I read the earlier, or "classic" years online as a webcomic, but it had fallen off my radar. This books is a really good jumping on point for new readers (don't be put off by the Roman numeral 3 on the spine). There's an introduction to the main characters and lots of time to get you situated with the world. The world itself is rather madcap, but in a way that works. I just accept the appearance of vampires or a T. Rex in a business suit. The story itself is strong, although there are a number of fun diversions along the way. This is the first part of a trilogy (or sexology depending on how you count) but the journey is tons of fun even if there isn't much in the way of resolution.

There is chaos, wrapped in a sweet sweet taco shell. Wrapped in a pizza, wrapped in ninja high jinx that is itself tucked lovingly deep inside a buddy action comedy with heart...and that is before you get to the sweet nougat center of trying to sort out your place in the world.
