For Olivia Dawson, there's nothing magic about the holidays. They're only a convenient excuse to return home to her wolver pack where she can lick her wounds before she moves on. She won't have to admit the truth. She won't have to ask for the forgiveness she doesn't deserve. She's made so many mistakes, but the worst was leaving the wolver who shared her heart. That's a mistake that can't be fixed. Love lost can never be reclaimed. As far as Brad Seaward is concerned, Livvy Dawson can't move on soon enough. It doesn't matter if his wolf comes alive at the sight of her. Once burned, twice shy is Brad's motto and that hot little wolver burned his dreams to ash. Sure, he always knew it would end that way, but knowing didn't take away the pain. So why take a second chance when the outcome will be the same? But this is Gilead, a place with a magic all its own, where hearts are warm, secrets are hard to keep, and pack comes first. There's shifter magic in the air as the Alpha's Mate enlists the help of those around her to bring these two lovers back together – with a bonus for the pack.

This book was AWESOME!! The characters were very lovable. People you would like to have as friends. As a matter of fact, I would love to live there. Banter among the characters was well-written, informative, and let you understand the characters perfectly. Every detail was important to the story. I loved the elderly twins! They were quirky, eccentric, entertaining. A real riot!
The story was well-written and moved at s good pace. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I highly recommend this book! Jacqueline Rhoades is an awesome author. She has a way of writing that really puts the reader right in the story. Read it. I guarantee you will enjoy it too.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I will definitely add this to my collection when I can in the future!!
This is the 8th book in the series! It is for adults only due to the steamy content and violence. It isn’t mandatory to read this series in order, but I think it makes it much better if you do read them in order because you know the world and other characters better.
This is Brad and Livvy’s story, and of course you see Jazz and Griz (Doc) because they are the Alpha and Mate in Gilead. Both Livvy and Brad have baggage they are carrying around and not talking to each other about. There is plenty of misunderstandings and trouble. I couldn’t put the book down because I love the Wolver world. You also learn why females have to be taken over the moon by the Alpha which is pretty interesting. All of Livvy’s family is awesome and there is humor galore in Gilead! I love how Jazz handles things. She is awesome as always.
Jacqueline always has a great mix of humor and action in each of her Wolver books. I can’t wait to see who’s story is next!!
I highly recommend to any wolf shifter fan especially if you already love the Wolver world!! I can’t wait to read the next one!!
I have followed this author for a few years now. It isn't hard when the qualities you look for are there time after time. Warmth exudes in the writing and in the characters. Continuity without affecting the stand alone status gives a connection to the reader that allows them to accept the wonderfully improbable creatures that live in this wonderfully improbable place. Brad and Livvy capture our hearts and hold us till the end. The happy ever after end that lifts the spirits. Beautiful feel to this, lovely flow of prose and great story about the individual and their place in the community they inhabit. What else can you want?
She left her country pack for the city and human life. But when life gets bad coming home is the right choice. You can come home and make it right with your pack and mate
Jacqueline Rhoades has the magic touch when it comes to writing a fantastic book! I literally could not put it down. Livvy (Olivia) Dawson thinks she wants a better life than what she had in Gilead. Brad Seaward is the wolver she left behind. Now she is returning home with her tail between her legs. This story has so many of the great elements I look for in a PNR book. Suspense, Intrigue, Action, Laughter, and HEA. This book just grabs a hold of you. I did laugh out loud. I also cried. There were times I was sitting on the edge of my seat, I gasped. I could picture this in my head like I was watching a movie. We got to meet all the great Characters we came to love in Gilead. Jazz (The Mate) Giz (The Alpha) Miz Ezzy and her "boys", Donna & Ellie. This book is magic. Normally a book like this would take me a week to 10 days to read. I read it in 1 1/2 days. Do yourself a favor and get a copy and start reading. From a True Fan... Pam James.
I love Jacqueline Rhoades writing and this book does not disappoint. This is a wonderful addition to the Wolver series. I loved going back to Gilead and catching up with the wolvers there. She does a exceptional job of taking you from not being sure if you really like Livvy to loving her and rooting for her and Brad to finally get it together and put the past behind them so they can move on. Jacqueline wrote this book in such a way that you don't have to have read the other Wolver books in order to follow this one but why would you want to. Another great read from a talented author. If you follow this series this is a must read and if you have never read a book written by Mrs. Rhoades you will soon be an avid fan!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. As usual Jacqueline has delivered yet another brilliant book in the Wolvers series. It's time to go back to Gilead. Olivia Dawson left for a better life after a break up with Brad she thought she had the best of it when she meets another Wolver and falls for however she soon finds out that he doesn't really care for her and that she's just a stop gap. So she heads back home and to her family. Brad has built a life for himself and thinks he's over Olivia however his Wolf has another idea. Will these 2 Wolvers finally get together again or is it too late find out in this latest book from an amazing author
This is Book 8 in the Wolvers series. I loved this book. Olivia, known as Livvy at home, left home to go to college in the big city. She has left the small town of Gilead and that life behind her. Or has she? Because that’s where she’s headed now with her tail between her legs. She was pack so they couldn’t turn her away, right? She had left Brad behind when she left for the big city; she had lost the magic of being a wolver and so much more when she left. Could her life ever be right again? She left as a naïve child but came back as a disillusioned adult. This was such an interesting book with everything to learn about growing up as a wolver and a human. Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better. I loved this book and this series.
Shifter’s Magic is Livvy and Brad’s story and is book 8 in The Wolvers Series.
Livvy Dawson left her home town for a bigger and better life. After her relationship with the man she thought would be her future ends she returns back home for some much needed time away.
Brad Seaward has tried hard to forget Livvy, his mate and how she ran out on him without a second thought. Now with Livvy back he’s unable to avoid her and must deal with their past.
This is a great read, the story flows throughout the book, characters are well written, likable and fun. It was great to see some loved characters from previous books make an appearance.
I did find Livvy a bit annoying in the beginning but found myself rooting for her and Brad to find a way past their issues so they could have a future together.
I love the Wolvers series. In my heart Gilead feels like a real town, with real people. Through the years (books) I have gotten to know the towns folk and they feel like my neighbors. But never more so than in this book. Livvy's story touched my heart. I felt like I have experienced some of her same fears and loneliness and mistakes. Then add in Brad's issues, and my heart bled for both of them. I think this is the best book in the series because it got to the heart and soul of the characters. Awesome read.
This was great! In the beginning I had a real antipathy for Olivia... feeling betrayed much as the town had done, from knowing her in the past before she left to get all heighty-teighty. But the characterization work totally and smoothly, believably, got her turned back on track. That's some skillful writing to pull off! Totally impressive :) I was totally pulling for both of them within a few chapters! Great work, and I want MOOOREEE!! I obsessively read through the whole series now and wahhhhh I don't want it to be over!
I always enjoy books by this author. Her characters always feel real and have interesting challenges to overcome. I typically rate the books as 5 star, but the H/h in this book seemed a little too filled with angst and self doubt for my taste; YMMV as they say. Still, the backwoods charm of the town of Gilead never fails to enchant.
Very disappointing finale, so much Telling and weak H and h. They were mates from an early age, but she was seduced into the human world at college. She was selfish, he was self absorbed, and both weren't likeable. Being told their history and self pitying thoughts was too much. I finished but I didn't care about them at all. Loved the series, just not the final story.
I had all the other books so got this one to finish the set. Before I knew it it was gone midnight! And I had to be up at five. Very good and nice to catch up with doc and jazz
This is the best book that Jacqueline Rhoades has written to date. She continues to grow as an author whose characters are relatable to the feelings and emotions that can be experienced in our normal lives. The book starts out with the heroine Olivia (Livvy) Dawson headed back home to Gilead and her wolver pack feeling as she had failed in life and love. You experience the angst, hurt and humiliation that she felt when her rich wolver boyfriend and family rejects her for the country ways she was raised with. She returns home ashamed of her behavior toward her family and friends. Most of all she is knows that when she returns to Gilead she will be facing her lost love Brad Seaward that she left behind when she went off to college. Experience Brad’s feelings of inadequacy and not measuring up to the ideal wolver mate for Livvy as he cannot provide her the life style she lived with Terrence. Brad will do anything to support Livvy even if he has to step back and live without his mate. If you are looking for a book that will pull you in and carry you along on the journey of these lovers as they learn that they must not assume what each other is feeling and thinking but share with one another. It has the heat and strength of a love renewed. Then this is the book for you.
