I read the first three books in this series but this first one was my favorite. The rest were probably unavailable in Turkey. Whatever. The whole vibe in general is very similar to Scooby Doo by the way.

Ha, what a plast from the past.
Ich habe die Knickerbocker Bande als Kind ja voll geliebt und den ersten Band eigentlich nur zum Einstieg in Brezina's allerneuestes Werk "Alte Geister ruhen unsanft" nochmal gelesen.
Das war seit langem wieder ein deutschsprachiges Buch, der Umstieg war nicht ganz so leicht. Am meisten haben mich die kurzen Sätze aus dem konzept gebracht. lach.

Es war ganz ok, aber die meiste Zeit hab ich mir nur gedacht, wo sind eigentlich die Eltern der Kinder?

Thomas Brezina's 'Rätsel um das Schneemonster' is my next German read of the year.

My friend Bernie found out I was reading children's books in German to improve my language skills. The kind soul he is, he donated a small library's worth of kids' books to me in my quest to speak the language. My first pick from these stacks of books was Brezina's first Kinckerbocker-Bande book.

People have told me that these books mix Scooby-Doo with Austrian culture. And, what's more, Brezina wrote these books in German. R. L. Stine's Goosebumps books need translation, which sometimes makes for odd wording.

'Rätsel um das Schneemonster' follows the kids as they meet for the first time. Each child has won a drawing contest, drawing them together for the awards ceremony. But the man running the competition seems odd. And there are reports of a monster on the ski slopes of Tirol. The children investigate, like Mystery Inc in Scooby Doo. The plot is more complex, and the peril is sometimes more significant.

I found the German in Brezina's book a bit trickier than in the Goosebumps books, but still manageable. Plus, increasing the difficulty to aid the learning process is good practice. Yet, that doesn't mean I've moved on from Goosebumps. One thing I missed about Stine's work was his monsters were real and not a man in a mask.

I can say that I enjoyed 'Rätsel um das Schneemonster' and look forward to reading more of Brezina's work.

Was für ein toller Start der Buchreihe! In meiner Kindheit war es eines der letzten Knickerbocker die ich gelesen habe, da es lange in meiner Bibliothek vergriffen war. Darum habe ich es auch nur einmal gelesen und der Inhalt war mir nicht mehr in Erinnerung.

Ich liebe die verschiedenen Orte, die besucht werden, es liest sich teilweise wie ein Reiseführer von Tirol, man hat richtig Lust dort hinzufahren.

Lol die 1990er 🤣:

... ,,Prosit Neujahr!“ riefen einander die Kinder zu. Tilly  zog eine kleine Flasche Sekt aus der Manteltasche und  öffnete sie mit einem zischenden Knall. Alle nahmen  einen tüchtigen Schluck. 
,,Das kitzelt am Gaumen“, kicherte Poppi...​

Čítala som pred spaním synovi, on dáva 5, ja len 4 hviezdičky. Príbeh fajn, aj vystupňovanie a vylúštenie záhady, ale štýl sa mi moc nepáčil, bolo tam veľa skokov z jedného miesta na iné, ktoré mi prišli nelogické a nasilu. Čítali sme v češtine a zistila som, že v slovenčine sa hlavní hrdinovia volajú úplne inak. Ale 8r synovi sa páčila, to je dôležité.
