Enemies to Lovers.

Blade Carr and Wyatt Smith are bodyguards from rival agencies who can’t stand each other.
Blade is a younger omega who thinks, Wyatt, a slightly older alpha, is arrogant and disrespectful. Wyatt believes Blade is nothing but a cocky punk. But when Wyatt receives a death threat, his boss decides the last place anyone will look for him is at Blade’s house.

Both men dread spending time together and are shocked when, despite their dislike of one another, they are suddenly physically attracted to each other. When they give into their lust one night, Blade just wants to pretend the perplexing night of passion never happened, but when the younger omega discovers he’s pregnant, the two men are forced to form a closer bond as they try to find a way to come together for the child.

This is a heartwarming, but steamy, 55,000 word story featuring a non-shifter Alpha/Omega world and contains mpreg (male pregnancy). This is a standalone fated-mate, gay for you story and Book One in the: Bodyguards and Babies mpreg series.

This was a cute little story. I loved Blade and Wyatt, and I enjoyed their bickering. They were both too cute together.

I loved the storyline, but I wanted some more world-building. It was sad to read that they had repressed their wolf side, but the little tidbits Wyatt's mom gave were great to read. That's my only issue. Otherwise, it was a very entertaining read.

So, this was not for me. At all. Mostly I have to have a connection when it comes to my Alpha/Omega stories, especially MPREG, even more so Fated Mates.

This had none. Needless to say, these guys didn’t even like each other and when they decided to give it a go I never felt anything. I didn’t even ever understand the enemy part of the story either.

I’ll leave it there but really, the entire book was just not for me. Bummer.

Cute

This was cute and their banter was good. I like a good enemies to lovers trope and this didn't disappoint. There were some parts that didn't add up and the timeline went a bit wonky in one section but other than that there were no major issues. I'll most likely read the next book in the series.

This is an enemies to lovers, fated mates, mpreg story. Blade and Wyatt are rival bodyguards thrown together when Blade is assigned to watch over Wyatt for a few weeks and Wyatt moves into Blade’s home. They are also non-shifter wolves, the species having given up shifting in order to fit in with humans at some time in the past, but they still have their wolf nature and roles, although not as prominent as in the past.

Neither has felt an attraction to men before, but soon after the assignment starts, both are pulled to the other. Wyatt is an alpha and a bit older than Blade. Blade is an omega (unbeknownst to either of them he is a rare solar eclipse omega) and although he is fiercely independent and eschews the expected omega submissiveness, he can’t help but want to submit to Wyatt. This compounds their dislike as the last thing Blade wants is to be seen as needy or weak. When the pull is too much to take, the men give into their lust but things quickly get weird. A visit with Wyatt’s mother, and a bit of wolf folklore has Blade running for the pregnancy test. As if Wyatt and Blade wanting each other isn’t bad enough, now they need to deal with an unbelievable pregnancy and trying to figure out what to do about it as Blade tries to hang on to some normalcy in his life.

I’m very new to omegaverse and mpreg so this one worked well for me as I am easing into the genre. I can’t say how it will work for those more well-versed in it though since there were things that even I felt I wanted to see more of. The world-building isn’t very detailed, we are only really given the necessary information, provided through Wyatt’s mother, who has the experience and is in touch with the Ancients who, although they seem to have some power over the wolves, are unknown to both Blade and Wyatt. There is no face time with the Ancients or really any other members of the community, that we know of, until the end of the story.

Told in alternating POV we get a feel for both men. Blade never knew his parents and grew up in an unhappy foster home. Wyatt is close with his mother. Wyatt believes in his alpha dominance while Blade has little of the omega submissiveness, working his way up in his job just as any alpha would. I really enjoyed the way these two got on each other’s nerves, especially after their strange attraction begins. I enjoyed it the most though when they finally give in and both succumb to their born natures. Their sex is hot and Wyatt dominates Blade, allowing his wolf nature to really come out; not just the assertive side, but the side that needs to nurture and care for Blade who he almost immediately thinks of as his omega.

The pregnancy storyline comes on pretty quickly and most of the story takes place during the first two months of Blade’s three month pregnancy. I did want to see more of that last month though, since all the major changes to his body occur then and we really only saw him dealing with morning sickness and fatigue while still working, travelling and dealing with the danger inherent in his work. The story did then jump to shortly before he delivered, but we missed out on him getting to the point of showing and feeling the baby.

Other than that I enjoyed seeing both Wyatt and Blade adjusting to the reality of the situation and their new relationship, which was quite the change in and of itself. They seem to have differing ideas about the baby to start and Wyatt’s overbearing mother has very firm opinions and isn’t afraid to hand out the threats. I really did not like her character and the way she treated Blade. I understood where she was coming from but I found her pushy and rude.

What I did like was what the two men did build. Wyatt is a sweetheart under the arrogant front and is determined to do what he can for his omega and their baby. I liked his jealousy and his possessiveness and so did Blade, who found himself for the first time enjoying some of his omega nature. Once again though, at the end I wanted to see more of them with the baby, which we only get a brief glimpse of in the Epilogue. I’m hoping their story will continue in the next book as I would really like to see them adjusting to being a family and dealing with their new reality.

This was a fun, sweet, sexy, and what I would consider a light mpreg, definitely something I would recommend to people wanting a taste of the genre. Overall, I enjoyed the story but it left me wanting to know more. I liked both main characters, their banter and their chemistry, and I would definitely be up for reading another story about Blade and Wyatt dealing with their new lives. I also would look forward to a story about Blade’s client, rocker Riley West. He definitely made an impression.

I enjoyed this one but it took me a minute to warm up to Blade, I get why he was like he was but still, lol. I liked him and Wyatt together and glad that they went through everything together. I'm looking forward to the next book but I'm very curious who it's going to be about?

S.C. Wynne writes characters that you can't help falling in love with. Wyatt and Blade are no exception. I was completely invested in this story from the first page and couldn't stop reading until I reached the end.

I haven't read many Mpreg romance stories but will be looking for more of them from S.C. Wynne! This was a strong, beautiful love story!

So, I have a couple of "guilty" pleasures when it comes to books, and mpreg is one of them. This is a non-shifter mpreg. I've read a couple of these (they're pretty rare) and the backstories about why males can get pregnant, and how the whole birth thing goes down, are usually pretty touch-and-go; some of them I can totally buy into, some of them leave me feeling kind of, meh, ok, sure, I guess. I really liked the background SC Wynne came up with for this AU. I mean, as much as cis males getting pregnant and birthing children can make sense, this does so.

The reason this isn't a higher rating for me is the glossed-over relationship building (In the beginning it was awesome - the enemies-to-lovers thing was totally spot-on, but in the middle half of the book, I didn't really buy them together. It was a lot of telling, not showing.), the over-emphasis of the GFY thing (I really despise GFY as a concept - I think there's a story here, a fated mates-type situation, that maybe will get more fully fleshed out in future books) and the lack of certain things that really get me going for mpreg stories. Like, lots of content about the actual pregnancy. This book just felt rushed IMO. I remember when the author put out a survey in her newsletter gauging interest in mpreg and it wasn't that long ago. A little more time spent with this story and I definitely think this book would've improved greatly.

All in all, I did like this AU Wynne put together and I'll definitely check out future books in the series. I really liked Blade and Wyatt and their little family and hope we see more of them - either the next book continuing their story, or them playing a role in another couple's story.

Simple, cute and sweet as well as an enemies to loves trope.

I started reading the spin off of this series so I figure maybe I’d dig into this one as well.. it was honestly about the same except the spin off was about bad guys instead of bodyguards...

This didn’t really work for me. First, they are shifters who “choose not to shift” - so in the blurb when it says non-shifter Alpha/Omega – that’s not really true. The author doesn’t really expound on why they don’t shift – but basically it’s to blend in better with humans.

I love the enemies to lovers trope but this felt like two school boys who fought all the time for no good reason – and they’re mean to one another! Then, when forced together they lose their minds and start having sex. It felt very awkward. I was uncomfortable with how they treated one another from start to finish and never really felt the love.

Towards the end – when they’re making a go of it as a couple – the author tells us rather than shows us how they’ve become closer over the weeks, but I’d have liked to see more of this on page.

I thought the issues of abortion versus adoption could have been handled a bit more on page to give this story a bit more depth.

The other thing that I didn’t understand is why – after the omega gets pregnant – they revert back to no touching when clearly they both crave it. This would have been at least one way for them to reconnect and bond and I wasn’t sure why it was left as it was.

Another issue I had was the world building. I wanted to know more about these guys and why they chose to abandon their wolves. That seems huge to me and worthy of discussion. I also wondered at the fact that so few of their kind know about this ability to get pregnant and why it’s a secret.

As far as a manageable system – the having to be isolated for a month seems pretty unattainable for most people and I would think this would be hard to perpetuate long term.

As a side note I also never liked Wyatt’s mom and I wondered at a name like Blade – without an explanation.

I investigated the second book in the series but it seems like more of the same.

I was disappointed in this and can’t really recommend it. I was grabbed at the beginning but it lost steam for me around the 35% mark and it was a struggle to finish. I love mpreg and chose this because it wasn’t a shifter book but I’m not sure it really satisfies that requirement and I just couldn’t get behind the world building or the romance in this story.

(On a side note – while this SC Wynne book didn’t strike my fancy I really enjoyed their Assassins in love series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1749...)

I was very excited when the author announced she wrote something completely different from his usual books, a non-shifter story with an alpha/omega pair. And I was right to read it because I was pleasantly surprised.

Wyatt, an Alpha, and Blade, an omega, work for two opposite bodyguards companies. They've never liked each other but due to the twists and turns of fate, Blade ends up guarding Wyatt for a few days, until they find out who is threating his life.

I would have liked a little more world building. We get few details such as both alphas and omegas chose some time ago to live us humans but for what I understood, they still have their wolves inside them even if they don't transform (?). They're as much of a close-knit society as any wolf pack and it seems most humans don't know about them (?). Also, I was left wondering if we are going to see any betas in this series. Another thing, the bodyguard-plot ends up pretty quick, most of the book is about the development of their relationship and what's coming next.

I liked both Wyatt and Blade. Their lust for each other comes unexpectedly and the romance is slow burn. Maybe because they didn't spend much time together in the past, hence they never noticed their attraction. Their constant bickering was kind of endaring. Both have to learn to respect each other and see beyond their temperaments and prejudices.

In regard to other characters... I liked Riley, he seemed to be a real sweet guy and I hope he gets his own book. I found Wyatt's mum annoying, I know the situation wasn't the best but... for all that's holly, she shouldn't have wasted so much time bubbling and just got to the point. I hate when they are not direct to what's going on. And she kept pestering poor Blade (what? I have a soft spot for him) and trying to push him to do what she thought it was best.

Overall, I had a great time reading this and it was so good that it was a different sort of book (not that I have something against shifter books because I do love those), it was a breath of fresh air and hopefully we will get more stories like this. Anyhow, I can't wait to know who is going to be in book 2!

This book was different. I liked that the wolves had evolved past actual shifting but still retained many other shifter features. Blade and Wyatt were pretty explosive together. Their bickering was pretty intense so when things shifted and they found themselves attracted to each other, it was pretty funny. When they ended up in bed, it was back to being explosive. I really enjoyed the scenes with Wyatt's mother. She brought out a different side of Wyatt, which was nice to see. I also liked Blade with Riley West. I could see them being friends. I hope Blade shows up in Riley's book.

My favorite part of this book was while Blade and Wyatt were up in the mountains. It was a little bit scary but beautiful too.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

Are you fucking kidding me. First the not so subtle digs about abortion. Then the really not so subtle dig about people who give their baby up.

Fuck. Off.

I had an epic rant about this subject but deleted it because it would be like shouting in a storm.

Save to say I have very little respect for people who shame/guilt/harass other people for making a choice that has nothing to do with them.

Don't be a dick to others because you don't know where they came from and just because you would make other choices doesn't mean that their choice is any less legit. OR ANY LESS PAINFUL.

Sheez. Now I need some fluffy story... or to shoot something in a game.

The beginning was ok. The relationship was developing fine and all. But after the sex all went downhill. I didn't know if Wyatt wanted Blade for Blade or for the baby. In Blade's POV was one thing and in Wyatt's other. That confused me a lot. And there was the mother. She was fucking annoying. She hid everything and then blamed the guys. Without her the rating could have been better.

I like rivals to lovers but this one was just bland.

Hate when authors use their books to soapbox. Wynne is very clearly anti choice and creates a creepy AF character to embody that (which is actually super realistic of anyone who tries to control someone else's body). In this it's the mother who reminds me of witches desperate to get their hands on a newborn for their witchy dark bidding. She creeped me out so much I DNF'd. *shudder*

Oh. My. Goodness. I laughed so hard I cried, then cried because of the absolute pleasure this book gave me. This is the first of S.C. Wynne I have read and I will never regret it. This book was beautifully written and just fantastic.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. There's so much I want to tell you about I could recite the whole book right now. But alas I can't. Lol. So let's see if I can give you a good description of the characters and what they are like. I am a lover of alpha/omega books so this was right up my alley. Blade and Wyatt had me laughing so hard at some of the snarky comments that would come out of their mouths. Until it got a little personal. For Blade more than Wyatt.

You see, Blade had a rough childhood. He was dropped off in a hospital bathroom the minute he was born and was raised with foster parents who could have cared less. (That made me cry because so many of our foster kids go through this.) Blade has a hard time with commitment. He has a hard time with love and someone wanting to care for him. He views softer feelings and having most emotions as weak. And Blade is far from weak. He is an omega, yes, but he's tough. He's a bodyguard, and has to be even stronger to prove he's not weak as an omega as well. But Blade is special. And he's about to find out why when he tangles with the one man he can't stand more than anything, and the one he now has to protect.

Wyatt is an alpha who is old school. He thinks alphas should be top dog and omegas should basically bow and kiss their butts, so to speak. And he definitely has the attitude to match. Wyatt can't stand Blade anymore than Blade can stand him. They loathe each other and having to be protected by this young 'punk’ just eats at him. But his life is in danger and he has to suck it up. The wonderful thing about these two though is that after being cooped up in the same house together, their wolves are showing them that maybe the other isn't so bad. And seeing as both of them think they are 'straight’, it gets confusing and overwhelming. After one night of explosive passion and straight up f*cking, Blade gets pregnant and things begin to change.

I tell you this to show you how beautiful these two become. It makes me cry even now to think about how much they change. Wyatt feels something for Blade immediately and knows that things are now different. He becomes so soft and attentive when it comes to Blade. His alpha wants nothing more than to care for his omega. He views the man he once loathed as his now. And it scares him. But he pushes through. As snarky as Blade is to him, he keeps pushing gently and breaks those walls down. And soon realizes Blade hides behind the snark because he doesn't know how to deal with what he's going through. And it's amazing to see how Wyatt caters to him. As much as he may want to do something simple as hug Blade, he keeps his hands to himself and gives comforting words. Anything to make Blade feel better and comforted and loved. Blade finally realized what it's like to be loved and he opens himself up. And it's such a full feeling. He feels whole finally. Like he belongs and he let's his alpha care for him the way he needs to be.

I hope I haven’t given away too much, but I hope that I've intrigued you enough to read this book. It was amazing. It's one of those that once you pick it up….you can't put it down. Thank you to the author for such a beautiful read. Now I'm off to read book 2. Squee! See you soon!

Review done for Will Reads: http://willreads.com/wordpress/my-ome...

Gee, you think you know--and hate--someone...

Blade and Wyatt are at odds with one another. Nah, that's not even enough. They really, really don't like each other. Blade is an omega. He's cocksure, certain that the time of the alpha has passed, and that Wyatt, his pain in the ass counterpart from another agency, needs to step aside and let the youth through. It all begins to change when Blade is given an assignment to protect Wyatt. Oh, and Wyatt needs to stay in Blade's house. Oh, and Wyatt gets a toothache... But we're getting ahead of ourselves here.

I like enemies to friends. To me, and this is just my opinion, the antagonism makes the sex hotter, the feelings deeper, and the love more enduring. How so? The emotions are so intense, barely concealed beneath the surface. It only takes one small spark for them to ignite and bubble over into something that neither can walk away from.

Now, if you're looking for shifter action, you won't find it in this book. Though the men discuss their wolves, they are never seen. It's important to keep in mind that this is a story about a relationship--albeit a strained one at first--as the two circle around one another, trying their best to ensure they're not really feeling what they think they are. It's pretty fun to watch.

There's a bit of tension near the end of the book that has you just a tiny bit nervous. But ultimately, you know this is going to be a book where baby makes three (because otherwise I don't think the title would work). And S.C. Wynne did it so well.

My thanks to Becca Waldrop for suggesting the book to me!

If you are hesitant about the "omegaverse" or mpreg, this is a good one to get you started. It is fairly light on the omegaverse, with only some history thrown in by the mother of one of the main characters, and the mpreg is super rare in this world. So rare that the main characters had no idea that it could happen. SURPRISE!

And to add another trope in- it's an enemy to lovers story. One body guard tasked with protecting another bodyguard from a rival agency when it is believed that his life is in danger. They've had a long held dislike for each other and neither are happy with the arangement. Both are also straight. Another surprise!

After one night of purely lust driven sex, the omega of the two winds up immediately pregnant. How they navigate that as a sort-of-but-not-really-but-maybe couple drives most of the story.

So while it was a good story, some parts were a little cringy- like when Blade, the man who is pregnant, sounds like a stereotypical whiny pregnant woman that I read about in all of the books before I left traditional MF romance. And I'd like to know more about the history of the alpha and omega wolves that no longer shift. There is more to the story I'd like to delve into.

But overall, it was an interesting read and even though none of this could happen in real life, it still didn't seem too out there.

I made it all the way to chapter 3, before the continuity errors got to me. On top of the incredibly stilted narration.

Do you ever wonder if anyone actually reads some of these books, before they're offered to the unsuspecting public? And if those 4 and 5 star reviews were given by actual readers? I have a dreadful memory, but I can remember from one paragraph to the next that Wyatt grew up in a bad neighbourhood:
"Are your parents still alive?"

"My mom is." He sighed. "She still lives here in the same house house I grew up in".

I grimaced. "Hopefully in a better part of town?"
How do you get from the same house he grew up in, to hopefully, a better part of town?
We rode in silence, and he mostly just stared out the window until we up to his dentist office. I parked with our nose facing toward the road {emphasis added} in case we needed to make a quick escape.

----

I started to back out...
I don't know about you, but if I park nose out, I find it quite difficult to back out.

Now, you might say that these are piddling concerns, and you'd be right. But they're emblematic of a serious case of carelessness, and writers this careless deserve neither my time nor my money.

I will not be finishing this book, nor reading the rest of the series.

I'm fairly new to m'preg so I still get confused sometimes when things aren't explained early on (why/how men get pregnant in the writer's universe/reality.

In this story, the MCs are non-shifting wolves and every so often there is a solar eclipse omega that has the ability to get pregnant. The problem arises when 'enemies' Blade and Wyatt feel an uncontrollable need to mate with each other while one is guarding the other. They have no idea that Blade can get pregnant because it's part of wolf history that that is not only rare but the information gets handed down through the family and Blade is a foster kid and those are just legends anyway, right?

While this story is well written, I was a bit annoyed when Wyatt's mom was not only the one to tell them that Blade is pregnant but also goes NUTS when Blade mentions possibly terminating the pregnancy... I did not like how antagonistic she became. I understand having veery strong views on the subject but well... let's just say I would have a thing or two to say to Mrs Smith.

It was a pretty good Enemies-to-lovers/non-shifter m'preg story

****
POV... multi first person

Standalone or series... book 1 in a series

Did it give me a hangover... no

Would I recommend it... maybe

Would I read it again... maybe

My Omega’s Baby is a non-shifter M-Preg story that is a low angst enemies to lovers story. SC Wynne brought some awesome creativity to this book. The whole Alpha and Omega thing is the similarity to the typical shifter story. But pregnancy in men is not something they are knowledgeable about. I won’t tell you how it all comes to be but I thought how the author worked it in was unique and brought a different light to this book.

Wyatt and Blade work for rival bodyguard companies. When Wyatt’s life is in danger he’s sent to Blade’s house to lay low. Because who would go to the person they hate most in the world’s house for protection? Of course that’s how this story is born and it goes from there.

I loved the discoveries and how things come to be and of course the conclusion. It’s not at all angsty and there’s some suspense but mostly this is a romance. How do two people who hate each other come to love each other.

I recommend this book to people who love romance and enjoyable plot. I can see so many directions the following books can go and can’t wait to see the direction the series takes.

This is a story with a different take on the Alpha/Omega wolf dynamic.

I loved the way the story starts out with the amount of snark and sniping between Blade, an omega and Wyatt, the alpha. They do not like each other in any way. But isn’t hate the other side of the love coin? And doesn’t proximity create strange bedfellows? In this case it creates a good dose of lust too. And for Wyatt the need to protect and care Blade. Blade can’t get around the lust either, the need to submit to Wyatt, where he’s never submitted to anyone before. This was fun to read, watching the two of them build their relationship, working their way to a HEA.

S. C. Wynne has created a wonderful world. The characters are well developed. I loved both Wyatt and Blade. As a secondary character, I found Wyatt’s mom a bit pushy. The story moves you along with great pace. But the story was done before I wanted it to be, I wanted to read more of this story. I can’t wait to read more in this world.

I received an advanced reader copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Enemies-to-lovers, gay-for-you romance. Blade is assigned as a bodyguard to one of his colleagues from a rival agency, Wyatt. Both have met before and basically just bring out the worst in each other. When they get close, their inner alpha and omega take over for one night. When Blake starts feeling unwell he assumes he has eaten something that didn’t agree with him, until Wyatt’s mother explains to him about solar eclipse omegas and how they can become pregnant. After being in denial for a few weeks Blake disbelievingly discovers that Wyatt’s mom is right – and now he and Wyatt have to decide whether they can put their differences aside to raise their child together and whether maybe there can be more between them than platonic co-parenting.
I liked this book just fine although it does feel a lot like an introduction into this omegaverse with more to come; I felt that introduction took up much space when I would have liked to see more character and story development for Blake and Wyatt.
