His Lordship's Downfall: Part One

Rate this book
With profound apologies to Jane Austen, who through no fault of her own inspired this tale of outrageous contemporary romance. Although M/F, monogamous and HEA, this story is far more daring than any I’ve written before. Graphic language, brazen misbehavior and the use of unconventional devices for intimate purposes are only a few of its many sins. Lord Adrian Burleigh is a devilishly handsome British lord with a taste for very naughty sex. In his world--where a modern-day British Empire still rules most of the globe--there are no limits for a man of such wealth and power. His privileged life is comfortable, controlled and predictable. Until, that is, he decides to acquire a “pet”. Early on, the reader is likely to conceive a desire to do terrible things to Lord Adrian despite--or because of--his wicked appeal. Rest assured, this very badly behaved lord will receive his just deserts as he crosses paths with the daring young woman who is at once his downfall and his salvation.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review...

It was a strange mix of Victorian and modern times. An arranged marriage to a second cousin in an obvious aristocratic class system had a very Victorian feel, but it was completely undermined by the use of cars and technology (not just simple tech but body modification tech). I didn't know what to think...
Getting past the who and the when, I was on to the what, and this is a whole lot of sex. Lord Adrian purchases his pet because he's bored, and he hates his wife. He has many sadistic plans for her, but through all of them, he believes it's extremely important that he maintain control. "Man must rule over woman or the natural order of the Universe would fall to ruin." As he becomes more and more enamored with his pet, he also becomes more and more convinced that she must have some strange power over him, which in turn, makes him want to subjugate her even more.
It was mostly sex mixed with some creative punishments, but there was always that undercurrent of something more--some power she had that could bring him to his knees if left unchecked.
Then comes the end. I don't generally mind cliffhangers. I'm not a huge fan, but if I know going into it that it's part of a series, then I'm not all out against them. That being said, there's a difference between ending on a cliffhanger and what Josie Litton did in this book. The last sentence in this book is, "Instead he saw..."
That's it. A cliffhanger, by definition, is an ending that leaves the audience in suspense--keyword there being ENDING. There is no end here, just an incomplete sentence, and that aggravates me to no end.
Still, the writing was good with very few errors to be found, and until the ending I was entertained, so three stars.

On the surface, this book could be summed up as one seriously intense, kinky fuckfest between a master and slave (who have entered into a mutually consensual, contractual arrangement for said fuckfest). But it's actually so much more than an erotic tale of depravity and sadism!

This is a story about a man finding his own humanity through his torment of a woman who is viewed within the aristocratic caste system of Litton’s world as a virtual inhuman non-entity.

Litton’s writing is technically flawless, her story line well crafted and thought provoking. But the real genius to me is in all the ways that she casually exploits our poor clueless Lordship, using him to showcase that ugly, relentless inner frailty that drives all true sadist dominants. I rather enjoyed the ongoing subtle power shift between the H and h—particularly, watching the H grow increasingly terrified of the chained woman he would only refer to as his “pet”.

Litton credits the work of Jane Austen as inspiration, but there’s some heavy underlying existentialism and absurdism to be found within this text. I feel like if Austen had lived about a century later and had engaged in a total power exchange relationship with a sadist Franz Kafka, this is pretty much how things might’ve gone down (minus a few convenient, kinky futuristic sexual devices). In any case, I like to think Jane Austen would approve.

4.5 dark, twisted, stunning stars to Josie Litton's His Lordship's Downfall: Part One.

I'm a newly acquired fan of Josie Litton's, but now that I've found her, I want to devour all her books in one sitting. As always, Litton has a way of weaving beautiful words with a compelling, edgy story that isn't for everyone. She mentions that this is her darkest story yet, and I truly think she shines brightest when she's delving into this world. Such stunning writing style paired with such rich, developed characters -- her work is an absolute delight.

I found the main character, our fiendish Lord, to be appropriately terrible, but in a way you can connect with him. Given his social standing, the laws of the time (set in the (not so?) distant future where Britain and Japan control the whole world), the status of his "pet", and his innate interest in bondage, humiliation, and sadism, you can really see why he acts and thinks as he does. Every delightfully wicked thought made perfect sense to me, no matter how twisted or disgusted I felt regarding said thought personally.

What I also loved was that the heroine, his pet, barely said more than fifty words in this whole piece, but she was, to me, a wonderfully developed and interesting character in her own right. I look forward to seeing her role expanded upon in the follow-up book.

Speaking of which... Although the book is very sexual, there is an underlying plot that, once it gets going, you can't turn away from. For a while, I found things a bit repetitive: go to London, intense sex scene, go to London, another intense sex scene. But when the subplot started to surface, when the politics between the Lord and his wife arose, well... I couldn't read it fast enough. Never mind that the sex scenes, while explicit and frequent, were varied enough to keep my attention, but the rest of the story... Well, that made my heart race too.

Some warnings. This is extremely explicit. There is dubious consent in play. Detailed bondage scenes. I don't think this is for the faint of heart, and readers unfamiliar with darker works should heed the warning and go in with their eyes open. There is also a major, major cliffhanger. That being said, I am pleased that this story will (hopefully) be told in two parts. Yes, it can be frustrating to have a book broken up into smaller pieces, BUT I think Litton has provided enough of a read here that the novella is satisfying in its length.

Defintely a recommended read for those who can stomach the darker side of things. For me, this stands as erotica, not necessarily a romance, but things might change in Part Two. Can't wait!

I voluntarily (and happily) reviewed this work after receiving an ARC.

His Lordship's Downfall: Part One is pretty disturbing. It's sexy and rife with BDSM and torture, physical and mental and emotional, but it's not easy to read and I'm still not sure that I like it. I can't say that I like his lordship either, but I have a feeling that Josie Litton will change my mind about him in coming installments.

When his lordship purchases a "pet" I figured it would be a standard issue, kinky BDSM tale, and it is, but it's deeper than that. His lordship, for one, shows signs that he's not a cookie cutter sadistic, dominant man. He's got layers somewhere beneath his disgusting outer façade, and I'm eager to explore them as more parts of the story are released. But, the person who got to me the most was the pet. She's been trained to be docile and subservient, but I just know there's a whole lot more to her. I can't wait to see her bring his lordship to his knees!

Note that there are abuse triggers in this book, so be forewarned if you aren't into anything like that. Also, if you have any feminist leanings or are even just a female at all with a modern mind, then His Lordship's Downfall: Part One will have you railing in disbelief and anger like I was, still am, quite frankly, because his treatment of his pet is demeaning, derogatory, abusive and disgusting. Seriously can't wait for him to get his just desserts!

A Review of His Lordship's Downfall, Part One by Josie Litton

Lord Adrian and his Pet - 4.5 stars

I absolutely love the cover on this book! At first, I thought this book was set in the 1800s at least, but to find that it is set in modern day time was a little bit daunting to be honest. Wondering what the second book will be like.

A decadently wicked tale told in the unique style I came to love and associate with Josie Litton, the first part of this series sets the stage for the unraveling of a literary erotic adventure that will ultimately lead to his lordship’s downfall. I can’t wait to read the second installment!

I received this ARC for an honest review.

This book has a very good story line with some very unconventional sexual tools/toys. However it still kept me enthralled in the book. There is a some drama towards the end that will have you waiting for the next book. This book is about a aristocrat who has a virgin sex slave as a pet. He is married, but that doesn't stop him from playing. The deprived orgasm's for the slave have you crawling the walls for your very on release. When he finally takes her virginity during a ceremony that includes his wife the plot for revenge begins. He is finally falling for his pet and realizing he can't stand to not be around her in some way. If you are into dark unconventional romance this is the book for you. *CLIFFHANGER

I have been a fan of Josie Litton for over a decade ever since reading her Viking series.
This book...wow, it's really different from her previous books and yes, even from the Anew series.

It is M/F, monogamous and Litton has promised a HEA but hot damn, this romance novel is unlike any that I've ever read.
I simply cannot wait to read the conclusion of Lord Adrian and his 'pet'!
He's the jaded, 'been there, done that' powerful aristocrat who has decided to acquire a pet - literally a virgin who arrived in a crate (I flinched when I read this because it feels like sexual slavery to me) that will satisfy his every dark desires.
Litton crafts this book so well that it goes beyond depravity, as I read on, I feel pity for both Lord Adrian who starts to care for his 'pet' and the 'pet'.
...And I really hope Lord Adrian's downfall will be one that he deserve.

Here are my favorite quotes!

Of all the civilizations that had ever existed over the bloody, chaotic history of mankind, all but a handful were dust. Their might struck down, their achievements forgotten, nothing left but a handful of rocky ruins and a whisper on the wind.
It was, he realized, his ultimate nightmare for the empire that he loved. And it had been conjured from the mouth of a woman who gave every evidence of having the social awareness of a squid.
“What do you mean?” he demanded.
She blinked and for a moment looked confused before reverting to her normal state of self-absorption. “I have no idea. What did I say?”
“Something about a reckoning.”

“Look,” he said and drove into her again.
Closed away in the world of silk, mirrors, and cunt, he felt as though he really was in a dream. A torturous one to be sure wherein his mind and body were savagely at war. The need to come threatened to overwhelm all else but he was a man of reason, of control and discipline, and he damn well would not yield.
Not until he was convinced that his pet was thoroughly schooled and subdued.
In the dark reflections, he saw her neck arched, her mouth open, her skin flushed and glistening with their mingled sweat. Saw, too, the flicker of her eyes toward the mirror, held fast by the spectacle of herself.
Like the muse, she was a lovely, carnal object, to be used for his pleasure. But unlike the bound beauty in the exhibit, his pet did not look at herself calmly. To the contrary, he was struck by the shattered pain of her gaze.

A fevered frenzy seized them both. On the floor, against the wall, on a table, they coupled. His pet came again and again, screaming her pleasure, and he delighted in it. To bring her to such heights stoked his vaunted pride to unprecedented heights. Control was all well and good but driving a woman mad with ecstasy had a savor that cast every other sensation into dust.
At some point, someone left a tray of food outside the library doors. His lordship fetched it in himself and made certain that his pet ate. No more of that nonsense.
When she licked the remnants of a rich caper sauce from his fingers, he groaned and drew her to him once again.
She had made him insatiable. A stray thought for the danger of that went through his mind only to burn away before the fierce urgency of desire that would not be denied.

This is part one of the series and is quite a dark and sensual book. Nevertheless, it has been tastefully written and comes across as an engaging story. I personally enjoyed reading this book and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone that likes this type of genre.

Everything is exactly as it should be in Lord Adrian’s world, with the added addition of his new pet; already he feels energised, his ennui banished for the moment. She was exquisite, exactly what he had ordered, or she would be with sufficient training. Lord Adrian can do with her as he likes and the temptation to fully avail himself of that liberty at once was all but overwhelming; but that was not the proper way to train a pet. He was a peer of the realm, resolute and disciplined and his carnal appetites existed for his own pleasure; never would he be ruled by them. There were so many choices when it came to training her, but he would start with the most basic; she was his to teach, to train, to shape to his will, his alone. Lord Adrian values discipline highly but as he begins training his pet, he is startled by his own wavering control. His pet really is the perfect incarnation of all his fantasises, but that sudden realisation sends a ripple of apprehension through him; he has to remind himself she was merely his pet, a source of amusement and relaxation. He didn’t intend for there to be anything else, but he was a forthright man and he knew weakness when he encountered it, most especially in himself. If he wasn’t careful he was at risk of letting her become more; as it was he was already craving more and more of her, a reality that troubled him. Matters take an unusual turn when Lady Annabelle, his wife, comes to stay at Burleigh Abbey; she has a morbid fascination about his pet and knowing how arrogant and controlled he is, believes his pet has changed him. But the idea his pet has any sort of power over him is absurd. Having pleased him greatly, he wants to reward her with a truly memorable experience, but for that he requires the assistance of his wife and her coven. Lord Adrian is so entranced by his pet that his mind fails to perceive the warning signs, or to the depths of depravity his wife is willing to go. He has always accepted that his nature is dark, but even he had not known how far he was willing to go to achieve his deepest desires and now there would be a reckoning. Secure, smug and sated, Lord Adrian sleeps too deeply to have any premonition of the richly deserved fate that is about to descend on him; but when he awakes, something is not right and he feels shock and disbelief at what he sees. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

His Lordship’s Downfall by Josie Litton
This is not the first series I have read from Josie. Her writing style is unique in regards to the depth and complexity of the characters. Each book in the series leaves off in a good place but absolutely leaves you wanting more.
This book is definitely different from the other series by Ms. Litton. Lord Adrian Burleigh is an autocratic aristocrat who has a dark sadistic side. He decides he wants to acquire a “pet”. He is wealthy and lives a privileged life where social status drives all. In his world marriage is not for love but to gain status, there is no room for love. What are the lengths that he will go to for his own pleasure?
We are thrown into a dark world of a man driven to seek his own pleasure at all cost. The details of his depravity are explicitly detailed out in the pages of book 1. You will find yourself almost hating Lord Adrian and hoping his pet survives his sadism without irrefutable damage either mentally or physically.
He is married however they live in separate house/town/continents and most definitely have not consummated the marriage. Lady Annabelle, aka Bunny, was a marriage to bring together wealth and bloodlines. In this society it is common for husband and wife loath each other but remain together out of social obligation. How will Bunny handle the new pet? Interesting dynamic this brings to the story.
As I traveled through the pages I could see a change in Lord Adrian. The possessiveness he feels for his pet is almost touch as you move forward. There are some confusing parts that I hope will be cleared up in the next installments. You get a sense that there is another ‘power’ working against him because he feels he is being drugged and of course we don’t get answers in this book.
True to Josie’s form the ending of this book left me wondering what happened. I won’t say that we are left hanging and it was a logical break in the book so it ended well. But as I have stated I can’t wait to see what happens next.
If you are looking for a dark sadistic read that will leave you wanting to know how Lord Adrian

Erotic and provoking

A story so dark, twisted, and erotically sadistic, yet such a compelling read that you won’t want to put it down.

Lord Adrian Burleigh is the quintessential entitled aristocrat who is bored with life, so he takes up owning a “Pet.” Pet is his ideal play thing, bought for the sole purpose of his pleasure. As the relationship is consensually agreed upon by both parties of the contract, it is a fascinating notion what the core of the agreement entails because, Burleigh sure does some outrageous things to Pet that just made me mad for her. Pet is treated as a possession like any family pet who is caged, fed, and taken care of, but also required to do some humiliation play which makes her uncomfortable. Burleigh seems methodical and imaginative in his sadism, but very selfish in seeing to his Pet’s physical desires and emotional needs.

In this installment of the story, Burleigh is becoming attached to Pet, realizing there is more to the young woman. He is trying to deny any feelings for her but can’t resist the overwhelming emotions once he’s taken her innocence. Certainly, Ms. Litton paints Burleigh as the unfeeling villain, and I hope he gets his comeuppance. I’m expecting that we get Pet’s point of view in the sequel. It would be nice to know something about her and the reasons for her submission.

Ms. Litton weaves a very seductive, well written story filled with lots of naughty scenes, and a sadistic relationship unlike one I’ve read before. Throw in his egocentric wife, Annabelle, and some magic, and this story takes a life of it’s own. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Oh, My! What a delight!

WARNING!!!
This book is Not genteel.
It's not a "He swatted my bottom twice and I came!" simple rubbish.
Don't read and then complain because it has rude words, or people doing terrible things.

But DO read this book for something beyond the norm, sizzling and Kinky in so many delicious ways!

To me, it seems written in a style of a period Romance.
It seems so easy to believe that a rich head od house would simply buy a girl from a poor family, to have and use as a toy.
The difference is that it all happens here and now (or in the very near future.)
Pet had willingly sold herself into this position and has had modifications done to her (that near future thing showing) that allows her owner to sexually torment & tease her for hours or days at a time!
Josie Litton has offered us a jewel here.
I love the style. Her descriptions are rich and certainly put me in the scene. And, of course, the scenes are Nasty and HOT!
As a guy, I'd Love love to trade places with his Lordship. Although, I'd never be able to be anywhere near as cruel.
His Lordship is a sadist. As such he ever so enjoys using his Pet. Yet as their relationship progresses, he finds himself growing more crueler in his actions. Something he finds worrying.
Yet Pet seems to take it all on. All but pushing him on further & further.
Like Jack Nickolson asked in Batman, "Where does he get those toys?"
The things his Lordship uses to torment poor Pet.
Damn things must cost a fortune. But wouldn't it be grand to have a closet full of them?
This is wonderful and I cannot wait until the next book!

This book is about Lord Adrian a man with lots of power. He hates his wife but he's with her for the social and financial alliance his marriage brings him. Him and his wife loathe each other and don't live together so Lord Adrian decides to get himself a "pet". His pet is a young woman who willingly gave up control. Lord Adrian can do with her as he pleases and it pleases him to use her in many different ways. Unfortunately there might be someone with even more power than him in the shadows.

This was an interesting read. It had a "Story of O" feeling to me because the pet willingly gave up her freedom to be used as a plaything by a stranger. She never fights Lord Adrian though she is reluctant to do some things but eventually obeys. The one thing I didn't like is that the pet never has a name. I don't know why but that bothered me a little. Lord Adrian is dirty. The things he does to his pet are naughty and he seems to have fixation on anal. There was a scene in the book that i'm not sure what to make of and there are some questions left unanswered in the book because it ends on a cliffhanger. I'm curious to see what will happen in the next book.

Holy smokes this was intense! Most definitely dark and erotic!! I loved it! I cannot wait for part 2!

I'm not sure of the time period this is set in other than it saying a "modern-day British Empire still rules most of the globe", but with things such as a device to control orgasms I'm thinking this is set in the somewht near future.

Lord Adrian is the Minister for Commonwealth Affairs. His life is controlled and precisely how it should be. In order to cure his boredom he acquires a pet. Let thr training commence....

As the pets(as of the end of part one we never learn her name, she is just a pet after all) training progresses Lord Adrian finds himself more and more ensnared by his beautiful pet. Thus starts his downfall.

Floggers, horse tail anal plugs, an abundance of dildos, ropes, sexual furniture, and many other decives makes this one hot read. This isn't for everyone. If you have a problem with questionable consent (a pet does not have rights), this probably isn't for you. If you like BDSM then you need to pick this book up right away!

I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The story centers around the Lordship who obtains a pet, to fulfill his depraved BDSM fetish. The book is both high in eroticism but, at the same time, disturbing in the sense of mental & physical degradation that the pet is required to succumb to. It gives you a huge hot squirm on the sexual side, and a cold shiver on the depravity involved.

Although there is a very brief comment in the 'About this Book' page, which I must admit that I did only briefly read over before starting the book, is that although the scenario constantly places you in the image of the Victorian era or just after, all of a sudden pops up items/instruments (eg cell phone, electric stereo) that, for a moment, brings your 'reading mind' to a grinding halt.

The book does have a cliff-hanger, but the story is so good that I have already pre-ordered Part Two.

If you are interested in hot erotica, then I would certainly recommend this book.

So this is my first Josie Litton book and my goodness, this is one exceedingly hot yet there are dark aspects to this story. This is a contemporary story, yet there were certain elements that gave it a feel that it could also be a historical novel. I'm still not sure how, or if I even can, embrace Lord Adrian. He's a man of the aristocracy and works hard for his country, and although married, the marriage is more or less in name only. I will admit that there were times I cringed while reading about the interactions and "training" of his pet (I had to go back and re-read the part of about the piercings she was given prior to her arrival, just to make sure I understood that whole concept lol). While this book is very erotic in nature, it could also be uncomfortable to read about the degradation and humiliation the pet has to endure. This book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm anxious yet nervous to find out what's going to happen next.

This is not a romance in the typical sense of the word. This is dark, gritty, and full of emotion. The sex scenes are rampant and explicit. Some are even disturbing. I loved every minute of it. His Lordship is not a good man. Not because he is inherently evil, but because he is selfish and egotistical. The story takes place completely from his view point, with in depth sight into his mind. His pet is nothing more than a vessel who is treated worse than his dogs. And again, I loved it! The storytelling is fantastic, with both a feeling of taking place in the regency Era and also in modern time. I really can't wait to read the next installment and experience what comes next for His Lordship and his pet.

His lordship is in a bit of a rut, bored with life and wanting to avoid his wife he has decided to acquire a new pet and retire for a bit to the countryside to train it.
Naughty, naughty your Lordship -You know better -
Even the most obedient of pets requires proper handling and positive attention to flourish otherwise they may turn, and you wouldn't want that now would you?

This is a very dirty little tale about One Lord, One Pet, One Wife and One very very big mistake
If you are not looking for filthy and you are even a little squeamish - then this is NOT the book for you
But if you are looking for some seriously kinky, intensely dark and extremely perverted fun - then look no further

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. OMG is this book dirty and erotic! Lord Burleigh is an arrogant ass and feels so entitled. He's bored so he buys a 'pet'. Not a dog or cat or exotic animal but a young woman, to be a sexual toy for him. He keeps her in a guilded temperature-controlled cage in his estate garden, naked. He uses all kinds of toys on her for HIS own enjoyment; she is not considered because she is basically and object known only as his pet. It's like his world is so depraved, is it time for it to end? Should he get his comeuppance! Could not put the book down! Major cliffhanger!!

His Lordship's Downfall is a dark erotic story. Lord Adrian Burleigh is a married, handsome aristocratic sadist. He purchases a "pet" which he has modified prior to her delivery to alleviate his boredom. He doesn't really consider her to be a person, she's more of a plaything. Josie Litton is a wonderful author and even though the subject matter is disturbing at times, you are compelled to continue reading to see how the story will play out. Disappointedly the book ended with a cliffhanger. I'll have to wait for the next book to see what happens. I received an arc for an honest review

This book is dirty, sexy, hot, oh did I mention dirty???
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I think I hate His Lordship
But secretly I think I might love him, and I want to yell at "pet" throughout.
It is sexy, degrading and in some ways even liberating!
There is a lot of degradation, BDSM, violence, sex toy play (both common and
Not so common toys). I found myself laughing, crying , speechless, shocked,
Angry, turned on...that was just in the first few chapters.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I loved it! Beware, if you don't like dark romance, very detailed sexual scenes, sadistic themes, or dubious consent, you probably want to pass on this. However, if those things don't offend you and you like your tales on the darker side, I recommend reading it! I was pulled in from the very beginning and read it straight through. This is part one so it does end in a cliffhanger. Hopefully we won't have to wait long for part two!

It was an intriguing mix of old and new times. At first it took a while to get into the modern era while still dealing with an aristocratic feel.

For me this book was intense. I haven't read a lot of "dark" romances in my opinion. Not truly dark ones anyways. So this book was somewhat of a first for me.

I will say that the ending left me wanting to move straight into the next book. It ends on a cliffhanger but more than that it ends in the middle of a sentence.

All in all it was a new experience for me and I will be reading more.

SURREAL & VERY DARK...in a good way!
My mind was bent from the beginning! There were A LOT of things & situations in this book I've never heard of or read before, but it kept me turning pages as fast as I could! The sadistic Lord needs a good dose of his own medicine! Seems his "pet" is truly broken...or is she? I still question that. He stops his torture short of totally killing her mind & body, but then a CLIFFHANGER!AAH! I have to KNOW how this crazy S&M story ends in PART TWO! Read at your own risk, or you WILL get sucked in too!

I was given the ARC of part 1 by the author.
When she said this book was sexually explicit I thought yeah right I've heard that before. But she was right. I was overally aroused reading the whole book and I am not into BDSM. The descriptions were so vivid and complete that my imagination had me in quite a state the whole time.
The mixture of modern and Victorian setting and practices was fun. His sham marraige to a cousin as well as his job as a politician made the setting older, but his use of technology and cars made it modern. I was a little put off at first at the thought of him having a "pet" since I have control issues, but as I got pulled into his "training" I no longer cared. I was not impressed by the wife. She seemed to be a cliche of arranged marriage material from all stories. I would like to know what she knows about the "pet" though.
The nipple and labia rings really got me. When he was putting the jewels in her labia I was so turned on and I have no idea why. The thought of someone piercing my labia scares the hell out of me, but I assume her modifications were done under anesthesia. The thought of her being awake for all that made me feel bad for her so I assumed she wasn't!
As the story progressed I was at times angry with him for his stupid macho need to be superior. At no time did I feel like he was torturing her though. I would like to know how a woman ends up in the situation of having to become someone's pet. The other servants seemed to see it as normal as their servitude. Different time and place I guess.
I was irritated that the book ended on such a cliffhanger. I HATE cliffhangers, I moat likely wont be reading part 2. I see no reason why an author needs to end a book at a critical point. I'm not sure if they write one part and want to publish it so bad that they don't wait for part two or three, or if they do it keep people buying their books. I usually avoid books that say part 1 or tell you they end in a cliffhanger in the description.

Initially this story is disturbing, but in a good way. His Lordship's behavior is quite deviant on so many levels. Trigger alert, if you find abusive behavior upsetting, this is not the story for you. If you like your stories dark, you won't be disappointed. I already have part 2 on my TBR list! I can hardly wait for the conclusion. Pay back is a "you know what". Maybe there will be a HEA? I recieved this book as an ARC, this is my honest opinion.

Dark, spicy and complex, this story will surely warm you in the dark nights. The sexual content of the story is explicit, highly charged and torrid. Nothing is left to the imagination in the scenes of passionate, red-hot sexual encounters. An extremely unique, interesting, compelling and at times, downright dirty story that had me intrigued and anxious the whole time I was reading. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next one.

WOW!! Definitely a dark and erotic book. This was completely different than any erotica I have read before and I couldn't put the book down!!. The Lord who bought a virgin for a pet was not someone you could like. And the pet really pulled at the emotions as this relationship was beyond BDSM. The descriptions had me needing a shower a couple of times. All in all I can't wait for book 2. I received and ARC from the author and I am giving my voluntary and honest review.
