Author E.H. Reinhard can never go wrong with a solid Lt. Carl Kane (Dedicated to death) series outing. "Cause and Effect", which wild wooley at times was a solid police procedural complete with a heavy accelerator pedal and certainly no brake pedals. At just over 230 roller coaster pages this tale flew through chapter after chapter. Tampa homicide detective Carl Kane is fearless chasing down his suspects closing out his cases. Kane and his team are called out to investigate a mysterious and massive jewelry store robbery leaving the husband and wife proprietors murdered. Lt. Kane suspects some type of inside job from the onset. With a plot filled with car chases, shootouts, and some pretty evil bad guys, "Cause and Effect", more than delivered as a quality suspense thriller. Although Hank Rawlings seem to get lost inside the plot sometimes this one had some very well developed criminal characters. Four stars out of a possible five stars for master story teller E.H. Reinhard's Lt. Carl Kane's dedicated to death series book four. I wasn't all too thrilled with his new series featuring Lt. Harrington, but I'll stick with Carl Kane and Hank Rawlings every time.

Must read!

I have read police procedural books before but not like this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It's 6:06am and I am just gonna get to sleep! The split second decisions they have to make and why going through their heads while staying in real time and keep thinking on the fly. Very exciting! My heart was beating hard while reading fast and keeping up. I'm about to go get another one to read!

Check out all his books plus those written under Erik Racker. If you want fantastic police procedure not drowned in the angst-driven personal lives of the crime fighters these books are it. Really normal people doing extremely difficult jobs well. Plus gritty interesting crimes jump on board for the ride :)

Stupid is as stupid does "Forest Gump"

Enjoyed the story. My headline refets to the two dumb ass thieves and murderer's
My only criticism is the redundancy that occurs when explaining the process of communicating with Kanes felliw officers.

Kane is hunting the murder again.

Kane becomes involved in a jewelry heist that expands to murder. His suspect prices hard to find. This is the forth book I've read by E.H. Reinhard and each book gets better that the last.

This book actually isn't as gory as the other books I have read from this series. Until the very, very, very end. I really like the banter between Carl and Hank. They make me laugh!!

Good

I have read several books by Reinhardt and I enjoyed them and I like this one also. I especially liked the character of Joe Pippa, which showed him to be a narcissist sociopath.
