The Biographic series presents an entirely new way of looking at the lives of the world’s greatest thinkers and creatives. It takes the 50 defining facts, dates, thoughts, habits and achievements of each subject, and uses infographics to convey all of them in vivid snapshots.
Each Biographic title is designed to be as entertaining as it is informative. Timelines not only pinpoint significant dates, but set them in the context and culture of their times. Dynamic maps locate biographical events alongside other points of interest. Character traits are illuminated by visual comparisons.
Many people know that Vincent van Gogh (1853–90) was a 19th-century Dutch artist, a leading light of the Post-Impressionist movement who painted ‘Sunflowers’ and cut off his own ear. What, perhaps, they don’t know is that he sold, in his lifetime, only one of the 2,100 artworks he painted; that, in 1998, his work ‘Self-Portrait Without Beard’ sold for $71.5 million; that he wrote over 800 letters; and that he sent that famous ear wrapped in brown paper to a brothel. Biographic: Van Gogh presents an instant impression of his life and work, with an array of irresistible facts and figures converted into infographics to reveal the artist behind the pictures.

People love to insensitively call Van Gogh crazy and at the same time glorify his struggles. Please can we stop classing real humans as 'mad artists' and maybe try our hands at compassion.
When I picked this book up at the bookstore, I couldn’t let it go so I had to take it home with me, and take my time indulging in the beautiful art and illustration style. My favorite thing about it is how the biographical information was displayed In a digestible and fun way.
Merhabalar! Türkiye'de Nepal Kitap tarafından basılan Biyografik serisinin okuduğum ilk kitabı Van Gogh'un yorumuyla geldim ✨
Öncelikle yorum yapılacak pek bir kısım olmadığını belirterek kitapla ilgili hislerimden biraz bahsetmek istiyorum 😌
Van Gogh'un hayatını, hastalığını, eserlerini, ilişkilerini ve ölümünden sonrasını ele alan bu kitap tek günde bitirebileceğiniz kısa bir kitap diyebilirim. Nepal'in renkli baskısına bayıldım! Kapağına bakınca içinden böyle bir baskı çıkacağı aklımın ucundan dahi geçmemişti... 🔥
Her bir sayfası grafiklerle, örnek görsellerle, özel çizimlerle ele alınan bu biyografi gerçekten sizi sıkmadan Van Gogh hakkında genel (hatta bana detaylı) bilgileri edinmenize olanak sağlıyor. Ben okurken keyif aldım 💪🏻
Meraklısına önerilir mi? Önerilir! Ama kitapta aşırı detaylı, ansiklopedik bilgiler bulamayacağını lütfen göz ardı etmeyin.
Really liked this book. Just read it in one sitting, had some facts and statistics that I did not know before and found interesting. The author used different ways of laying out and providing facts that kept the book interesting and colorful. Very engaging book.
