Having my would-be husband walk out on me at the altar was bad enough, but finding out that my maid of honor was the tramp he ran off with was devastating.

Still reeling from the shock of my life, Jones, an old high school crush sweeps me off my feet and onto the sticky, hard surface of an empty bar counter. Embraced by Jones’ strong, athletic arms our spontaneous night of passion felt like something more than just a one night stand. When I awoke to find him missing, I felt my heart torn out for a second time.

I tried to move on with my life, to forget about Jones’ rock-hard abs and solid torso, the salty musk of his sweat… but the urge to contact him grew stronger and stronger with each day. I couldn’t tell if my feelings for him were real or if they were just a reaction to my wounded pride. Either way, I didn’t care, I had to see him again. At first, I was hesitant to pursue him, but I eventually called and we agreed to meet up. He was out of town — at football practice. It turns out that my old crush had become a professional jock — he was some kind of star football player. I really needed to watch more sports.

After a whirlwind romance, a few more sweaty nights together, and even a run-in with the paparazzi, it seemed like we might make the perfect couple, but something wasn’t right. I had been keeping a secret from him, a secret that might drive him away forever — I was pregnant.

Was I destined to be a single mom trapped in a small town for the rest of my life, or would my well-muscled hero come to me rescue yet again?

1 -¿EN SERIO? -estrellas

*SPOILER ALERT*

description

description

description

description

description

description

description

description

Kyra gets dumped at the altar when her husband-to-be David, decides to run away with her best friend and maid of honor, Tam. The bestman and David's best friend Jones, sticks around to make sure Kyra gets home safely. Jomes and Kyra have always had an easy going and amicable friendship since their younger days and they end up having a one night stand. Jones returns to career as a sucussful football player and Kyra spends the next few weeks in a haze trying to overcome David and Tam's betrayal.

Then she discovers that she's pregnant and seeks out Jones. Ther reconnect romantically and eventually she tells him that he's going to be a father. He, of course, acts like a total ass and she storms off deciding to keep the baby and raise it herself. The whole fiasco takes a toll on her when in spite of her parents' support, she gets a tongue lashing from the rest of her extended family. Jones comes to his senses and reaches her just in time to rescue her from breaking down. He reveals he has secretly always wanted her but has backed off because of David and that her news had caught him by surprise. He apologizes, she forgives him and they set off to live their lives together happily ever after.

Overall it's a good book for some light reading and the romance aspect is not too bad either though I did think that Jones could have made a little more effort considering he had a crush on her like forever.

Dumped at the altar for her best friend, she seeks comfort in the arms of the best man! Who is a football star, and their one night stand leads to a pregnancy! I love stories like this. And the way they describe how small towns are is spot on, it's ridiculous. Anyways, for a not very long story, it packed quite a punch. I really liked it, good weekend read.
I got an arc of this book, btw.

The day of Kyra's wedding to David was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. At the altar though, David decides he can't marry her. Come to find out he had been cheating on Kyra with her best friend Tam. Once everyone left, Jones, a friend since high school, a football star and also the best man, came to check on her. After getting drunk together, they end up having sex on the bar at the hotel (which was closed). It was a mind blowing night for both, but Jones left before she woke up in the morning. Weeks went by and then Kyra doesn't get her period and she buys a pregnancy test. She calls Jones to see if they could see each other when she went to the city. He happens to be on a break from football for a bit, so he's thrilled have her come visit. She knows she should tell him, but they end up having a few says of hot and wild sex. Finally she gets up the nerve to tell him and he's shocked and angry she waited to tell him. She goes back home and months go by without contact. At a family dinner, her grandmother and cousin are treating her rudely about being a single mom. Jones shows up and rescues her. What happens now? You have to read this story. So worth it! Unexpected was the first book that I got to read by the author April Fire. It was a good short story. If you like sports romance with a little twist, you will enjoy Unexpected. I felt bad for Kyra at the beginning of the story. I think that is the horror story in love, being left at the alter by David. And when she realizes who he left her for, was a shocker and made things that much worst. All Kyra wanted to do was forget the bad, and for once have fun. That is exactly what she gets from her high school crush Jones. It was hot and steamy night of pleasure. Then oops...a surprise baby on the way!

Unexpected story line was written well. This was a great short story to read in the morning with my cup of coffee. I loved that the story did not feel as it was rushed through. I got a book read and felt the ending did it justice. I would recommend this book to anyone that needs a little bit of fire, and drama in their day. I truly enjoyed Kyra and Jones love story!

The story is very short and some of the scenarios are not believable. For such a short story their is a lot going on. Including a brides worse nightmare to hooking up with your high school crush that happens to be the best man. And of course the unexpected baby.

It is the day of Kyra’s wedding and her husband to be, David, has just told her that he can’t marry her. While she was standing at the altar, in front of all of their guests. After running to her hotel room, in an understandable state of extreme upsetness, she texts her best friend and maid of honor, Tam.

Tam shows up a few minutes after the text and before Kyra could start saying “Why did he do this to me”, she reveals that David and her were together and she was the reason David cancelled the wedding. Which leaves Kyra in a state of disbelief. So, what does she do….she starts drinking and ignoring everyone who comes to her door. Except for Jones.

Jones is a huge footballs star and happens to be David and Kyra’s friend from high school. He was supposed to be David’s best man but, like everyone, was left stunned when David called the wedding off at last-minute and left with Tam. Jones is concerned for Kyra and suggests that she goes to where the reception was going to be held and have a few drinks.

Well, that ended up with Kyra and Jones having sex on the bar and then moving to her hotel room. He left Kyra in the morning with a note and she moves on with her life. She has gotten over David and Tam’s betrayal, well for the most part, and Jones’s not so smooth move the morning after.

Then she realizes that she hasn’t had her period and she is always like clockwork. So she goes, buys a pregnancy test and takes it. Guess what….she’s pregnant and Jones is the father.

So, she contacts Jones with every intention of telling him. Instead, they spend a week screwing each other’s brains out. Then, in a fit of anger after Jones told her that he was seeing someone else, she tells him. Saying that he doesn’t take the news very well is an understatement and she heads home with every intention of being a single mother.

Want to know the rest of this short story….read it

I loved Kyra. To be honest, I really wondered how she didn’t just go insane nutso on her scumbag ex and her ex best friend. I really don’t because if it were me, I would have killed them. Well, I wouldn’t have gone that far but I would have at least beaten Tam down. I do think that her sleeping with Jones was part of the shock of what happened….at first. And her reaction when she found out she was pregnant….I think every single women who have had an unplanned pregnancy can relate and probably have had the same reaction.

Jones came off as a tool until the restaurant scene. I honestly thought that he wasn’t going to step up by his reaction when Kyra told him that she was pregnant. But, thinking about it, how would you react if you were told by a girl that you had just spent the week having awesome sex with that she was pregnant. Because the condom failed (see, life here!!!).

The sex between Jones and Kyra was off the wall hot. And it seems that Kyra was into having sex in public places. A bar where her wedding reception is supposed to be and an airplane…hmmmm. LOL.

The end of the book was great. I do love HEA’s

How many stars will I give Unexpected: Secret Baby of a Star Athlete: 4

Why: I really liked reading this book. My attention was kept by the hot sex, the characters and the plotline. For a short story, it really kept to the plotline and I liked that. It was also a very quick read.

Will I reread: Yes

Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes

Age range: Adult

Why: Explicit sex and language. No violence

Unexpected was my first April Fire read and it will not be my last. This is a quick hot read that involves a very sexy football player named Jones and a sweet girl named Kyra. The story has tons of drama, heartbreak, humiliation, and hot sex. I recommend this story for anyone wanting a quick steamy read.

The truly Unexpected

Overall rating: 5
Story quality: 4.74
Steam under the collar: 4.5
Character development: 4.75

I loved this book and it played with my emotions as I flipped the pages un able to put it down once I started it. The book had me filipin as fast as I could to find out what was going to happen next! Kyra and Jones relationship is the classic story of unrequited love until the unexpected happens. The unexpected continues throughout the novel from getting left at the altar, to the arms of an old friend and then the pregnancy that changes everything. This book is one page flipping dilemma after another and it will drag your heart through them all.

Great read

I was drawn into this book from the very beginning. Kyra had her heart broken right at the beginning of the book, on her wedding day! Finding out Jones had always had a crush on her but backed off for his former friend (her ex-fiancé), was adorable, but the way her reacted to her made me fume and I just wanted to backhand him so badly. There were some ups and downs in this short story, but it had a great happy ending. Thank you for sharing this story and I'm so glad that I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
