More of the same formula as the other three books. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, unless you are reading them fairly close together like I am, then it is. The formula works for the most part, a hot romance, a danger, a mystery, all elements that make any Romantic-Suspense worth reading.

DEA Special Agent Jaliya Rabani is a Muslim woman working in as an intelligence specialist Afghanistan to help stem the flow of drugs into the US and to help the Afghan people throw off the evil that exists in that country. She is an independent, intelligent woman in a part of the world that views a woman as no more than a piece of property. She is doing a great job, but knows there is a mole somewhere who is feeding information to The Jackal. She is determined to find out both who the mole is and to uncover The Jackal. She has also put herself in great danger doing it.

FAST Bravo member Zaid Khan is on a four month deployment. He meets Jaliya and knows he wants to build a relationship, not just have a fling. She is sexy, strong and smart, all characteristics he wants for the long term. When attacks are aimed at her, all of Zaid's protective instincts go on alert. She refuses to back down until The Jackal is caught and all Zaid can do is his best to catch the guy.

Rescuing Jaliya!!!

DEA Special Agent Jaliya Rabani, a firece and smart woman who had to fight really hard to gain her independence. She wasn't about to let anyone nor anything threaten it. She was drawn to a member of thw FAST Bravo team, he was tge only man who enticed her.

Zaid Khan, a member of the FAST Bravo team wasn't looking for love. He had his fair share of bad luck when it came to the matters of the heart. So when he fell head over heels for the team's sexy intelligence specialist while he was deployed in Afghanistan. He couldn't be happier and more surprised.

Just as they gave into their attraction for each other, the drug smuggler they've been after attacked Zaid and his team. Jaliya moved heaven and earth to make sure the man who had come to mean the world to her was safe.

When "The Jackal" 's identity was revealed the betrayal that was felt was huge. To see that so many great people lost their lives because of one person's poor choices. Even though he had a reason to do what he did, he didn't make it right.

It was great to be back at Bagram. Zaid and Jaliya got their HEA.

STAND FAST is the third book in Kaylea Cross' DEA FAST series. It was mind-blowing, alluring and intriguing. Magnificent job by Kaylea Cross!

Sacrifice, Deception, Raw Emotion, Missions on Steroids, and Romance... All Seamlessly Woven Into A Stellar Novel!

Oh Ms. Cross you outdid yourself on this installment of the DEA FAST Series. Not only is this a beautiful story of Jaliya and Zaid’s heartwarming Muslim relationship, readers are enlightened about the difficulties our special agents face trying to eradicate drug trafficking by cartels. Working with informants and local forces in Afghanistan create obstacles when trust is an issue.

The last mission in this story was an adrenaline packed read! The surprise twist during this mission creates a real jaw dropping experience and keeps readers at the edge of their seats... guaranteed!

The epilogue was a satisfying conclusion to this story as Ms. Cross seemed to reward readers with sweet and tender moments following the hair raising read of the mission. Nice touch!

Can’t wait to read the next installment centering on Reid Prentiss. The love he has for his little girl and her feelings toward him tugged at my heartstrings. Thank you Ms. Cross for another enjoyable, informative, and extremely well written story!! I LOVE ALL YOUR BOOKS simply because you don’t disappoint.

3.5 RATING- Kaylea Cross is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. Everything about her books are always solid, from her writing, her pacing, her research...it all just works. Stand Fast was no exception. The reason I didn't rate it higher was because I don't like suspense stories that feature terror plots as much as other suspense story lines I read. I don't know why. Usually books that feature CIA operatives, occur overseas, or involve foreign bad guys don't rate as high with me.

While the book does feature a romance, readers should be prepared for a bit of a wait before they get to any steamy parts. Not a big deal and definitely the romance felt more authentic as written considering who these characters are but worth a mention if you like a lot of heat with your suspense.

Stand Fast

I loved this story! Jaliya and Zaid met through an online dating service and were about to meet in person, but Zaid (jokingly) made a comment that sends up red flags and Jaliya cancels and cuts all ties. Now they are both in Afghanistan, she as an analyst and he as a DEA FAST operator. As they get to know each other they figure out what happened and decide to give it another chance.
As things heat up on the job, so do their feelings for each other. The operation is important and many lives are at stake. Finding love and keeping it is also worth the the fight!
Thanks Kaylea for another amazing story! I can't wait for what comes next!

I love it when your waiting for a certain book in a series and when it finally is ready to read it's even better than you thought it would be.
Zaid and Jayila what a gorgeous story and I especially loved the ending oh who am I kidding I LOVED every nail biting page but the ending was the best oh and the guys getting off the helicopter I held my breath a long time during that scene.

Talk about fast paced action packed adventure, dirty deeds, sick kids and romance this story really had a touch of everything.

Amazing, FAST paced read:)

Jaliya and Zaid are the next couple to get together in this amazing FAST paced series. It all starts off in DC when Jaliya is called in to give Fast Bravo intel. Later when they are deployed overseas, they run into each other again, where it's harder to resist the attraction they have to each other but also more dangerous to their hearts as he is only there for four months at a time. However, when Jaliya unknowingly puts herself in danger due to chasing intel regarding the Jackal, Zaid pulls out all the stops to protect her!

Great read and looking forward to Prentiss next!

Even though it was slow going once Zaid and Jalya finally decided to their selves that they have feelings for each other things kind of sped up, but not very much. If you're looking for a lot of sex between these to characters, I have to say that that doesn't happen, not because Kaylea didn't write it, the sexual tension is there if full force, but because of things in the past that had happened to Jalya, she refused to have sex if it was just going to be casual. Zaid proved to her that he was in for the long haul.
It was a really good book, but like i said it's not a fast paced book in regards to passion between the couple. I am not disappointed in this book. Well done Kaylea. Now i'm just waiting for the next book

STAND FAST brings us another military suspense romance from Kaylea Cross and while this one didn't stand out for me like some of Cross's other books, it was still a solid read. I liked both Jaliya and Zaid and while they start out a bit rocky they quickly develop feelings. Jaliya was smart, determined, and sweet but she's also the black sheep of her family and she's always fighting for her place as a woman trying to prove herself in the Middle East. Zaid is a bit of the strong, silent type but he's got a heart of gold. He respects Jaliya's skills and never holds her back even when he's trying to protect her. Overall, this was a good read and while the suspense wasn't as consistent like earlier books in the series, it was still interesting.

Action packed powerful story full of tense danger and an attraction that just gets stronger and stronger. Great characters that I found interesting with their cultural backgrounds. Intrigue and betrayal are rife in this plot, in some ways it was hard to blame The Jackel for what he was doing, a country where he had little options and was desperate. This wasn't a fanatical situation or greed, it was for love, which meant I did have some sympathy for him. But he was still the bad guy. I loved the outcome of this it was so romantic and just what was needed after a few very knuckle biting chapters. Another fantastic read.

DEA FAST focuses on drugs dealing.
The main hero and heroine are Moslem. They met in Afghanistan in an operation to catch The Jackal.

Jaliya is an analyst, she gather Intel while Zaid and his team act as trooper. They work together and they also share the same moral compass.

It's so refreshing reading a heroine who knows how to handle herself and stood for what she believes in.

The romance is not instant and I like that and the actions are good. Literally good where a special team like FAST should be portrayed.

Really liked it

Great story. Fast paced with lots of action. The couple was a little more conservative than I like but I didn't find that it detracted from the sexiness of the story. I was invested in this couple and wanted their HEA.

3.5 Stars Stand Fast is an adult romantic suspense thriller by Kaylea Cross and the 3rd book in her DEA FAST series.

Packed with plenty of action, suspense and romance, Cross’s DEA FAST series focuses on the members of one of the DEA’s Foreign-Deployed Advisory and Support Teams: FAST Bravo. The series continues with DEA Special Agent Jaliya Rabani and FAST Bravo member Zaid Khan as they try to identify the DEA’s number one high value target in Afghanistan: a man known as The Jackal. With support from the Veneno cartel operating out of Mexico, he routinely smuggles large shipments of opium and weapons through the Hindu Kush to southern Afghanistan or over the border into Pakistan, then on to America.

Overall, Stand Fast was a well-written, action-packed, romantic story with a satisfying HEA, but unfortunately, not one of my favorites. Normally, I can devour 276 pages in a handful of days but I found myself setting this book down repeatedly. Jaliya was a strong, independent, bilingual woman with a Master’s degree in political science who was an intelligence officer for the DEA’s Foreign Cooperative Investigations unit. Zaid was ex-army, multilingual and FAST Bravo’s medic. They were likeable individuals and equally likeable as a couple. I think my problem with the story was the pacing—too slow. There were lots of interrogations…and waiting...and I often found myself setting my e-reader down. Annnnd, I really, really can’t stand disrespectful, misogynistic A-holes who treat women like stray dogs, which made getting through said interrogations highly irritating. Nonetheless, I look forward to reading Cross’s next book, Strike Fast!

**4.5 Stars**

The third installment in the DEA FAST series and this one takes place in Afghanistan. I really enjoyed reading Zaid Khan story and the twist on how he first met Jaliya Rabani.

This story brings the reader in the middle of an operation taking place in Kabul. The FAST Team is serving their quarterly deployment overseas and working to assist capturing the person responsible for the drug trafficking taking place in Afghanistan. Special Agent Jaliya Rabani has been tasked to find the person known as The Jackal. She's the middle daughter of Afghanistan immigrants (lived in the UK until after high school and immigrated to the US) who is determined to make the world a peaceful place. With her cultural background and being able to speak the native language, Jaliya is the perfect choice for the job. But she is not the traditional Muslim daughter, in fact she has been known to be the black sheep in her family.

Zaid Khan is a member of DEA Fast. Similar to Jaliya, Zaid is the son immigrants. Zaid is the medic in the team. In the previous book, Zaid had tried his hand on online dating, where he met a woman whom he took the chance to ask out on a date after weeks of exchanging messages. Unfortunately for Zaid, the woman bailed on him the night before said date.

I really enjoyed the intrigue, action and the sweet romance of this story. The author encompassed the religious and cultural background of the characters perfectly.

Enjoyable read!

Stand Fast was a little different than - I think - any other romantic suspense novel I've read. Sure, there's the standard boy meets girl, danger threatens their lives, boy and girl fall in love and they live happily ever after. The difference here though is that the main female character did not find herself being chased down by a specific person and she did not find herself kidnapped at the end waiting on the male character to rescue her.

In Stand Fast, Jaliya, a DEA Special Agent stationed out of Kabul, runs into Zaid, a member of FAST Bravo. Jaliya is tasked with trying to find The Jackal, a higher up in a drug cartel who arranges shipments of drugs across the boarder to ensure they make it to Mexico. Zaid and the other members of FAST Bravo go on ops stemming from Jaliya's intel trying to find and capture The Jackal.

Zaid and Jaliya had briefly met in DC and unbeknownst to them, had struck up a small relationship online before Jaliya cut the conversations off. At first, I was a little skeptical on how fast Zaid and Jaliya developed feelings for one another. Their online past made it a little more believable.

My review here might be a little scattered but I liked the book overall and look forward to reading the next in the DEA FAST series.
