ON PAPER, IT'S PRETEND. BUT MY HEART KNOWS WHAT'S REAL
His proposal came in a little black envelope with thirteen unlucky words:
You still owe me that favor, doll, and I'm cashing in.
Marry me.
In a normal life, I'd never get hitched to Calvin Randolph. Not with his heart-stopping blue eyes, infamous player reputation, and an ego bigger than the part of his anatomy he loves boasting about the most.
Been there, done that. All except the last part, which he's left to my shameful imagination for seven years apart.
Of course, the fake fiancée contract I just signed is anything but normal. Neither was the tragic day our schoolyard romance died, when he made an unspeakable sacrifice.
He saved my life. He paid a terrible price. Now, I owe him big.
He's come to collect in make believe: the blushing lies, the sideways glances leaving me breathless, the teasing kisses every time his teeth grab my bottom lip in front of the world.
It shouldn't be this hard.
It's just pretend. It's just a few weeks. I can totally resist the demanding, cold, obscenely handsome man he's become.
We have our rules. But the simple one I kept to myself might be harder: don't fall in love.
I already did that once. I know the risks. I won't let it happen.
Because if his charm steals my heart again, if I let him go all the way when his lips trace scary promises on mine, this paper engagement becomes real enough to ruin us...

I was thinking of leaving a quick summary or glimpse of the book but then I realized that it already does that. What I am suppose to do as I fan who's read the book is leave my honest review so here it goes:
This book started out as your typical fake turned into real relationship BUT what I loved about this one in particular is that the main characters in the book, Cal & Maddy, was that they already had a past together. I'm not saying that books that don't are bad, just that I really loved that about this book.
Also you can feel all the emotions, the anger, the hate, the love, the lust, and the lost. It shows that you have to face your past in order to move on with your future and it is something I could relate to. That as long as you have that ground to keep you up and face it then you'll conquer everything head on, that REAL love will prosper.
While reading this book I learned that sometimes we do things out of impulse or possessiveness, the urge to protect the one you love blinds you and you don't see clearly. I can relate and you know what it bites you back as hard. But that is okay as long as you admit it and face the consequences. Mistakes happen.
Loved how the character learned to love one another AND face everything together. Talking helps as long as your with the right person. Love is a funny thing. I ABSOLUTELY 100-THOUSAND% think you will LOVE this book. 😉 I couldn't put this book down!
Honestly, I think I'm rating high on this one and if it hadn't been for the audible title I used to help me finish this book I was having so many issues getting into I'm not sure I would have finished it at all.
He's a raging asshole who displays absolutely no respect for Maddie at any point during the book. I'm pretty sure he claims to respect her at some point but actions speak louder than word and his say he basically sees her as a possession to be owned rather than a woman to be loved and respected. His seven or eight-year obsession with her is centered on her body, on having her in his bed and originated on the need to have her virginity and he proves time and time again that it has nothing to do with her heart. He reads more like a stalker than a love interest. I feel like the whole sell on this character is that he's rich and attractive and that really doesn't do it for me. I mean sure those are nice perks to a guy, but it's pretty shallow to fall in love with a bank account and a pretty face. If the personality, what's inside isn't as pretty as what's out it's not worth the time or effort and with Cal, he's downright nasty with a few minorly redeeming moments that don't even out for his horrid behavior the rest of the novel. Like okay, there's a dressing room sex scene, which might have been hot if he hadn't announced he was going to do it to all the employees and her sister and then basically paid for it like she's some kind of fucking hooker at a brothel. The rush of public sex is the fear in the back of your mind that you might get caught, it's not getting treated, in front of other people, like you're a warm hole to be used with little regard to any self respect she's clearly not allowed to have.
Maddy is almost as bad reading like a massively naive doormat who's honestly just too stupid to live. She grates almost as much as he did. She forgives everything and falls at his feet with appologies after doing nothing wrong. She has no understanding of how the world works and the idea that she might hold the career she's supposed to with the behavior she displays is downright ridiculous.
If it weren't bad enough that I absolutely LOATHED both leading characters there's the plot which is unliklely to say the least and shows very little in the way of research. Let's start with the bully lording over the whole private school whose little more than a glorified street dealer. It doesn't matter who his father is, city councilman or not (especially as that's not all that impressive of a title) the rest of the parents who send their silver spoon children to this academy would never allow a kid like that to go there. This is supposed to be a school filled with the children of powerful people, one man's kid is not going to mistreat them all and have a school that still has students. If the parents couldn't stop the problem they'd remove all their children. They pay for private schools to not only offer their kids the best education but to ensure their precious darlings are in a safe environment. They're not going to pay for a school lorded over by a wanna be gang lord. Second politicians may get away with a lot but city councilman is a minor political role and there's no way he'd get away with as much as he does in this novel. Next if someone tries to kill you and winds up dead while you're trying to save yourself it's called Self defense with countless witnesses to attest to it and therefore wouldn't result in the main character spending time in juvie or jail because you are allowed to protect yourself from harm. Again our ruthless politician would not have the power to change THAT many witness statements as to how many people were supposedly there. Next when you get arrested you aren't instantly sent to prison there's this thing called due process where you go to trial and have to be found guilty first, none of this is even acknowledged when it comes to Maddy. Also it would have been nice if Snow had made up her mind between Juvie and jail because they aren't the same thing and Snow uses them interchangably as if they are.
The whole background premise of this novel is ludicrous and the characters are entirely unlikeable. I really don't see how so many people like it because it feels to me like I couldn't have been reading the same book for all the rave reviews I've seen that attracted me to this novel. It was a chore to finish it and it's not a book I'd ever recommend.
*sigh* Nicole always knows how to make you love and hate the heroes she writes. For Cal he is really really the latter for the first 50% of the book. He totally redeems himself the last 50%.
Nicole is second to none when she writes the steam. WOW does it get hot enough to melt your kindle with this one.
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.
dnf 15% The 'incident' hangs over the whole story. Dramatic foreshadowing up the wazoo interspersed with interminable flash backs that still never explain... but tease us about, 'the incident'. It is finally explained around 75%.. plot holes? yep. OTT villain? yep.
I felt like I was being lead around by the nose.
They meet in a snooty private high school. Shit happens. He goes to jail (the logic of how he was found guilty escapes me). He needs a fake fiance so 7 years later they meet again. Stuff is rehashed. The OTT villain causes trouble... The H is one of those cocky a-holes who smirks a lot and kinda talks down to her until he finally gets in her pants. The h is boring.
So DNF... not my cuppa and that's before I find out the h is still safety is meh

Cal is Maddie’s high school crush. Maddie is the girl Cal wanted but never really connected with. Their story is like a fairy tale. A terrible event tears them apart before they ever really get together. Years later, they reconnect when Cal calls in the favor Maddie owes him.
The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot. His hot, alpha male personality makes you want him for yourself, but Maddie is so endearing that you really are happy they are together. I found myself screaming “no” in my head for some of the decisions Cal made (even though he thought he was doing the right thing).
This book has everything - a hot and steamy romance, likeable main characters, solid best friends, "bad" guys, and great plot with twists and turns. I could not put it down once I started reading. I couldn't read this fast enough. I had to know why Maddie owes Cal a favor, what happened that drove such a wedge between Cal and his father and whether or not they get their happily ever after.
I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review but I loved it so much I purchased a copy for my personal library!
3 Star Kindle Unlimited Read I very much enjoyed reading. However, a lot of what went wrong could have been avoided if everyone took time to communicate versus jumping to conclusions. Will continue if series advances. If not I will check out other books by Author Nicole Snow.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Maddie hasn't seen or heard from Cal in over seven years, but today that all changed. Seven years ago Cal saved Maddie. By her own admission, she owes him. Now it's time to pay up. Cal needs a wife, if only on paper, and the only wife he wants is Maddie. Ever since meeting her years ago, she's never strayed too far from his mind. She owes him big time. This could either be lots of fun or get really complicated real fast. Cal is in position to inherit his father's partnership in RET, Randolph-Emerson-Turnbladt, a well respected marketing company. He's worked very hard, but his father isn't convinced of his abilities. When Cal saved Maddie, he paid a very high price and his father has been holding it over his head ever since. He needs Maddie to help him get what is rightfully his. She is just a means to an end. Nothing more. That is, until it becomes more. Cal is not the same guy she knew all those years ago and Maddie is not that shy, naive girl. Cal is colder. He is all business now and determined to get his due. The cocky, arrogant player Cal once was, has morphed into a cocky, handsome, and very private man. He's very successful and doesn't plan on giving that up without a fight. This was supposed to be fake. It sounded great on paper. In real life? Well, it's becoming more and more complicated and less like a contract not worth the paper it was written on. It's hard to move forward with old enemies looking for revenge, ready to pounce at what little happiness you may have found. Years may pass but the past never forgets especially when it seeks vengeance. WELL WRITTEN, GRIPPING STORYLINE WITH DEVASTATING TWISTS AND TURNS ! WHAT STARTED OUT AS A SECOND CHANCE LOVE STORY TURNED INTO SUSPENSE, FULL OF INTRIGUE AND REDEMPTION ! A HIGH SCHOOL CRUSH THAT TURNS INTO WILD, UNRESTRAINED PASSION ! ! ! (Waiting patiently for a story based on Cade. I just know he's gonna have an amazing story to tell.) ONE WILD RIDE ! AWESOME STORY ! A DEFINITE ONE-CLICK ! ! !
I was looking for a fun, light read. I'm not familiar with the author, but based on the blurb I thought this was just that. Well, it isn't exactly a funny Rom-com type of book I was looking for, but I can't say I'm disappointed either. This is a story that has an angsty dark-ish undertone, but the more you read, you find little pieces of sweetness sprinkled throughout. It is a fake fiancee story, but not in the typical way. It's a second chance romance with a HEA. It's short and even though some elements of the plot are a little unbelievable, and some events are OTT unrealistic, it was worth the time it took to read.
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I recommend this book to all hot alpha male lovers. It is a stand alone book with a really hot HEA. Could not put this book down. I loved this story.
WOW! What a great story. This story is about two people when they were young that were bullied by someone and one of them ended up paying the price. It is about young love that reunites when they are older, it is about hurt, forgiveness, change, and finding new hope.
Calvin aka Cal Randolph was this rich cocky guy who had a crush on Maddie Middleton since he was a young boy. I loved that fact that even when he was young he would do what ever it took to keep her safe and protected her.
My heart truly broke for Cal for what he went through when he was young. I am not going to say what got him thrown into prison but I will say I thought the circumstance behind it was unfair. He truly did not desire what he got.
Maddie had to be surprised when she got a letter in mail with an engagement ring letting her know Cal was collected on his favor and to marry him. Yeah, I am sure her mouth was falling to the ground.
I thought it was funny that Cal wanted a fake engagement. Funny but yet sad. I found Cal’s father a real jerk. It broke my heart the hatred that Cal’s father felt for him. His father is dying and you will wonder if Cal will ever get the words “I love you” or “I am proud of you” from his father.
I loved the sexual tension between Cal and Maddie. The two were both denying their feelings. Both felt like it would not be a good idea for emotions to be involved and to keep it totally professional. Hard when you are harboring feelings from when you were young.
The thing about the past is it does not always stay buried. Someone from Cal and Maddie’s past will surface and cause so much problems.
There are a few steamy parts and I assure you that Nicole does not disappoint.
This story was completely different than I was expecting from Nicole Snow. It had everything that a reader expects from her but I felt it was a bit darker and grittier. Not necessarily dark like the content was disturbing but dark like: I felt like I was reading this in a smoking room, with low lights and a narrator to talk about the past scenes. It felt very noir to me, like a 1950’s black and white movie.
It made me feel deeper emotions than I am used to with her stories. I was emotionally involved and felt like I was interacting with these characters. I wanted to butt into their conversations and smack a character upside the head. I wanted to be involved and a part of the story.
The story is about a couple who tried to be together when they were younger but circumstance and fate tore them apart and now in the future 7 years later they have to find their way back to each other. The emotions that were written and the characters personalities really added to the drama of the story. There was one part that I felt was a little rushed and was a bit disappointed in but it was a minor aspect of the overall story. This was so well written and developed that it is a must read for any reader. Oh… and there was a surprise guest mentioning of a character from one of Nicole’s previous stories. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This story was different than what I was expecting –all good. Its darker than what she normally writes for themes in her stories. It is intense and gripping. Calvin Randolph took real notice of Maddie Middleton, the new kid at the privileged Maynard Academy. Calvin ended up developing this huge crush on Maddie something that even took over the thoughts he had for the head cheerleader. He found he was obsessed with Maddie and Maddie was beginning to have feelings for Calvin. Unfortunately the starting feelings that they were beginning to explore between them did not even get a chance to develop any further due to an incident with the school's bully which cost them both, with ranging levels of severity. Years later, Calvin needs a favor so he calls it in and that sends Maddie back to him as Cal calls in his chip with her. So many twists, turns, plenty of anger laced with stubborn pride along with mystery and intrigue and sexy red hot passion. This makes for one interesting read. Fiancé On Paper was so much more than I could have begun to imagine, with this emotional story-line that has them, the redeemed sexy hot alpha hero and his doll Maddie, fight for their love.
My Rating: 4.8 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
This is an intense, gripping tale from the very first page. The suspense ate at me as I read, desperate to solve the mystery that kept Cal on the outskirts of his father's love, and Maddie halfway around the world.
The author did an amazing job keeping my attention as she switched time periods in a way that left me even hungrier for the denouement of the plot. I couldn't help but be caught up in the mystery and intrigue while hoping that Cal & Maddie would FINALLY get it on! When the feelings get real, it's then that the story gets even deeper.
I can't reveal anything else; you have got to get yourself a copy of this book.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
I'm a huge fan of Nicole's so I'd love her work even if it were just a recipe haha!
She's great at giving you all the baaaad stuff and it's just so good. This one was no different because I loved it!!!
It's little different from what I'm use to from Nicole in the sense of the tone of the book but no less gripping then her other books. I didn't know what to expect and enjoyed the ride along the way!! I highly recommend this one if you're looking for something that's a little darker but still leads to a happily ever after. :)
Great story. Deception, angst, romance and hot steamy thoughts of sex followed this couple through their lives in this story that really intrigued me. At first I was annoyed by the flashing back and forth of the time line, trying to figure out why Cal went to jail, but it was clever of Ms Snow as it built up the suspense to where I could not put down this book until the end.
This was not it. I’m honestly a little disappointed in myself for finishing it. Cal was an ass for pretty much all of the book, and Maddie’s personality was one step above bland at all times. There was little to no research done, or if there was, the author decided to take every artistic liberty they could when it the research didn’t match their plot plans. I’ve read several of Nicole Snow’s books and this was the first true let down, but I guess they can’t all be winners.
Hooked from the beginning!!! I voluntarily reviewed this book as an ARC , and let me just tell you I'm so glad I did!! This Author is a new author to me and I can tell you she won't be anymore!💖💖💖💖 I absolutely loved this book! Cal and "Doll's" relationship is anything but your same old story. They were ripped apart by a tragedy and brought back together 7 years later to put on a fake engagement to impress Cals dad on his deathbed. They went through more than anyone can imagine and their relationship is anything but fake! Death, lies, scandals, and set-ups couldn't tear them apart. Their love is stronger in the end because of it! I highly recommend this book!! This is a second chance romance with an HEA! 💖 What are you waiting for?? One Click this baby!!!
Cal and Maddie came from two totally different economic backrounds. Yet met in a school only the rich affluent kids were sent to, Maddie was fortunate or unfortunate however one looks at it was able to attend said school due to earning a scholarship. Feeling very out of place, yet still unable to stay hidden attracted attention from some she didn't want to. Things happened, not intentionally, but remains they still did, and years passed, and 7 years later Cal and Maddie are ending back in same town having to deal with each other once again. This is an eventful story of many twists and turns, lots of feelings, emotions, with an awesome ending of two broken/ healing souls❤️.Loved their story!
One day Maddie gets a letter telling her the favor she owes has come due. Calvin Randolph is collecting in the form of a marriage proposal. The favor came to be because a bully back in high school didn't like that Maddie had stumbled upon something he didn't want known so to retaliate he had her framed for something to get her expelled from school. Calvin knew what was happening and took the fall to save Maddie. By doing this it put him on the outs with his father and lands him in some serious trouble. Maddie made a promise to him that day to do anything to help him so this is what he wants. He needs to be settled down to collect his inheritance and he doesn't want just anybody it has to be Maddie. they have some unfinished business from high school also. As they work together to help him achieve he goal someone from the past tries to cause conflict again however they get some help from an unexpected person.
This was a great book. I liked how it took us back in flashbacks to where everything happened to make Calvin the man his is today. the chemistry with these characters is off the charts. If you haven't read anything from this author this would be a great choice to start off with. You would not regret it.
2.5-3 stars, felt weird and rushed, After 7 years people are completely different, but they seemed to skip over the re-get-to-know-you phase and hopped right from borderline hate you to love you. Not a terrible story, but not very good either
I have read many a fake fiancé romance before and after awhile they can seem redundant. As I received this book as an advanced copy I was not sure what to expect. However, I still went into the book with an open mind. And I am glad I kept that open mind. Because even though Nicole Snow was writing on subject that’s been done to death in the past she managed to put her own flair on it and didn’t lose the Nicole Snow vibe. The book was an exciting journey about two people who evolve in their feelings for one another.
Maddie I felt was a good main character. Even with the horrors in the past she was not a simpering woman. She had a mind of her own. Even thought Cal does play her knight in shining armor and rightfully so, she has an actual mind and strength of her own. The dynamic and the chemistry between both Cal and Maddie didn’t feel rushed or just thrown together. I am a fan of a writer’s ability to tell a story and the author does that very well here. The story had a flow. It did not feel like a disjoined attempt to fit a certain genre.
Did I think Maddie could have been stronger? Yes. But then again most of us would be complaining that Maddie was too stubborn and hard and out Alpha’d the Alpha in the story. All of us have our own definition of strength. I think Nicole Snow found a good balance without falling off the deep end in either direction. Cal, yes even though an asshole, does provide something to the story. His assholery was necessary in the beginning for character development. Because in order to show growth and how he managed to relate to Maddie, he has to mellow out gradually. Again the line between total and utterly unforgivable asshole and Alpha hole can be complicated, and each of us has our own limit as to where that line is. But Cal’s brand of asshole in this book perfectly complements Maddie.
I found this to be a nice read overall. If you are looking for your average book on fake fiancé relationship. This probably is not your cup of tea because this book is more. It is a second chance, HEA. Some of you might find it tad dark. Cal has his dark moment. Again his darkness makes him the man he is, and leads him down the path that brings him Maddie.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Fiancé On Paper written by Nicole Snow and voluntarily reviewed this book. Calvin Randolph took real notice of Maddie Middleton, the new kid at the privileged Maynard Academy. In fact, he developed a bonafide crush for her, something that usurped his beneficial relationship with the head cheerleader at the time. However, the fledgling feelings that they were just beginning to explore between them did not even get a chance to develop any further, because an incident with the school's bully goes from bad to incredibly bad in a matter of seconds, but Cal did it all so that he could to protect Maddie, even if it costed him his future.
Simply put, Maddie owes Cal the life she has now. He already owned her heart years ago. An out-of-the-blue request from Cal as he calls in his chip with her has her flying back from China to pose as his fiancée on paper only, to prove to his dying father that he is worthy of being passed his legacy. Maddie can't say no, but she has rules of her own, ones that are included in the contract she signs. But what happens when she begins to regret having those rules be a wall to them being together? And just how will this contract hold up when things start mysteriously happening all around them - is what they have together strong enough to get them through the adversity?
This was a very entertaining, red-hot sexy read, with Cal's Alpha-male bad#%sness and their chemistry together pacing this second-chance romance. The way he expresses himself to Maddie, when he does...WHEW! The regularly chaptered flashbacks do a great job of filling in the missing pieces of their pasts with the background information that had leads them back to this destined path together, a future they should have had before it was ripped away from them in their youth.
This was a well-written intriguing story that had lots of twists and turns to make it an exciting read. Maddie and Calvin meet at Maynard Academy, but what happens there sets in motion a turn of events that defines their future lives.
Doll is a name Maddie has not heard since high school and Calvin wouldn’t break a 7-year silence for nothing; he is calling in a favour but Maddie cannot believe what he is asking her to do. Then again, Maddie did say she would do anything if he ever needed her to and she owes Calvin big time; without him she never would have had her dream career among other things. After all Calvin had stepped in and saved her when everything seemed hopeless. Calvin’s father is dying and cannot forgive Calvin’s past misdemeanours no matter what and when he introduces Maddie as his new fiancée, his father recognises her as the girl who destroyed their family. Nevertheless, Maddie and Calvin continue their charade as a newly engaged couple, but the contract they have signed becomes difficult to keep, especially when pictures circulate showing Calvin with another woman; someone Maddie knows very well from their past. Maddie has loved Calvin for 7-years and he is still the only one for her, so this betrayal is unforgiveable and finally forces Calvin to confess his true feelings. Meanwhile, Calvin is being targeted and not in a good way and while he tries to protect Maddie, it is not enough; she wants to understand the truth and to offer her help. Calvin is persecuted relentlessly; someone is looking for revenge and will stop at nothing to undermine him. It is time to put an end to this ongoing vendetta and help comes from an unexpected source. Not only that, but Calvin finally gets the forgiveness he craves. This was an excellent book and I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending it. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
** Rubs hand together excitedly ** Ok- So folks I have to say I went into this book with the impression it would be along the same lines as most " fake fiance " books have been in the past, while that is not a bad thing, I was blown away by how different this book was! It has exceeded my expectations twice over! This is a detailed full length- give it to me all and then some novel is full of heartbreak as we watch two souls connected by a love and electrifying passion most people could only ever dream of fight their way through the dark demons of the past and present. Trying to come out the other side together bruised but ready to move on to the future. So many twists and turns, maddening anger laced with stubborn pride. I wanted to dislike macho Cal, yet just like poor Maddie all the moments of wittinesses, proclamations of love ( even when he didn't come right out and say it) self-discoveries, his taking care of business attitude in and out of the bedroom ( or the dress shop I MEAN .. I would have been cool with that haha) and his need to be her protector, how that has not changed in seven years, No matter what it will cost him. I couldn't stay mad at him either! As I stated above Fiance On Paper was so much more than I could have imagined, there was no chance of me putting this emotional hottie down; being so caught up in the storyline time slipped by, phones, emails, etc. went unanswered. Nothing seemed as important as me finishing this beast of a book! This in my opinion is a 5 ++++++ Star Read! That I would highly recommend to other books fiends ~One Click Material!
I was lucky enough to receive an advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read
Let me first start out by saying that this is not your typical fake fiance romance. Nicole Snow has managed to take the old tried and true plot story line and give it an edge and a twist. Cal and Maddie have a rough beginning because of a tragic event that ties them together from the past and an emotional promise made by her when it happened that Cal has never forgot. I was dying to find out what played out in the past to give Cal the attitude and mind set that he had in the present and why Maddie felt she owed Cal this favor of being his pretend fiance. Eventually we find out what happened as each character reflects on past memories that lead up to catalyst of what changed their lives and the aftermath while dealing with current issues in the present that are affecting Cal because of their history, Maddie whose able to go on with her life and Cal who is left unknowingly by Maddie to deal and pick up the pieces from that fateful day. Cal is definitely alpha with a capital A, cocky, conceited at times, arrogant with just enough aloofness to be a jerk that I felt Maddie's frustration with him at times but boy let me tell you when he says he's not playing anymore and that he's all in, he's ALL in! Cal hides his caring and protectiveness behind his attitude and we see Maddie chip at those defense's in order to get them both where they need to be when everything comes full circle. Will these two be able to learn that what's between them is much more then either of them realized? Or will the past once again tear them apart? Read and find out.
*** I received an ARC copy from the author for an honest review***
Are you in a book funk? Are you sick of finding many books following the same storyline? If you are, then this is the book for you!
Fiance on Paper offers a second chance/billionaire romance with a difference. Yes you have the strong alpha male who takes no prisoners and the independent yet beautiful lead female but they have good strong personalities of their own. They don't follow the script set by other books of this genre. They have a past, ties that bind. (I promise I'm not going to repeat the blurb at this point) And it's time they laid the past to rest and forged a future for themselves. But the past refuses to stay buried. This is where the story stood out for me. We're given sneaky glimpses of what happened but not the whole story, at certain points throughout the book this past is referred to but the author keeps it a well hidden secret until the very end. This I loved and hated in equal measure. I was desperate to find out what the big secret was yet I found it exciting, greedily devouring every page in a need to find answers. There were many twists and turns and a few surprises along the way. In a nutshell, this book is one hell of a story, filled with love, friendship, excitement and action. It's an all-around that stands out against it's peers. The only question I'm left with is, Nicole Snow do you plan on writing Cade and Spences stories? If you do, then I for one would love to read them. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review but I had downloaded a copy of my own from KU.
🔥🔥BAD BOY/GOOD GIRL.....NICOLE SNOW......SHOULD BE ALL I HAVE TO SAY!!🔥🔥 Truthfully, when I first saw the title, I thought, "How many of these fake marriage, romance, engagement books have I read?" But then when I saw it was written by Nicole Snow, I had no doubt she would put a new twist to it...but how? I'll tell you how....well sorta...I can't tell you about the whole book, (although I'd love to), because I hate spoilers, and I really enjoyed reading the book (as I do all of Nicole Snow's books), and I want you to go in blind, like I did and read it for yourself....I LOVED IT!!! And you will se the differences....🔥🔥 This book is about a young man and woman who attended high school together...was there a relationship?? Not like you think, but feelings were definitely there on both sides, and after some horrible, life-changing circumstances happened, "Doll" made Cal a promise that she would do ANYTHING for him......Now, even though they haven't seen each other in 7 years, he decides to cash in this promise...In my opinion, it was just a different spin on a familiar premise....As with all of Nicole Snow's books...well....let's just say she knows how to write a HOT, STEAMY book with a good story...and she knows how to keep your attention from cover to cover....I hope she makes this book into a series....Cade and Spencer seem to have some secrets, and I want to know what they are...so, I hope they also get their own books....Great Book, Nicole!!!! 🔥🔥
Couldn't put this down, never a dull or boring moment, They started out as friends then their feelings became more until a buy stood between them and cause them have tension, then with a bully causing more troubles Cal will take matters into his own hands but a simple fist fight will turn into something worse. Now 7 years later, past will stay in the forefront of Cal life, even on his father;s deathbed. What he needs now is to make himself look good so he cashes in an old favor from the girl who got away, she made a promise and now she has to pay up. Cal needs a fake fiance and his Doll is the only women he will have next to him in a view of maturity and a way to torture his heart.
Maddie 'Doll' was always on the right side great grades, the perfect student, great older child and protective older sister, daughter of working class parents that got a scholarship to go to Maynerd Academy, basically a school of millionaire and billionaire children. But she like everyone else has to deal with the school junkie bully 'Scrouge'.
Calvin all around lacrosse player, great student, A+ GPA, second son of a billionaire, baby brother of an American soldier, playboy, gets sick of Scrouge getting away with what he wants and not getting into any serious trouble.
Alex 'Scrouge' Palkovich Jr., son of a councilman, nephew of Match from Grizzlies MC, punk, bully, junkie, and all around a$$hole.
A High School crush (that goes both ways), Maddie & Cal along with other friends are dealing with a bully. Cal is a Hero in my book as he saves Maddie from the bully and then a terrible accident happens that tears them apart because Cal takes the blame for Maddie since she is pretty much being blackmailed by the bully, Alex. Alex is a mess who gets away with everything because of who his father is in the government.
Seven years go by and Maddie is working at a job she loves in another country when she gets a message from Cal saying that he is cashing in on her owed favor. He needs her to be his fake fiance' so his father believes that he is responsible enough to have a major part in the family business. Lots of bad blood with the father who is on his death bed and very bitter over past events. Thank goodness that gets resolved because its some pretty heavy stuff. You really just need to read this book. The characters are wonderful and the story had just the right amount of back history in places where you needed it the most. Have a tissue ready also for the acceptance and apology that comes from Cal's father, you will need it.
A truly wonderful HEA with tons of feel good moments and others that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoy each and everyone of Nicole's books and am looking forward to all that are yet to come.
I did receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review and it has been a pleasure reading the book and writing a review for it.
A great new read from Nicole Snow! When Cal cashes in on a promise to be there when he needs her brings Maddie back into his life and restores something they have both been missing for seven years. When Cal needs to get deal with the amendment in his soon to be gone father's will the one person who pops into his mind is Maddie. Their connection in high school was interrupted when an altercation with a high school bully has serious consequences, but seven years later they have the chance to change all everything that is if they can admit to themselves what's real and not just what's spelled out on paper. Maddie finds herself in a much different place than she was seven years ago, all the way in China, but when an envelope shows up from Cal she will bring herself home to help him and in the process answer what might have been seven years ago if they hadn't been interrupted. With the stress of trying to fool everyone into believing their relationship is real, when they can't admit it's what they really want, a dying old man who can't let the past go and a threat from that fatal day seven years ago and Cal and Maddie will not have an easy go of it, but sometimes the hardest situation brings the greatest reward. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
