The Warrior is a collection of twenty-five delicate war poems. The book delineates many aspects of warrior’s life. In some poems, author maintains an ironic tone. The simplicity of individual words may be elusive. In some poems, author belittles the role of the poet. He has voiced his opinion about war by writing poem averse to war. The first poem tells about man’s intention to slaughter contemporary man, a feeling of anger, and frustration. The poem two questions on warrior’s death. Poem three and poem 4, delineates a death of warrior’s life. Analogously, poems five and six deal with types of war and selfless desire to live an ordinary warrior’s life, while seven and eight delineates story of two warrior boys and cajoles for change. In short, these poems may be very simple but they may also emanate to be most eminent and poignant poems on war.
There were several good poems in this book. Mr. Kalwar is writing poems from difficult subject and manage to give different point of views to the readers. Worth of reading and makes you think.
