Lily's world changes when she befriends four boys after moving to the small Cornish village of Trenance. She's able to accept that they are fairies (or fae as Nate will insist) but she refuses to accept what they say she is. Lily is not a Seer. She isn't magical and she isn't like them. No matter what they think. But Lily will have to face things that will shake her foundation to the core. Lies, betrayal, and fear. But she's not alone: Nate, Matt, and the twins, Josh and Jake, are beside her now, and they won't let her face this alone. The only problem with that is that Lily is starting to fall for all them.
Denial is the second book in Lily's story. This is a Reverse Harem paranormal romance. 129,500 words. Edited by Jennifer Leigh Jones and Rebecca Stewart of Bookends Editing.
Im done. I'm sorry I can't do it any more. The 46% of the book that was straight up blind denial was painful in a bad way. The rest of it just didn't hold my attention and I finished it out of a sense of duty to the money I spent than anything else. Maybe it's a phase? I enjoyed the first book but this one just left me frustrated, a little bored, and annoyed at the time I could have spent doing something else.
Two stars because as much as I didn't enjoy it, I LOVED the correct terminology. This is the first reverse harem book to use the word polyamory. And it gets an extra star just for that
I liked 'Lily' the first book in this series. The magic was interesting, the characters awesome (Lily slightly less than the others), and the overall plot intriguing. This book however - NOPE. I can pinpoint the exact reason I didn't like it and it was Lily. I'd never been more annoyed with a book character in my entire life.
The book title was perfect because she denied her gifts for the ENTIRE book. It was so dramatic and beyond ridiculous how unaccepting she was. Again and again and again she witnessed her own magic and she refused to accept it. At one point she's like "yeah you're right I do have magic" and then the magic stops working for a click and she's like "nope I don't have any I told you so". Come on! I didn't bother reading the last chapter of this book. Lily has ruined this whole series for me and I'm too frustrated to continue.
The second book of the Seer series consists of two parts. Part one is where Lily travels to Denial land and decides to make camp there (metaphorically speaking, of course). She was so infuriating with her insistence to remain ignorant that I wanted to stop reading the book a few times. To quote Nate “it’s like talking to a brick-fucking-wall of solid denial”. And her denial wasn't focused solely on her own powers, she denied everything. It even came to a point where Nate kissed her on the lips and she saw it as a sing that he didn't want to be anything more than friends. I mean, what the fuck? What kind of logic is that? She could probably argue the color of the sky until she was blue in the face. The second part is the part of gradual acceptance. It's where Lily started to act as mature and intelligent person, thank god. There were a lot of revelations thrown her way and she dealt with it all much better than I expected. I pictured a lot of possibilities as to who Drew might be, but I never guessed his actual connection to Lily. That was surprising and I'm not yet sure how to feel about it. I don't know what to make of Drew, he does sound convincing, but I don't fully trust him. This situation reminds me too much of the similar one from the Evelyn Storm series. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it all plays out in the next book, which I hope will be out soon.
Aside from the main plot, I'm interested in the this whole world itself. There were a few mentioning of vampires being able to steal someone's soul and I wonder what else is different here. I hope there will be more explanations about the "rules" of how magic works in this world in the books to come.
We first met Lily back in the Falling for them anthology. Well I did anyway. It was a quick into into this new series that drew me in and had me dying for more. The title of this one says everything. Lily is definitely in some serious denial. So much so that you really just want to smack her. She eventually gets it together though. This has a good story line with some twists you didn't see coming. Still not sure how some of it will play out. I like how even though this is a YA, we do actually have a definitive relationship. They all know what they want. Really loving this series and can't wait for the next one.
While book one short it was quick, fun and entertaining. This book is a lot longer and it probably shouldn't have been. The biggest downside was the MC, she turns into a whiny and stubborn person that does some really stupid stuff that makes you question her ability to survive. While in the first book she was naive but still enduring, in this book she was just a willful idiot.
I finished reading denial by RM Walker and i loved it!! i am now craving for the third book! I can really recommend this series if you haven´t already read this yet. i love love love the twins , they are such goof balls 😆 i want to be between them instead of Lily 😏
This is a fantastic follow up to Lily. It was great to read about Lily and her boys again,it takes up where book one left off. The characters are fantastic I am a little in love with Joshua, Jacob, Nate and Matt, they love Lily and are ever so protective of her. I love how they look after her and cherish her, although Nate is extremely bossy.
Lily learns a lot in this book, she has a lot to deal with, there are twists and turns galore with excitement and drama. The burgeoning romance between Lily and her boys is beautiful but not without its troubles.
This is a fantastically well written story, it spits a lovely length that you can really lose yourself in. The story is really heating up and I am so excited for book three. I highly recommend this book, but you do need to read book one first. RM Walker is a very talented writer and her books show just how talented she is
I really enjoyed the continuation of Lilys story. There was a couple surprises in this book. One i did not see coming at all. So whens the next one come out?a
Denial is book 2 in RM Walker's Seer Series. It picks up basically where book 1 left off with Lily and her guys. She has accepted that Nate, Matt, and the twins, Josh and Jake are fae, but refuses to believe that she is anything special herself. There's no way she can be a Seer or do magic. Her fits are epileptic; they are not visions. Despite everything that the boys and Jonah tell her and the evidence that is mounting, she is in complete and firm denial.
Lily's attraction for the boys and their's for her continue to grow. Their relationships are addressed and kisses take place. The boys are the one part of her life that she is certain about. Everything else is surrounded by confusion. A revelation occurs that destroys every thing she has ever believed to be true about her life. Trust is destroyed. Lily is completely overwhelmed.
I love the guys. The way they have her back and their obvious devotion is so sweet. I adore Nate and his intensity. His frustration amuses me (I am sympathetic to him). The twins are fun and their insistence that they are "one person" is fascinating. And Matt just seems to know what Lily needs at any given time. He's pretty perfect. Lily was irritating at times during the book. Her dismissiveness of what's happening around her drove me crazy. I am more for facing life head on. Her fear based denial verged on ridiculous. I understand doubting at first, but the constant re-working of her surroundings and circumstances was too much. I also take issue with her suspicion of everything Jonah while accepting Drew. It is mind-boggling. To spend time alone in an older man's house knowing that your boyfriend's don't trust him, and then to keep secrets about him from them and accept his explanations ticked me off. If the situation was reversed, she would be more than upset with the boys. Like I said, I sympathized with Nate!
This was a well-written book. Once you picked it up, you couldn't put it down. There were a couple of huge surprises and the relationships are all moving in a nice direction. I can't wait until Book 3. Now that Lily is accepting her magic, we should be able to find out so much more and maybe have a little fun with it. Not to mention more kissing....
Denial is book two in The Seer Series, picking up right where book one Lily left off. The title says it all, Lily is in so much Denial that it becomes alittle irritating. I found myself wanting to give her a smack upside the head a few times. What I love though, is her bond with the boys. Even with her deniale of her denying her magic ability, her bond with them does not waiver. They are a solid unit. What can I say about the boys. Nate is a little Alpha Male in training. Love his intensity, willingness to take charge, and tell it like it is. Joshua, Jacob and Matt all are fun loving and goofs. Always bringing a lighter side, excuse me, lighter sexy side that would have any girl swooning. I love how they are all 100% devoted to Lily. Also happy it doesn't take 4 books for them all to agree that they all want a relationship with her, and her with them. Now Lily, she is a good strong character who doesn't just let Nate tell her what to do. Lord but how he tries. She is trying so hard to deny her abilities that it gets alittle too much, and right around when you have had enough, she relents. Outside of the Denial, she is a character that is going through a few hard times. We all deal differently, but one thing is her constant. The Boys, they have her back and she knows it. Lily goes threw some harsh revolutions, don't want to reveal any spoilers, that test what she has known all her life. When she is on the brink of falling apart her boys reign her back in. I cannot wait to see what book three brings and how their relationships progress.
This one lost me. I hate to rate or review anything that I haven't read from cover to cover, but at 60% of the way through I had to put it down.
I enjoyed the premise of the first book. The characters were interesting, the magic, the hint at the history of magic and its connection to the "new" world. It was the main character, Lily, that eventually ended my interest in the series. For the 60% of "Denial" that I read it was exactly the denial that turned me off the story. Lily's unacceptance of the thought that she might also have gifts while supported with clear evidence from her four love interests that magic does exist was mind numbing. The first book was a quick, light read that managed to keep my attention with the introduction to the four male characters and some entertaining dialogue, but this book was longer and composed of more inner dialogue from Lily. In my opinion she came across as whiny, naïve, unintelligent, and unrelatable. I just became uninterested in what happened to her and finally at one point I put the book down and decided I could be reading something I enjoyed instead of slogging through a book I started and felt obligated to finish.
I recognize that many people enjoyed the series as a whole and perhaps once I crested the denial into acceptance the book would have improved, but I was over half way through and it wasn't looking any brighter.
This book was much longer than the first in the series, probably because Lily was originally part of the Falling For Them Anthology I think, but WOW it did not disappoint. This built on the first book, enhancing and developing the story and plot perfectly! Lily begins to accept that she is different and begins to learn more about this new world from the guys and their teacher. She also learns much more about herself and where she comes from. Her relationships with the guys also develop. They are very open to talking about it and setting up limits which was nice to see. They were very mature about their feelings for each other and it was fun seeing them all get closer and more open with each other throughout the book. Big bombs are dropped on Lily in this book and while she seems to be taking them well so far, I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop in the next book in the series. Retribution, the next and I think last (but I'm not positive) book in the series will hopefully be out this spring.... hopefully closer to now than like late june :/ I'm really looking forward to reading it!!
Denial: Book 2 of The Seer Series By: R.M. Walker 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
R.M. has kept the storyline just as captivating as book 1. Lily experiences some serious emotions throughout this book. I'm my opinion, Lily is falling in love with the guys. All four of them are over protective of Lily, which is kinda cute. Lily has some issues with Jonas. Jonas does something really stupid to Lily when they first meet. Now Drew is a whole other can of worms she has to deal with. Lily experiences how it feels to be lied to, betrayed, and hurt. Lily does deny just about any and everything that has to do with her. I have to know what happens next. I couldn't put this down. This is a must read series!
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! ••••••
I liked this book better than the first one because it has much more detail of the story aside from just polyamory. The first book only seemed to concentrate on that relationship. This second book is more interesting to me due to the occult information. Misty of it is incorrect or modified too fit this story but in some places it's apparent the author did some study before writing. Novice witches out there: you're not going to be able to do 90% of what is in this story but I think you will still find the story to be entertaining. I'll be looking for book 3.
The boys' parents though! Absolutely hilarious! I was worried about this book at first because I started to think maybe Lily would spend the whole time in denial but that changed when it hit the 50% mark. Lily had a few overreactions but not enough to start yelling at the book for mistakes she was making...almost though. Can't wait to see how Lily progresses in her magic and I really wonder if her dad is a vampire/witch or something else. We shall see. Please hurry with book 3. Big gaps in stories tend to make me forget I was reading a series that I liked.
Denial was amazing. It made me laugh, grip the edge of my seat, and brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed every second of this book. I liked it more than the first because it was longer and it had more depth to it. After reading this book I feel like the first book was a good introduction to the Seer Series world and the storyline just takes off in this book. As I already read this book I know what was going to happen so I’m trying to write this review as if I never read it or how I would describe it to someone asking about it without giving it away. All I can come up with is expect the unexpected with this book. Really recommend this series so much. It great for those who enjoy fantasy romance.
RM Walker really throws your for a loop. The characters reach new depth and she does great with the "bad guy" because I'm just as confused about him as the characters are. Definitely looking forward to the next book and what new adventures Lily and her boys will get themselves into. I like this idea that there are no big baddies to take down. Just a group of 5 trying to find themselves and build a relationship together.
The second in the Seer series, Denial is a wonderful depiction of just how a teenage girl faces her position in a world she never thought possible. An intriguing paranormal adventure that will shake the foundations of what it is to be "normal", and how best friends can help you deal with even the impossible. RM Walker is definitely someone to watch!
Characters - This book is an continuation of building the characters. The MFC and her guys have distinctive personalities that develop more in-depth in this book.
Plot - Some internal and external world building. The relationship with the MFC and her guys really start in this book.
Pacing - Good. Sometimes felt a little slow. Mostly Lily's denial.
Overall - I've read the entire series before writing the reviews for each book. I enjoyed it.
Denial was an amazing second book in The Seer Series!!! Lily, Nate, Josh, Jake and Matt have all grown so much from the first book. So cool to see the creepy neighbor character also progress and learn more from his involvement too. A very intriguing book with lovable, charming characters, and I can't wait to see what happens next for them all!
This book was too long for the content. I didn't feel like the story really went anywhere. There wasn't very much character development. I don't feel attached to anyone. The surprise in the book was very anticlimactic. I liked the first book and was very excited at the length of this book but I feel very let down.
So much happens in this book, I'm starting to get frustrated with Lily and her denial, indecisiveness and inability to see Drew clearly and mistrust in Jonas. I'm hoping now that she's gotten a hold of herself and revealed some truths that she will grow up a bit in the next book.
Lily and her guys are back and trying to figure out what/who she is. I liked seeing their relationships grow. There’s the mysterious neighbor/teacher who seems to be stalking Lily and can she really trust the guys mentor. This book answers some questions, but there are a lot left open. I’m so glad book 3 is out, so I can see what happens next :)
RM Walker is an incredible story teller! I love all the guys and cannot pick a favorite. The MC is amazing, and it has just the right amount of sexual tension! I highly recommend you pick up this series 💕💕💕
A fabulous follow up to RM Walker's first book, Lily.
Walker manages to take the reader into her world of fairies, witches, and other supernatural and mix it with real life. The characters feel real and the setting is vivid and life like. I honestly couldn't put it down.
Lily's whole life has been upended by the knowledge of the power she has bit that's just the tip of the iceberg. She's not who she thinks she is and neither are some of the people around her. Just who can she trust when information starts to flow?
Thank you RM Walker for giving me more story with some twists and turns. I really love the guys and how they accept RH... Cannot wait for the 3rd book.
