're reunited again. And had Finn not kept looking, Elsbeth would have never gone back to him. Finn deserved so much more. He made it clear he wanted her and he never gave her any reason to doubt his sincerity. I thought she should have apologized or groveled or something! I mean the chick even thought about marrying someone else at some point when she still had this huge secret that she hadn't told Finn about. No! Just no!

I purchased this book from Amazon but it's no longer available so I'm unable to leave a review there also.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

The premise of Protecting Her is unique - a billionaire stumbles upon and rescues a beautiful amnesiac during a blizzard. Of course, they have to strip down and cuddle naked to avoid hypothermia! And it's off to the races from there. Finn (the billionaire) and Elspeth (the amnesiac) obviously feel an immediate draw to each other and the overwhelming sense of protection and possession that he feels towards her was interesting. The story stays engaging from beginning to end predominantly due to the tension caused by wondering when Elspeth is going to regain her memory, as well as the curiosity of how she'll react once she knows who she is. While some might see Finn as overbearing, I thought he was sweet, caring, and protective of Elspeth - and I was truly sad when they hit the major bump in the road towards their HEA. I think he was my favorite part of the book (I just love a man in love). There were quite a few unexpected plot twists that really added to the suspense of the story and served to really round out the arc of the main characters. While I didn't like this one as much as Faking For Her or Beauty and the Billionaire (the other two Kira Blakely books that I've read and loved), but I did really enjoy it.
