Pressure, worry, exhaustion...not exactly what you signed up for.
In The Happy Mom Mindset, you'll learn to recognize the "Mom Traps" that keep you from experiencing the joy and fulfillment you’d hoped for. You’ll understand why you feel frustrated, rather than fulfilled, so much of the time. This simple and practical approach will help you build your mom confidence, eliminate power struggles, and create more joy in your life so you can (finally) show up as the mom you really want to be.
Based on Molly Claire’s work with her clients, The Happy Mom Mindset will show you how
• Eliminate ineffective (and exhausting) patterns of worry and guilt • Create more calm within the chaos of family life • Be your own person and a great mom at the same time
It’s time for you to think, feel and be happy!
"This book contains the answer for women wanting a better experience of motherhood. Molly has taken life-changing tools and concepts and applied them in a personal way specific to moms. The stories she shares of her own clients will make it easy for you to make the same personal shifts on your own. I’ve seen first-hand the work Molly does with her clients and I’m thrilled to see this work in print." -Brooke Castillo, founder The Life Coach School
This book is a quick read and has practical advice, with examples, for moms who get caught in the traps of our own assumptions and beliefs.
I'm glad that this book emphasizes the importance of self-care, and dedicates an entire chapter to it. I know too many moms who feel guilty when they take time for themselves.
Chapter 6 was very thought-provoking for me, on owning our choices instead of feeling resentful because we think "I have to." I think it's extremely important that this chapter is not misinterpreted. I worry that it could reinforce the message that "moms just need to change their perspective." I think that is only one part of the solution. I also think that we need to move toward a partnership model of families where spouses and children do their part because they are a member of the family (notice I said "do their part," not "help their wife/mom").
I'm definitely going to read this book again to remind myself of how easy it is to fall into the mindset traps that keep us from joy
I highly recommend this book to all moms. Not because the writing is amazing, but because it will get you thinking about how you think about and treat yourself. It challenges you to start creating better thought patterns and shows you how. It will encourage you to start being your best self and believe in your own abilities and worth.
Just reading it won’t be very beneficial though. If you aren’t going to download and use the accompanying workbook, it’s not worth it. Although it’s a quick, easy read, you shouldn’t read it quickly. Take your time and practice doing what you’re reading and writing about as you go.
I loved the concept and format of this book. I almost wish I could read it to myself every week as a reminder that it's all about the way I think and that I have the control. There were some great quotes and major insight for me. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars and won't be reading it every week is that It was set up just a tad dry for me... just as any other self help book.
This book had many great ideas for Moms who feel like their lives are being taken oven by their families needs. I only gave it a 3 stars because I personally had already heard most of the concepts in the book so it was nothing new for me. This was a wonderful book for anyone struggling with being a Mom. I recommend this for anyone.
I heard of Molly Claire on Jody Moore’s podcast. I really liked this book but I will have to read it again long with the workbook to get more out of it.
