When I met the author, after listening to a story about him, I already had developed a great deal of respect for him. This book will inspire you. This book will increase your hope in the future. This book will make you smile. This book may help you appreciate more those around you. This powerful message will instill in you the importance of those around you and how it can make your life shine when you find yourself in the dark. The powerful message you will read here was a speech delivered by the author. It is so important that I offered to help this book be published. Personally, I know the importance of books. And, I know how important it is to be the author of one. As I have been privileged to be the author of 5 books at this stage of my life, 26 years old. When I met the author during dinner time while I was preparing myself to deliver an inspiring message of leadership in West Texas A&M University, his presence was memorable. His manners are timeless. His wisdom is ever expanding. His words are full of hope. His perseverance is unmatchable. His resilience is admirable. A man that shares hope, helps you grow, and stays humble, is a leader in my personal opinion. If you feel the same way feel free to share this book so others can too be benefited from its powerful message and words full of hope when they may find themselves in dark times.

About the author

David Marquez was born in London and grew up in Houston, Texas.

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in History and Government and a teaching certificate for high school history, David chose to take a risk to pursue his passion for illustration. He auditioned for an animation position on Warner Independent Pictures’ A SCANNER DARKLY, and was immediately hired.

After SCANNER David worked on a variety of small press and creator-owned comics projects, culminating in the summer of 2010 with the release of his first major project, SYNDROME, a graphic novel from Archaia Entertainment. His work on SYNDROME and DAYS MISSING:KESTUS (also through Archaia) earned David a nomination for the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award, given out each year at the Eisner Awards ceremony at San Diego Comic Con.

David is currently working under an exclusive contract with Marvel Comics. His projects include ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN and ALL-NEW X-MEN, both with acclaimed writer Brian Michael Bendis.

David resides in Austin, Texas with his fiancée, Tara, and dogs Shisha and Chomps. He fills what little free time that’s left practicing Aikido and working on his first creator-owned original graphic novel THE JOYNERS IN 3D, written by his close friend and SYNROME collaborator R.J. Ryan.
