Mine to Save

Rate this book
This time, he'll have to save one of his own...

I make everything complicated. Instead of being content owning a bar, I accept a job with the Rescue Ops team at Night Eagle Security. Apparently, guys with Special Forces explosives training are hard to come by. And instead of hooking up with one of the many women who flirt with me, I have to fall for hacker Sayward Diaz. Not only is she one of my new co-workers, she's also just become my first assignment. Like I said, complicated.

When Sayward's father dies and his secret ties to the Columbia cartel put her in danger, it's my job to keep her safe at all costs. For a woman who's more comfortable with computers than humans, she's not exactly thrilled to have me as her bodyguard--or by our undeniable spark. And with threats coming at us from all sides, I can't let our attraction compromise her safety. Because if I do, my first mission might be my last...

This series has been quite the ride. I think Diana may have saved the best for last with Mine To save. Bennett Blacke has had a rough life with the special forces and a cringe worthy ex wife. He now prefers his quiet life running his bar. He's helped the guys at Night Eagle Security before and now it seems they want something else from him. It doesn't help that he's insanely attracted to his new co-worker and first assignment, Sayward Diaz.

Sayward is a lot of things, and I absolutely love her straight forward attitude, which comes mainly from her autism. She's quiet and awkward, an amazing hacker, and a great judge of character. Bennett will protect her with all he has, at all costs.

It was heartwarming to see Sayward come out of her shell for Bennett. He's this big strong guy whos been through hell, yet he's super sweet and patient with her. I think this is my favorite couple from this series. They're both amazing characters, perfect for each other.

I love the way Diana writes romantic suspense. She did an especially amazing job writing Sayward's character. I have autistic kids in my life and she really nailed the characteristics well. This was a pleasure to read, even without the intense heat between Bennett and Sayward. I found myself just wanting the story to continue at the end! I just didn't want to part with these characters. I highly recommend this series!

Gahhh!! Anyone who knows me knows that Romantic Suspense is my jam. It provides the thrills I love and the swoons and chills on the romance front that I need! That is exactly what we got with Mine to Save. I loved Sayward and Bennett's connection and could not get enough of their story.

I loved that Sayward was also an atypical heroine and that the author was not only able to highlight her profound intelligence but her compulsions as a person living with Autism. It was so amazing to see Bennett love her regardless of their differences and was able to breach her walls and need to distance herself from people. Likewise I loved that Sayward
helped Bennett feel for someone again after the betrayals in his past.

All in all this was a great story and I look forward to the next novel in this series. I would like to thank Netgalley and the Forever Romance Team for an advanced copy of this novel for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Hands down, this is my favorite book in this series. I love how Diana took the time and effort to thoroughly research autism and develop Sayward into a beautiful and unique heroine. Being that autism is so common these days, I found this to be a great story for people to see how one lives in this world with it.

Sayward is a brilliant and beautiful woman and I have so much love for her. Despite her differences, she still functions as a highly skilled member of NES who is looked upon with love and respect. She doesn't feel comfortable socially but that all changes when Bennett comes barrelling into her life like a freight train.

Bennett has been burned by love. Being the honorable man that he is, he took the prison sentence for beating his wife's lover to a pulp. He could've easily gotten off using his PTSD as an excuse, but he didn't. Now he works at a bar that a friend left him after dying of cancer. When Jacob and the NES team come trying to get him to join the ream, they sick Sayward on him to convince him. He was never prepared for the sexy Latina to totally own him, heart and soul.

This is a sexy story for sure. But to me the story is so beautiful that even if there was no sec involved, I would've been a happy camper. Way to go on another fabulous release Diana!

Mine to Save is the story of Bennett Blacke, who thought his time working with special ops was over. He is now a bar owner and ex con. But, an offer from NES could bring him back into the fold of security and rescue, giving him a chance to use his skills honed in the military. That chance could bring him back to a dark place that landed him in prison though.

Sayward is a computer hacker for NES. She was rescued from Columbia when her family was targeted by a drug cartel. Jacob, the head of NES has made sure Sayward was safe and taken care of. However, she just received word that her father has died and she is planning to return to Columbia. The danger is that the son of the cartel leader who kidnapped her may still be looking for her.

Sayward is on the Autism spectrum. As a special education teacher, I am very critical of character portrayal with disabilities. While the author said Sayward was on the low end of the spectrum, her character portrayal is more mid spectrum. She has the social struggles of someone with Aspergers, but some of her emotional issues and behaviors are more severe than a low spectrum Autism diagnosis. Would that bother anyone who ISN'T a special education professional? Probably not. The author uses the classic, stereotypical symptoms of Autism that people are familiar with.

Overall, the plot of Mind to Save was interesting and the relationship between Sawyward and Bennett was engaging and entertaining! These two have more baggage than LAX so seeing them wade through it all was satisfying.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every Diana Gardin book I've read. Mine to Save was exactly what I expected and more. I love that Sayward struggles with autism. Gardin does such a good job with Sayward's point of view which was so different from any romance heroine I've ever read. She made Sayward very sympathetic, sexy, incredibly likable and a great match for Bennett. I love that Bennett is not only attracted to Sayward but so gentle with her. He understands what she needs when her instinct is to resort to her coping behaviors. He never pities her or makes her feel bad about herself. He instead makes her feel safe and gives her a life as a vibrant, sexual women she never dreamed she could be.

Gardin does a really good job of creating prior military Alpha males who are also kind and caring. Even when he doesn't believe it about himself, Bennett is a really good guy. He's also very competent in a crisis and fits right in with his initially reluctant teammates.

This book had all the elements of a good read - gripping suspense, fun banter, a sexy main couple and the happily ever after I expected. I can definitely recommend it to any lover of romance, military, and suspense.

Betraying a man whilst he is in a war zoning fighting for our country is pretty low. This is exactly what Bennett's wife, Valarie does to him. She also acts as if it is no big deal; as if he was the one who is wrong. Taking a person off a war zone does not mean their fighting tendencies are immediate turned off. For Bennett, one heated moment causes a regret that can not be easily overcome. Like most ex-cons, it is difficult to get a job after he's done his time. Luckily for Bennett, he is taken under another's wing and runs a bar. When an old friend asks him to help save his fiance, Bennett does what he did best... blow shit up.

Bennett considered that a one time favour. Now, his buddy's company is looking to hire him. Accepting a job in the Rescue Ops team at Night Eagle Security would fill a missing piece for Bennett. He isn't made for inaction. But how can he trust them just as how can they trust a felon? This part of the story really bugged me. As a felon, Bennett can not be carrying a gun. In this story it made it sound like it was no big deal. This is a fallacy. In the States, especially those who have done time like Bennett, felons can not own a fire arm and he shouldn't really be caught with carrying one. Especially as his crime is most likely classified as domestic violence, even if it technically wasn't. This is where it was fuzzy. This little bit of wtf-ery pulled me out of the story and I had to keep reminding myself to get over it. I digress.

This tale is about Bennett's redemption by protecting and saving Sayward. Sayward is a Colombian immigrant who is hiding from the drug cartel. She's also autistic and a hacker. I liked Sayward. She is quirky and I also happen to know people with autism. For me, Sayward is pretty mildly impacted and it is nice to see her perspective. Her interaction with Bennett is plausible and kind of cute. Their romance is stilted and awkward which is a bit of a stereotyping of autistic people, but it worked. I found Sayward's hiding and fleeing the sexy alpha predator Bennett to be quite amusing.

The plot device in this story was a bit weak for me. The second it was explained how and why Sayward came to the States, her father's death is suspect. And more suspect is her brother's journey to bring her to her father's funeral. This is a train wreck spotted miles away. And no one is clued in but the reader. Said reader may be yelling at the characters to watch out. All advice is unheeded as the characters can not hear the reader and the reader may experience extreme frustration. To say I knew how this would all turn out within 25% into the book would be an understatement. Still, I girded my loins and stuck to it. I really wanted to scream "I told ya so" but really, who would I be saying it to? I did feel like smacking these Rescue Ops guys across the head a few times because for a private security company, they were pretty darn clueless. My guess is when it is one of their own, they are completely blindsided.

Nevertheless, I did enjoyed the suspense and gulped this story down in one sitting. This romantic suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy quirky females who need the protection of a dinged up alpha male.

When Bennett is offered a trial position with Night Eagle Security he is hesitant about taking it, full well knowing some of the men who will have his back, have doubts about him and his abilities, and are questioning how much he deserves the shot. But before Bennett can say no to the deal, and send them packing, Sayward Diaz gets involved and he just can't say no to her, especially when he learns her life is in danger. The thought of something happening to her and him not being there to help prevent it is more unnerving than he cares to admit... so he agrees to give it a shot, and winds up finding far more than he ever expected to.

When it comes to computers Sayward Diaz can handle anything that they throw at her, when it comes to people unfortunately that is not the case, people scare her, unnerve her, and leave her feeling downright uncomfortable... well except one person anyway. The moment Bennett comes into her life she begins to experience things she never knew were possible, he understands her need for distance, her paranoia about being physical, and he accepts it, but also helps her to understand the benefits of it too. Their relationship is a little unconventional, but it works for them, so they embrace it as best they can, all while trying to keep themselves safe from the cartel that is determined to hunt Sayward down.

Mine To Save is an emotionally rich story about two troubled souls that come together in desperate times and wind up finding a missing piece of themselves that they had no idea needed to be found. The moment these two appeared on the page I was taken with them and their beautifully crafted, yet sometimes tragic, story, it had Ms. Gardin's trademark emotional depth, and nail biting action, but it also had a very palpable feel to it that I just could not ignore. Since meeting Bennett and Sayward in a previous installments and learning all their little intricacies I was anxious to see how they would blend together, how they could function as a couple, and I have to admit I was pleased with their pairing. This might just be my favorite installment to this series yet, it had everything special that the previous installments had, but this one just spoke to me on a different level, and left me so moved...and also left me quite anxious to see what is in store for these characters in the next addition!
Highly recommend this one, it is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

I love this series! Suspense, intrigue, action, heat...lots of heat. This book has it all. If you haven't read this series, do yourself a favor and pick all 3 of them up, you won't be disappointed.
Neither Bennett nor Sayward fit into your 'typical couple' box. These two are real, they're flawed, they have their hang ups and issues, but for two people who are generally independent, there's just something about each of them that calls to the other. When the past resurfaces, Sayward is a breath away from falling apart, which is very unlike her, but against the odds, Bennett turns into her rock. In trying to gain her trust, he opens up about something that he hasn't shared with anyone but her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts.

Mine to Save is the third book of the Rescue Ops series and gives us Bennett's and Sayward's story. I really love the men and women of the Night Eagle Security! They're friends, they're family, and they have each other's backs, always. Sayward has issues with being touched, and she's brash and abrasive sometimes, but with Bennett, she's finding she wants something different. And this time, it's one of their own in trouble when Sayward's father dies, and she's a target. I loved the plot twists, and the sexiness is ramped up with these two! Each story keeps getting better!

Absolutely loved this book. It's not often that a character in a book autism, let alone any other medical/mental condition. It gave the book a little something extra. And i think the autism was well portrayed as both of my brothers are on the spectrum. I love that Sayward doesn't apologize for her awkwardness and that Bennett not knowing is completely excepting. There love is sweet and genuine. The suspense of the book was well written as with the rest of the series. It's a great addition to your library.

Mine to Save (Rescue Ops #3) by Diana Gardin is an excellent romantic suspense book. This is a well written read that offers an interesting and engaging storyline and complex characters. One amazingly wonderful aspect of this book is the Sayward character. I love authors that create unique characters that break barriers. Sayward is brilliant, talented, sexy and has autism. She is presented in a realistic and beautiful way. I love how Bennett is so caring and understanding but not pitying in his attitude. Do not miss this treasure of a read because a book like this doesn't happen everyday. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

Bennett Blacke never expected to join the ranks of Night Eagle Security, especially since he was an ex-con. Once a military man, that part of his life was over, or so he thought. His life had taken a turn and he is now working as a bartender in a bar. While tending bar one evening, a buddy comes in with the rest of the team of NES. Bennett is offered the job of a lifetime. Come work with NES on a trial basis with a unit of brothers where his special skill set could be utilized instead of squashed. Bennett is unsure because of his PTSD, which has already led him astray and landed him in prison. He was afraid of turning into the man he once had become. It takes just one member of the team, Sayward Diaz, also known as Viper, to get Bennett to say yes to the deal.

Sayward Diaz, or Viper as she is called by members of the NES team, is a skilled computer whiz and beneficial to the team. Although she is not in the field, her expertise in computers and hacking is an essential part of the team. Sayward has not had an easy childhood and having autism did not help either. Even though she was on the low end of the spectrum, she still has trouble connecting with people. When her life is put in jeopardy, the NES and Bennett will do everything in their power to protect her.

I just have to say that I absolutely loved the instant connection between Bennett and Sayward. For all intents and purposes Sayward has no clue just how desirable she is and Bennett is the first man in…OK maybe the first man ever to make her feel like a woman with needs. Bennett is the first person to ever make her feel like she wanted someone’s touch. Having autism has prevented Sayward from getting close to people. Her life was full of routines and she has her own coping mechanisms to get through things she is uncomfortable with, but with Bennett she can finally feel like she is normal for once.

The way autism is brought out into the story is done with such care and it is evident that the author, Diana Gardin has really done her research. I have a friend with autism who is on the lower end of the spectrum as well. I can relate to some of the actions and feelings that Sayward goes through as I have experienced them myself first hand through my friend. It is not often that you see an author take a risk with a character with a disorder that can effect their social interactions as social interactions are paramount to any story. MINE TO SAVE shows that autism is not just a disorder, that the person with autism, in this case, Sayward, is still a woman capable of love and feelings and having a connection with another person.

Bennett is the perfect hero for her as he is not looking to change Sayward. He accepts her for who she is. He does not treat her any differently, but he does give her the space she needs when she needs it. He can easily pick up on her ques and knows when to hold back. He is patient and kind, but he still treats her like a woman. A woman that he desires and wants in his life and he will do everything that he can to make sure she stays safe.

MINE TO SAVE is the third book in the Rescue Ops series. It is not necessary to have read the first two books to enjoy reading this new installment to the series. There are references to past things that have taken place, but it does not distract from this story. The story is told from alternating points of view which I loved as it gave me the chance to get inside both of their heads and to experience both Sayward and Bennett’s thoughts and feelings. The suspense is a slow build up and will keep you guessing with the action picking up about halfway through the story. All in all this is a 5 star read for me and I will be going back to reading the first 2 books in the series so I can catch up on the stories of the other heroes in the NES because lets face it they all sound so hot! *fans herself*

Another truly amazing book in the series! There is always so much action, intensity and emotion in these books and this book is no different. The characters are amazing, family is so important and the team is a group of people that are going to have your back at any cost. This is all amazing but there is also something more in every story just like this one. This story captures two people who both could use a little understanding for different reasons, who learn from one another and form a bond that will heal each as well as make unit all their own. She will save him just as he intends to save her and their own private unit, strength and bond will prevail! Sometimes the person you least expect to be there for you, to capture your heart and be your person is the only one it can be and its a amazing moment when it all becomes clear and your future is something you never imagined.

••••••

REVIEW: MINE TO SAVE is the third instalment in Diana Gardin’s contemporary, adult RESCUE OPS romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Night Eagle Security (NES). The Rescue Ops series is a spin-off from the author’s Battle Scars series and several characters cross over for cohesion and familiarity. This is former Special Forces explosive specialist/ bar owner Bennett Blacke, and computer hacker Sayward ‘Viper’ Diaz’s story line. MINE TO SAVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sayward and Bennett) MINE TO SAVE follows the building romance between computer hacker and NES agent Sayward ‘Viper’ Diaz, and new team member and former Special Forces explosive specialist Bennett Blacke. Years earlier, Sayward’s mother was killed by the Columbian cartel, and in the ensuing years Sayward’s father has kept hidden his daughter’s whereabouts. Fast forward to present day wherein Sayward’s father has been murdered, and her brother Marco has come looking for his sister to give her the news. Enter Bennett Blacke, NES’s new security agent, and the man who volunteers to play bodyguard to the woman that calls to his heart. What ensues is the building romance between Bennett and Sayward, and the potential fall out as the Columbian Cartel have placed a target on the Diaz family-a target aimed at our story line heroine.

Sayward Diaz was diagnosed with autism-lowest end of the spectrum- at the age of two, and therefore struggles with differences that separate her from everyone else. With a keen knack for computer hacking, Saywar is the perfect IT guru for the NES Security firm. Unable to look people in the eye, and afraid of people’s touch Sayward finds her savior in the newest member of the NES team-Bennett Blacke-a man who is willing to risk his life to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love as the Columbian Cartel sets its sights on Sayward Diaz. Bennett Blacke is the ideal man for the job as his patience and understanding go a long way to ease Sayward Diaz through the uncomfortable social and personal interactions.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Saywards’ brother Marco Diaz; NES boss Jacob Owen; Grisham Abbot and his fiancé Greta (Saved by the Seal), Dare Connors (Last True Hero) Jeremy ‘Brains’ Teague and his wife Rayne (Sworn to Protect); Ronin Shaw; bar manager Kandie; as well as the requisite evil Pablo Suarez who seeks vengeance against the Diaz family.

MINE TO SAVE is a story of family and friendship; revenge and betrayal; romance and love. The premise is intriguing and enjoyable; the characters are colorful, dynamic and real; the romance is passionate and seductive. MINE TO SAVE is a wonderful addition to Diana Gardin’s RESCUE OPS romantic suspense series. My only complaint is the amount of redundancy and repetition throughout the story.

Mine to Save is my first book by this author and I have fallen love. I love the way to book keeps you intrigued and trying to guess what's going to happen. Her writing style is just perfect. Sayward was an amazing character, I loved her from the beginning, Bennett may have been a little stand offish at first, but he was the perfect match for Sayward. I love this book and can't wait for more.

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! Oh thank you Diana Gardin for this one!!! I have loved all the books in the Rescue Ops series, but this one melted my heart in ways you can't even imagine. A story about acceptance, appreciation, respect and deep love. Bennett, a tough and rugged man who has lived hard and rough, with a special forces background that would make most weak in the knees just knowing the things that he has done. Sayward, a computer hacker who knows less of the social world, but acutely aware of how to use her computer skills to assist her team on very dangerous missions that help others. These two become acquainted when Bennett becomes a part of the rescue team that Sayward is working for. Immediately, Bennett is attracted to Sayward because of her beauty but it goes a little deeper than that for him. He recognizes something "different" about her that compels him to not only protect her, when she is put in danger, but to know her on a more personal level. Without giving too much away, Sayward has, what I would call an exceptionality. She doesn't read social cues well, doesn't feel competent in social groups or activities, struggles to understand emotions and how they should be related to certain situations or actions, but what she does understand, is the inner workings of a computer and how to achieve "anything" when using it for her work and her team. Having sad that, it is important to know that she is extremely smart, and because of this, she is able to realize that her pull to Bennett is something new. So new that she wants to learn more so she can define it to understand why she "feels" something. As with any rescue ops story, there is the danger and suspense that causes the team again to assist one of their own, Sayward. She is thrust into a horrible situation, one that has haunted her dreams as a child but has now become her present situation. How Sayward is able to handle this tragic event is amazing. Her trust for Bennett and the team and her own growth as a person has allowed her to react to this situation now as an adult in a much more confident manner. This confidence comes from the pull of her feelings for Bennett. The relationship that develops between Bennett and Sayward is not only heart warming, but so sweet and caring, as well as very intense. Only if we all could find a Bennett in our lives. Understanding, patient, willing to learn, accepting, loving, respectful, nonjudgmental and truly selfless. His desire to know Sayward and how their love evolves is a beautiful thing and touches your heart on so many levels. Sayward opens like a flower and it is abolutely breathtaking to read about. Her absolute trust in Bennett and her desire to learn from and with him is almost too much at times. This is a story that really needs to be read!! Thank you so much Diana Gardin for this one! As a teacher of expceptionalities, I commend you on your research and your portrayal of Sayward and her journey. Spot on!!! I also applaud you for Bennett's character and his approach to her and the relationship. It's a story of learning and an awareness for us about those who might be among us. An appreciation for differences, and an understanding that ALL of us can love and be loved if the right person comes into your life!! What a beautiful story of finding the right person and loving them despite anything else!!! A must read!!! I read this ARC in return for an honest review!! HOMERUN DIANA!!!

received in exchange for a honest review.

So Bennett had me melt. The way he learned about Sayward’s autism and what to do for her. How he respected her boundaries but also learned how to get close and have her feel safe. But how he respected her and protected her no matter what. He was fierce with his feelings and protection of Sayward and it was sexy and sigh worthy.

Here Bennett is trying to find balance in his life. Fear of turning into the man he was with anger he couldn’t control but also knowing his life is missing something, he agrees to join a mission when Sayward asks him. Why? His attraction to this woman and how she intrigues him. Little does he know the mission will be Sayward herself and protecting her from a past that wants to swallow her whole.

Sayward is one that stays to herself. She is lonely but knows that her family at Rescue Ops is there for her. The only person that she doesn’t stiffen around when the touch her is Bennett. He makes her feel safe and it confuses her. She is also insecure because of her feelings towards him. While this is happening, her brother comes back into her life and danger follows. Now her past is coming to her present and may change her future. She is in danger and is uncomfortable with getting help. She is also stubborn and wants to do what is right. Somehow her whereabouts are known and they shouldn't be and her life is in peril. It is Bennett that keeps her grounded and feeling safe. He is the one that risks everything for her. He makes mistakes but does all he can to make up for them. He shows her his love and respect.

The story of Sayward and Bennett is filled with danger, intrigue and love. We see Bennett find his place and at home with Sayward. Sayward finds someone who makes her feel safe and their journey to a HEA is a dangerous one. They make mistakes, let insecurities come into play but also fight to get back to one another. The characters are ones you like and some you feel for. Their story and attraction is sweet and hot and Sayward and Bennett just have you in their moments from the beginning.

I loved this book. It was just that simple. It was different from other books I have read in that Sayward is on the Spectrum. She was one of my favorite characters. Even with her dislike for social settings, this woman is a fighter and she is spunky. Then we have Bennett who I am so thrilled we are getting. He was so intriguing and I loved the chance to get to know him better.

The writing was as per usual wonderful. The story is unique and has a good amount of suspense and heat. It just had a different feel from other books and I loved it. I can't wait to get more of the NES's stories. Each one just gets better and better. The best part is each book is a standalone. If you want the most out of the stories though I would recommend reading them in order. I would highly recommend this series and this book.

I took my time with this story because I knew I wanted to enjoy Bennet and Say ward's journey wholeheartedly.

Sayward is a little different than most heroines but no less amazing. Bennet is a man with honor and a massive capacity to love and that makes their story so good.

This is a book I wish I could re read for the first time all over again.

The author writes from the two leads different points of view and each chapter is titled with the who will be speaking to keep readers from getting confused.

I enjoyed the author created a female characters who has issues more than broken home and past. She struggles with Autism. The author was able to capture the intelligence and the compulsions a lot of people with autism have. She made Sayward very likable and Bennett very caring when his past said otherwise.

The story its self failed to pull me in leaving wondering the purpose of the story and the characters. For the first several chapters the story pulled along dragging readers with it. Mine to save I found lacking in pace which caused this reader to stop reading.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Foever Yours

Sayward is one blunt little lady, "...I stare up at him with determination. “Yes, Bennett. I want you to eff me.” Bennett could be the sweetest man, "he takes one look at my red-rimmed eyes and splotchy face and his expression crumbles. “eff, baby. What’d I do?” Bennett is just sometimes so eager to be with his woman, “it’s been over a week.” My voice drops low as my eyes rake over her goddess-like body. “I need to taste every effing inch of you.” I loved this book, Bennett was sexy, sweet and a alpha man.

I LOVED this book , this couple Sayward and Bennett are now my favorite from this author. They just seem to connect on all levels. This was a fast-paced, action packed, non-stop high energy read. Its everything I anticipated but these two together was a beautiful relationship. Bennett is on a trail bases to join the Eagle Security team , he is an explosive expert. Sayward aka Viper is a hacker/ tech genius who already works for the Team. In the story we learn all about Sayward and her family in Columbia, that she had to flee from. She needs to go back to Columbia to say goodbye to her Father, but with the cartel still intack the team must protect their own, Viper.
Sawyard does suffer from Autism , she has issues with social situation and eye contact or contact at all. Sawyard is a beautiful women, with a huge heart. Bennett OMG he built her up so much and was gentle and just perfect for her. I had chills reading most of this unforgettable read. I didn't want to end, I need more of Bennett and his Alpha protective buns. I happily read this ARC to share my love for this story.

Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Mine to Save by Diana Gardin pairs reclusive bartender Bennett Blacke with the socially-graceless Night Eagle Securities tech savant Sayward Diaz in a fast-paced, high-stakes romance that will ensnare readers. This is the third book in Gardin’s Rescue Ops series, and for my money, it’s the one that stands out the most.

The highlight of this story isn’t the mounting suspense or the plot that sucks you in, but rather the romantic pairing of the prickly, ex-Special Forces soldier and the moderately autistic hacker. Bennett is the prototypical alpha male. But despite his broody, dominant, demanding demeanor, Sayward is able to slip past all his defenses; he’s instantly taken by the woman known as Viper. Conversely, Sayward is a unicorn, the absolute definition of unique; she’s awkward, unrefined, unrepentantly honest, and one-of-a-kind. But her diagnosis, her residence on the spectrum, is what makes her so truly rare. And it’s Gardin’s innate ability to imbue ALL of her characters with dignity and respect, regardless of their issues or baggage, that makes her characters authentic and relatable and her stories leap off the pages, despite situations that defy every day scenarios. It was a thing of beauty to watch Bennett gain Sayward’s trust, to witness their relationship grow despite the personal issues each of them carried and all of the hurdles they faced.

Credit to Gardin for imagining both male and female protagonists so vastly different from the typical romance-novel stereotypes. Sayward was charming and, despite her oddities, accessible to all readers. And readers won’t be able to deny Bennett’s magnetism, despite his stand-offish behaviors. Plus, the chemistry between these two was explosive (and not just because that was our boy Bennett’s military specialty). Once again, Gardin brings her A-game, delivering another sexy, swoonworthy story that’s the perfect blend of action and romance.

At last a heroine who is not a cookie cutter character. Sayward is a highly functioning Autistic female. Whilst human interaction may be outwith her wheelhouse, put her in front of a computer and she will blind you with data. And that nickname...Viper is very apt.

Bennett has been a bit of a dark horse up to now. But we finally see why he fell from grace and landed behind a bar. But he clearly sees beyond Sayward's cranky, awkward outer shell. He has some betrayals of his own to deal with but still feels the need to protect her from her own childhood ghosts.

They get in their on way sometimes, trying to protect the other and hurting themselves in the process. With family dysfunctions, spousal betrayal and cartel conniving - there is something for everyone. Really can't wait to see how the other NES team members fall for their other halves!
