In the dim lights of Aurora’s premier kink club waits for an alpha eager to take control.

Billionaire Crawford Daniels has bedded submissives before, but he’s never given one his collar. That privilege is reserved for the man who’s strong-willed enough to tell him, no, but whose pretty lips always say yes. Crawford wants more than a pet—he wants a partner. Someone to pamper and spoil. Or punish.

Hidden behind case reports and paperwork waits an omega afraid to give it all up.

Owen Ellis has fought tooth and nail to rise above his omega status and find success. He’s educated, successful, and independent, but deep inside, he knows something is missing. A mistake during his teenage years has led to a lifetime of loneliness, and Owen refuses to surrender his heart again. He’s afraid to be hurt.

He’ll never let another alpha in.

But some rules are meant to be broken. When Owen meets Crawford and sparks fly, Owen has to decide if happiness is worth the risk. The choice is always his. He can walk away and embrace loneliness—

—or he can wear Crawford’s collar and obey.

Obey is a 42,000 word stand-alone novella packed full of steamy BDSM, MPreg, one of the hottest uses for an ice cube ever, and a happily ever after that proves in the end, love really does win.

Piper Scott debuted as a trio of authors looking to write together for fun. Their collaboration led to three novella-length books (Love Me, Save Me, and Keep Me,) before life sent them in different directions, leaving just one author with an omegaverse plot bunny that wouldn’t leave her alone. Obey was born several months later… but the plot bunny never left—it multiplied.

Left to her own devices, Piper Scott writes scorching but heartfelt contemporary omegaverse romance about men you can’t help but fall in love with.

Also writes under the pen name Emma Alcott.

The book was an okay read. I love omegaverse. This promised to be a good book after reading the blurb. Owen, the counselor, at first appeared to be very unsure of himself, second guessing himself and his feelings.

Daniel, the swanky millionaire is poised and self confident. They feel the connection between them right away. It promises to be great romance and hot encounters. But it starts to drag for so long, and when finally they get to the bedroom, there are so many pages of it that I had to skip some of them.

And him professing to be hardcore Dom the only things that were there connected to BDSM was the aftercare and the use of words sub space and the use of some sexual toys and instruments. I mean I expected a little more from their intimate moments. And I always thought the collar came in the last in D/S relationships but here it was at the forefront. That was a little confusing. I am not an expert so I will not judge too harshly but this is a lot different than what I read in other books with the same type of relationship.

Then the second part of the book was as if skipped mostly. It was described like 6 months, the 8 months later. And the main conflict was health problems that was resolved with throwing money left and right. It was as if the first part of the book was too slow ( even I can't call that a build up) and the second part was too rushed. I finished reading it but I think that this book could have been so much better if the tempo of the book was the same all through the book.

Reading the blurb I thought the mix of an ABO universe with BDSM kink would be right up my alley, but it turned out to be exactly the opposite.

On top of that, the way the characters and their actions were written came across as stilted. Which in a way makes sense for a debut—since this apparently was the first book written by a single author under the pen name Piper Scott, rather than the three anonymous writers the name had consisted of earlier.

Best thing about Obey is the world Piper Scott builds, there are some unique twists and very specific ideas I really like. Of course there's terrific chemistry between the main characters and the D/s relationship is nicely done.

Michael Dean does a wonderful job infusing emotion into these guys, especially Owen.

I have to be the first to admit that I don't totally understand this genera of M/M romances, but I really liked the two characters of Crawford and Owen, and the book moved along fairly fast with very little of the on again off again to the relationship that I absolute hate. A beautiful story of love at first sight and finding your way around growing as a couple and determining your needs and wants in a relationship. I have book 2 of the series and I was happy to see that even though it features a different couple; Crawford and Owen are still there and anxiously awaiting their special event which we will get to share.

Very unique Omegaverse story. Two progressive men, an Alpha and an omega, go into a BDSM relationship as equals. The Alpha was reported to be an experienced Dom. He talked about training the omega as his sub. The book covered almost a year of their relationship. Surprisingly, there weren't any play scenes. There was only a punishment scene. The obvious was totally missed by the author and the editor. What a bummer. Thus, my low rating.

Meh. I didn't really care for Owen wanting equality and then giving into Crawford's demands so easily. I mean, there was no resistance whatsoever. I have friends that are the strongest people I know and yet are subs. It's not that I don't understand, it's Owen's past and what he does for a living that had me pondering his decisions. I didn't buy the lack of resistance.

I'm in between books and it's after midnight, but wanted something easy and fast to read. This fit the bill, but still a solid 2 stars.

Not as great a reading for my sophomoric venture with this author, but some I feel can be forgiven because it's relatively short - so a lot was skipped forward, very fast paced near the middle to end - and it was probably one of Scott's first (all their works have been published only since 2017, basically, so a relatively new author) but with the first book of this author's I read, which I really liked, I think the author can only improve from here.

Also, this does have mpreg, so if you don't like that, skip this one.

So the reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because the book was both slow and fast at the same time. Slow in the beginning for me, slow to feel a connection between Owen and Crawford and slow to get interested in the story. But then once I was into these two together, it skipped a lot of things to get to where Owen is pregnant and they solidify their relationship. Weeks passed quickly, then months and then someone would happen, then a few weeks or a few months would go by again before someone happened again.

This book felt, to me, like it was just getting to building Owen and Crawford's relationship when it started skipping ahead weeks and months at a time, so seeing them become a more solid couple didn't happen, and I was left a little "meh" at the end when they were happy together. I didn't feel them get to that place.

That said, I was starting to like them toward the middle and they had some really hot sex scenes, and I was really starting to enjoy it. But then once they decided to date for real and exclusively, not much happened after that, it was just focused on the fact that Owen hadn't had a heat in almost a year and then them deciding to have kids before something happened that I won't go into because spoilers haha. But it was all about that near the end and that's why I felt it was skipping so much, to just focus on the pregnancy.

(And the first single dad support group kinda did that, but I felt that that book actually developed the main couple's relationship fully and it was less a "lets just get to the pregnant part" and more "lets get to the birth and having a family and happy ever after" part). It just made it feel different than this, which felt like it let go of the relationship for the most part in favor of the whole kid thing. I would have liked a lot more of their relationship at the end, because then the connection I felt with their characters and their relationship dropped off again for me.

So, 3 stars for an enjoyable middle and a slightly slow, but still enjoyable beginning, but a meandering and too fast paced an ending.

Still want to read this author again, but this second read just didn't work as well as my first read with this author.

A really unique and wonderful take on Alpha/omega and D/s

Someone recommended this book to me, saying that the Alpha/Dom was unusually respectful of the omega/submissive, and they were absolutely right. He wasn't weak or indecisive by any means, but he made it clear that the omega had his own freewill and choice, and never made him feel like a lesser person. He made it clear that he'd rather pleasure than punish, though both types of encounters were sizzling hot.

I still haven't read a lot of A/o books that aren't shifter-themed, but this was a great example of one that I will be recommending. I'll also be checking out more books from this author.

The world building here was interesting but the relationship development was a little boring. There's no real tension. No excitement. Owen, the omega activist, all but looks in the alpha's direction and forgets everything he's fought years for.

Plus, there's no real kink. There's Having so much stuff off-page was disappointing and I wasn't invested enough to finish.

Didn't manage to finish.

I don't often write reviews and even rare for me is not finishing a book, I may force myself to finish in the future but right now I am quite irritated by the first 40%.
What attracted me to this book was a story of a man who fights against a culture of discrimination against omegas and forges a life for himself helping other omegas who have been abused and neglected. I was intrigued by Owens past which left him injured internally and was looking forward to a tender and loving...yet determined alpha to gently persuade Owen that not all alphas were bad people. I was also looking forward to seeing how this alpha would take down the mental walls that Owen claims to have. But after a fancy dinner he sends owen a collar!? Just packaged and demanding his audience at a kink bar...is that not presumptuous, but Owen is ok with it. Rather than the natural conflict Owen should have when he's been burned by past experiences, he goes and after a sexy dance is behaving like a desperate sex deprived teenager! Where is the fear that has supposedly caused his ill health? This author hints at past hurts, Owen mentions he shouldn't trust crawford, but then melts into his arms. However this isn't good enough for the alpha as he backs off and orders his 'pet' to go home and not touch himself. So this guy leads him on and brings him close to exploding so he can back right off and tell him to go home...and Owen likes it... "Wants to be good" and thinks the alpha is his champion! But the end for me was the cock cage which he's sent and ordered to wear for six days...they've only been to dinner and a dance. This alpha keeps saying "it's your choice" but supposedly Owen is a strong omega who councils others on how to protect themselves yet he follows orders like a puppy..it's awful and rather pathetic. It should have been natural for inner conflict within Owen and for him to show the strength that crawford claims to respect, yet the alpha demands his obedience after 2 'dates'.
This author tries to show a strong omega living his life despite circumstances and even crawford mentions this and likes it in the beginning...Within pages this is torn down by an arrogant alpha who simply wants a 'pet' to 'obey'
I really wanted to see the relationship development but this start ruined that for me, and took my curiosity of Owens injury from being enough of a reason to continue reading

I wanted to love this. I really did. The Omega universe was well written, and I loved how Owen was a counselor for Omega rights. He really believed that Omega's should have choice and be their own person. Loved this about him, and also about Crawford who agreed even though he was an Alpha. So why 3 stars? well, I think I was just looking for a bit more romance to the story. The premise is set up pretty well that Omega's should have rights, but they should also be able to let their guard down and be submissive. Crawford went full force into the idea that Owen had a choice in everything they did, and really it seemed like Owen did. Then the book became more about sex than the relationship. All I saw was Crawford dominate Owen completely, and I never saw Owen being his own individual like he prided himself on. I felt like that was missing.

Michael Pauley is the perfect voice for this series, and I really enjoyed his narration for this story.

I thought I had reviewed this one already, but I didn't. I love this series, I thought this one starting things off for the series was a bit short and skipped over so much of their time together, but overall I enjoyed Crawford and Owen together.

I received an audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was fantastic all the way through. The only thing I felt disappointed about was that the ending was a little abrupt for my taste. I just wanted more of these guys. This book was the perfect amount of Sweet and Hot with a bit dirty added in. The scenes between Owen and Crawford were Hot and I loved that Crawford was able to get Owen to open up and be himself and let loose after the trauma of his past. Loved this book and I hope we get the rest of this series in Audio

Audio - Once again Micheal Pauley did an amazing job with these characters. I have yet to come across anything I haven’t liked from Michael he’s such a solid well rounded narrator. Loved this book and along with hoping we get the next books in Audio I really hope that This Author sticks with Michael as the narrator.

This book is a case of one missed opportunity after another. As the author states on her website she had "Omegaverse plot bunnies" that led to this series of books. After reading this I have to ask where exactly. You could strip the a/b/o aspects out, come up with another handwavy explanation for the mpreg and this story would still be same run-of-the-mill verging on boring Romance it presents as now.

The kink is so mild that it really doesn't need the BDSM label. A little chastity, a few visits to a club where they don't actually play and little praise!kink.

The world!building is interesting but doesn't actually make any use of the way and a/b/o society would be different from our own except the overused battered Omega trope.

Like I said missed opportunities abound and then the characters aren't even interesting and the smut not that hot.

I just talked myself out of the two stars I was going to give this :(

I really like the first 75% of this book, but it took an unexpected turn at the end. It was still good with a happy ending, I was just surprised

I loved Crawford. The attraction between him and Owen was there from the moment they met, but Crawford didn't rush things. The romance was a slow burn with a kinky edge. I would have loved to read more about the romance.

“I’m a slave to your word.”

The story is set in the city Aurora where Owen Ellis works as a counsellor at the Stonecrest Omega Rehabilitation Center.
The Center was founded by omega Daniels, Crawford's father.

When Crawford meets Owen, there is an instant connection between them, Crawford was smitten

I understand that this is a short novella, but still things developed very fast. Like the collar after the first date and the cock cage after the second date. I was looking forward to a bit more BDSM or at least a scene at the club, especially with Crawford being he’s a damn good dom. But thing did not progressed beyond the cock cage, a spanking and a humbler.

Owen willingly putting on the collar was the reason I'm rating this two stars. It felt a bit like a joke for him counselling battered omega's and preaching equality and He was an omega rehabilitation counselor—he had no right thinking about Daniels in such a way. Omegas weren’t property but still choose it be collared.

I will probably give the next book a fair chance someday, but now I'm not eager to do so.

I like M/M, I love paranormal, and I appreciate BDSM. You’d think that Obey would be a no-brainer, then, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

First of all, Obey is too short to fully flesh out characters. To be fair, it’s presented as a novella, so it’s not like the author deceive us. Still, in a novel this short, character development is limited and that affects our emotional involvement as readers.

The story is set in Aurora, and apparently omegas have been abused and need rescuing, but why that is, isn’t clear. I would have loved a bit more of world building.

The BDSM part was, for me, the biggest let down. With a title like ‘obey’ I expected the BDSM to play a bigger part than it really did. Most of the sex was of the plain vanilla kind, with a collar, cock cage, and a spanking thrown in. There was one scene where a humbler added a little spice, but still. The fact that Crawford collars Owen immediately felt unrealistic.

I love the premise of this series, and I'll definitely be reading the next one but I hope everything will be developed a bit more fully.

Interesting concept

3 1/2 stars. I loved the cover.

My first read of a story set in this world of Alphas and Omegas. I loved the emotional caring relationship between the two hot MCs. I wish their story could been longer. I wanted more. I did not like the use of the phrase "piss slit".

I am a big fan of the Single Dad's Support Group series by Piper Scott but not so much her first series with The Rutledge Brothers. There's a huge change in the writing style between the two so this is not bad, definitely an in between option.

The story was a bit too short and it promised a BDSM relationship but didn't really deliver. I did learn what a humble is though so there's that.

2.5* máximo. No sé cómo la hace pero consigue que no sea entretenido. Pasan muchas cosas pero no lo cohesiona bien por lo que parece que va a saltos, por ello el desarrollo de la relación entre ellos no acaba de cuajar.

Having never read this author before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say that I was definitely not disappointed. The plot was interesting, the writing impressive, and the characters complex and well thought out. Authentic and engaging, these characters completely draw you into the story, and you just can't help but become invested in their lives. These two beautiful men, one slightly broken but resilient, the other confident yet compassionate, come together as one in this stunning paranormal romance. Together, Owen and Crawford discover the joys of a mutually beneficial power exchange and the healing power of true love. I found this book to be interesting and entertaining, insightful and impassioned, romantic and intriguing, and absolutely enthralling. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet, sexy, and compelling read.

I felt like we learned too little of the main characters, and as such it was hard to feel invested in the story at all. It seemed to me that the romance took a secondary role when compared to the BDSM elements of the story, which is fine and all, but it really didn't seem like the characters were in love anyway, with the way their relationship was written. There was a lot more telling than showing here.

Easy read, but it's still not something I'd readily recommend to anyone who's looking for lighter and quicker stuff.

I loved Obey by Piper Scott. It was well written and nicely edited. The characters were nicely developed. I loved Crawford and Owen. They were great together even if Crawford manipulated Owen at the beginning of their relationship to get him to where he wanted Owen to be. In the end, it all worked out beautifully, and both Owen and Crawford got their HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
