A sleeping Titan has woken and with him a battle as old as the ages begins. As he gathers powers to him, Cora and Darrien are plunged into new worlds that threaten to destroy the people they love…

Cora Reed just found out that she is part Mer, part Siren, and is supposed to be the next in line for the throne of an underwater kingdom. If that wasn’t enough to grapple with, she is forced to come to grips with a betrothal to a man she doesn’t love, Mer and Siren powers awakening in her that she can’t control, and a connection with her sister Ana that opens a window to the world of the Sirens and a danger beyond Cora’s wildest nightmares. Will Cora find the strength to stand against those that seek to destroy her and her loved ones? Will her love for Darrien survive it?

Darrien Locke is ready to sacrifice everything for the woman that he loves and help her on her journey to the throne. But, his plans take a hit, when he is sent back to Titus Prime to get to the bottom of another assassination attack against Zale, Cora’s father. With his brother Tyde, he seeks to find whoever is behind the attacks. When their search unearths a family secret, that shakes the foundation of who they are and where they come from, Darrien’s plans must change. With more at risk than ever, what will Darrien do to keep those he loves safe?

Things I firmly believe in:

1. Nothing is more delicious than a vanilla iced cap in the morning.

2. Reading romance is not a commentary on your marriage, but a safe way of experiencing a sex life that you couldn't have safely in your single days.

3. TikTok might be the death of me...or my phone, depending on how long I'm on the can without my charger.

4. My children are my joy and continue to teach me more about the world and myself than I ever thought possible.

5. Being a parent is freaking exhausting.

6. Communication is the most important thing in any relationship. Without it...not good. Just ask my amazeballs, romantic, hottie of a hubby. Love you, babe!

7. If you've made it this far, we are now friends. Come over to Facebook to inform me of our bestie status! I mean that!

8. Eight already? Bestie, did you tell me we're friends, yet?

9. I will say "yes" to going to Chapters any day.

YA or NA mermaid fantasy (undecided)
Dual pov
Mer vs Siren ongoing war
Inspired by Greek mythology
MC has been raised as a human
Demigods
Mind control
Twins separated
Clunky writing, needs a lot of editing
Overly dramatic
Magical binding engagement
Mer classist society
Siren prejudice
Love triangle
Creating overpowered mcs
Political intrigue and treason
Written in 1st person, past tense

So much screaming. Why does everyone scream? I'm being assaulted and should sue.

The writing is as uncomfortable to read as the overblown dramatics. Unnecessary or awkward descriptions meet weird dialogue and wrongly timed outbursts and reactions! The lack of common sense by everyone involved is painful.

And the weird purity thing continues 🤮

Once again, everyone's emotions are unregulated af! They think, act and react like no person I have ever met (thankfully).

This has some cool ideas, but it sounds like it was written by a teenager! The author is mostly focused on the romance drama: the feelings, the yearning, the adversities, the jealousy, the parental drama, the rivals, the "protect your virtue", the overprotectiveness to the point of blaming other people for the dangers the love interest gets herself into (accountability who?). For example, what is this cringy nonsense in the quote below?

"I ached, I wanted him to stay so badly my body hurt. He was my drug, I needed him to get through the day… I wasn’t prepared for the pain of withdrawal."

In the end, it's been two books of little action. We already had two main characters who were going to be stronger than most, they have barely had fights with real enemies, and they are already leveling up their powers so soon??

The second book in the water series – it's getting better. Unfortunately, not the typos and gammatical errors. Please, dear author, take more care or get some volunteer readers to sort those out, it really is an unnecessary downer for the story.
I enjoyed the second book even more – maybe because there was a big focus on Darrien's development. But I like Cora too. She is so brave and a good person.
I try to keep this review spoiler free but you are in for a lot more evil showing up, a lot more power manifesting and more greek mythology.
Just be aware that this book is not the last in the series. I would actually like to know how many books are planned.

The plot thickens......

Cora and Darrien, Bree and the rest of the Mer have a huge task before them. Cora just found out that she will be queen of the Mer city when her father passes. The father she didn't know was still alive. She falls for her guardian, who was sent by her father to protect her and bring her home. She must die before she awakens into her powers and her mermaid self. What a way to go.

The story jumps back and forth from land to under water, but it's easy to follow. Her lineage is revealed and not in a nice, happy manner. Things get confusing with twins and ugly grandparents, but the return of Darrien's parents is remarkable. It's an interesting story, and I like the characters.

Read on my friends.

Amazing story!

Part two of this series was fantastic! I did notice more spelling errors, but for the most part it didn't take too much away from the story. The plot was excellent! There was a lot of action the entire time. It made me want to keep reading and not stop. The romance was in this book as well, along with a second guy. I felt myself getting frustrated with Cora due to her feelings towards the second guy, but I kept hoping she would stay with Darrien. Revealing the "boss" bad person was wonderful! I cannot wait to see how this plays out in the next book. I am excited to see how the romance plot will end up as well, still cheering for Darrien though!

Keeps getting better

This book is very interesting to me. It's different and the characters are well developed. I like the connection between Cora and Darrien. Now And is so mind eff by her grandma it's so sad but the author makes you see a glimpse of her struggle. I thought the 1st book in the series was ok the second book I went through and couldn't put it down i needed to know what happened right away. If you are unsure of reading it i say give it a chance I liked it a lot it's a good read. Some minor edits are needed that I caught on to but those never really bothered me anyways. It's cute read good action packed and of course romance

Mer: A Paranormal Romance (Water Series Book 2)

OMG 😳 loved this book so much… actually this whole series is spectacular … Book 2 was just as incredible as the first, both Darren and Cora coming into their powers.. I love seeing the relationships between Cora and Bree such amazing sisters and OMG LOVE ❤️ Penelope she just makes the book that much brighter … so many twists and turns, just glad I had figured out who I thought was trying to kill the king, the is just as wicked as his daughter Aurelia. Can't wait to start book 3 … I definitely recommend this book 📕 / series 📚 !!!!

So much happens both in water and on land that I was grateful for the short chapters and quick changes of POV. It felt like I was trying to watch two TV shows at once and didn't know which one to focus on because they were both so good. Cora's character is finally starting to grow and come into her powers and her personality takes on a subtle change as she becomes more assertive and outspoken. She is displaying more leadership tendencies and making more well thought out decisions on behalf of herself and her friends.

Whoa, okay

The story reels you in. It's slow but, not in a bad way. The angst and steam have definitely been turned up a touch in this book... I found myself holding my breath and fanning myself for nothing more than a kiss or two, and it was an amazing feeling.
Like I said in a previous review about this series, young adult is not usually my cuppa. But, this series is proving to be better and better with the continuation of this series.

The author has done a fabulous job. I am loving the uniqueness of this series.

Exciting, unique and well written!

I have read both books in the "Water Series" and I highly recommend them. I am not usually a big fan of Mer fantasy but this has a great cast of characters, plot and action. Fantastic!!

Read it, experience Corrien and love every other character. It'll just suck you right into Mer world.

Good story but..

Although I will continue with the series, I felt this was more of a young romantic fantasy rather than a mermaids and merman series. Many typos so u may have to re-read some lines.

This is a very natural continuation in this series. It follows the same basic path most books like this do and is once again kinda what you would expect out of a book like this. There wasn't really anything terribly remarkable about this story because we get a lot of physical conflicts and, for me, non-compelling character internal conflict. I like to see a lot more of that and it wasn't really believable to me.
