James Grey is one of a small handful of genuine male authors writing erotica. His work is known both for its honesty and for its mix of female and male perspectives.

His most successful books thus far, notably his best-selling Emma series, are written from a woman's point of view. Not only do these popular novels strike a chord with female readers looking to explore their fantasies, but they reveal much about the sexually liberated and powerful women in whom this author so fervently believes.

Grey also lays his own innermost lusts, hottest experiences and darkest disappointments on the line for all to see: passion, ecstasy, angst and unsugared failure. If you want to know what a man thinks, feels and desires when it comes to women and sex, look no further than some of his short stories.

He may write his erotica under a nom-de-plume, but Grey has been widely published by magazines and newspapers around the world for over two decades. He still spends much of his working life writing about topics other than hardcore sex. This includes travel books under a different author name.

Grey began writing erotica in the run-up to Christmas 2013, inspired by a recent visit to a sauna in Germany and prompted by a subsequent period of ennui at his aunt's house in France. His self-published author ego was then born on a grim, hung-over New Year's Day in England, when he uploaded Hot Wet Touches to the Kindle Store.

Connect with him online - you'll find details at the back of his books - and you might even find a picture of the well-travelled Grey at a book signing event.

Grey is in his late thirties and lives in a European capital city. And yes, he likes to keep you guessing. But if you want to know something, why not simply ask him? ;)

Hmmmmm

I do like Emma and this series was entertaining. I thought it had a little purge of details when there was an opportunity to describe the opulence. That felt a bit unnecessary. The maturation of Emma was nice. It was a well received exploration and overall the positives far outweighed the drawbacks for me. Good fun.

Awesome!

I enjoyed the entire series and now you have me wondering if Charles and Emma will get their happy ending together? Will he try to dominate her now the she is feeling so empowered? Please write another follow up to this series!

I have loved reading Emma's books and I was very excited for this one. I really loved it, once again this author has crafted such an interesting, sexy, empowering  story that had me hooked from start to finish. I have very much loved watching Emma grow and in this book she really lets go of everything and becomes who she wants to be. There is plenty of twists and challenges and some very sexy scenes. Overall it was a great ending to these books and I would definelty reccommend having a read.

This book was good but some parts I didn’t like at all. For example I hated the whole prince Harem thing. I like the Charles story line and wish end differently with them.

Not many people have read this, as it it not released till July the 8th. But as the author, I'd say I know it pretty intimately! I probably don't qualify for an opinion, but I look forward to hearing yours...

Was this a teen coming of age story?

I am due the first book in the series has added a star or two to this book. Obviously, the first in this series carried the series. With book two the author decide to switch to romantic thriller than continue with erotic adventures. I continue on to discover the mystery man and hope for harm story. To say this was disappointing would an understatement with scenes that were clinically written and dull. The theme throughout that all her non couple clients were single was ludicrous.

I was hoping for more. I just got bored with the story. There was just not a lot of thought to it. It seemed rushed and ends tied in. The first book of the series was great. I kind of think I should have stopped there.

Written in first person from Emma's POV, this series must be read in order. Readers should note that this is not a romance series and there is not a romantic HEA. The focus of this series is Emma's s3xual awakening and her journey to acceptance of her desires and her satisfaction with the life she chooses. These were my first books by this author and really the first time I have read erotica written by a male author. I will say, there is a difference.

Most of the series, and all of the physical scenes read like the fantasies of a teenage boy. They are hot but there isn't a lot of depth to them. Emma's journey of self discovery also seems pretty shallow at times. For a woman of 26 and 27, she doesn't seem to adult very well. Her emotions are inconsistent regarding some of her clients and even her friends. She enjoys the physical connections with a variety of client but occasionally struggles with guilt and shame because of it. I found her personal journey interesting, I just wanted more. There are some twists and turns along the way and book two ends on a significant cliffhanger. I found my feelings about this series mixed. I wanted so much more yet it was like a train wreck and I couldn't stop reading. I think part of me kept holding out hope that the story would gain the missing depth if I just kept reading a little more. Ultimately, the series left me unsatisfied.

End of Emma's exciting story

The story continues with resolution of cliffhanger (yes I was right! It was him) the rest of the story becomes more interesting towards the end when we witness Emma mature in her approach to profession she'd chosen and the ideas she produces are quite challenging and thoughts provoking. It is very nice conclusion without the classic HEA but nevertheless with Emma successful and happy even without Charles. It was really good to see her journey thorough the story and gradual metamorphosis into confident, independent and powerful women not afraid to express and shamelessly support and justify her beliefs and life choices, whatever they are.

As such it deserves shameless 5 stars!
The whole series is definitely worth reading if you don't mind scorching sex scenes.

Is it just me... Or has Sir Grey completely robbed us of the descriptive steamy scenes in this book...

Like... Majority of them were like 10-15 lines long, some even less. Also... it feels like there were so many loose ends that were just tied in the strangest ways... like I honestly don't get how the situation with 'mystery man' wasn't explored more? Like Sir Grey just threw us into this hot/slightly weird dom/sub relationship, unmasks him and then doesn't discuss it later??? Like... all that build up... for nothing? I was expecting it to be one of her hot professors lmaoooo.

And that stuff with Charles? Honestly I was a tad bit lost.

I feel this last book could have been a bittt better. Honestly the only scenes I really loved from this book were the harem scenes. #PRINCEYOUSUF4THEWIN!!!

Perfect ending

This really was the perfect ending to this series. Throughout these three books, we were able to read about Emma's transformation, and it really happened so naturally. This book is not smut written for the sake of smut; it's about a woman finding herself and where she belongs in the world. I love that this book didn't end with the same old boring HEA and a perfect Prince charming coming in on his white horse to save the damsel. Emma is perfectly capable of taking care of herself, and she doesn't need saving. I highly recommend this series!

I loved this last book in Emma's series. She has gone up so far in my opinion. This last book starts off mysteriously and a bit scary but then eases into the hottest and most appealing storyline. Heaps of excitement and intrigue and on to a thrilling and scorching hot appointment in a foreign land with a mysterious man and a hillariously sexy adventure.

what a woman she is!!!! Much more than you think and you will stay up very late reading and enjoying this latest James Grey offering and you will not be disappointed in any way. Five stars well deserved!!!

Just something about Emma

I flew through this book. Emma is an easy character to admire and love. Women could all take a hint from how Grey has written her growth and personal acceptance of life and what power she holds as a woman. We all have that potential if we come to full self awareness like he has written Emma. There is just something about Emma that is inspiring in the best way. I’m sad that this is the end of her series and hope someday there will be a new series where she is the Lucy as she guides a few chosen girls through Cranleigh house. Great writing!!!

So like other reviews, while I enjoyed this book I felt that the ending was rushed.

The mystery that had built up was, in my mind, left unresolved in a variety of ways. The two main characters, Emma and Charles didn't end up where I expected and the mystery man was meh. Also, the least believable part of the plot was the ending for me. I can't really see how any woman gets to have that ending with this career.

That said, the writing and scenes, etc... remained very good.

Her Calling by James Grey

### 5 Stars ###

A great finale to this series, secretly I'm a little sad Emma's story is now over. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books by this author. He certainly knows how to spin an addictive, sexy read full of chemistry. Maybe there'll be some spin-offs from some of the other girls ? I need Petra's story.

Great read, well worth that one-click.

A truly hot book.

This is the final book in the trilogy and is as sexy as hell. I didn't think the ending would be as it was pity we will never know if Emma gets together with Charles but we can all imagine in our own minds. Love Prince Youssef and his harem would have thought it possible well maybe.

The entire series is excellent.

It is amazing how there are people in this world can just let go of everything and become what they are truly meant to be and Emma is lucky to be that person.

With every turn of a page a new adventure comes to light. You feel her deception with Charles. You feel her need for release.

Great read!

Powerful final book

It's only right when you think about it the final chapter and epilogue seal the tale of Emma at a fitting place. It won't be for everyone and after all these books have never been about graphic sexuall encounters more the growth and development.

Sorry the story ends!

Hot, hot, hotness thru all 3 books. Definitely recommend if erotica tickles you.
The ending however is powerful and wished I'd read it years ago (well before it was actually written).

Happy conclusion

James Grey did not disappoint with this third instalment of Emma’s rise to true happiness. It has been a pleasure spending few hours/days in this story. James Grey is a great writer and a true storyteller in the erotica genre. This book literally had everything.

I love the story line, following Emma confidence grow during her time as an escort. The story of her time in the garden was enjoyable!w to read.

I have given the rate because the story line was so good.
In all the stories the friendship is believable.

This was my favorite Emma book out of the three in the series. Although I wish it hadn't ended the way it did. But if he (James Grey) ever chose to, he could certainly pick up right where it left off again, which would be wonderful. Great series.

A Delightful Romp!

A well written tale, sort of Tom Jones meets Fanny Hill for brunch with the Happy Hooker.
Fantasy on a level the many erotic reads miss entirely. Emma breezes through her life unconcerned with scorn.

Not my story to write

Perhaps not as enjoyable as the previous books but necessary for a conclusion. I was a little disappointed in the story and I suspect that the female brain always wants romance whereas James Grey gives us practicality.

Awesome

First time reading this genre and loved books 1 & 3. What I liked best is the growth in Emma emotionally & sexually. Her empowerment of her life. A must read.
